The Blackbird: Chapter 1
Tumblr media
Pairing: Stella x Fem!Knight MC (Cirrus Qrow)
Summary: After calling it official: Cirrus Qrow and Stella of Solaria have become one of the most popular couples in all of Alfea, Stella's mother suddenly calls her back to Solaria. But, not without Stella needing a knight's escort... Cirrus.
Chapter Warning(s): Fear of WLW intimacy, Sexual Tension, Semi-NSFW
Chapter Theme: Daydream - The Aces
Chapter Key: Italics = Thoughts, +*+ = Time Skip, Bold/Italic = Flashback
A/n: None
-------------------------------------------------------------------
You step out of the shower after a day's training, beginning to throw together decent clothing for your date with Stella right as practice ended.
*Stella's POV* You stand in front of the mirror, continuously switching from one outfit preview to another.
"Stella, you okay?" Flora comes into the room
"I don't know what to wear," You panic
"Dude, it's Cirrus, do you see how much she simps over you? How much she loves seeing you in general? Not once have I seen her not smile when you come into the room," She smiles, "Hell, she'd be ecstatic if you just were just naked."
"I'd rather die of embarrassment than be naked in front of her," You lie
"Oh, what a shame then," A familiar voice chuckles, "I actually would have enjoyed that."
You turn to see Flora standing behind Cirrus. Cirrus smacking her lips together.
"Cirrus," You blush, "How long were you standing there?"
"Just the entire time," She says, chuckling
You could easily hear the slight hurt in her voice, but Cirrus was good to hide her emotions physically.
"All right, you two, let me change and I'll be ready soon," You say, ushering them out of the door
You shut the door but pause, taking a minute to process the fact Cirrus was hurt that you prefer not to be intimate with her. Or at least that was how she most likely processed the saying.
It was more... Like...
You were never intimate with a woman before; let alone the said woman is one of Alfea's greatest specialists. You've been intimate with others before. But none of which were females. You wanted to make your first time with Cirrus perfect. At least, you wanted to make it perfect for her.
You snap back to your reality and finally set out on an outfit.
*Cirrus' POV* "Where are you two going?" Flora asks out of curiosity
"Just out to a bar," You say, "Just a plain date night."
"You're taking a princess out to a bar?" She nearly laughs, "Are you basic?"
"Money isn't really a big thing in my wallet right now," You sigh in frustration, "Besides, she and I agreed that we'd just go out onto a plain date."
"That's a first that Stella wants something plain," Musa chimes in, "She's changed a lot since you two started dating."
"Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Do y'all actually miss her old self?" You ask, jokingly
"I think you're the kind of person she needs," Musa says, "I genuinely mean that."
You sigh into a smile.
"Cirrus," Stella's voice brings all of you to her attention
*Stella's POV* You settled on plain high-rise jeans with a crop tank top. You watch in agony as she strides up to you. She props her arm above your head on the doorframe.
"Hey," Her tone drops a few octaves, "Come here often?"
You couldn't help but laugh. You press your hand against her abs and she takes a few steps back towards the door.
"Ugh Stella just get a hotel room," Musa sighs in frustration, "Cirrus, just keep her for the rest of the night!"
You grab Cirrus by the hand and make your way out of the suite.
+*+
The two of you sit on a high-top table in the far corner of the bar.
"I'm not offended by what you said earlier by the way," Cirrus breaks the awkward silence
"I know, it's just-"
"Stells, you don't need to explain yourself," She chuckles, sweeping your hand into hers
She gently brushes the back of your knuckles with her thumb. Her green eyes piercing yours.
"God how do you do that?" You ask, leaning back into the chair
"Do.. What?" She asks
"Eye-fuck me," You answer
"I don't know what you're talking about," She says
"You know what I'm talking about," You reply, trying to hide your smile
"I can assure you that I don't," She says, "It's probably my resting bitch face."
"Your resting bitch face consists of a very... Stern look. Like, your eyes say 'I want to kill someone'," You say, "But, right now... Your eyes say 'I will lay down my life for you'."
"Well, I would," She says, "For you, princess."
She kisses the back of your hand. Ever since you started dating Cirrus, you only liked it when she uses your princess title.
"I remember when you wanted nothing to do with me," You chuckle
"Yeah well, sometimes getting used is not the most fun feeling ever," She sighs
"I'm sorry," You sigh
"If me still being mad at you is a concern, it shouldn't be," She says, giving you a reassuring hand squeeze, "I forgive you."
"Not really easy to forgive myself," You sigh
"What's it gonna take for me to make you forgive yourself?" She asks
"Nothing really, it'll just be sitting there," You sigh
She gives you a hard stare...
"But, I'll try," You slightly smile
+*+
The both of you decided to take a walk along the barrier of Alfea after tiring out of being in the public eye. But, the two of you find a spot in the forest where eyes won't lay upon the both of you. You lean back against Cirrus.
"So... What is this... Big final you have to complete?" Cirrus asks
"Apparently there is a higher form of transformation magic, one that is far more powerful than our traditional transformation," You sigh
"You don't sound too thrilled though Stells," She says
"The issue is that..." Your voice trails
"That?..." She asks
"I have to make a great sacrifice," You explain
"Oh... Is Stella afraid to give up her walk-in closet?" She tries to make light of your situation
"No, heavens no," You chuckle, "I just... What if I die?"
"Stella, you won't," Cirrus sits up from the tree
"How would you know that?" You ask
"Because I will make sure you don't, princess," She smiles, "Plus, I may not have any magical knowledge, but I'm pretty sure your magic won't let you die."
You smile as you settle into Cirrus' embrace.
"What if I don't achieve it before the end of the year?" You ask
"Hey hey, slow down Stells," She chuckles, "We still have some time. So, it can be a worry problem for later."
"You know when to tell me the right things," You smile
+*+
Cirrus walks you back to your suite. The both of you linger by the doorway: not wanting the night to end.
"Thanks for... Walking me back," You smile
"Always," She smiles
You give her a quick cheek kiss and turn away from her to open the door to your suite. However, Cirrus puts her hands on your waist and turns you back to her. She snakes her arms around the small of your back and pulls your body to hers. She leans her head down and kisses you. You immediately return the kiss.
"Goodnight, princess," She smiles, placing her forehead against yours, her grip slowly ceasing on your body
"Goodnight, my little bird," You smile back, attempting to reach for the doorknob
*Cirrus' POV* You hated the nickname: bird. Anything involving the term. However, since Stella began calling you that,
+*+
"So your date went well I presume?" Kat's voice chimes in as soon as you open the door
"Yeah," You sigh, hopping into bed
"Just 'yeah'?" She asks, "N-nothing happened?!"
"What was supposed to happen?" You ask, sitting up
"I don't know... Maybe..." Kat gestures hip thrusts
"Kat you can't be serious," You sigh in unamusement
"Come on, months into the relationship and neither of you have done the deed yet?" She asks
"I told her to let me know when to take her to bed," You sigh, "To which she didn't tell me yet."
"Wow, you're speaking like a true knight," Kat smirks, "Waiting for your princess to feel ready. Do you have some knight-lineage in your blood?"
"Frankly, I have no clue what my lineage is," You say
"That'll be a worry for tomorrow," Kat sighs
*Stella's POV* You lay in your bed after a day of your classes; attempting to relax and be mentally prepared for the next day. but, your mind was reeling... You couldn't shake the overwhelming fear of not achieving your powerful fairy form...
Just say when you want me to take you to bed, princess.
"T-take me to bed... Cirrus..." You whisper to yourself
You shut your eyes... Continuing to picture Cirrus. How you fantasized her hands roaming your body. Kissing every part... Your hand slowly snakes down your body, your fingertips making it past your waistband...
"Hey Stella? Flora knocks against the door frame
You immediately snap out of your Cirrus-themed fantasy and attempt to compose yourself as best as you could. You watch as Flora looks from the envelope to you. You're sure that she could see your heaving chest.
"You... Okay?" She asks
"Yes, now what is it?" You ask, sitting up in your bed
"A letter from your mother," She hands it to you
"Thanks," You tell her
You seat yourself at the edge of your bed, taking a deep breath.
"My mother is summoning me?" You reread the letter your mother
"Well, could be for something important," Flora says
"Odd she's requesting that I'd bring a 'knightly' escort to the kingdom," You state
"I know a good 'knightly' escort you could go ask," She says
You look at her as the corner of her lip curls into a smirk.
"Fine, just to make you feel better," You sigh
"Not make me feel better, make you feel better," Flora continues to jokingly taunt you
"Shut up," You sigh in annoyance
You stand up and throw on one of Cirrus' sweaters and begin making your way towards her dorm.
+*+
When you round the corner to her hall, Kat looks up at you.
"Got a date with Terra, room's all hers," She winks as she passes by
You lowly chuckle to yourself as you continue making your way to her room.
*Cirrus' POV* You throw your damp towel onto a nearby rack as you throw on a sports bra. Cold fingers trail across your stomach.
"You nearly gave me a heart attack," You sigh
"Sorry, I need to talk to you," She says
"Yeah? Your suite mates starting to hate you again?" You ask, throwing on a sweatshirt
"No, no," She says, "My mother is summoning me back to the kingdom."
"This... Concerns me... How?" You ask, genuinely
"She is... Requesting a Knight's escort," She says
"That's... One odd request," You say, sitting next to her
"But, it's not just any 'Knight', Cirrus," She says, looking at you
"Who else could be- Oh..." You catch on, "So... If I'm piecing this together correctly, you would like me to accompany you to the castle..."
She nods.
"When do we leave?" You ask
"We can leave tomorrow morning," She says
"Jeez Stella that soon?!" You ask
"I told you that it was soon," She says
"Okay," You sigh, "How long would we be there for?"
"She didn't specify..." She says
"Alright," You sigh again, "I'll start packing."
"You're the best," Stella says
"I try," You chuckle, getting your suitcase from under your bed
"I mean it, Cirrus," She says
As you stand back up, her hands wrap around your neck.
"My mother's unpredictable," She says, "Who knows what she'll have planned..."
"I can handle unpredictable," You smile
You take a step back and begin walking over to your drawers, looking for presentable clothing for the trip. As you were in the midst of re-folding a shirt, Stella's fingers trickle around your waist and wrap around your stomach.
"You can worry about that later..." She says against your shoulder
"Aren't we leaving first thing in the morning?" You ask, turning to look over your shoulder
"Yes but..." She says
Her hand travels down to your hip and turns you to face her.
"But?" You ask, cracking a smile
She doesn't answer you. But her lips find yours. Her hands find yours and guides them to the skin under her shirt. She gestures for your hands to travel up further. She uses her hands and presses them onto your shoulders, guiding you towards your bed. You climb into her lap as she falls back onto her bed. Cirrus' hands ghost over your breasts as she strips your shirt off, revealing your bralette. Her lips begin to travel onto your neck and her fingers slowly trail underneath your bralette.
"C-Cirrus hold on," You press your hands against her shoulders
"Oh, am I moving too fast?" She asks
"A little," You sigh
"Okay, then show me what you want for right now," She says
Your hands slowly reach back for hers, putting then on your bare hips.
"You may touch what is already bare," You say, "You also may continue to kiss my skin."
She chuckles as she leans her head back into your neck, slowly kissing it. Your body stiffens as her lips and hands gently trail across your skin.
"May I?" She asks
You look down at her, "May you what?"
Your stomach knots as her fingers caress your stomach.
"Kiss you... Here?" She asks
You nod, smiling.
"You may," You answer
You gently gasp as Cirrus stands from the bed whilst still having you in her lap. She gently lays you on the bed. You watch her kneel on the floor. Her hair tickles along your skin as her lips explore your stomach.
"Ci-Cirrus," You sigh
You could feel Cirrus' fingers reach underneath and curl your waistband.
"Cirrus!" You sit up, pushing her away
"Whoa hey Stella, I'm sorry," She pants, holding her hands up, "I wasn't going to... I promise."
"I'm sorry," You sigh, "I panicked. Please don't be mad."
"I'm not," She says, "I wouldn't move further until you tell me to."
You sigh into a smile, your finger tracing Cirrus' jawline.
"Will you lay with me?" You ask
She nods, then stands as you gently pull her into her bed. The both of you lay in silence. Cirrus brushing your hair was making your eyes grow heavy.
"Sleep, princess," Her voice soothes you

POV: Catherine of Aragon catches you Singing
Tumblr media
You were in the "Ladies in Waiting" band (Reader can pick any instrument they choose)
Not once did any of you sing. You always claimed you weren't a singer.
You actually were a singer. You were too modest to admit it to anyone.
But, the thought of wanting to at least sing just to sing had crossed your mind many times.
So one day during a time-gap between the shows, you took to the stage and began singing No Way: Aragon's solo
Aragon coincidentally walks into the wing of the stage and just so happens to catch you reaching that high C
"Oh! Muy bien! I never sought you out as a singer! And that articulation leading up to that note... Fantastique!"
"Because... I'm not?..."
She didn't believe you. At all.
You couldn't argue with her: because she was a queen for starters, but she also caught you red-handed being a singer
But for her to tell you that you were an exquisite singer, made you feel giddy.

Lucky
Tumblr media
Pairing: Jennifer Walters x (Fem!) Reader
Summary: After Jennifer gets fired from the LA Law Firm, all she wants to do is hide from everyone. However, when she gets summoned to a family dinner she turns to her best friend: Nikki to accompany her. But, after she gets turned away, she turns to one of her other closest friends.
Warnings: Awkward budding romance, swearing, implied catcalling, Semi-NSFW
Key: Italics = Thoughts, +*+ = Time Skip, Bold/Indent = Text messages, +++/Italic Words = Flashback
Theme: Lucky - Jason Mraz/Colbie Caillat
A/n: Okay this has been sitting in my drafts for awhile...
-------------------------------------------------------------
*Jen’s POV* “Oh no!” You groan
“What? You get fired again?” Nikki asks
You shoot your head up to your best friend.
“Sorry...” She sighs
“Family Dinner right after I get fired,” You groan, “Please come with me...”
“I can’t, I have a date,” Nikki turns down the offer
“I will never forgive you for this...” Jen groans
“Oh don’t lose hope, maybe you should invite y/n,” Nikki suggests
Y/n Y/l/n?” She asks, “We haven’t even spoken to each other since college graduation and since she got that one job overseas...”
“Actually, I saw her at Legal Ease a couple weeks ago,” She says, “We talked and apparently she’s found a job here. I’m sure she’d love to see you again. Whether it’s to attend your family commotion or just spend time with you.”
After Nikki leaves to go on her supposed date, You sit on your couch as you debates whether to go at it solo or bring someone.
“Jen?” A voice calls over the phone
“Hey Y/n,” You let out a breathy chuckle, “Been awhile but umm... Listen... I got fired from my job because-”
“Because you were forced to use your new powers to protect the jury?” She asks, “Saw the news... Sorry about that Jen, so what is it you need?”
“I need someone to accompany me to my family’s dinner tonight...” You tense
Silence rolls over as you wait for Y/n’s response.
“Okay, are you picking me up or?...” She finally answers
“Oh thank god!...” You breathe, “I’ll come get you in about... 30 minutes?... Is that enough time?”
“Perfect,” She says
*Y/n’s POV* You give Jen the address to your place as you throw on a light jacket.
Hey, I’m here.
Cool, I’ll be down in a minute.
You walk down the stairs as you brush some of your hair aside as you walk up to Jennifer’s car.
“Hey Y/n,” She greets you with a half smile
“Hey yourself Jen,” You smile, buckling yourself in, “You’ve been doing okay?”
“No,” She sighs, beginning to drive, “I need to bring something over...”
“We can stop by the bakery up the street here,” You suggest, “See if there’s anything?”
Jen nods at your suggestion and parallel parks along the street. You were the one stepping out of the car first. You went around to the front of the car as you wait for Jen to meet you. However, you look over and see a car dashing by at the last second.
“Jen!” You grab her by the wrist
You yank her into you as the car simply rushes by.
“Ass,” You grumble, watching the car continue its way
You look down at Jen, still seemingly in shock from the whole ordeal.
“You okay?” You ask, brushing a strand of her curly hair back
She nods. Instead of letting her go, the both of you stay in each others’ embrace.
“Thanks,” Jen clears her throat, stepping to the side
The both of you walk into the bakery.
“Ahh a young couple!” The baker announces to no one but the two of you
You look to Jen and then down to your unknowingly interlaced fingers. However, neither of you questioned it as you walk up to the other side of the glass.
“What pie do you have out right now?” You ask
“A cherry pie just came out of the oven,” He says, “I’ll go grab it and pack it up.”
He leaves the both of you by your lonesome.
“So... Other than lawyer and she-hulk things, what else have you been up to?” You ask, trying to break the silence
“Nothing that would excite you,” Jen sighs, “There hasn’t been much since college.”
“Just hanging around with you already excites me enough,” You blurt
“What?” She asks
“What?” You ask back
Did I just say that out loud?
“Only one cherry pie?” The baker comes back
“Yep,” You clear your throat, “How much?”
“It’s on the house today ladies,” He smiles, handing you the boxed pie
“Thanks,” You smile, beginning to follow Jen out of the bakery
You place the pie in your lap as Jen continues driving to her family estate.
“So your entire family knows you’re a hulk right?” you ask
“Yeah why?” She asks
“Just wondering,” You say, “Normally the typical superhero has a secret identity and would often put them in danger...”
“It’s quite difficult to not announce it since your cousin is also a hulk,” Jen says
“That’s true,” You say, “Isn’t it difficult to keep control of? Since, Bruce had to take a long time to learn to cope with his hulk.”
+*+
The both of you stand awkwardly at her parents’ door. However, smiles swipe across their face as they see you.
“Oh, Y/n, so glad you’re able to join us tonight!” Her mother immediately hugs you
“Oh well, it was nice of Jen to invite me,” You sigh awkwardly
They help you and Jen with the pie and settle the two of you in the open seats at the table.
“I’ve been promoted to manager at the Best Buy!” Chet announces
Your eyes drift to Jen, her eyes dropping towards her plate. Everyone cheering him. Your hand drifts to Jen’s leg under the table and give her thigh a gentle squeeze. Instinctively she places her hand over yours.
“What have you been up to Y/n?” Jen’s mother asks
“Huh?” You ask, your eyes darting into her direction
“Have you’ve been up to anything?” She repeats her question
“Uhm... I recently opened a gallery downtown,” You chuckle nervously
You hear small cheers and back pats...
“We’ll have to come see it, how long is it there for?” She asks
“Awhile,” You say, “Don’t worry there’ll be many opportunities for you guys to go.”
+*+
After the dinner party, the two of you sit in Jen’s car, silence rolling in.
“Do you want to... Come over to my place for a drink?” Jen asks
“Sure,” You reply
You follow Jen up to her apartment.
“Sorry about the mess,” She says, opening the door, “Last minute decision to invite someone who isn’t Nikki over.”
“Ahh Nikki,” You say, “Hey, why couldn’t she go with you?”
“Claimed she had a date,” Jen sighs, falling into her couch
You take a seat next to her and place the wine glass on the nearly crowded coffee table.
“Sucks,” You sigh
“It just occurred to me, did you ever date?” Jen asks
“Only liked one person in the entirety of ever,” You say
“Wow, how did that work out?” She asks
“Her ambition to get her degree was the only thing on her mind,” You sigh, taking a swig of wine, “And yet, Never have I ever left her side, supporting her through it and through everything she went through.”
Jen sits next to you, oddly attempting to figure out why on what she was saying sounded familiar to her.
+++
“Jen, do you ever think about finding a certain someone to settle down with?” You ask
“Why would I need to?” She asks, her eyes glued to her laptop screen, “Being a lawyer is full time, I don’t have time to look for someone... Besides, dating a lawyer doesn’t sound like the adventure of a lifetime.”
“It’s not about the profession, it’s how you decide to spend time with that person,” You say
“Also, Lawyers make a decent amount if you know what I mean,” Nikki winks
“Nikk, it’s also not about how much money people make,” You groan in annoyance, “It mostly matters how much both parties are willing to give to the other.”
“Believe me I wouldn’t be giving too much effort,” Jen sighs
“I beg to differ,” You say, hoping only loud enough for you to hear
However, your eyes say it all: I’m in love with you Jennifer Walters... You crushed on her since you first met her in the dining hall after she stupidly didn’t have her wallet that moment in time. The only other person who seemed to notice was Nikki.
+*+
Jen’s POV You and Nikki were in your shared apartment, working on classwork .
“God I cannot focus,” You groan in frustration, rubbing your eyes
“Why don’t you take a break?” Nikki asks, “I’m sure Y/n is up for something.”
“Y/n? Why her in particular?” You ask
“Because I decided to last minute do this assignment,” Nikki lies, “Plus, if you didn’t hear me before, I'm sure Y/n is up for something. Especially when it comes to you.”
“What do you mean by ‘especially when it comes to you’, bit?” You ask
“Nothing in particular,” Nikki says, “Now go hit her up.”
Hey... Y/n?
Yeah?
You free? Nikki is forcing me to ask you if you wanted to grab food or something.
Don’t you have an important paper due tomorrow night?
Yes but like I said, Nikki is making me take a break. But, I never like being too far away from my laptop...
Tell you what, I’ll bring my stuff over, bring food over and we all chill and do work together?
Aren’t you working on some kind of art project though?
We don’t have to take the same classes just for us to come together. You do know that right?
That’s true...
Okay, I’ll be over with food soon.
Y/n’s POV Although the idea of having alone time with Jen was way more enticing than getting together like the usual, you didn’t want her to force herself away from her studies. Even if Nikki suggested it/forced Jen to take a break, you were going to get to see her either way.
+*+
You were in your college apartment, working on a project until you hear your phone go off.
Hey I need your help with something...
If it’s anything lawyer stuff, I don't know how much of help I can be.
Opposite, Nikki and I went out to Legal Ease and there are these two guys eyes us down and Nikki seems super out of it... Can you come save us?
Yeah, I’ll be there in a minute.
You throw on a light jacket and grab your keys as you rush out of the door, nearly forgetting to put on shoes. You hop into your car as you pull up a phone tracking app that you, Nikki and Jen all agreed to get in case either of you three would be in a pickle, and two of your closest friends were just in that situation. You follow the directions as fast, and legal as possible. You step into the bar and easily eye Jen and a nearly knocked out Nikki. However, in the midst of trying to look after her friend, she was also trying to evade two catcalling guys.
“Hey babe, sorry I’m late,” You hastily walk up to her
In the moment, you press your thumb against and slide your index finger under her chin as you pull her in for a kiss. Jen’s eye widen however leans into it to make it more believable.
“That damn project really beating my ass,” You sigh, “Oh, I’m sorry if I interrupted your horrible flirting game but try harder.”
Surprisingly they easily backed off. You were expecting them to become persistent. They immediately go back to where they were sitting, somber looks on their faces.
“Made sure they wouldn’t pull anything,” Pedro leans in
“Thanks Pedro,” You slide him a hefty tip, “Okay... Let’s get you two back to my place...”
+*+
You gently kick the door open as you struggle with Jen to place a now passed out Nikki into your bed.
“God I hope she doesn't puke in my bed,” You sigh, cracking your back
Jen places a trash bin on the floor, relatively in the area where Nikki’s head is.
“Works,” You say
You begin setting up the couch (which was not a pull-out couch) for Jen.
“Where will you sleep?” She asks
“I’ll makeshift a bed on the floor,” You say
“Nonsense, get in here,” Jen suggests
“Jen, I have literally slept in odder places,” You say
“Nope, no arguments with a future lawyer,” Jen yawns, “Now get in here...”
Not willing to argue with her, you awkwardly find your way onto the couch. You felt like a board.
“Friends can cuddle you know,” Jen chuckles
She gently takes your forearms as she pulls you right off the edge of the couch.
“Why are you so stiff?” She asks,” It’s only me.”
“Been a day,” You lie, “Also I just... At least... My other friends and I don’t cuddle...”
“So you’ve never cuddled with anyone before?” she asks
“More like I hugged my giant stuffed animals back home until I couldn't find them the next morning,” You chuckle
“You’re how old and you still cuddle with stuffed animals?” Jen asks
“What person at what age DOESN’T have stuffed animals to cuddle with?” You ask
“Okay point taken,” She rolls her eyes
“Come on, we got a long day tomorrow...” You sigh
“It’s Saturday,” She says
“Who cares?” You sigh, “I’m tired...”
Jen’s POV You open your eyes, half awake, eyes adjusting to the darkness. You look down at Y/n; laying soundly asleep below you.
--Y/n places her thumb and herr index finger under your chin as she pulls you in for a kiss. Your eyes widen however lean into it to make it more believable.--
You think about the moment Y/n kissed you. That was the first time you ever had someone kiss you. Let alone having it be from a female.
Was it real or?...
You wanted to see for yourself. You hoist your leg over Y/n’s lap to straddle her as you begin learning down closer to her face, cupping her cheeks as you begin closing the distance between your faces. Still being half asleep you weren’t sure how to kiss really. You felt a hand trail up your back and another hand cup your cheek. Your body jolted, your torso falling right on top of hers in the midst of your 3am makeout session.
+++
Y/n’s POV When Jen pulls herself out of her memories, she was about to turn to you however, you were no longer on the couch. She looks up further to see you in the kitchen, beginning to tidy up the place; taking the garbage and putting them in the trash, cleaning the dishes even if you didn’t use them, etc. In reality, you were trying to occupy your mind temporarily. However, you stop everything that you were doing when you felt hands latch onto your midsection.
“You make it easier when life gets hard,” Jen confesses
“What wasn’t easier was trying to convince you to go on a date with me.” You chuckle
“Then what was that makeout session that one night then?!” She asks
“Huh?” You ask, “Oh... I was merely half awake during that. But uh... I did want to follow up but...”
“But?” Jen asks
“Like you said back then, you didn’t believe you had time for a relationship so... I kinda just gave up... Not really gave up but... Put it aside for you so that you could focus on that degree,” You explain, “So, I just pretended like I forgot about it. When in reality, it was all I ever thought about. Even graduating, taking that one job overseas... I never stopped thinking about it...”
“Why didn’t you say anything sooner?” She asks
“I didn’t want it distracting you from your Law degree,” You confess
“And... What did you want?” She asks
You turn to face Jen; her hands still latched around your waist.
“I wanted... For you to see me the way I see you,” You say, “To be that willing to give someone a chance... Give me a chance...”
Jen looks at you... How was she so blind at the fact you were actually showcasing real feelings to her, yet you found a way to put them aside for her. You tense up when her palms come back around and open up, pressing firmly on your lower torso as she stands on her tip toes; attempting to reach your face.
“I appreciate you putting your feelings aside in order to support my life,” Jen says, “But, it’s my turn to put that aside to allow my real feelings come to fruition.”
“Wh-what do you mean Jen?” You ask
“I’ve liked you for a long time Y/n,” She says, “I just never really thought about it until that night...”

Chapter Key: Italic = Thoughts, +*+ = Time Skip, Bold/Indent = Text Messages
Chapter Theme: Focus - Allie X
----------------------------------------------------------------
The five of walk into the city’s most recommended bar; all eyes lay upon the five of you. However, the bar patrons erupt into a cheer. You all look up to some of the TVs that were now streaming the the performance.
“Is this what... Fame feels like?” Lark basks in the praise
“Hey, humble yourself before you get humbled,” You state, lightly pushing them by their shoulder
“Yeah yeah whatever,” They sigh, “But, we won guys! Let’s celebrate it!”
+*+
As you were conversing with fans and patrons alike, you feel your phone in the back of your pocket. You dismiss yourself from the conversation. You step outside onto the patio and look down at your phone.
From Wanda
You open your message inbox from her but immediately press it against your chest. Slowly but surely, you ease the pressure against your phone from your chest to get a better look at the image.
It was clear that Wanda was sitting in the bathtub, hinting that she was nude. But, wasn’t considered a nude if she was intentionally covering her bare chest with her arm.
She's going to be the end of me...
Hurry back to me ;)
Was the only caption.
Don’t need to tell me twice.
You immediately lock your phone and shove it back into your pocket: making your way back into the bar to leave.
“In a rush Strel?” Lark catches you
“Girlfriend calls,” You say
Lark smirks at you, knowing full well that it was just more than your girlfriend wanting you to come back. You didn’t even need to show her the text she sent you.
“Don’t. Say. A. Word,” You grit your teeth at your friends
“Well, don’t keep her waiting man! Go!” Poppy slaps your shoulder
Immediately you call for an uber to drive you back to the hotel...
+*+
As soon as you inserted the keycard into the the door lock, you walk into an empty, dark room.
Is Wanda still bathing?...
You look down at the crack at the bottom of the bathroom door; pitch black as well.
Hmm... Where is she?...
All of a sudden you feel fingers trickle themselves around your hips and link together at the arms.
“Kept me waiting long enough,” Wanda sighs against your shoulder
“Sorry, there was some traffic,” You sigh
She takes your hand and begins to trace the veins in your hands. She walks around to see you. As you put your hands around her, you felt satin...
“Wands... What are you wearing?” You ask
The both of you were basically in the dark, so you used your touch. You note on how well you could feel the curve of her waistline.
She smiles and bites her lip. She pinches at your flannel and begins walking backwards. Her eyes never leaving yours as she guides you towards the bed.
*Wanda’s POV* You seat yourself at the edge of the bed.
“Wands, if you wanted me to top you again, you could’ve... Just...”
Her voice trails off as she watches you reach for the knot keeping your robe together. Slowly you tug at one of the ends and slowly unravel the bow: the satin covering your legs begins to fall at your sides as you raise your legs up.
“W-Wands.. I...” Strelitzia’s mouth hangs agape.
You reach out to pinch her flannel and drag her down to crash your lips onto hers. You wrap your legs around her midsection for her to settle. You let out a light gasp as her arms coil around your hips, pressing your bodies against each other. You shove the robe off your arms and wrap your hands around her neck to deepen the kiss.
“Strelitzia...” You purr into her touch
Her free hand slowly trails up your torso to the outer curve of your breast.
“You missed- You missed a spot,” You sigh into a smirk, biting your lip
“Oh?” She asks, smirking back, “Where would that be?”
You take her free hand into yours, slowly bringing it right on top of your perked breast.
“Right there,” You smile
Your head tilts back as her hand closes around it. Strelitzia slowly lays you down on the bed as her bright hair begins to give off a faint glow; all you see before she places a kiss around your naval area.
“Wanda...” She sighs
You hiss as she kisses her way up your body.
*Strelitzia’s POV* Her taste...
As you slowly tease her as you kiss your way up her body. You slowly lift your head to look at her before burying your head between your hair and her body. You curl your finger under the hem of Wanda’s bra and lift it enough for the curve of her breast to be visible.
“HAh!” Wanda gasps as you place a kiss at the curve
You were nearly expecting something to go off. However, as you were continuing to kiss her breast, making your way to her nipple, nothing. Wanda reaches around her back and unhooks her bra. You felt her hand press against your shoulder as she sits up: sliding down to kneel in front of her.
“Wanda...” Your voice trails off as your eyes travel down to her bare chest, then back up to her green eyes
Without even veering your eyes away from hers, you wrap your arms around her hips and pull her to sit at the very edge of the bed; your chin resting meticulously in the crease between her breasts.
"Your heart’s beating really fast,” You smile
“I can’t help it if you’re the problem,” She smiles back
“Can’t be a problem if you’re enjoying it right?” You ask
Your hands trail up to her chest as your lips move toward her nipple. Your mouth enclosing around it; slowly giving it a kiss.
“Strel,” She sighs
You continue to feel her up and down as your mouth continues to taste her smooth skin. You pull her further towards you as she begins to wrap her legs around the middle of your back, her fingers coiling into your hair. One of your free hands travels up to her other breast and your hand clamps down on it.
“Strel,” She sighs again
Wanda grabs the collar of your flannel and yanks on it: kissing you. Her hands trail down your torso, slowly unbuttoning each button to your flannel. You pull her into you as she slides her fingers down your arms, stripping your flannel off. You pull away, only for a minute to take it off. Reattaching your hands right on her, connecting your lips once more.
*Wanda’s POV* Still holding Strelitzia by her lips and her neck, your hand trails down to her forearm; slowly trailing it down your body. Lower... And lower....
“Wanda,” She pulls away, gently pulling her arm away, “Are... Are you?...”
“More sure than anything,” You smile, pulling her arm back
Her fingers reach under the waistband of your panties. You twitch at the new feeling. Your grip on her forearm tightens as the palm of her fingertip finds its way to your clit.
“Hmm,” You you hum against Strelitzia’s neck
“How does it feel?” She asks
“So... So good,” You moan, smiling
“Then... How about this?” She asks
You felt her finger move lower until...
“AH!” You hiss in pain
“Shit!” She yelps
You felt her beginning to remove her finger entirely. Until you grip her forearm, prompting her finger to remain where it was.
“I’m... I’m sorry, I forgot to tell you that.. That...” You try to form words
“Wands,” She calms you
Her other hand gently caresses the small of your back.
“It’s okay,” She smiles, “Just... Try to relax as much as possible.”
You nod as you readjust yourself back into a comfortable position in Strelitzia’s embrace. However, there was no movement between the both of you. However, you watch her move her head to look at you in the eyes.
“I love you, Wanda,” She says
Your heart thumps in your chest.
“I.. I...” You begin
But your arms move faster than your mouth can form sentences. Your arms coil around her neck and you crash your lips against hers. You felt the familiar pain; letting out a groan and unknowingly bunching her hair on the back of her neck.
“Don’t worry baby,” She whispers into your ear, “I got you.”
Your grip on her ceases as she slowly pumps her finger in and out. Your hand reaches down to hers and you guide one of her fingers towards your wet entrance.
“It feels good now Strel,” You smile
She nods, and doesn't take her eyes off of you as you felt her second finger slowly insert itself into you.
“I got you, love,” She continues to whisper into your ear
“Strelitzia...” You moan right back into hers
Every thrust she gave, the knot in your stomach grew tighter.
“Mmm,” You moan
Your grip on her tightens. Your hand instantly grips at her forearm, making her slow down.
“W-Wait Strel....” You pant, slightly pushing her forearm back
“What’s wrong?” She asks, genuinely concerned
You don't answer her as you take her arm and slightly let out a groan when her fingers exit your dripping sex.
“Taste me,” You say
She chuckles as she begins to lift her fingers to her mouth. However, you take her hand and lick your residue off of her fingers.
*Strelitzia’s POV* You watch with half-lidded eyes as her tongue weaves between each finger; precise to clean your fingers off.
God is she experienced?.... That’s so fucking hot... She’s fucking hot...
“Use your mouth,” She says, smirking, “On me...”
She leans back into the bed, her elbows propping her up.
*Wanda’s POV* You use one leg to bring Strelitzia further forward. You could feel her breath sitting against your still-dripping sex.
“It’s hot when you tell me what to do,” She smirks
She wraps her arms under your thighs and leans to one side, softly giving it a kiss.
“God hurry up,” You sigh
“You can’t rush good music love,” She smiles
You reach down to your waistband however, Strelitzia’s hands grab you at the wrists.
“You told me what to do, Now I have to put in the work,” She says, “Relax baby.”
Her fingers hook around the waistband. You watch her lift them off of your legs and toss them over her shoulder. She adjusts your legs to sit on her shoulders as she draws herself into you. Closer... And closer... Until...
“Oh...” You moan
You felt a kiss... And another.... And another. You reached down to grab a fistful of hair in your hands. Strelitzia lets out a groan; vibrating against you.
“Strelitzia...” You sigh, throwing your head back against the bed
“God you taste....” Strelitzia attempts to find words
You lift your head to look down just as she looks up at you.
“I love you,” You finally bring yourself to say
She pulls her mouth away and stares up at you.
“I. Love. You.” You caress her cheek
Her head dives back down between your legs.
“I love you!...” You continue repeating until the knot in your stomach pulled; unraveling it
As you climb down from your high, you felt arms wrap around you. The feeling of being moved. You didn’t process everything until you felt Strelitzia put the both of you underneath the blankets.
*Strelitzia’s POV* You open your eyes randomly, waking up to the familiar surroundings of the hotel room. However, something felt different from it. There wasn’t another extra bed with two of your friends sleeping on the bed in question. The room felt a little colder than usual.
“Strelitzia?...” A familiar voice stirs
The familiar voice gets you to register where you were. You turn over to see Wanda Maximoff in the same bed as you. Her eyes looking up at you.
“Everything okay?” She asks
“Yeah,” You smile
You turn around and coil the brunette into your arms.
“I love you,” Wanda sighs
“I love you too,” You stare down at her
You lean down to her and give her a gentle kiss. Only pulling away when you hear frantic knocks at the door.
“Wands? Have you... Is... Strel in there with you?...” Lark’s voice comes from the other side
The both of you frantically hop out of the bed and search for each others’ clothes.
“Y-yeah I’m in here guys,” You say
“Holy shit Strelitzia Bates bagged Wanda Maximoff!” Lark begins to make “fun” of you
“For the record she bagged me months ago Lark,” Wanda smiles
“Okay, now you two hurry up! We’re going to leave around noon!” Pine chimes in
+Many Months Later...+
You pull up to the venue: drumsticks in one hand, your girlfriend holding onto your other hand.
“About time you two got here,” Lark smiles
“Shut up,” You sigh, “We’re here aren’t we?”
“Come on, we’re about to warm up!” They gesture to follow you
“Wands, you got your pass?” You quickly turn to her
She holds it up next to her face, smiling.
“Great,” You smile, giving her a quick kiss
“See you after our set,” You smile
She smiles and nods.
The five of you continued to play at the Banks’ theatre like always. However, began hosting more artists other than your own.
+*+
“Ahh, you’re here,” Rose smiles, seating you onto the lounge couch
“What’s... What’s this about?” You ask
You look around to your bandmates, but then see a man on the other end.
“Who... Who is this?” You ask, looking to your bandmates
“Silas Howl, Founder of Howl records,” Poppy states, “One of the best record labels in our state...”
Your eyes go wide...
“Mr. Howl, what do we owe this pleasure?” You ask
“I have come with a proposal,” He begins, “Considering how you ladies won a competition back in June, and your previous endeavors, I would like to sign you all to my record label and start an EP.”
The five of you look at him; in awe. Your band is going to get signed to a record label... And start making music.
You look around to your friends; all of them laying their eyes on you to make the decision. Certainty in their eyes.
“We would love to Mr. Howl,” You smile

Not only you have to deal with Acacius' self-insertion, you also now have to deal with his jealousy, as he wanted to be the one to accompany Lamina. Despite there are some secrets being exposed, you also finally get to understand the significance of Lamina gifting you her headscarf all that time ago...
Warnings: Swearing, Lamina's PTSD
Key: Italics = Thoughts, +*+ = Time Skip, Bold/Italics = Flashback
Theme: Call it Love - Picture This
A/n: Might make an epilogue or come up with ideas for Y/n and Lamina's future, idk yet :) School started back up for me and I'm about to be busy. But, I'll try to keep posting as much as possible!
Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 5 | Chapter 6
------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Lamina's POV* The both of you reach home but low and behold to neither of your surprises, Acacius was in the living room.
"We've been waiting here for you two for hours," Your pa states, "Where have y'all been?"
"Oh you know..." Y/n sighs, "When the 11th Victor of the Hunger Games personally wants to meet the both of you, peacekeepers will make sure of that.."
"What are you doing here Acacius?" You ask
"There was something I wanted to ask you, Lamina," He says, standing onto his feet, "I wanted to ask you if you would accompany me to the Paper Lanter-"
"I already asked Y/n to accompany me," You blurt out
Awkward silence...
"Oh... Okay," He says, attempting to take rejection calmly, "Then... I'll see you there anyway..."
He trudges his way out to the door.
"Hope you two have fun," He says before making his leave
+*+
You and Lamina attend another hoedown, the night before the Lantern Festival.
"You guys sure do like having these things," You sigh
"Well, yeah," Lamina says, "When we have our Lantern Festival, it's a way to honor loved ones and close friends who aren't here anymore."
"Do you... Miss Treech?" You ask, curiously
"Here and there," She says, "He wasn't much but he was from home..."
"I could see how protective he was over you when you were all there, in the zoo," You say
The both if you head to the dance floor...
*Acacius' POV* You watch Lamina and Y/n dance... The look on Lamina's face... You remember when Lamina looked at you like that...
"What's so special about Y/n?" You ask, mostly to yourself
"Right? Like... Lamina was begging to hang out with you before the 10th games," One of your friends feeds your questioning self, "It's like... She shows up all of a sudden and now Lamina is all over her than you."
"I don't even recognize her," Another friend chimes, "Don't think she's from around here... You don't think?..."
Was Y/n Capitol?...
"Only one way to find out," You say
*Y/n's POV* "Lamina, may I have a dance?" Acacius comes up to the both of you
You look at Lamina and could see the look on her face. One of being uncomfortable...
"Read her face Acacius," You say, "She doesn't want a dance."
"I wasn't asking you, I was-"
"No, Acacius," She says, "I don't want a dance with you."
"What is it about her?" He gestures to you
You instinctively push Lamina behind you, "What is it about me? I can read when Lamina doesn't want something from you."
"One single dance wouldn't kill you Lamina," He says
"She already gave you her answer," You say, firmly, "Now get lost..."
"I... I have been there for Lamina's family for the longest time!" Acacius snaps, "What does Lamina even see in you that makes you is special enough for Lamina to ask you to the Lantern Festival, and give you her headscarf?!"
Unknown eyes begin to lay upon the three of you...
"That's a very good damn question!" You yell back, looking down at your tied wrist, "I still don't even understand why she gave it to me!"
"Wow..." He sighs, "You're even dumber than you look. You get a headscarf from the girl I love, and you don't even understand the significance behind it. Why is that?"
"I..." You begin to waver
You were trying to scramble an answer together that wouldn't reveal where you moved from...
"Tell us... All of 7 the truth, Y/n Y/l/n," He says, a sinister smile beginning to form on his mouth, "Why don't you understand a very old District 7 tradition?"
You could see his friends beginning to chant the words: tell us.
"Because I'm not from here! I'm from the capitol!" You yell, snapping
Silence...
Your eyes widen... But Acacius smirks... Your heartbeat thrums against your skull... You look around at all of the faces looking at you... Now that your secret was out.
"A capitol scum!!" One of his friends points out
Acacius grabs your collar...
Panic sets in as you attempt to find a way to get him to let go of you. From the corners of your eyes, his friends surround you; preventing any escape routes.
"Acacius stop!" Lamina grabs his wrist, "She was my mentor! She was the one who got me home!"
"This... Twig right here?" He lets go of your collar, beginning to laugh, "You have to be joking."
You roll your eyes at the nickname...
"She isn't," You say
"You keep your trap shut. Lamina, I don't understand what makes her so special in your eyes," He says
"She's special, is because she isn't like the other people from the capitol," Lamina explains, "She's kind, went above and beyond for me, and she is the only person that understands my trauma. I..."
"You what Lamina?" He asks
Silence falls over the venue as everyone awaits for a response from their Victor...
"I love her Acacius!" You yell
*Y/n's POV* Lamina... Loves me?...
Acacius lets go of you, and Lamina immediately pulls you into her embrace.
You feel the same way about her. However, you were worried that everyone in 7 would see her differently from the most amazing girl she is.
You watch Lamina's upper body rise and fall with giant, exaggerated pants as she attempts to compose herself. However, whispers and murmurs became evident...
"Lamina how could you love someone from the capitol?!" He asks, "They do nothing but ridicule us and send us into that arena where most of us don't come home!"
"Y/n got me home!" Lamina yells back, "She kept me fed in that cage, she saved my life when the arena was bombed, she visited me every night when she had the chance; even with a broken leg she made the effort. To top it off, she said that she'd switch places with me in the games, risking her life."
"I would have done the same," He says
"Then why didn't you volunteer to go in Treech's place?!" She asks
The silence had become loud in the event space...
"That's what I thought," She sighs
"But, I still don't get why you love her," He says, "She's capitol..."
"Her mother is from District 9," Lamina adds
"Still makes her half-capitol," He says
Enough already...
You watch them continuing on bantering back and forth about you being half-capitol...
Lamina doesn't deserve this...
*Lamina's POV* "I don't care if Y/n is from the capitol Acacius," You say, "It doesn't change the fact of how much I love her."
"Just wait, she'll confess one day that she never really loved you," He smirks, "That it was all an act."
"She won't... If she didn't cares he wouldn't have left her capitol life behind just to be with someone like me. Acacius, if I ever see you, or your friends on my family property ever again, or try to even as much as lay a single one of your fingers on Y/n, I will lodge my axe into your head," You growl
You watch as Acacius and his friends begin making their quick exit. You didn't feel good that you had to make a threat like that... But, you didn't like how he attempted to insert himself back into your life after being absent since coming home a Victor, as well as coaxing Y/n into revealing her half-capitol status.
"Come on Y/n, let's go ho- Y/n?" You look up, but Y/n is nowhere to be seen
"Y/n?!" You call out for her
You run out of the space and into the cool, dark night. Eyes settle on you. But, you didn't care, you only wanted to find Y/n and go home...
+*+
You were losing track of time... But, you were growing tired by the second... You force yourself to return home.
You open the door, you hear your pa's voice, but he stands once he sees you and your distressed state.
"What's the matter darlin'?" He asks
"Acacius isn't welcome here anymore pa," You try to not let out a sob
But, your pa knows your emotional side all too well.
"You can explain that to me later, anyone who makes my daughter cry is dead to this family," He says, "Now where is Y/n?"
"I don't know, I've searched everywhere," You say, sniffling
"Hmm," He sighs, "Sleep on it... You can search tomorrow first thing. Or if you're patient enough, Y/n will come back to you."
You nod as you make your way up the stairs to get ready for bed.
*Y/n's POV* You find yourself at a communication station at the center of town, immediately dialing your mother.
"Hello?" Her voice answers
"Mom..." You stifle a cry
"Y/n baby... What's wrong?" She asks, "I thought you were enjoying 7."
"I am mom..." You sniffle, "But..."
You pause...
"But?..." She brings you back
"But, I realize how much they really hate people like me..." You say
"Honey, you're half district," She says, "Besides, all of the letters you sent me... Were all about your budding relationship with Lamina, and how much you've been learning about her culture, and how much you actually like it."
"Yeah... I was hoping I'd keep my status as a capitol-born person in the ground but...." You sigh, continuing on trying to hide your tears, "Didn't really work... Got into a heated argument..."
"Now, Y/n, listen to me," Your mother coos to you
You take a deep breath and compose yourself... Listening.
"You're in the same boat I was when I moved to the capitol," She begins, "Even if I had moved there years ago, there will always be some people that will never accept me. But, there will always be a handful of people who had accepted me. Now, I know you found a handful of people that will never accept you... But, you found the people who love you, and accept you, regardless."
"I did but... I'm worried that their community will see them differently now..." You say
"Y/n, how long have you been in 7?" She asks
"A long while," You answer
"And when was the last time you were beaten because you were for the capitol?" She asks
"Just day one," You answer, "I was close earlier tonight..."
"See? They were warming up to you from the get-go," She says, "Now, don't let some rag tag district people keep you from earning the life you want."
You take a deep breath, "Thanks mom."
"Now get back home, it's late," She says
You hang up the phone... You lean back into the chair and try to compose yourself.
*Lamina's POV* You wake up screaming again... You try to muffle your screams into your pillow as you try to find your breathing pattern.
"H-hey," Y/n's voice echoes
It's... It's in my head...
"Lamina," Y/n's voice calls out to you, but muffled
Make it stop.. I'm so tired... Everything hurts...
"Lamina," Her voice calls out to you again, but firmer, and more distinguishable
You feel something on the top of your hand... You stop trying to find a breathing pattern and look over to see Y/n kneeling at your bedside...
"Y/n?...." Your voice trembles, your hand reaching out to her cheek, "Are you real?..."
Though it had only been a mere handful of hours, not having Y/n nearby you believed your nightmares were real and you were waking up more frequently throughout the night... You didn't even know what time it was.
Y/n gently takes your hand and places it against her cheek.
"I'm real, Lamina," She sighs, "I'm one hundred percent real..."
You begin crying as she wraps her arms around your hips and pull you into her embrace. You shove your head into her shoulder and sob, bundling parts of her shirt into your hands. You begin to lean back against your pillow, but not letting go of her.
"Will you stay?..." You ask, in between sobs
"As if you needed to ask," She smiles, "Besides, you have yet to let go of me..."
She gets underneath the covers and you cling to her...
"Can't help it if you just left without notice..." You argue, sniffling
"I'm sorry Lamina," She sighs, "I guess.. I was worried of how people would view you if you were to love someone like me... From the capitol."
"If you didn't hear me, I don't care if you're from the capitol and I sure as hell don't care what people think of me in this town," You say
+*+
When you wake up the following morning, you slowly open your eyes, half-prepared to be greeted with an empty bed. However, you look up and see Y/n still there, in the same position she got into the bed. You sigh in relief and prop yourself on your elbow and watch as Y/n sneaks closer into your embrace.
You brush some hair out of Y/n's face as she continues to sleep. You lean down and gently place a kiss on her forehead. You weren't about to have your pa walk in and your lips are connected to Y/n's.
"If you wanted a kiss, you could have just asked," Y/n's voice groans
"Well, I didn't want my pa to walk in on that," You chuckle, "Did you sleep okay?"
She nods, "Did you?"
She tucks a loose strand of hair behind your ear, brushing your jawline with the back of her fingers.
"I only woke up once," You say, "But, that was mostly because I thought you were gone again..."
"Me?" She asks, smiling, "Never. Besides, there's no other people here that would house me, and you were clinging to me the entire night."
+*+
You write the names; Treech and your mother onto the lantern.
"The only two people that cared about me that aren't here anymore," You clarify, "Here, your turn."
She takes the makeshift pen and writes her pa's name.
"Only one I care about that isn't around anymore," She tells you
The both of you add a couple of minimal designs onto the still flat lantern. But begin to assemble it to its three-dimensional form. She scoops her hands under yours as you two lift the lantern into the air as the sky began to illuminate with them. You lean back into Y/n's torso as the both of you watch the sky.
"Thank you," Y/n says
You turn to look at her.
"For what?" You ask
"Asking me to accompany you to... This Lantern Festival and not... Acacius," She answers
"Well, of course," You say, chuckling, "Why would I invite him? After what happened last night? No way, he's dead to me, and to my family."
"I don't know... I just..." She attempts to find the right words, "He just seemed so adamant that he'd go with you or something..."
"Please, he was absent after I got home. He also had no right to poke at you the way he did," You say, "I prefer your company over his."
"You do?" She asks
You nod, "Why else would I want to bring you around 7?"
"Here I thought it was to get me acquainted with the district," She chuckles
"Oh, darlin', you're already acquainted with 7," You say, smiling
*Y/n's POV* She called you darling... In her District 7 accent.
You don't know why but it made your heart flutter.
"Well, I prefer yours too," You say, "Especially when you were in the capitol."
*Lamina's POV* Y/n was the best thing that ever happened to you when you were forced to fight other people your age to the death. She kept you well fed, gave you company that you didn't know you needed at the time, would be willing to insert herself into a dangerous situation if it meant that you'd live, and left her capitol life behind to find you...
She is everything to you.
"Do you want to know the symbolism behind me giving you my scarf?" You ask
*Y/n's POV* You look down to your wrapped wrist. It was one of your treasured items that you had always taken around with you.
"Is it a... Momento of yours so that I wouldn't forget you?" You guess
"Close," She says, "When a girl from 7 gives someone their scarf... It's them confessing that she has feelings towards that person."
You think back to the night before Lamina's games...
That long ago?!...
"I get that you confessed your love for me but... I'm just now being told that you had feelings for me since that night?" You ask
You couldn't help but crack a smile...
"I... Wasn't sure if you felt the same," She says
"Well, the capitol sure doesn't have any cute traditions like 7 does..." You say, "But, when someone from the capitol falls for someone... They attempt to do anything that would impress that specific person."
*Lamina's POV* Y/n's gift when you arrived in the capitol...
Y/n cooking you a meal after being put into the capitol zoo...
Y/n Y/l/n, who was from the capitol was trying to impress you... Someone from the districts.
"Well, in the beginning I was trying to make a good impression, "She says, "But over time... I... Just kept... Falling... I guess... For you- that is."
"Well, we were falling together and we didn't know it," You smile
This time...
Your pa or Acacius wasn't going to stop either of you...
There wasn't the social status difference...
There were no fears of death...
There was certainly no cage keeping the both of you separated from one another...
You gently press your forehead against Y/n's...
"Do you love me? Real, or not real?" You ask
"... Real," Y/n answers, smiling
You place your hands on her shoulders and begin closing the space, however, you let out a gasp when Y/n jolts forward, quickly closing that space and wraps her arm around your waist to keep you from falling backward. You grab the back of her hair.
"Lamina," She sighs
She slightly pulls away to attempt to catch her breath however, you weren't finished. You never lost hope that Y/n would confess her love to you.
You finally pull yourself away to breathe, but your hands remained on her shoulders, and your foreheads pressed against one another.
"You have no idea how long I've wanted to do that," You sigh into a smile
"Oh, I have an idea alright," She smiles, "Because I have had the same idea for a long time."
Your mouth curves into a smile; to the point where your cheeks hurt from smiling for so long. But, you didn't care. You finally snagged the girl that saved your life and brought you home.

Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 5 | Chapter 7
------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Y/n's POV* "What's a Hoedown?" You ask
"How have you not heard of a Hoedown, you've been here for how long?" Acacius makes fun of you
"She hasn't lived here long enough son," Her father clarifies, "Lamina, bring Y/n."
Lamina turns to you as she excitedly rushes up to her room. Before you follow after her, you take one last look at Acacius; giving you a death glare before making his leave.
You catch up to Lamina and see her trying to figure out a decent hairstyle.
*Lamina's POV* You look off to the side and see Y/n making her way towards you; a blush swiping across your face as she does.
"May I?" She asks
You let your hands fall to your sides as she reaches up and begins braiding your hair.
"How did you learn how to braid hair?" You ask
"Listen, when your mother teaches you how to braid and weave bread dough, you can pretty much braid anything," She explains, "I felt dumbfounded at the amount of things I've learned from my mother teaching me cooking, that I can apply them to daily life."
You could feel every brush from Y/n's fingers as they weave between the strands of your hair.
"Is there anything to tie off your hair?" She asks
You reach towards your little desk and grab a few hair ties and hold it over your shoulder. She takes it and begins tying your hair.
"Done," She says
You turn to look at Y/n; bringing her wrist up to your face. You begin to untie the headscarf she kept on her wrist and begin to wrap it around her neck.
"I'm still surprised you kept this thing," You say
"Well, it was the only thing that I had from you," She says, "There hadn't been a day where I didn't think of you."
Your lips drop slightly, but you attempt to hide your blushed cheeks with your hair.
"It was too bad that I didn't have anything to give you in return," She says
"Well, you're here permanently, are you?" You ask, looking up at her
You nod.
"So I got the physical form of you rather than the memory of you," You smile
You make the final knot and your eyes shift to the door, and then back up to her. In a quick motion you place a kiss onto her cheek.
"You ready?" You clear your throat
She nods, unable to form words.
You gently pat her on the shoulder, smiling as you brush past her, heading back downstairs, in which Y/n follows behind you.
+*+
The both of you head into the market square that had been turned into an open space. Many people from the district nearly crowd the entire space.
"Wow..." She sighs
"Never been to one of these kinds of shindigs?" You ask
"Nope," She says, "No one's ever had the kindness to invite me either."
"That's unfortunate," You sigh, "Come on!"
You take Y/n's hand and bring her into the crowd. As you allow the music to take your feet and dance, you watch as Y/n attempts to try to follow suit, but you could see her anxiety taking over.
"Hey, Y/n/n," You say
You take a step towards her. You cradle her cheek into your hand.
"Eyes on me, only me," You tell her, half-smiling, "Don't worry about everyone else."
Your hand moves to her shoulder as you continue to dance. However, dial it back so she can catch up to your speed.
Your eyes widen as she grabs your hand and lifts it over your head; spinning you. You could tell how her anxiety was continuing to leave little by little.
"You're getting the hang of it," You smile
The music began to quicken its pace. The both of you were beginning to sync to each other.
*Y/n's POV* Though you were able to see everything and what you were doing with Lamina, your body moved on its own.
*Lamina's POV* After many more spins and your hopeless romantic eyes staring at Y/n, you lightly gasp as she pulls you into her and leans forward as you lean back; holding you by your hips just as the band ends their song. You look up at her as the audience applauds the performing band. Y/n un-dips you, however, doesn't move her arms from your hips.
"You're not bad for a girl from the capitol," You smile
"And for a girl from the districts, you never cease to surprise me," She smiles back
The both of you dance for the longest time, losing track of time. However, the both of you hear yelling and angered voices throughout the space. Next thing you both knew was that there were people rushing past the both of you.
"Y/n!" You yell, trying to reach out for her
She tries to reach out for you as well. However, the more you attempted to reach for each other, the further you two got. You manage to push yourself out to one of the side exits, but you find yourself all alone, trying to find Y/n, and the way home. You gasp as Y/n grabs you by the hips and pulls you behind a wall, and into her, very closely; casually dressed peacekeepers patrolling the streets to catch any stragglers. You look at her, as she looks at you. She bring s finger to her lips. You nod.
The both of you make your way through the dark as peacekeepers continue to patrol the streets.
When the both of you make it to the outskirts of the main square, you gently tug at her arm, prompting you to stop.
"That was... Something," You pant, catching your breath
"That was... Exhilarating," Y/n smiles
The both of you stifle into a laugh.
"You... Really are something Y/n/n," You smile, "I still love the way you're willing to protect me."
"You are too," She smiles back, "Doesn't matter what the circumstances are, I'll always protect you."
+*+
The both of you walk into the house and see Acacius helping your pa in the kitchen.
"Hey pa... Hi Acacius," You awkwardly wave, "What are you doing here?"
"Making up for lost time and helping you guys out in any way I can," He says, smiling, "Hungry?"
"No," You say, "I'm tired so I'm going to turn in."
You subtly grab Y/n's hand and make your way up the stairs.
+*+
You wake up with a scream. You clutch at your heart. You hear a handful of rushed footsteps. Y/n was the first to get to your doorframe before Acacius pushes her out of the doorframe.
"I'm here Lamina," Acacius kneels at your bedside
*Y/n's POV* You watch as Acacius basically take your job. He turns his head towards you; a smug smirk swipes across his face. You walk back to your room...
Throughout the night, you could hear Lamina let out short periods of screams... But Acacius' voice follows... However, even after Acacius manages to put her back to sleep, she'd always wake up a few hours later...
"Y/n..." Lamina's voice calls out for you, "Y/n!...."
You get up from your bed and make your way to Lamina's room.
"Let me do it..." You yawn
"No, I can handle it," Acacius says
"She has been waking up every few hours," You sigh, "And I'm the one she's been calling... So if you want Lamina to get a good night's sleep, let me be the one to comfort her..."
You could tell how much he wanted to argue with you... But, you could see the gritting of his teeth as he reluctantly gets out from Lamina's bed and cautiously watches you get into the bed. Lamina opening her eyes slightly and immediately clinging to you.
+*+
The same thing would continue every night..
By day, Acacius would stay; helping out Lamina's father, or Aster every single chance he got; barely giving you anything to do.
By night, he's the one attempting to comfort Lamina instead of you... It was like he was attempting to replace you entirely...
I don't even understand what his problem is with me...
You've been in 7 for a long while, and until that day in the market, he now just shows himself back into Lamina's life...
But, no matter how many nights pass, Acacius had never been able to get Lamina to fully fall asleep after her nightmares. You always brought your tired ass into Lamina's room, having to kick out Acacius.
"He's kind of apart of the family," Lamina explains to you, "If my pa hadn't told you, he was helping him out while I was away."
Her father took him to the market to sell stuff and watch Aster, finally giving you and Lamina some time together.
"I see," You sigh, looking off into the distance, "Yeah, he told me that before..."
Where would I fit into this?...
"But, there will be one thing that he'll never understand," Lamina says
"What's that?" You ask, looking at her
"He'll never understand the trauma I experienced in that arena," She says, placing her hand over yours, "You were doing everything you could do to make sure I have the least traumatizing experience and get me home. So, having you here... With me has made these nightmares bearable. You're the only one who understands what I went through."
"Albiet it was from the other side of the games," You sigh, "But, if I can tell you something... Promise not to laugh?"
"Always," She says
"When you mercy killed that boy from 2... Everyone in that room looked away in horror," You begin, "I can only imagine how tough that must have been for you... But, I was the only one who looked; watched everything happen. Not because it was 'entertaining'. It wasn't even that in the slightest. It was because I didn't want you to experience that alone. Even when it was so late at night; when everyone went home, or passed out, I never left my desk. Even though I wasn't necessarily with you in that arena, I wanted to make sure that you weren't alone. I didn't want to leave you alone. Even sending you food, I had wished it was my mothers cooking."
Lamina's hand never moves away from yours as she scoots herself closer; where your arms are brushing together. She leans her head onto your shoulder.
"Every gift you sent me, I felt that you were there with me," She says, "I appreciate your effort on trying to keep me alive."
You felt her sighing into a smile.
"You also fighting for your life was one thing," You say, "I know it wasn't the most fun thing to do but it caught all of us in that room off guard. They all saw you as this 'crybaby' because you wouldn't stop crying the entire time. But,
"If I can also tell you something, promise not to laugh?" She asks
"Always," You say
"When I fought Coral and Mizzen, I wasn't even aware of what I was doing," She tells you, "It was like I blacked out, and yet I saw what I was doing... I didn't process what I was doing until the boy from 4 looked at me... In a way I'd never forget."
"How so?" You ask
"It was like his eyes were asking, 'How?' and 'I don't want to die here...'," She explains, "That's what my nightmares had been about..."
"That boy from 4 huh?..." You say
You felt her head nod...
"I'm sorry you had to go through all of that," You sigh, "But. I was surprised on how well you fought those two off. I was really scared for you for a second. But, it was like you had some kind of 'instant kill' switch in your brain."
"Just the basic survival instincts kicking in," She says, "Trust me, I was terrified."
"I'm sure you're going to be terrified for the rest of your life," You say, "I sure would be if I was in your shoes in that arena."
"Only you understand that," She says
+*+
You and Lamina walk back home however, panic sets into the both of you when you see two peacekeepers at the door.
"There they are, you two need to come with us," One of them says
The both of you pause... You instinctively push Lamina behind you.
"If you two didn't hear, the victor of the 11th games is here today, and specifically requested the victor of the 10th games, and her mentor, present," He explains
Not willing to put up a fight, the both of you walk between the peacekeepers as they walk you to wherever the meeting was going to be held. You recognize your surroundings...
The Reaping Square...
However, walk into the building.
"Mags Flanagan, Victor of the 11th Hunger Games," The peacekeeper announces
From the other side of the room, a girl with curly brown hair turns at the sound of her name. She wore a green jump suit, and above her right breast; fish hook-like badges and the District 4 insignia. You stop in your tracks, having Yn bump right into you. She looks at you, however, follows the direction of where your eyes were looking. She stops to look too.
"Lamina, Victor of the 10th Hunger Games," The peacekeeper announces once more before leaving the room
The both of you cautiously watch Mags approach the both of you... However, the look on her face wasn't a threat... More like... Observing.
"I was a little worried that the victor before me didn't exist," She says
"What do you mean?" Y/n asks
"I wanted to do some research of the games before mine: see how the victor before me won," She explains, "But, there was no footage at all. The only thing I knew was that there was a victor from 7."
*Y/n's POV* Did... Gaul get rid of the 10th games footage?....
"So, I'm glad I get to see her in the flesh," Mags slightly smiles, "As well as the mentor who had made her a victor."
Lamina nods as she sits down, staring into the blank space.
Does Mags know that Lamina is the one who killed both tributes from 4?....
You were worried that Mags would find out
"Tell me, how did you win?" Mags asks
Lamina says nothing...
"H-hello?" She calls out to Lamina, trying to make eye contact
"She won by staying up on the beam that was a result of rebel bombings," You pipe up, "Any tributes that came up to attack her, she fended them off."
Mags nods, leaning back into the chair she was sitting in. You look down at Lamina, from underneath the table, her hand was bunching parts of her pants. You place your hand on her shoulder; her tense body slowly faltering into a relaxed state.
*Lamina's POV* You and Y/n wave off Mags as she boards the train to head to District 8.
"That was... Something," Y/n sighs
The both of you begin to walk back home...
"I hope to never do that again," You say, "I was worried she would figure out the fact that I killed the tributes from 4."
"In your defense, you all were just trying to survive," She says
"Hey, jumping to a more lighter topic, there has been something I've been wanting to ask you," You stop, turning to face her
"Sure, what's up?" She asks
"In a few days... There's this... Okay, before I even go on, here we have this festival called the Paper Lantern Festival," You explain, "I would like you to accompany me to it."
"As... Like... A date?" She asks
You pause...
"... Yeah, something like that," You throw up an awkward smile
She smiles, "I would love to, Lamina."
She steps forward and kisses your cheek. She gently grabs your hand and begins to tug you back to the neighborhood. You were following behind but try to process that Y/n finally gave you a kiss for once.

Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 6 | Chapter 7
------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Lamina's Fathers' POV* When you opened your eyes, you were surprised at how much sleep you had gotten...
Did Lamina have a nightmare last night?
You walk across the hall and nearly jump out of your pajamas... Your daughter... In the arms of Y/n... You were about to wake them up to have them explain to you what was going on.
But, you noted how they still had their pajamas on. And you could tell how Lamina had a chunk of Y/n's shirt bunched in her hand.
You decided to leave it be.
*Lamina's POV* You open your eyes. For the first time you didn't wake up in the middle of the night; screaming and crying. You felt well rested, you look up at Y/n; still fast asleep. You prop your elbow up and look down at her.
Watching her chest rise and fall...
Taking in her features...
Do all... Capitol citizens look as gorgeous as she does?...
She stirs...
"Mmmm," She groans, "Hey."
She smiles.
"Hey," You smile back, "You sleep okay?"
She nods, "Did you?"
You nod, "For the first time in a very long time."
"Good," She sighs into a smile
The sounds of the birds from the other side of the window pane filled the silence of the room. You watch as her head shifts from looking up at the ceiling, and over to you.
"Thank you for staying with me," You say
"Always," She replies
+*+
The both of you change out of your pajamas and begin heading into the market to bring some food home for the week.
"I wish your ma could visit us and bring her famous cooking with her," You say, scouring the food
"you know I can make them right?" Y/n asks, placing a few items into the basket, "I won't be able to replicate it to the bone. But, she taught me every one of her recipes. No recipe had ever been forgotten."
"Aaaand you're telling me this now?" You stand, turning to face Y/n
"You never asked," She leans towards your face, smirking
"Point taken," You smile
Can I kiss you?...
But, before your body told itself to lean forward to make the move, Y/n moves onto the next business.
Damnit...
"Lamina?" A familiar, but not voice calls your name
You turn towards the direction of that voice.
"Lamina! I can't believe it's you!" The familiar boy walks up to you and hugs you
"A-Acacius?!" You push him away from you, looking up at him
You awkwardly smile as he composes himself. But then his direction turns to Y/n.
"Lamina, who's this?" He points to her
*Y/n's POV* "Y/n Y/l/n," You awkwardly wave
"Huh," He says, but his attention draws itself back to Lamina, "What are your plans tonight?"
"Well, I was going to go off and go to the spot with Y/n and-"
"Then why don't you and I go?" Acacius asks, "Just like old times?"
Your heart sank...
'Just like old times'?... Damn maybe I'm not so special after all...
"I-I actually would like to bring Y/n and only-"
"It's fine... Lamina," You force yourself to say, "I'll... Meet you back at the house."
You turn your back to her; knowing her eyes burning your back as you make your way out of the market and back to the house.
+*+
Lamina's father stacks logs of wood and turns his head as he hears your footsteps.
"Hey Y/n! Wh-where's Lamina?" He asks
"Some.. Guy from Lamina's younger days randomly ran right into her and inserted himself into our plans after our trip to the market," You explain, "So, I didn't want to seem rude so I let Lamina off."
"Acacius," He immediately says, "He was the one helping me out with Aster here when Lamina was dragged off for the games last year... But, hadn't come back since she came home."
"I see," You sigh, "Well, I'm back... So.... How about I cook tonight? Been taught by the Capitol Academy's best, and so happened to be the head chef."
"Give it your best shot kiddo," He motions for you to head inside
*Lamina's POV* The both of you meticulously climb the tree, finding that specific branch that you and Y/n sat upon...
"You've gotten better since we've done this last," Acacius pants, "Maybe I should get on your exercise routine."
He chuckles. You awkwardly chuckle.
You didn't know what to say to initiate a conversation... You haven't seen him in a long time.
"What were the games like?" He asks
You tense up... Your awkward smile drops into a frown.
"Whoa... Too sensitive?" He asks, "I'm sorry."
He gently places his hand over yours, which made you look down at it.
"I'm glad you were the one to come home," He confesses
Your head shoots up back at him, eyes slightly narrowed at him...
+*+
When you arrived back home, through the windows were either dark or simply lit.
Is everyone asleep already?
You walk up to the front door, attempting to (but failing) to open the door.
"Hey pop," You call out to him
"Hey kiddo, how was your reunion with Acacius?" He asks
"It was... Fine," You force yourself to say
"Just 'fine'?" He asks
"It was awkward," You confess, "I... I don't know how to feel about it. It all just... Happened so fast."
Your eyes scan the room for Y/n.
"Where's Y/n?" You ask
"Not sure," He replies, "But, there's something for you keeping warm on the stove. She made sure that I wouldn't touch it. Said it was specifically for you."
Y/n cooked?... And I missed that?!
You immediately dart into the kitchen and see a covered pot. You open it and gasp...
The dish... She made my first night in the capitol zoo...
You grab the nearest utensil and take a spoonful of the meal...
Just like trying it for the first time, it hit you all at once....
You take another bite...
Then another... Tears streamed down your face as you savor the taste... Reminiscing the time back in that zoo.
And another...
Until you found yourself unable to finish it...
You wrap the rest of the meal and go upstairs; hoping to find Y/n... Making your way into the spare bedroom...
"Y/n?" You call out to her
No response..
But you assumed that she was already asleep... You don't attempt pry at her and retreat back into your own room.
+*+
You woke up with a scream... You waited for Y/n to rush through the door... But, it took her longer than usual to reach your door.
"The usual?" She asks
You nod.
She sighs and makes her way across your room and into your bed. You fit yourself between her arms and take a few deep breaths before falling asleep...
+*+
When you wake up the following morning, Y/n was already out of bed... You get yourself dressed and meet your pa downstairs.
"Mornin' kiddo," Your pa greets you
"Hi pa," You sigh, "Where's Y/n?"
"Already left for the market," He says, "Nearly used all of our ingredients, so she decided to head out to get us more."
I missed her cooking again?!...
+*+
You walk to the market, hoping to catch Y/n and help her finish shopping to finally watch her cook her ma's famous meals.
"Lamina!" Acacius' voice calls out to you
However, you don't register his voice and make your way to Y/n who was across the way. However, before you could even take two steps, you felt a hand gently grasp yours.
"Lamina," Acacius smiles, "There's something I want to show you."
"Acacius, I'm actually in the middle of something," You tug at your wrist
He reluctantly lets go and you beeline it for Y/n.
*Y/n's POV* As you were trying to find some decent spices, you felt a pair of arms wrap around your midsection. You turn your head and see Lamina burying her head against your shoulder.
"Hey," You coo, turning to her, "What's the matter?"
"I've missed you," She tells you, "You headed here without me..."
"I... I didn't want you to worry about anything," You say
"Well, considering I missed out on watching you cook twice I would say I'm pretty worried," She says
You chuckle as she does.
"Tell you what, since you're already here, do you want to help me finish shopping and we'll cook together?" You offer
She instantly nods as she wraps her arms around your free one and practically drags you.
+*+
Lamina practically pushes you into the kitchen and immediately helps you set up.
"Whoa whoa Lamina, you can slow down," You chuckle, "I'm not going anywhere."
"Yeah, well, like I said, after missing out on you cooking TWICE I'm not about to miss it again!" She states
"Well, plot twist," you hold your hand out towards her
You flip the stove on with your free hand.
Lamina takes your hand.
"You're helping me," You smile
You place a pan on the burner as it begins to heat up. You gently pull Lamina into you; one hand on her hip and the other still holding one of her hands.
However, you hear her father clears his throat. Almost immediately you take a step back from Lamina, clearing your own throat and proceed back into the kitchen; where you began prepping everything.
*Lamina's POV* The aroma of the spices filled the room with an exquisite smell. You have never been in a room with an acquired smell before. Your father went out with Aster; leaving the two of you in the house alone. Y/n had told you that you help all that you could and that she could take care of the rest.
However, you sit at the dining room table; bored out of your mind. You stand from the chair and slowly make your way towards her.
You wrap your arms around her midsection as you rest your chin on her shoulder.
"Sorry, I'm bored," You say, sighing
"That's fine, wanna try some?" She holds up a spoonful of the food
You nod, as you open your mouth.
Different acquired tastes hit your tongue. You melt into Y/n as you savor each new taste.
"I take it that you like it?" She asks, smiling
You nod, "The best thing I've had, among other meals you've cooked."
You sweep yourself under her arm and settle yourself between her arms.
"You want to help me finish this up?" She asks
You nod.
"Alright, so you're just going to give this just one swirl, and let it simmer," She explains
She takes one hand and has you hold the pan by its handle, and the other lifting it to the spoon in the pot. You give it one stir and let it begin to settle. As you take a step back, you bump right into her chest, making you jump and turn to face her.
"Y/n.." You sigh
Kiss her...
Before you could even begin to lean towards Y/n, the both of you hear the door open and immediately step away from one another.
"Hey kiddo," Your pa makes his presence known
"Hi dad," You clear your throat
"Hey Lamina," Acacius' voice echoes through the house
"Hi... Acacius..." You say, looking down at the floor
Y/n comes up beside you. Gently placing her hand on the small of your back.
"Oh, was I interrupting something?" He asks
*Y/n's POV* Yes... You are...
"Nope, not at all," You force yourself to say, "I'll be outside..."
You make your way outside...
*Lamina's POV* You reluctantly watch as Y/n takes her leave, leaving you with Acacius...
Which was the last thing you wanted.
"Come sit kids," Your pa says
You reluctantly follow Acacius and sit next to your pa, as Acacius sits intentionally next to you...
"So what have you been up to lately Acacius?" Your pa asks him
"I'm still working with my pa at the lumber yard," He answers, "Ma's still been at home with our little sister."
As you watch the two talk, your eyes drift to the window; Y/n sitting on one of the chairs out on the porch...
Screw this...
"I'm going to join Y/n outside," You stand from the seat
Before Acacias could even protest, you briskly made your way out of the house and onto the porch.
"Hey," Y/n says
"Hey..." You sit next to her
"Thought you were enjoying your time in the house with your dad and Acacius?" She asks, "No way. He came over unannounced and I just... Would like to be around you."
You scoot closer to Y/n, resting your head on her shoulder. You felt her head sit against yours.
"You didn't tell Acacius you were from the capitol... Right?" You ask
"Nope. Only gave him my name before he shifted his attention back to you," Y/n answers, "He's not fond of capitol?"
"Yeah," You reply
"I see," She sighs, "Well, I don't care. I really only care about you... And... What you think of me..."
"What I think?" You lift your head off of her shoulder to look at you
She nods.
"You're amazing," Was the first thing that came to your mind, "You go above and beyond not only for me, but for my family too."
you could see the blush appear on her face.
"What are you two talking about?" Acacius' voice scares the both of you
"Nothing," You clear your throat
"You two going to go to the Hoedown tonight?" Your pa asks

Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 5 | Chapter 6 | Chapter 7
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
*Y/n's POV* You walk back into the house to search for Lamina.
"What do you want?" She asks
"I was just... Letting you know that your father and I are heading down to the market," You say, "And... I nearly forgot that my mother packed me some baked goods before I left. Mostly baked them for you of course..."
Lamina doesn't answer as she coddles her brother. You awkwardly leave them on her nightstand and briskly walk out of her room.
*Lamina's POV* When you hear the front door close, you out your brother back into his crib for a nap. Walking back into your room, you walk up to the settled basket on your nightstand. You move the cloth covering the baked goods and reach for one... Slowly bringing it to your mouth, savoring its taste...
"Also, how did you get these done so fast?" You ask, biting into a treat
"Well, when your mother is pretty much a culinary artist, and her only daughter is in the infirmary, she stress bakes," She answers, "Hence, why I have so much food right now."
"So you're an only child?" You ask, highlighting Y/n's only-child status
She nods, "Father died when I was a little kid, and mother never remarried. So, when you told you had a younger brother, I got a little jealous."
"You? A capitol citizen jealous of a girl from the district?" You chuckle
"Yeah," You say, straight faced, "I've always wanted to know what it felt like to have at least one other sibling. But, guess I'll never know."
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have assumed that you basically could have everything you wanted," You say, tucking hair behind your ear
"It's okay," She says, "We're from opposite upbringings. Technically, I could have everything I wanted. But, I chose to go at it my own way."
"Not really when you're spilling personal information like this," You say, "My mother died giving birth to my little brother. We're kinda alike in a way."
"If... If it were up to me, I would switch places with you; you mentoring me, and I'd be the one going into the arena," She confesses
"You'd die?" You ask
She nods.
"Well, maybe in another life we would meet under different circumstances," You say
You think back to that specific night and sigh...
I've missed her ma's baking...
*Y/n's POV* Lamina's father brings you into the market. You weren't sure what you were expecting other than lumber sales, but you were taken aback with all types of lumber that was around.
"So you all don't just cut down trees huh?" You ask
"Of course not," Lamina's father explains, "Of course, that is our main schtick. But, we managed to find little hobbies to utilize some creative skill in our district."
As you gaze around, you see people carving utensils, figurines... Even instruments...
You were amazed.
"Set it up here kid," He gestures to an empty table
You set his stuff down as you see eyes set upon you form everywhere...
"Don't mind them," He tells you, "Once you're here for about a year, they'll stop seein' you funny."
"Hope so..." You sigh, "So, how does this go?"
"Watch and learn," He says
You watch as a couple comes walking up to the table. However, began to look at you oddly.
"She's my apprentice," Lamina's father averts their unpleasant gaze
He goes onto explaining the products you and him had brought.
+*+
You return with Lamina's father after a day in the market.
"I'm assuming that you don't have a place to stay?" He asks
"No I don't sir," You say
"We have a spare room, you're more than welcome to stay with us for as long as you need," He says
"You're too kind," You chuckle
You follow him to the spare room, which you happened to pass by Lamina's room; she sits in her bed, reading a book of sorts.
She's kinda cute when she reads...
Your eyes drift to her nightstand... Basket open... You couldn't tell how much she had consumed.
"What do you want?" She asks
"Nothing," You say, quickly making your way into the spare room
You take in the surroundings; way smaller than what you were used to back living with your mother. But, you weren't going to complain.
You settle yourself into the small room...
+*+
Screaming...
Your legs burst out into a run and you nearly slide past Lamina's doorway, but caught yourself on the doorframe.
"Hey hey what's wrong?!" You ask, panting
"N-nothing, I'm fine," Lamina attempts to compose herself
"You're clearly not fine," You say
*Lamina's POV* You viciously wipe away your tears.
"I'm fine Y/n, now get out!" You say, pinching the bridge of your nose, trying to hide your tears
You let out a sigh and turn your back towards Y/n, slowly drifting off to sleep...
+*+
You wake up to the birds chirping outside. As you sit up in bed, you look over to the door and see Y/n, knees pressed against her chest, using her arm as a pillow; sleeping uncomfortably against the wall.
Was she there... All night?...
You were falling even harder... But, you weren't sure how to tell her that...
You get up from your bed and make your way towards Y/n. You gently shake her, and her eyes flutter open.
"Come on," You whisper
She begrudgingly stands but almost collapses from the pain in her back and legs. You keep her upright as you begin to motion towards your bed.
"I.. I thought you were going to take me back to bed, in the spare..." She yawns
"Too far..." You say
You gently lay her down along your bed, tucking her in like you would to your brother.
"Thanks for... Staying with me," You say, brushing some loose strands of her hair
"Always," She replies under her breath
You couldn't help but crack a small smile...
"You're so dumb sometimes," You say under your breath
You stand up and make your way out of the room, making your way down to the kitchen.
"Mornin' kiddo," Your pops greets you
You could easily tell that he was already cooking up breakfast.
"Mornin' pops," You greet back, walking up to his side
"You uh... Slept okay?" He asks
"Yeah, why?" You ask
"Well, you would often wake up two to three times a night," He points out
He was right, you normally would. Ever since coming home from the 10th games, you've lost a great amount of sleep.
*Y/n's POV* You walk down the stairs and see Lamina's family at the table.
"Ahh, good morning Y/n," Lamina's father greets you
"Morning," You reply
"You slept okay?" He asks
You nod.
"Lamina finish up, we have to get you ready for the reaping," He tells her
Both you and Lamina drop whatever the both of you held... You nearly forgot about the 11th Hunger Games...
"Uhh..." You break the horrifying silence, "I don't know if you know about this but... Lamina is exempt from any future hunger games."
"Exempt?" He asks
"Basically she has no obligations to put her name into further reapings for the rest of her life," You say, "When the Dean chose us for mentorship, he had us read up on the hunger games rules. And according to the rules, every victor, despite still being of the reaping age; Lamina being sixteen, she does not have to participate
Lamina attempts to stop tears from rolling down her face. Lamina's father gently grasps your hands and gets onto his knees; profusely thanking you for the information.
+*+
Instead of accompanying Lamina's father to the market like the last few months, you accompanied Lamina to the forest.
"What did you bring me out here for?" You ask, "Don't you... Have... Friends... Around here?"
"They're all at the reaping..." She explains
"Oh..." You sigh
Lamina stops and presses her hand on your shoulder and hides the both of you in a hollow stump. The both of you watch a pair of peacekeepers walk by.
"Why are we hiding from them? You don't need to go to the reapings," You whisper
"They probably wouldn't care if I'm a victor," She whispers back, "They'll probably throw me in the reaping anyway."
The both of you slowly crawl out form the makeshift hiding spot and continue your way through the woods.
+*+
The both of you find a part of the forest that you're far enough from the peacekeeper population, but not far enough to be past the border from 7.
You watch as Lamina strgetically finds stable branches, unnoticeable cracks and scales the seemingly smooth tree. She turns and looks down at you.
"Are you coming or what?" She asks
"Y-yeah, hang on," You clear your throat
You attempt to match where her hands grabbed and where she placed her feet. You look up and see her already halfway up the tree.
What the hell?!... Wow...
You watch her pull off to the side somewhere far up the tree. In which you attempt to climb faster.
"How do you make this..." You strain, "Look... So easy?!..."
You let out a yelp as your foot loses its footing. Your hands claw at the bark, attempting to grab at anything. However, you stopped... You look up and see Lamina grasping at your arm. You regain your footing and your other hand grabs at the tree's surface as you carefully catch up to Lamina.
"How do I make tree-climbing look so easy?" She jumps back to your question, "Been climbing trees all my life."
"Yeah... Makes sense," You sigh, trying to let your thrumming heart calm down
When you do, you begin to take in the scenery before you... Mountain ranges for miles... Rivers connecting to lakes here and there... You were able to see everything.
"If only... This were in the Capitol," You sigh
"I didn't think I'd live through the games," Lamina comments, "I... Also never got to thank you..."
You look at her, "For what?"
"Bringing me home," She says, looking back at you, "When they announced me the victor, I was surprised that you lived up to your promise."
"Please, there was only so much I could do behind a computer screen," You chuckle
"Well, your last bit of advice really pushed me through the moment when the tributes from 4 were double-teaming me," Lamina says, "I think it was something like... 'If they try to kill you, kill them first.' Kind od thing... That was what was going through my head when I was fighting them..."
You were surprised on how well Lamina remembered that line... Because it was word-for-word. Even though it came out of your mouth, you didn't remember how you said it....
You felt Lamina's pinky brush against yours. You look down at it, then back up at her.
"Thank you, Y/n," Lamina smiles
"Always," You smile back
Lamina scoots closer to you, enough to rest her head upon your shoulder; the both of you gazing out on the beautiful 7 forestry whilst avoiding the horrific reality of the world you both reside in.
+*+
It was a slow process on adapting to the culture in 7. However, you were surprised on how everyone was being so kind towards you; despite being from the Capitol.
"I bet everyone is beginning to tolerate me is because I got you home," You joke
"It is not that Y/n," Lamina says, "Okay that is one factor, but you don't flaunt your wealth nor do you think lowly of us."
"Well, after I announced to my mother that I was moving, she isn't giving me any ounce of support," You say
"What?!" She asks, "I thought you had a good relationship with your mother."
"Oh, trust me, I do," You say, "I did tell her that I wanted to make a new life. So, any ties I would have with the capitol, other than her, are severed."
*Lamina's POV* "So..." You say, "You're now going to be seen as a lowly person?"
"It's better than being brainwashed into believing what the capitol is doing to the districts are right and filthy rich people should be praised like... These gods... That they were in control over everything, even in the districts." She says
"You said 'they'," You point out
"Y-yeah... I guess I did," She chuckles, "I just... Felt.. So... Out of place there... I.. I... Always felt. Different compared to the traditional capitol families. That, my life wasn't in the capitol. That. It could be... Somewhere out here."
"Well, I'm glad you chose 7," You say
"I thought you weren't happy to see me when I arrived," Y/n chuckles
"I wasn't," You confess, "But, after having you around here for awhile now, I don't think I'd let you go back to the Capitol."
"Then that should be easy for you," She smiles, "I wouldn't want to be anywhere else."
+*+
You wake up with a scream, cold sweat and tears streaming down your face. Y/n rushes over.
"Hey," She yawns, but obviously concerned, "You okay?!.."
You nod, "Just another nightmare..."
You let out a sniffle, wiping your tears.
"Same one?..." She asks, having a good guess of what it is
You nod again.
You watch her sit next to the door, the usual night after night.
"Actually... Will you... Hold me?..." You ask
Her eyes search you for certainty... In which you easily show to her that you were, indeed certain, and watch her get up and make her way to your bed, carefully getting underneath the covers with you. Almost immediately you cling to her; causing her to twitch.
"Is this... Too much?..." You ask, noting how she twitched in your embrace
"No," She says, slowly relaxing her arms, "Not at all."
You immediately settle yourself in her embrace and slowly rest your eyes, listening to her heartbeat .

Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 5 | Chapter 6 | Chapter 7
------------------------------------------------------------------
You let the crutch drop to the floor, students begin to murmur as you slowly hobble your way over to Gaul. Some students attempt to help you, however, push them away.
"Dr. Gaul, I humbly request that you bring my tribute out from that arena, or I will walk in there myself and bring her out," You stare up at her
Dr. Gaul does nothing but stare down at you for a long while.
"I admire your determination to keep your tribute alive," She says, showing a maniacal smile, "Even if you are injured because of those rebel districts."
"Lamina." You correct her, eyes still narrowed, "Her name. Is. Lamina. She has nothing to do with the rebels..."
The pain in your ankle was unbearable... However you continued to apply weight into your good ankle. Her smile widens further.
"You're going to need a longer healing time for that ankle of yours," Dr. Gaul gestures to your wrapped ankle
Then she leans towards a personnel worker.
"Bring... Lamina out of the arena."
You saw how she paused before finally acknowledging Lamina by her name rather than 'tribute'. Cheers abrupt throughout the room as you are lifted onto the shoulders of your classmates, chanting your name.
"Ladies and Gentleman, your winner of the 10th Annual Hunger Games, from District 7, Lamina!" Lucky announces
+*+
You rushed to the train station, hoping to catch Lamina off before she would get on the train home.
"I believe your tribute had left already," Dean Highbottom appears
"What?" You turn to him, "Why?"
"You grew attached," He says
"N-no I didn't," You lie, "I just wanted to see her off, send her a goodbye before she left."
"I'm afraid that wasn't up to you, she had wished to return home as soon as possible," He says
"I see," You sigh
You begin hobbling out of the station, tears building and streaming down your face.
When will I see you again Lamina?...
+*+
You enter your house, your mother finishing setting the table.
"Splendid job sweetie. I- hey what's the matter?" She says, then asking after seeing the look on your face, "I thought you were going to see Lamina off?"
"I was... But, Dean Highbottom told me she had already left by the time I got to the station," You sigh, falling into a nearby chair
"That's too bad," She sighs, "I definitely would have wanted to give her some snacks for the road..."
"Yeah," You sigh, "A real bummer..."
"Well darling, you must be hungry after an entire day of anxiety," You mother sits next to you at the table
"Yeah..." You sit up, "I actually am..."
Your mother rings you up a plate.
"I heard that you went against the Dr. Volumnia Gaul," Your mother says, "No student, or anyone for that matter has ever done so before I believe."
"Well, she was going to have no victors," You say, "Lamina was the last one standing. I didn't care about winning and getting that Plinth Scholarship or whatever... I cared about getting Lamina home. I may or may not have told her that she either bring her out or I waltz in there, snake mutts and all, and bring her out myself."
"That's my girl," Your mother praises your act of defiance
-1 Year Later- The next Hunger Games was around the corner... You were offered to become a mentor once again, however, rejected it. Growing an attachment to a person who could possibly die in the arena was enough for you to opt out the next year. You were not about to watch kids kill each other again...
You sit in your little nook; having graduated from the Academy, you decided to not attend University, as they had nothing that you could have gotten out of them, you told the Plinth Family that you didn't want their money, and to give it to the next eligible person they saw fit...
You look down upon your wrist...
Lamina's headscarf...
You remember her wrapping it around your wrist the night you visited her the last time before the 10th games started. Every single day since you had kept it on you in some way; mostly as a wrist 'bracelet'.
I wonder how she's doing now... I hope she's okay...
You used the graduation savings your mother put aside for you to do anything you wanted: you got a place of your own. It's not as spacious as your childhood home was, but it fit enough for you.
+*+
You visited your mother for a monthly dinner meeting.
"Has it been the same?" She asks
"Yeah," You sigh, "There's nothing."
"There is something that I need to talk to you about," She says
Your heart sinks....
"What about?..." You ask
"Do you know why I never told stories of my past before I met your father?" She asks
"You... Were from the districts?" You immediately guess
She nods, "District 9 to be exact. I taught your father how to cook and that was how he and I became one of the most renowned culinary artists in the capitol. Your father's capitol status was able to rub off on me and no one suspected that I was from the districts."
"That makes sense why I feel differently towards the games than others," You say
"You're... Not upset?" She asks
"No," You say, "I honestly wished I was actually born in the districts rather than being born here."
"Don't let anyone who is very capitol hear you say that," She chuckles
"Luckily I graduated," You chuckle back, "Tell me mother, can someone from the capitol move to the districts? Specifically to look for someone?"
"You could move to the districts as a capitol member, but moving back here... I wouldn't guarantee it," Your mother explains
"That's fine by me," You say, "I'm going to search for Lamina."
"Y/n..." Your mother stops you
As you stand from the table, you turn to look at your mother.
"Be really careful," She says
"I always will mother," You smile
"I'm so proud of you," She says, giving you a hug
+*+
You packed light, your mother gave you her baked goods to bring to Lamina. You dressed down form what you used to wear and basically dressed similar to the boy from 7 from the 10th games.
"Don't lose touch Y/n," Your mother says
"I won't," You say
You step onto the train heading for District 7.
+*+
You step out of the train, already greeted with the
As you cautiously make your way through the district, you already felt eyes piercing your skin... You enter the exchange district, looking for Lamina's trademark red hair.
"Hey you," A voice calls out from behind
You slowly turn to face them...
"May I help you?" You ask
*Lamina's POV* As you pay for the final item to bring home, you hear a faint grunt...
Was that?...
You make your way out to the field and see some familiar faces beating...
"Oh my god Y/n!!" You yell
You drop all of your items and rush over to them.
"Let her go!! I know who she is!" You yell
They stop and let her go.
*Y/n's POV* You groan in pain but look up. Your eyes widen at the figure running towards you. But you knew that figure anywhere.
"L-Lamina!" You yelp
You rush onto your feet and run to her, meeting her halfway. You grunt in pain as she wraps you in the most gripping way possible.
"Lamina, how do you know her? She's capitol," One says
"She was my mentor," She explains, "She was the one who got me home."
"This twig right here?" Another asks
You give him a death glare.
A twig?... Ouch...
"Well, with the right training, she'd... be a great addition to our ranks," She says
"If... You say so Lamina," He says
All three men walked away. Lamina turns to you, eyes narrowed at you.
"You shouldn't have come," She says, grabbing your wrist
"You... You were happy to see me just now," You point out
"I only did that so they wouldn't continue beating your ass," She says, "Now we have to get you back to the train station so we can get you back to the capitol."
"I... Can't," You say, stopping
"Why not?" She asks, turning to you
"Once a capitol person moves out to the districts, they're considered as such," You explain, "And you'll always be seen as district if you move to the capitol."
"But, they'll beat you everyday for making our lives a living hell," Lamina says
"Then maybe I shouldn't think like a capitol," You say, "Teach me how to be apart of the districts... Mentor me... This time."
Lamina gasps a little...
"Me... Mentor you?" She asks
You nod.
"Y/n... You're dumb, for coming all the way out to the districts.." She mumbles
"Well, people of the capitol would call me dumb for leaving the capitol," You sigh
Lamina drags you to her family home. Her father was gathering wood.
"Lamina, did you get the stuff we need?" he asks
"Yes I did pop," She replies
Once he looks up, he places his hands on his waist.
"Who is this?" He asks, gesturing to you
"This is... A friend," Lamina says
"She doesn't look like she's from around here," He says
"I'm not," You say
"Which District do you come from?" He asks
The both of of pause...
How do I say I'm from the capitol?...
"She's from the Capitol," Lamina says before you could
Lamina's heart beats out of her chest... Your stomach feels nauseous. Both from the lack of an answer from her father.
"Big guts to get the courage to move out from that shit hole," He says, "What brings you here?"
"I.. Didn't feel that my life was in the capitol anymore..." You say, "My mother encouraged me to go here... She's from the districts herself... 9 to be exact."
"Why don't we discuss more inside?" He gestures
You watch him as he walks up the steps to his home. You were surprised at how well this was... Going for you. You look at Lamina. but, she rolls her eyes and follows her dad inside. You follow suit.
"Why did your mother leave 9?" He asks
"Better work opportunity I guess," You explain, "My father died when I was young. Just been me and my mother ever since."
"And. What does she do?" He asks
"She's a cook at the capitol academy," You say
"Oh so you were a mentor in the 10th hunger games?" He asks
You nod...
"Y/n was my mentor," Lamina adds
"Really?" He asks
You nod again.
"I'm forever grateful for keeping my daughter alive," He says
"Please, sir," You chuckle, "I only sent her supplies. She managed to get herself out."
"She also shielded me from the bombings in the arena," Lamina says, "No other capitol mentor had done that before."
You look over to Lamina as she attempts to place you on a high pedestal.
"Please, I don't need to be treated as a hero," You say, "Lamina showed me that you are all human too, and that whatever the hell the capitol taught people like me, were wrong about the districts."
"Are you sure that this girl isn't from any of the districts?" He turns to his daughter
"She was born and raised in the capitol pops," Lamina sighs, "Are we done?"
She gets up and goes up to her room...
"Don't take it personal," He says, "She... Hasn't been the same since she came home."
"What do you mean?" You ask
"She isn't normally the cheerful daughter I once had, she wakes up almost every night, screaming," He explains, "She's been trying to forget everything that happened in that arena."
"And... Me?" You curiously ask
"Hmmm... She never mentioned you once," He says
"Mmm," You say, "So... Enough about me, what does someone do in the district?"
"I was going to chop wood to sell at the market later, care to help?" He asks
"Sure," You say
*Lamina's POV* You look out from your bedroom window and watch as your pops and Y/n begin to grab axes and chop wood.
You scoff and walk away from the window, walking across the hall to your pop's bedroom; walking up to a little crib.
"Hey you," You sigh into a smile, picking up your now 1-year old brother
He coughs and begins to stifle into a cry.
"Hey, shhhhh," You coo, sitting on the bedside, "It's okay... That happens to me too... Almost every night... I know you won't understand right now but... Do you want to know what I do that helps me calm down?... I think of the good things that this specific capitol-born person had done in the few days I had gotten to know and had come to love... She showed me that not all capitol-born are preppy and stuck-up."
You stand from the bed and walk back into your room; checking on Y/n. A small smile appears as you watch her learn how to use an axe with your pops.
I love her...
But, you weren't sure how she felt about you... As well as that you know only so much about her. Thinking back to your short days in the capitol, you never forgot how much ease you felt being around her, how she kept you fed as much as possible, and how many extra visits you got... How her words had gotten you out of the arena...

Chapter 1 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 5 | Chapter 6 | Chapter 7
------------------------------------------------
"Okay, so..." You begin, "You're from 7... You climbed trees in your childhood?"
You felt Lamina's head nod.
"Oaky, great," You say, still looking around
Before you could throw a defensive suggestion, you hear her district partner call out to her. She lets go of your arm and begins making her way to him.
"Just you," Coral says
You watch as Lamina watches her district partner walk away from her. Your eyebrows furrow at the entire exchange between the two. You actually felt your heart break for Lamina.
"If... If it were up to me, I'd ally with you," You sigh, walking back up to her, "But, sometimes it's better to be on your own during these games. Because if you're with someone you trust, it'll be harder for the both of you..."
"Maybe you're right," Lamina says
Echoes throughout the arena as the bombs go off. Both you and Lamina were knocked away from one another.
"Lamina..." You groan
The thought of her safety flooded your brain.
"Lamina!!" You yell out
As you try to see through the smokescreen, you manage to find her. However, you noticed a piece of falling debris.
"Lamina look out!" You yell
Your legs break out into a run.
*Lamina's POV* You turn to her voice calling out for you. You attempt to process the fact that she had pushed you to the ground. However, as you were gaining your bearings, you hear her yell out in pain.
"Y/n!" You yell
You rush over to her side.
"There's an opening!!" The boy from 2 yells
He rushes to your side and attempts to pull you with him.
"We can escape!!" He yells
But he doesn't stay long as he immediately stands and runs away. You rush back over to Y/n and immediately lift the debris with all of your strength. She crawls her way out and exhales. You begin to pull her into your arms and begin to observe her injury however, you felt a hand grab at your arm and drag you onto your feet, making you lose your grip on her.
"Y/n Y/l/n! She's hurt!!" You attempt to tell the peacekeepers to prioritize her than keeping you from running away
The thought of running away didn't even cross your mind, you were only trying to repay Y/n for saving you, by saving her.
But it was like they had no sense of hearing. They continued to drag you away from Y/n.
"Lamina...." She groans, slowly reaching up towards you
+*+
Whomever was left was thrown back into the zoo cage.
"Lamina, are you alright?!" Treech comes up to you
He begins to examine you for any injuries. But you step away from him.
"Lamina?" He asks
"Go away Treech," You tell him, "I'm fine, thanks to Y/n."
"That... Capitol girl?" He asks, "Lamina, she's capitol. They don't care about us."
"Y/n is different," You say, "She's been very protective of me, and she saved me during the bombing."
"She told me that she was willing to put herself in the games to ally herself with me," You say, "You're leaving me for another pack of tributes, so I don't even want to hear your sympathy..."
Treech wasn't sure what to say after the fact. You indeed watched him leave you for a different group: leaving you on your own for the games. He walks away...
Your main concern was if Y/n was even alive. She did save you from falling debris and got hurt for it.
*Y/n's POV* You open your eyes...
"Oh, Y/n!" Your mother comes over
"Lamina..." Your first thought comes out of your mouth
"She's alive," She tells you
You sigh in relief... You sit up in your bed and look at your casted leg...
"Thankfully your tribute got you out when she did," Your mother explains, "Should your leg have been under that rubble any longer they would have had to amputate it."
Maybe they should have...
Your leg felt like it was run over by a truck... One. Million. Times.
”They've started the interviews," She says, "Oh look, your triute is coming up!"
You watch as Lamina walks up next to Lucky; fidgeting with the hem of the vest she wore over her shirt.
”Now Lamina, I know this was a really big emotional rollercoaster for you when you got here," Lucky begins, "What had gotten you through these last few days?"
"Well, I really have to give a big thanks to my mentor, Y/n," Lamina starts
Your mother turns to you; a smirks swiped across her face. You look down onto the floor, attempting to hide your flushed cheeks and lips that were attempting to suppress a smile.
"Oh?" He asks, "How's that?"
"She helped me build confidence in myself these last few says and helped me remember what's important to me," She continues
"And what is important to you?" He asks
"My little brother back home," She says, "I goal to come home to him so that he has an older sister to look up to when he has the capacity to have memories."
Even from the monitor, you could hear gasps, leading to murmurs. You look at the bottom right corner of the screen and see the donations coming through.
Wow... That's way more than I expected...
+*+
Once you were cleared out of the infirmary, you immediately made your way back into the zoo to see her.
"Lamina," You smile, struggling to sit down
"You're alive," She smiles, coming over to you
"Hobbling," You chuckle, "But, yes, alive. I brought some things... Maybe we can do a small celebration of you nailing your interview, and... and... For me to see you one last time before tomorrow..."
You take out a picnic basket and set it between you and the cage but made it easy for Lamina to take food out of the basket.
"You always seem excited to come see me," She sighs, reaching for a snack in the basket
"Well... You're... Better than the capitol people I have to be around..." You confess, "Most of them are snobs."
"I can see why," She says in between chews
"There are a select few I willingly tolerate. Others... I'm forced to tolerate," You say
*Lamina's POV* "Also, how did you get these done so fast?" You ask, biting into a treat
"I'll hold you to that," She chuckles
"Also there's no way I'd want to be a capitol snob," You add
"That's all the more reason I no longer want to be 'capitol'," She says
"Where would you go?" You ask
"Anywhere," She answers, "Maybe with you... Probably."
"We'll see what the outcome is, starting tomorrow," You say
"Yeah..." She sighs
"Can... Can I give you something?" You ask
"S-sure," She answers
*Y/n's POV* You watch Lamina as she unties the wrap on her head. She reaches through the bars and gently grasps your hand, gently tugging it toward her.
"I'm surprised that you trust me so easily," She chuckles, wrapping her head wrap around your wrist
"Well, you haven't done anything that makes me think you want to kill me," You reply
"You didn't treat me like shit like that one mentor did with the girl from 10," She says, "Plus, you have been feeding me. I also shared it with other tributes as well if that was okay."
"Well, once I passed the food off to you, it was up to you on what you wanted to do with it," You say
"This isn't much but... I hope it'll be suffice as repayment," Lamina says
"Repayment would be getting you home," You say
You hear her sniffle, and she tries her best to hide a cry.
"Hey..." You coo
Your hand instinctively reaches up to cup her cheek.
"It's okay to cry," You tell her, "It's a sign that you are a human that has emotions."
You see her eyes glisten as tears build in her eyes and begin to roll down her face. She attempts to wipe them away and to continue acting strong. You use your thumb to wipe her sorrows off of her face.
"I swear to you, Lamina," You begin, causing her to look up at you, "I know you're scared... My last advice I can give to you is that you get to a place where they can't reach you. Because if they can't reach you, they can't kill you. But, if they try to kill you, you kill them first. As your mentor, I will do whatever it takes to get you home."
Lamina grabs the hem of your shirt and pulls you into her; kissing you. Your eyes widen and were left as such even after she pulls away.
"Thank You," She smiles, "For all that you've done for me."
"Y-yeah," You say, beginning to stand up, almost blank-faced, "A-anything for you, Lamina."
But you grunt in pain, beginning to falter back onto the ground. However, Lamina wrapping her arm under yours to help you stand until you got your crutch under your other arm.
"Here," Lamina hands you the picnic basket
"Thank you, Lamina," You sigh, taking the basket, "I hope you get to rest easy tonight..."
You turn your back to her... Taking a minute to really think if you wanted to leave her... You didn't want to. But, if they were to catch you with your tribute before the games, you would most likely be punished for it.
+*+
You couldn't stop thinking about your kiss with Lamina the previous night. However, you needed to be in full focus... Today was the day... The Hunger Games...
You nervously walk into the watch room... Hobbling into the room with your single crutch
You could hear people greeting you however, the sheer anxiety of Lamina possibly dying was high on your mind.
"You look pale Y/n, you okay?" Sejanus asks
His voice was the most prominent to your brain. You turn to look up at him, but you only eye him until you simply go to your seat with Lamina's face on the screen.
"Whoa Y/n worried your tribute may die on the 1st day?" Festus Creed comes up to you
You don't answer him; you only stare at your screen, your uncharted leg jiggles.
"Lay off Festus," Sejanus says, "She has a lot going on. She still showed up for her tribute, even with a broken leg."
+*+
"Is this thing on?" Lucky asks one of the cameramen
"Ladies and Gentleman, I am your lovely host, amateur magician and upcoming weatherman, Lucretius "Lucky" Flickerman. I am proud to be presenting you all, the Annual 10th Hunger Games. In just a few short minutes, we will begin."
The remaining classmates sit at their respective seats. Unfortunately you were forced to sit next to Festus...
"Is that your trophy from your tribute?" He notices a different colored fabric underneath the light blue cuff of your shirt
"It's not a 'trophy'," You sigh in frustration, "It's... A token."
He snickers, "Your tribute is done for."
The big television turns on and begins to show the tributes entering the arena. However, one camera begins to pan towards a three-part beam... A tribute hung by his wrists
Sejanus stands, and throws his desk in frustration.
"You're all monsters!" He screams, "All of you!!"
He walks out of the room... You wanted to run after him... But, your legs couldn't move. You would also... Probably fall onto the floor and have everyone laugh at you.
"Well, I- uh..." Lucky tries to divert the conversation towards more lightening topic
However, he stops for a moment...
"The tributes are in position... Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three... Two... One," Lucky counts down
A bell rings...
"Climb," You mumble
Through the screen, you see the tributes running towards the center of the arena... Due to the amount of shakiness and a lot of information hitting the screen at once, you couldn't even spot Lamina.
Buzzers sound left and right, you look at the icons of the tributes, trying to spot the ones who have been killed. You felt your heartbeat travel up to your brain, making you feel light headed. Not from the amount of tributes dying in this... Bloodbath...
No.
But you did hear a girl vomit a few seats over...
Your heart was pounding against your skull. The room felt very warm since the games began and you were sure you stopped breathing at some point.
You watch as the tributes who were still alive, begin to scramble into the tunnels: mostly the pack you noticed the day before running after Lucy Gray; the girl from 12.
"A future note, if your tribute is dead, boom. You're out of the room," He gestures to you all, "Also, if you are going to vomit, please do so in the restrooms..."
As the camera pans back to the cornucopia-like structure, you see someone beginning to emerge from an opening... The face becoming familiar.
"Lamina," You finally breathe, your eyes beginning to water
You cover your mouth, trying to hide the smile that was smeared across your face.
*Lamina's POV* You cautiously approach the hanging District 2 boy. Hoping it wouldn't attract any of the stronger tributes. From what was left, you find a decently sized axe and a knife. You hook them somewhere along your belt and begin to approach the beam, beginning to climb it.
As you settle in, you look down at the boy. You slowly reach out and gently caress his head. He opens his eyes and sees you.
"Please..." He sputters
You gently let his head down but tilt it to the side. Your fingers shake as you draw your axe, holding it at a comfortable way for yourself. You take a handful of shaky breaths before lifting it and bringing it down onto the boy.
*Y/n's POV* Your body jumps at the sound of her axe making contact with his body. You could feel everyone looking away from the scene, you continued to watch. Not because it was interesting.
It wasn't even as such in the slightest.
You only continued to watch because if Lamina had to suffer to make the mercy kill, you only felt right to be present in a way, so she wouldn't have to feel alone.
You look down and begin to see donations pile in again. You didn't know that you could continue getting those
"You remember those donations that sponsors have given you?" Lucky asks, specifically looking at you, "Well, you can use those donations to send your tribute anything they need."
He gestures that you send Lamina something. Attempting to make a quick selection, you decide to settle for a simple starter; water.
Almost immediately after you hit send, you watch the drone make its way to Lamina. She reaches out however, it had crashed into the beam next to her.
"Those drones are shit!" You yell
All eyes turn to you. Your head sinks into the desk.
+*+
When night fell, you didn't leave your desk space at all. Even though you could feel your eyes grow heavy, you couldn't leave Lamina, not even for sleep. The students who weren't the top 24 either passed out along the walls or simply went home. Even a handful of your remaining mentor classmates had left.
You look through the menu; debating on what you should send her.
Should I try sending her water again?...
You look up at her through the screen, trying to find a comfortable position to sleep.
Maybe... All that crying she did the last few days must have her dehydrated.
You click onto the water icon, and press the enter button.
*Lamina's POV* You sit up to the sound of another drone. You were determined to catch the parcel this time. You reach out and immediately grab the water, pulling it into you before the drone crashed.
*Y/n's POV* "You're welcome," You whisper to yourself, your eyes didn't leave the camera until it panned to Lucy Gray and Jessup.
+*+
You watch as the tributes from 4 begin to ascend onto the beam where Lamina resided.
"No!" You yelp
"You're done for Y/n," Festus smirks
*Lamina's POV* You looked to both ends... Both were blocking your way out.
If they try to kill you... Kill them first.
Y/n's last words of advice the other night had continued to repeat through your mind as as attempt to devise a plan to take both of them on.
You try to deflect Coral's trident as she gets closer to the flat surface of the beam.
If they try to kill you!... Kill them first!!!
You stand onto your feet, stepping onto the trident, trying to apply your weight so that Coral couldn't draw it back to herself. You hack onto the wood of the trident as hard as you could. It only took you two hacks to fully detach the trident from its pole.
Before Coral could turn it to the other end to use, you instinctively jab the trident into Coral's shoulder; her scream echoing through the arena.
*Y/n's POV* You watch as Lamina forcefully takes the broken trident out from Coral's shoulder, and then repeatedly jab it into her upper back until Coral's body fell back onto the ground.
"Coral... Like a waterfall, falls to her doom, goodbye Festus Creed," Lucky makes a comment as her icon turns into the statue you see downtown
*Lamina's POV* You turn around and narrowly miss Mizzen's knife. However, use the broken trident to stab into his foot. He screams out in pain as he attempts to step back. He lifts his knife above his head however, you use your open hand to catch it. His other hand attempts to whip the net over you but your axe catches it. But, it gets stuck. He smiles as he draws it back over his shoulder.
Assuming he was going to throw it over you again, However, you force the trident out of his foot and launch your body towards him, the trident being driven into his abdomen in the process. You take the trident out from his abdomen, his eyes burning into your soul as his body falls from the beam, dying upon impact.
You look down at Treech and Tanner.... Panting.
Treech could see that 'come up here and I'll kill you' look in your eyes. He turns his back to you again and walks away.
"Dude this is our chance to take her out!" Tanner attempts to persuade him to take you on
Treech grabs Tanner by the shirt and slashes at his throat, he collapses onto the ground. He turns to look up at you one more time...
'I'm not going to kill you' look was written on his face before he disappears. You finally found it in yourself to forgive him for leaving you.
*Y/n's POV* It was like Lamina had some kind of "instant kill" switch in her head, prompting her to drop her 'weak' demeanor, and show how ruthless she truly was.
Your eyes widen in astonishment...
"Holy Shit!..." You say
Mizzen's icon disappears.
"Mizzen... Say Goodbye Persephone Price," Lucky makes more comments, "And goodbye to the boy from 10, Tanner."
You sit back into your chair, sighing in relief into your hands. You run your fingers through your hair and see the donations pile again.
You decided to give her food for this round. She basically deserved it after making two defensive kills.
Protein, some cheese and bread...
That seemed appropriate enough. You hit enter...
*Lamina's POV* Again, the sounds of drones were closing in on you... But, there was more than one...
Y/n are you serious?...
However, you managed to catch them before the drones crashed. When you unpackaged them... It was food. You immediately dig in. It wasn't Y/n's mother's baked goods, but it was able to tide you over for the time being.
*Y/n's POV* Part of you wished that you could send in your mothers cooking instead. But, that would entail that you would have to enter the arena. It was against the rules to... You already heard Sejanus (Through Snow) that he had to get Sejanus out of the arena.
Like the night before, you didn't leave your little desk, keeping an eye on Lamina.
+*+
With Coral and Mizzen gone, there wasn't really anything action-y in the games... However, you saw the boy from 11 beginning to make a makeshift morgue in the arena after the death of his district partner. The room began to make an uproar after he ripped a capitol flag off of the wall.
However, you smile. You gave him a lot of respect for defying the capitol in such a way that isn't violent. But, also giving the dead tributes as much respect for their deaths as much as possible.
At some point you watch Lamina give him food. In which you sent her more.
+*+
"Good morning students," Dr. Gaul comes in, "For this final portion of the games, I have decided to make this finale... Interesting."
*Lamina's POV* You watch as a helicopter begins to descend with a tank that was so dark, it was like the void all stuck in that tube.
"Is it over?" The girl from 8 asks, "Can we go home now?"
"Wovey," The boy from 11 calls out to her
You could hear the subtle crack of the container.
You jump when it fully breaks. You watch helplessly as the snakes take out all of the tributes below. You see Treech attempting to climb up to you however, a snake gets him in the ankle, making him fall back.
"Treech!" You call out to him, beginning to cry
*Y/n's POV* You watch as a snake attempts to climb up the column to Lamina, but falls. Tears stream down her face as you watch her helplessly. However, you only see Lamina's icon left among the 24 tributes shown.
"Dr. Gaul, Lamina is the only one left, let her out!" You stand from your chair, using your crutch
However, Gaul doesn't waver. Her glare burning into your soul
Your lip quivers and your brows furrow.

Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 5 | Chapter 6 | Chapter 7
-------------------------------------------------
"Seven. Boy, Vipsania Sickle. Girl. Y/n Y/l/n," Dean Highbottom reads off the list
You look up to your female tribute... She huffs her shoulder upward. She was crying... You heard a few snickers. You really wanted to punch them in the face. But your heart was broken when you watched her cry.
"Looks like Y/n got the crybaby," Arachne snickers to you
You dead stare at her: she had always made remarks towards you but then look back up at the screen, catching one last glimpse of your tribute before it switches to the next district.
After the assigning ceremony, you find a spot outside of the area to just have time to think.
How am I going to make her a victor?...
"Looks like Y/n is having second thoughts about being assigned the crybaby of the tributes," Arachne says, coming up to you
"Lamina is not a crybaby," You say, looking up at her
You too never got along. But, since the both of you were in the same class, you were forced to tolerate her.
"Then, what is she to you? Don't tell me you are actually growing fond of your tribute now," She continues to belittle you
"Me? Fond of her? Please..." You say, "Unlike you, I have a heart. I'm going to make my tribute the best one out of all of you."
"I'd like to see you try, Y/l/n," Arachne stares you down
+*+
Both you and Coriolanus Snow waited at the train station. You look up at him: white rose in his hand and an anxious look on his face.
"With the stunt your tribute pulled at her reaping, she's already captured the capital's eyes," You tell him
"I just don't know how to get her to trust me," He says
Before you could offer some kind of advice that most likely wouldn't help his case in the slightest, traincars came to a hazardous stop. Both you and Snow make yourselves presentable.
As the peacekeepers forcefully grab the tributes out of the cars, both you and Snow look for your respective tributes.
Going off from your photographic memory: Lamina donned shoulder length red hair being tied back with a hair bandana.
Suddenly you see a girl with a matching description pass you by.
"L-Lamina," You anxiously call out to her
The girl stops and turns to you. Putting on your best smile, you reach into your pocket and present a small gift box.
"I-I know everything must be very frightening for you. But, i just wanted to Welcome you to the capitol," You try to keep a smile on
Despite you probably already fucked up your self-introduction.
But, Lamina doesn't answer. She doesn't even meet your gaze.
"I-uhhh," You begin to scramble your sentences, figuring out how to make her talk, "Made this myself."
You frantically tug at the ribbon, and open the lid.
"I... I never made anything of the sort in my life and. And. And-" You attempt to find the right words to even just speak
You gently take her hand, placing the shitty-made gift into her hand. She turns away from you, still not meeting your gaze.
Both you and Snow wistfully hop into the car just before any peacekeeper noticed two Academy students were in it.
An awkward silence sits upon the 24 tributes, you and Snow.
"What's the matter Capitol?" The boy from 11: Reaper asks, "You're in the wrong car."
"We should just kill them," The girl from 4: Coral suggests
Your eyes widen as the boy who was hovering around Lamina comes walking up to you. He presses his arm along your collar bones, pinning you to the back of the wall.
"Treech don't... She's my mentor," Lamina speaks for the first time
Treech's arm eases away from your collar bone. You are really going to have an interesting time...
"I reckon anything happen to them, something would happen to our loved ones back home," Lucy Gray states
"Then how come none of our mentors showed up?" Coral asks, "Why do you and the little crybaby get special treatment?"
"Because they don't know how to make a good first impression," You immediately answer, cocking a half smile, "That and... Most of them don't... Care like we do."
You werent actually sure if Snow cared about Lucy Gray. But, you knew you cared. Unlike your capitol classmates, except Sejanus, you never grew fond of the games... Having to be a mentor to a tribute who could die...
That's the real kicker to the gut.
Your eyes drift to Lamina. A slight smile appears on her face before she looks down at the floor.
The car came to an abrupt stop. You hear the sounds of the backup noise on a vehicle. All of you begin to waver from the car tilting. All of you begin to fall out of the truck, entering an exhibit.
As you begin to become aware of your surroundings, you recognize the place...
The Capitol zoo.... The hell?
A lot of the citizens on the other sidenof the cage began to murmur. You look over to see Snow absolutely terrified out of his mind.
I'll show him how it's done...
You stand onto your feet and strife towards the camera.
"Ahhh, Y/n Y/l/n," Lucky Flickerman makes his way toward you, "Now tell me, Was it required for you two to be in here with the other tributes?"
"Not exactly. For starters, they didn's tell us not to. Second, Snow and I wanted to leave a good first impression on our tributes," You say, "Let me introduce you all.. To my girl, Lamina."
You outstretched your hand and turn to look at her. She nervously stands to her feet. You walk over to her and gently grab her hand.
"I got you," You whisper, reassuring her
She nods as her hand closes around yours and follows close behind you. For once, she finally gazes up and sees the camera in her face.
"Tell us Lamina, what finally got you to stop crying once you got here?" Lucky asks
She let's go of your hand and reaches into her pocket and shows the half-assed gift you made.
"My mentor made it for me," She looks at you, "Didn't know someone like her could be talented."
"Is that so?" Lucky looks at you
"Like I said, I wanted to leave a good first impression," You smile
You conclude your small interview with Lucky and watch him walk over to Snow. You sigh in relief as you falter in the slightest.
"Do you have any food?" She asks, hiding into your chest
You reach into your skirt pockets and pull out some cookies.
"This is all I have for now," You say
As you place it into her hands, you felt an arm curl under yours and begin to pull you away.
"W-wait hold on!" You tell the peacekeeper
"Please...." Lamina sighs into your arm
She looks up at you, "Handful of us haven't eaten since our reaping..."
"I'll do what I can," You answer
Lamina let's go of your arm as she watches you get dragged out of the cage.
+*+
"Sejanus, got a second?" You ask him
He gets up from the table and you pull him aside.
"I need you to do me a favor," You say
"Yeah, of course," He says
You and Sejanus were close, not as close as he is with Corio. But, since the both of you share the dislike of the hunger games, was how you two grew close. You pull out a few sandwiches and other snacks.
"I need you to bring these to Lamina," You say
"Why don't you?" He asks
"I have a different idea," You say, "But this should tide her over for now."
He nods as he places them in his backpack.
"Done," He says
"You're the best," You smile, patting him on the shoulder
You hastily walk into the kitchen.
"Y/n honey?" Your mother looks up from her work, "Shouldn't you be at lunch right now?"
Your family were cooks for the academy. Not the most glamorous job in the capitol since the dark days, but it got your family around since. Your family taught you, so the academy allowed you to enter the kitchen at anytime you want.
"Kindof, but I want to cook a meal for my tribute," You say, "Enough to last her until the games."
"I know the perfect meal," Your mother goes into the recipie archive
+*+
You take a step back from your creation. Your mom giving you a congratulatory pat on the back.
"I'll wrap it up for you," Your mom tells you
"Thanks mom," You say, continuing to gaze at your masterpiece
+*+
"Psst, Lamina," You quietly call her
The redhead sits up and rubs her eyes. But seemed to fully awaken once she realized it was you.
"Y/n," Lamina sighs, slightly smiling, "Wait how did you get in here?"
"Perks of having a decent amount of money to keep us on our feet," You say, "But enough of that, I brought you something."
You place your backpack down and carefully take out a wrapped meal.
"Y/n," She sighs
Before you even handed her your personal cooked meal, you noticed in her eyes of how shaken up she was.
"Hey, what happened?" You asked
"The girl from 10... She killed her mentor, in which the peacekeepers shot her..." She explains
"Holy shit...." You mutter
You saw that she could smell the food. As you hand it to her, she nearly tears right into the wrapping.
"It's enough to last you until the games," You say
*Lamina's POV* The smell of the food overwhelmed you. You look up at her, waiting for her. But, she nods. You immediately indulge yourself into the meal.
"Oh my- how did you?-"
"Perks of having cooks for parents," Y/n says, "They teach you everything you need to know about cooking."
"Ahh, that must really be nice," You say, "Back home my parents really just taught me how to chop wood for our essential use while they were working at our log factories."
"Do you... Have siblings back home?" She asks
"Got a younger brother," You answer, "But, he's a mere baby. He won't remember me when I die."
"Hey," She coos, reaching out for your hand, "Don't say that. He deserves to have an older sister to look up to."
"I can't guarantee that I'm going to win," You look down at your joined hands
"I'm going to get you home," She says, "I have to go but... Eat up."
She gives your hand a gentle, but firm squeeze as she stands. She takes one last look at you before she makes her leave.
*Y/n's POV* You honestly didn't really want to leave her. You would stay at her side all night if you could. But, you didn't want to upset your family as to why you hadn't returned home.
+*+
You walk into class the next morning...
"You and Snow made quite the impression on the viewers yesterday Y/l/n," Dean Highbottom says
"I only wanted to leave a good impression on my tribute," You say
"I wouldn't recommend getting too close," He suggests
"Trust me Dean, I won't," You say, taking a seat at your usual spot in the class
"I find that hard to believe," He says, "I'm very fond of you, because of your hard work Y/l/n. I only wish you the best."
Though you only try your best to be in the good graces of people. Though that often makes you a pushover to a lot of the capitol students who want to make it to the top. It was like you unintentionally try, and somehow you do the best.
+*+
A peacekeeper shackles Lamina's wrists to the table.
"You all have thirty minutes to discuss strategy for the interviews," Highbottom announces, "You may begin."
You sit down, Lamina doesn't look at you.
"Frankly it's so unnecessary to be shackling all of you like this," You say, "How are you holding up?"
Her lip begins to quiver...
Oh boy...
Immediately she brings her hands up to her face and begin to silently cry to herself.
"Hey," You coo to her
You gently grasp her shackled hands, and slowly bring them down onto the table.
"Lamina, look at me," You calmly tell her
*Lamina's POV* Trying to pull yourself together, and slowly raise your head to look at Y/n. Suddenly, you felt no fear... You no longer felt like crying. You nearly twitch back when you saw Y/n's hand being to rise towards your cheek.
"Sorry," She says, nearly drawing her hand back
However, still feeling calm in her presence, you allow her to gently wipe your face from any tears.
*Y/n's POV* "These interviews are important for you all," You begin to explain, "This will help you get donations from sponsors for the games. However, it'll help me too so that I can send you items that you may need while you're in the arena..."
Lamina begins to cry again...
"Hey hey shhhhh," You calm her, "Do you remember what you told me last night?"
She nods.
"We need to get people to empathize with you, make them feel like they can relate to you," You suggest
"You want them to pity me?" She asks, "Hell no..."
"Lamina," You sigh, clasping your hands over hers, "I don't care about winning for me. I care about winning for you. Winning for you would mean that you'd survive in that arena and you'd get to go home."
"I still don't want them to pity me," Lamina sighs
"Not pity, empathize with you," You say, "Make them feel like they are able to connect with you."
Your fingers brush against her cheek, brushing hair away from her head.
"I'll... I'll try," Lamina says
"Atta girl," You smile
"Time's up," Highbottom says
The peacekeepers begin to forcefully take the tributes back.
"H-hey! Easy with her!" You try to tell the peacekeepers handling her
You were about to reach up to them to escort her back yourself. However, Highbottom grabs your arm and shakes his head.
+*+
You decided to pay Lamina another visit.
"Hey Lamina," You whisper
She turns over; her face lighting up.
"How are you holding up?" You ask, "Those peacekeepers earlier were really man-handling you guys... I was about to sock one in the jaw and escort you back myself..."
"You're too kind," She smiles
"I only want to leave you with a good impression of me," You sigh
"You've already done that," She confesses
"Really? Since when?" You ask
"Since the day you were at the train station," She says
"Now you're too kind," You chuckle, "You know... Even though they taught us to think lowly of the districts, and that you all were monsters. But, getting to know you... It taught me that the capitol was wrong... You.. Proved them wrong."
Lamina doesn't answer you. It caused you to look at her, worrying that you said something wrong.
"I-uhh," You immediately bolt to your feet, "I have to go but- but I'll see you tomorrow for the tour of the arena."
You reluctantly turn your back to her and begin making your way to the entrance, where your mother awaited for your return.
+*+
You meet with Lamina for the tour of the arena. Lamina clung to your arm. From the corner of your eye, a peacekeeper was about to pull Lamina away from you.
"It's fine," You tell them, not allowing them to touch her
Enjoy the Show
Lamina jumps at the saying once the both of you pass the turnstile gate.
"Hey, camera on Coral," Festus Creed gets the camera crew to focus on her
You roll your eyes.
Try-hard...
The lights illuminate the concrete arena. To think people would actually sit in the arena and watch children murder each other was an outrageous concept to you.
"Mentors and Tributes, you have one hour to walk around the Arena and devise a strategy," An announcement echoes

yea that makes sense like we do not wanna do a Coriolanus snow but Lamina ver also making R a peace keeper is a no no for me (personal opinion cuz all of em are messed up either physically CUZ THEIR DEAD or mentally) but maybe R can pull some strings with President Ravinstill to get away to district 7 (maybe R's originally from there and goes back for "political" reasons 👀👀)
Yeah Peacekeepers for me is a no no lol I'll have to figure out something when I get to that chapter lol

YESSSS I was gonna say district 7 but I feel like people would track us down there BUT snows not in power just yet so maybe it'll be fine- We can just ignore the technicalities-
Exactly lmao I wasn't about to have R be a peacekeeper. I was assuming at the time of the 10th hunger games that President Ravinstill was more lenient than Snow (but who knows we don't really get to see much of his character)

we will give her the whole world on a silver platter
she should survive and then we should run away with her to district 13
Oh she'll win the games alright :) may or may not have R leave her capitol life behind and move to District 7 to search/be with Lamina
