basically this was a fic idea i had with a friend where harry pours a lot of money into multiverse related developments at oscorp and peter is the one that comes through the portal. harry is enamored immediately and basically becomes his sugar daddy but he’s also a dick
meanwhile parker has to deal with his best friend is dating an alternate universe version of himself while also grasping at the fact that he has a crush on him too and is jealous because he knows he’d be a better partner than harry

so do you guys like actually ship this or do you just find the actors hot and want to watch them make out or something
why do people always assume that shipping is the same as fetishizing actors? as far as i'm concerned the peters are completely different from their actors, because duh, they're acting.
but let me pose this question to you, dear anon, when you see a male character and a female character on screen and think they would be a good couple, would you only do so if the actors are hot? no, because these characters have motives, personality traits, and aspects of themselves that could in a romantic setting challenge or benefit the other.
people only got a problem with shipping if there's people with the same gender involved. it's crazy to think how much fandom culture has changed over the years. never thought i'd have to explain the nature of shipping to someone.

Apologies for the long ask, but I l’ve come back to Spider-Man after a while, and I like your doubleparker posts, and also you don’t have to post if it’s not on-brand, but I figured maybe you might find this interesting?
I think Peter 2 and Peter 3 are really such complements to each other as characters, but also as figures of their respective universes. I don’t know how to explain it, but maybe you and other doubleparker shippers catch my drift?
I’m aware that they are products of their respective creative choices taken, certain bits of executive meddling, their directors’ visions, etc., but in both in-universe and in a meta sense, the Raimiverse and Webbverse feel generally complementary to one another. Or at least, they counter each other in various ways (the MCU is a different beast altogether, no offense Tom 😅).
For starters, the Raimiverse feels warmer and bright, but the Webbverse gives colder, darker vibes
Raimi’s series ending with a reinforced connection with Peter 2, MJ, and Harry even as Harry dies, while Webb’s series is still ambiguous (as it ended prematurely), and with Peter 3 losing Gwen, as well as losing a still alive Harry in a different sense
That’s not even going into how Raimi’s Harry + Peter and Webb’s Harry + Peter seem to somewhat mirror each other; they bear quite a bit of physical resemblance, while there is a contrast in connection/disconnection between them (the closeness of Raimi’s Harry/Peter pre-movie vs. the separation of Webb’s Harry/Peter pre-movie)
The meta:
The fact that the Raimiverse had set the status quo on Spider-Man films, while I consider the Webbverse the underdog, going by general public perception (which thankfully has gotten better post-NWH)
I love Raimi MJ and Webb Gwen, but I found some of the criticism towards them interesting in that they’re such opposite ends of the spectrum, even while I personally disagree with said criticism—I’ve seen MJ get some flack for being a damsel in distress that bogs down Peter, while on the opposite end, I’ve seen Gwen get some flack for being overly competent that undermines Peter (which again, I highly don’t agree with, but think it’s interesting in how polarized it is).
They’re open ended in their own ways—the Raimiverse managed to tell a complete story with its trilogy but there’s room to tell more stories between then and NWH; conversely, the Webbverse never finished their story, and is more open in that there’s deliberate setup for future stories and more mystery in the developments between then and NWH
There’s probably more, but this is just what comes to mind. I really hope the Peters can interact again, and it would be cool if other Raimiverse characters can interact with other Webbverse characters, even just a “What If?” kind of situation.
yes!! my friends and i chat about this all the time, and we use these compatible traits in a lot of the stuff we work on. they're similar, but they're also not.
similarities:
as mentioned in the previous post, clear signs of neurodivergence, although it's never explicitly stated in the films
understanding of their roles as vigilantes (great power comes great responsibility)
the unfortunate sacrifice of their personal lives to keep their loved ones safe
differences:
obvious visual differences such as size, build, looks, and personality
parker's confidence as he becomes a well seasoned spider-man versus peter's insecurities and guilt during his time
peter's need of approval as seen in nwh versus parker's desire to uplift the people around him
i could list more but these are the obvious ones that come to mind for me, and what i apply to my writing and art! ❤️
