Hello! first off I just want to say that I love love love your art!!! its so amazing! 💖
So, I’ve been asking this question around online, so I hope you don’t mind! (Please feel free to ignore this ask if you don’t feel like answering!) Anyway, I’ve been drawing for a good while now. It’s always been something that interests me, but, in all the time that I’ve done it, I’ve never once found a style that is unique to me and that I’m good at. So, I was just wondering if you have any tips or advice on how to find your own style? I’ve tried so many though I can’t ever seem to like any of them or actually stick to it. One thing I really have trouble with is proportion. I want my style to be more chibi-esqe, but not completely if you knows what I mean lol. If you have any advice for a fellow artist I’d really like to hear it!! Please share your wisdom :D

I don’t mind at all ! Let’s see…
For finding your art style:
► Define what you want to tell with your art.
Not mandatory, but i think it helps. What do you want people to feel when they see your art? Do you want them to feel the emotions of the characters you draw? Or be impressed by the technique? the colors? All of the above?- I think your answer will lean you to something more specific in terms of style.
For example, I tend to focus on characters expressions and feelings. So i have a relatively simple artstyle that allows me to focus on facial traits a bit more. (Also... i'm lazy- So i like to tell more with less)
► Observe drawings from artists you love !
Try to analyze what you like so much about it. Is it the lineart? the specific way they draw eyes or any specific part of the body? Is it the colors or the rendering style? And try to reproduce it yourself. Not in a plagiarism kind of way, but more as a study !
► Try, fail and retry again.
Once you have analyzed the things you like, try to incorporate it into your own art. It might come off badly sometimes, but you also might create happy accidents ! Both outcomes are good learning.
And while I don't think it’s possible to have a style 100% original, it doesn’t mean you can’t create an artstyle that you own and feels as uniquely yours !
► Be patient (trust the process and don’t be too hard on yourself).
Defining your artstyle might take years to refine itself. Decades even… With practice and dedication it will come naturally to you ! But as with any discipline you have to be patient, there will be ups and downs and very frustrating moments but you never cease to learn.
For proportions:
► Don’t be shy about using references.
There is no such thing as cheating in art (if used properly). It builds your visual library, so help yourself as much as you can ! Professionals use them all the time too.
► I don’t want to be the bearer of bad news, but…. We can’t really cut anatomy practice-
I avoided it for so long myself and I regret it bitterly. So don’t be like me and practice your anatomy ! Even if you aim for a simple or semi-chibi style. The trap is it seems easy to draw , when in reality a lot of chibi artists already master anatomy to a certain degree.
It’s much easier to simplify shapes when you know a little more about the structure behind them.

My advice is to start slow. Most of those websites have a timer by default, but don’t set a time limit for now and take your time on each pose. Try to breakdown body parts into simple geometrical shapes. It helps grow your visual library and it’ll get easier to draw with better proportions !

TOP 10 favourite AA fanfics?
Hi !! Thank you for the ask ! Sorry it took me some time.
While i love the concept of asking the fandom questions, I'm really the wrong person to be asked about fanfics right now hfhdhdhs-
I'm new... Very very new to fanfic reading. Oh dear... i'm not even sure i've read 10 of them... Do i even have 5 ?? Oh no... oh boi, i'm a fraud..
So... Okay, my top ten will be the list of what i've read so far instead.
(and chronogically)
► Black Water by @distortedclouds is the very first AA fanfic I've read ! It is a deep dive into Annie's relationship with her father (amongst other things). And boi i BINGED ... It depicts abusive relationships and its side effects very accurately. And i think Distordedclouds's interpretation of Annie and her trauma is very much on point ! It sparkled my curiosity into reading more fics for sure.
► Aruani in fort Salta series and Village by the end of the world by @moonspirit. Is a serie of events following the rumbling and its resulting responsibilities for the Alliance, more especially Armin. Stories about love, grief, self hate, insecurities and work/life balance. I cried for the first time reading fiction with this... And i relate to Armin very much... Y-Y It definitely confirmed that there is a lot of talented writers out there i needed to check out !
► Neverland of (our) desires by @annawayne. Is a one shot about the canon events succeeding the boat scene. If i had a word to describe Anna 's writing, as a noobie reader and non-writer, i think it would be a caress on the cheek. So even if there was angst and heart string pulled, i felt at peace.... And it has pretty pictures so i'm sold-
I also started My yellow light in your soft whispers recently but i'm still at the very begining !
► Tangerine Skies and Muffled Cries by @midnightraine131 is a one shot about cadets Armin and Annie sneaking out from duty on a very special evening. It's very sweet and fluffy ! The idea of them sneaking out together makes me all giggly, and i had my share of "aww" moments~
► All the things that could have been by @mimiwrites2000 explores the thougths of a tipsy Armin during his party time with the scouts back in Marley. I really felt his angst and languish and it hurt me in a very good way ;v; ♥
► By each crimes and kindness (i'm bound to you) by @aruanimess tells the story of cadets Armin and Annie slowly falling for each other and the internal turmoil it might bring. The teen angst is really present and, ooooh i'm sooo here for it !! I was on the edge of my seat everytime they met !
► On the path that led me to you by @the-last-thread-of-my-sanity is also a story taking place during cadet training where Armin and Annie explore their blooming feelings for each other. It has a lot of very sweet moments in a very clumsy-teenagey way and i love it !
Oh hey look, i have more than 5-
I have a soft spot for canon compliant/post canon stories, so that's what i tend to read first i suppose. But there's a lot more i have yet to discover. I haven't even started AUs yet... but i will at some point! bear with me, i read slowly ):

Hello Moon ! (And @annawayne too, hi ! Thank you both for asking ! I’ll answer for you two here if that's ok because i’m not that interesting honestly-)
Hmmm 3 random things about me, let’s see…
► I love everything about space, and have looked up at the sky since I was a little kid. I wanted to be an astronaut for a long time ! Even if i didn't pursue it i'm still super enthusiastic about everything happening above my head !
► I started drawing because I wanted to tell my own stories. I sucked at writing at the time (and still do I guess-) so I decided to try drawing instead ! I was young and naive and stupid and didn’t think I needed a minimum of worldbuilding and character dev and… well.. WRITING-, i just… winged it XD
So yeah that’s why I draw now.
► While I like drawing serious, angsty or fluff stuff, very stupid comics are where I really have a blast. I have this one as an example with Armin :
It’s lame, but hey, at least it makes me laugh for a solid 3 seconds and that’s what matters-

I think the moment the female titan moved her leg up to fakely stomp Armin i was :

Jokingly, at first-
I didn’t even recognize Annie at that time XD ( ye i’m stupid like that-)
But when the reveal scene aired… Yeah sure Mikasa and Eren were there, but the conflict seemed so personal between Annie and Armin. She was hurt, and he too looked so betrayed, yet confused and conflicted, aaa. I completely fell for Aruani at that moment. And I was pretty certain Annie was going to die in her crystal at this point... Imagine my pain- But i’m sooo glad i was wrong-

OMG you are one of if not the best aruanie artist i saw, i cant believe i have only found you now!
They were like the first ship ever for me and they still mean a lot, they are so sweet, especially in your style. The ironic thing is, that at first way back around season 1 i started to see aruanie fan art, and at the time i tought it was a bit odd (i guess i missed all the signs in the show), i liked it but i considered it somewhat of a crack ship, especially since Annie was present just for one short season then it seemed like she never actually gonna come back. And then i lost my mind when suddenly in the manga it was just straight up canon xd. It propably helped that from the begining they were my favourite characters even individually.
They are still the best ship ever, like what do you mean in her whole life she was raised for war, but then couldnt kill the one guy who didnt cared about all this conflict and revenge he just wanted to explore the world, and her decicion cost the warriors the whole mission and eventually changed the world 😭
Btw do you know of some fanfictions that you would recommend?

Haha I feel you! Aruani made me feel things i never thought i would for fictional characters before. I personally shipped them from the start. I guess I was gifted with the vision and carried the curse of being judged by my AOT-enthusiast friends for years. So I understand why it felt like a crack ship at the time for some. I was pretty sure i was delusional myself-
but now… SIKE !!!!!!!!!!!! I am unapologetically taking my revenge with Aruani fanart now XD
But yeah, Annie is basically the one who compromised the whole mission because of her affection for Armin. Ruthless Annie. Flawless Annie... Falling for the sweet sweet boy with cute smiles and curious eyes?? aaa i’m weAk..
As for fanfictions, I am actually new to this kind of media. I never really looked for written fan-content in any other fandoms before…well- now... But i’m happy i’m finally doing it because it opens my artistic viewpoint and this community is very talented ♥ I didn't know writing could make me feel so many emotions and keeping me involved like that. I never experienced it to that extend in the past.
That being said, it means I haven't read a lot of them yet, besides work keeps me busy and my reading is pretty slow…So for the time being i 'll suggest you take a look at this post which regroups a lot of work already (and I think reblogs have some updates too ! )
And if you wanted my personal recommandations, maybe ask me again in 6 months or 24 so I have time to catch up ! haha-

To me, Annie fell first but Armin fell harder, 100% - And i think this vision is pretty common in the AA fandom (right?)
What might be an unpopular take however, is I believe that Annie’s feelings were one-sided for a while before Armin reciprocates. What I mean by that is I imagine Armin’s feelings starting to bloom when Annie was trapped in her crystal, while she on the other hand, was into him since cadet times.
( And don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore the idea of them having mutual feelings during their young teenage years as cadets! But idk, the potential angst of Armin discovering Annie's feelings way later wins for me-)
I'd love to draw comics about this to elaborate at some point. I have a few drafts...
