In case anyone wants to reproduce the style, here is a tutorial on how I made it:
Disclaimer: I did it in Photoshop, I don´t know which other programs would work too.
1. Start with a finished illustration with no text and open it as a new file:
2. Switch the image mode to Grayscale:
3. Adjust the levels (you want to make the shadows darker, but feel free to play with it to achieve a different effect!):
4. Switch mode to Bitmap:
Result:
Now, while still in this mode, correct mistakes or go back and try to rasterize it with different options in step 3 and 4.
5. Resize your picture (the bitmap made it really small):
And export it!
If you plan on making high quality prints, I recommend saving it as Tiff. It loses no information and will have the most crisp edges. However, for the internet, png is more than fine.
Now, this is what I also did with the text saved as a different png on a separate layer. But in step 4. I put the output resolution as 65 instead of 35. Because of that, the text is readable. I then merged these two finished pngs into on in a new photoshop file.
6. Open a new photoshop file, import your image png and text png and play with it! :)
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!
This technique can be used to achieve a variety of effects, however I had a deadline at school and needed to finish it fast.

An archangel is actually a type of babygirl,
We've all seen The gabe dress but I had a divine vision of him in a kroj (Czech folk costume) and y'know what? I was right. He slays. What's the point of art if not to take some fictional guy, say "that's my wife" and put clothes on him like a paper doll
Anyway I think everyone should draw him in their culture's folk costume now. I wanna start a trend
