Elain’s book is next !
Being in less chapters doesn’t mean less impact.
Nesta was in ACOFAS far less than Elain and yet she was next, because we knew she had something going on DURING ACOFAS which signified her having a journey. Cassian was in that book far more than Nesta as well, and guess what? He was her love interest
Elain was barely in acosf, but there was enough given about her character signifying that she will be next next. That her journey might have already started (the potential spy training) Plus Azriel was constantly on the page and we later on learn that all his secrets were about Elain. If people didn’t read the bonus they’ll still wonder what his secret was, they’d probably need answers in the next book. And only logical answer is Elain + Azriel

I’m going to say something bold: I know who the next ACOTAR books will follow and in what order.
Sarah J Maas told us already. And I have receipts. Not from interviews or old screenshots or interpretations, but actual receipts. From the books.
Starting with A Court of Frost and Starlight’s description on SJM’s site:
We know that ACOFAS bridges the events for the series. And the first novel post ACOFAS is A Court of Silver Flames, which focuses on Nesta and Cassian.
So let’s dive deeper…
THE EVIDENCE
Exhibit 1
In Chapter 2, we have Rhysand’s conversation with Cassian asking a very important question of Cassian: Are you … happy?
Cassian is the first character to be asked if they were happy and gave a response that showed a need for character growth, one that Rhysand observed and wanted to support.
And whose book, along with his love interest, was first in the upcoming novels in the series? Cassian and Nesta’s.
The first character to be asked Are you happy? was the first character to find his happiness in the first spin-off novel.
Exhibit 2
In Chapter 12, the question is again repeated, this time from Feyre to Elain, who asks her sister: Are you—all right?
Elain is now the second character to be asked if they were “happy/all right” and respond in such a way that indicates that no, they aren’t fully all right but they want to try.
Elain’s book will be next as she is the second person to be asked the question by our narrators, Feyre and Rhysand. Who also happen to be SJM's stand-ins for propelling the narrative in ACOFAS.
Exhibit 3
And finally, in Chapter 18, Feyre and Mor are catching up Solstice morning and the subject of Elain and Nesta is discussed:
Feyre wants to “fix everything” for Nesta and Elain aka help them find their happiness (which is later supported by the Feysand’s infamous “let's focus on helping one sister before we start on the other” from their ACOSF Bonus Chapter, but I digress).
But they won't find their happiness in ACOFAS. The sisters must find it in their books, which Nesta did with Cassian in his.
And then for a third and final time, it’s now Mor’s turn to hear the same question, this time from Feyre: And you—are you happy?
Mor isn’t ready to answer honestly. At least, not yet. Because her time will come. In her book. Which will be third.
Which leads me to...
CONCLUSION
SJM gave us the order of the ACOTAR sequel series when she had Feyre and Rhysand ask their closest companions: Are you happy?
And what order were they asked?
Cassian. Then Elain. Then Mor.
And that’s the order we will get our answers. In their books. First, second, then third.

The trembling fawn
I think I’m slow 😅
I’ve seen many people use the passage trembling fawn as mentioned by the book of breathing to refer to Elain and I always assumed it’s because
1) her name
2) because Feyre called her a lovely fawn.
But it’s interesting that this is exactly what the Suriel called her.
I wonder if there’s more to it than just a silly little title. I’ve seen people mention princess of decay for Nesta and then she ended up controlling death? Dead bodies? Sooo does the Fawn somehow related to Elain’s powers? Although initially I did assume all of these were referring to Feyre soooo mmm did sjm do this intentionally or connect the dots later or just forget about it 🤔

All of this focus on Azriel’s horny feelings for Elain, but can we please talk about how Elain completely led her moment with Az in the bonus chapter?
Elain closed the distance, and her breathing quickened as she again paused, now a scant foot away.
Azriel let his shadows whisk away the box as she said softly, "Put it on me?"
His head went quiet. But he took the necklace, opening the clasp as she exposed her back, sweeping her hair up in one hand to bare her long, creamy neck.
Azriel's fingers lingered at her nape, atop the first knob of her spine. Slowly, Elain pivoted into his touch. Until his palm lay flat against her neck.
"I should go," Elain said, but made no move to leave.
Her arousal drifted up to him, and his eyes nearly rolled back in his head at the sweet scent. He'd beg on his knees for a chance to taste it.
Elain shuddered, drifting closer. So close one deep breath would brush her breasts against his chest.
“Yes" Elain breathed, like she read the decision. Just this taste in the dead of the longest night of the year, where only the Mother might witness them.
Elain's mouth parted slightly, her eyes scanning his before fluttering shut.
Offer and permission.
Girlie went for what she wants and Azriel, ever the gentleman, read her cues perfectly and only took what she offered. I love a couple built with respect and mutual attraction, there’s truly nothing hotter.

The latter while still being subject of intrigue was not her aim for the night as she got ready. She had never gotten drunk, tipsy yes. But that was usually her limit, she never pushed herself beyond it. And then there was the question of the strangers. The idea of it brought an involuntary blush to her cheeks, she wasn’t opposed to the idea. It was that she couldn’t imagine a stranger without her mind turning it into the face of a familiar someone. The hazel eyes, the full lips. She shut her eyes trying to shake the image of him.

Elain’s feelings
I know that people always focus on Azriel’s feelings in the bonus, which is understandable considering it was in his POV. But Elain’s feelings are clearly shown there too. For example:
She extended the wrapped gift, her hand shaking. "Here."
Her hand shaking
Her hand SHAKING
SHAKING.
Elain is so down bad for Azriel something as simple as handing him a gift got her hand shaking. We simply can’t ignore how Azriel makes her feel, it’s shown in the actual book as well as ACOFAS, a bonus can’t erase that. She’s so cute I love her and I CAN’T wait for her POV. She’s so precious.

Okey so it’s literally 2am here and i couldn’t sleep after seeing this so we know that there is some similarities between the UK map and the map of prythian right? and from the moment i finished acotar i wondered where does rosehall locate in, i did my researches about if there is any part of the world is named after rosehall and guess what ? There is !! And guess where ? In the UK i was shocked so lemme show you where it’s actually located in the UK first and then i will show where it can be possibly located in prythian

Am I the only one who took this as foreshadowing to the eyes under his command being blinded in the next book ?

This paragraph goes on:
“Nesta met his stare, knowing he was the only one aside from Feyre who could truly understand her hesitation. He’d gone with Feyre into the heart of Hybern’s camp to save Elain—he knew the risk. “We won’t make the same mistake twice.”
What SJM is wanting to invoke within readers through this little scene:
Azriel is protective of Elain.
He’s taking ownership over Elain’s protection (ahem…mate behavior✨)
He organized those under HIS command to guard Elain. Even though Rhys (the most powerful high lord of all time) already had wards up. He doesn’t trust Rhys wards alone to do the job. This alone has me 🥵
He had to have the forethought to set up this protection which means he’s been thinking of her safety.
“Menace” is defined as a threatening tone, quality or atmosphere. The thought of Elain being unsafe provokes a threatening tone from him
Nesta notices and points out that only Azriel and Feyre would understand the fear/threat to Elain.

Azriel whose shadows swarm at the thought of someone upsetting Elain and prepare to strike anyone who insults her.
Azriel who avoids family dinners Elain attends and the house she resides in because he knows he can’t control himself around her.
Azriel who has to stand in the doorway because he can’t stand the sight and smell of Elain’s mating bond with Lucien.
Azriel who has Elain’s gift to him on his bedside table, not to use, but to look at every night.
Azriel who can’t sleep and has to train in the dead of night to keep his wants and needs for Elain at bay.
Azriel who is willing to beg on his knees for a chance to taste Elain.
Azriel who questions the Cauldron, a part of fae religion, because his feelings for Elain are so strong.
It’s no wonder antis cheer Rhys on for ordering Az to stay away from Elain. No one else stands a chance when he is this feral for her (and we love to see it).

This whole thread reminded me of this conversation from ACOFAS between Nesta and Feyre. I completely missed it the first time I read it, but it’s interesting knowing this about Elain !
Yes Nesta can command an entire ballroom but all I can think about is the fact that Elain likes a Waltz, the most romantic of dances. 🥹🩷
