In a Tangled Modern au, I adore the idea of Hugo and Varian just, living in Eugene and Rapunzel’s house. There’s no way they don’t end up having a large fancy house and Raps totally doesn’t mind them living off her, and Varian and Hugo are broke college students during an economic crisis. They pretty much make her basement their own apartment. (And it’s a good parallel to the fanon where the two end up moving into the castle.)

But I also love the idea of Var and Hugo buying a shed/trailer/mini house and putting it in Raps and Eugene’s back yard and living there.

Just, the idea of Eugene walking onto his back porch one day and there’s this tiny lil house with explosions going off inside, and the realization that he’s stuck with his gremlin cousin and his chaos goblin boyfriend for the rest of his natural life fills me with so much joy.

Understandable. Also I love the idea of Varian sounding romantic but nah, he’s just being scientific.

Varian: Hugo’s eyes are like a vibrant shade of green that shine like emerald in the sunlight. In the dark, they resemble a Coronan forest shade of green. Scientifically speaking, of course.

yknow how some people with green or hazel eyes or whatever will go into a 5-minute long explanation describing their eye colors. hugo is NOT like that. you ask him and hes just like "are you blind?" in his typical snarky fashion. if you ask varian what color hugo's eyes are though,

Varian will alternate between “the most gorgeous shade of emerald, a dazzling hue of jade, an enchanting luscious forest green.”

and “baby poop green”

I imagine that Hugo has pretty good self-preservation skills. He grew up on the streets, he knows how to put himself and his needs first. So when he moves into the castle, he knows to go to sleep at a decent time, now that he has proper bathroom amenities he takes good care of his skin and hair; and while his eating habits aren’t great (he tends not to eat enough because he simply isn’t used to eating more than one meal a day if that) he actively tries to take care of himself. 

He’s also pretty smart when it comes to lab safety since if he got hurt, no one would be there to help him, and he can’t risk injury if he’s on the run from the cops. 

Varian however, only eats when he remembers (someone has to remind him),

Is an insomniac because he constantly stays up late to finish projects, he has trained himself to run on only three hours of sleep. He definitely falls asleep in his lab too. He also probably hasn’t showered in four days and hasn’t changed his clothes in even longer.

Also, lab safety? Never heard of her. He only wears goggles 30% of the time. He drinks out of beakers, and he definitely sniffs chemicals to figure out what they are.

I genuinely don’t think he cleans his lab, it’s a mess and the organization only makes sense in his head.

I also don’t think there are any windows in his lab, so since he’s working with chemicals all day, he’s probably inhaling the fumes and getting high on a regular basis.

He makes energy potions and homemade pain relief. (it’s cocaine. Varian made himself cocaine. Eugene confiscated it. He just made more)

probably because this dude forgets to shower in favor of staying in his lab all day, so he smells pungently of various chemicals and smoke.

i think we’re all sleeping on the fact that varian canonically makes babies cry when he passes by

Something I’ve noticed, no one loves Eugene and Rapunzel more than New Dream shippers;

and no one is meaner to Varian and Hugo more than Varigo shippers

If you live in Waverly, you likely know about James Emmitt who practically helped build this town. I heard the story today about his supposed daughter who was exiled for having an affair with a black servant. Before she died, she planned her gravestone to have a gun pointed at her fathers gravestone. Other people say both her and her sister killed themselves for mysterious reasons.

This isn’t true.

I did a lot of digging today and found that these stories hold no weight. James Emmitt did have two daughters, but they both died as young children, which is a bit young to have an affair. He also unlikely had a black servant as Waverly unfortunately ran out almost all black folk, even if they were servants. Also the idea that he exiled his daughter and no one in a small town ever made mention of it? And her birth records were conveniently burned? Also why are the sisters’ graves so far away? Why do their graves display their causes of death? Why did a woman in exile get a fancy grave marker? This story is nothing but legend in my opinion.

Mary Lou Francis Emmitt (the daughter who supposedly hung herself) was the daughter of George D. Emmitt. She was a pianist who died due to an illness after traveling in Europe in 1884. George D. Emmitt was a rather wealthy man but was not, to my knowledge, related to James. It’s likely Gun Statue Lady was a sister of hers and not James Emmitts disgraced daughter, and their fathers wealth paid for their fancy graves. There is no evidence to back up that James Emmitt abandoned his daughter, murdered a man, or had two daughters driven to suicide.

my brain hasn’t been working properly lately and I sorta ditched tumblr. I’ve been an off and on user for the past few years but I’ve especially been off lately.

I’m learning to manage my mental health struggles (adhd mixed with depression is so fun /s) and I hope I can become a more active user.
