Depressing. Movie. Ever.
Konichiwa. Haven't written in a while. But here we go. I watched Saikaku Ichidai Onna. Or Life of Oharu
I'm very much so depressed by this movie. It's sad, but also a beautiful dark movie. I was pretty intrigued by this foreign film. It made me appreciate everything in my life so much more. I mean I could have had her life growing up, but it made me realize how lucky I am to be living in California only an hour away from both San Diego and Los Angeles.
Sometimes you just need to watch a foreign film to make you appreciate your life. I mean I understand it's fiction, but hey, her life could be my life now. But it's not. So I'm happy. Slightly depressed by this movie, but happy for the life I live. Sorry I went very deep and sentimental on this film, but it truly is an amazing film that all people should watch.
Next movie, I promise to go in a happier direction.

I'm traveling here one day. No doubt in my mind that I will make it there.
I'd love to get lost in Italy. I think Lost with Lanot will be quite suitable in Italy.

If I had special ass-kicking powers...
...I would've kicked some serious ass to whoever ended this next movie I'm going to talk about.
I watched: I Am Number Four
So I actually really liked this movie. Up until it ended. On a stupid open-ended note. With no way of knowing whether the sequel will be as ass-kicking as the first.
Basically these aliens had some special powers and were trying to not die from these other aliens. Alex Pettyfer played John Smith, or Number Four. While I only have fallen for Pettyfer because he played the Beast in my favorite novel that went Hollywood movie (Beastly) he actually wasn't half bad in this movie. I love guys with an accent and pretty eyes, so he basically stole my heart that way. And once he got his powers, well every girl loves a guy who can kick some ass.
But in all honesty the actor that completely stole the show was the dog.
Seriously the cutest little thing ever. I even shed some tears after he fought to save Pettyfer's life. I couldn't help but love this dog. Even more than I love Pettyfer not having a shirt on. It's just one of those things.
Basically if you're into aliens and other life-forms or into people who can kick some serious ass with special powers. I mean Number Six was actually pretty cool. Then watch this movie. I might have hated the ending, but the other parts were pretty good.
But Watch Out for that dog. When you watch it you'll understand why he was probably the best actor of the entire movie. And why I really want a dog like that.

You're such a townie
Cutting to the chase. I watched: The Town
So it was a pretty badass movie. I enjoyed it, a lot.
Surprised that Ben Affleck directed this movie because he did an excellent job in all the cinematography done in this action flick.
Not to mention Affleck who also starred as Doug MacRay was pretty damn cut for the movie. I mean he really decided to work out for this movie and for that I give him a bravo. In the past his movies weren't the ultimate best, but I have to say this is one of his best films that he's done. His role was great and he really got into a very believable character that made me feel for him.
And I love Jeremy Renner. After him being in the movie The Hurt Locker, he's been one of my favorite actors. He played the badass 'brother' James Coughlin. And he did pretty damn well playing a Boston Townie Bank Robber.
So the plot was engaging, the actors were great, and I couldn't help but love this movie. So it's a definite MUST watch if you're into bank robbers and action movies!
Oh plus, if you want to see Blake Lively do a completely different role than her usual preppy 'Look at my hot blonde hair flowing in the wind' type of role, then it's a definite must see. 'Cause as soon as I saw Lively I went 'Well that's different, she's a crack whore in this movie.' But she surprisingly did very well with this character, so I applaud her for that.
So watch this movie!

Charlie bit the dust
... Or not.
So a movie I watched today at my parents house, not on my Netflix actually, but on HBO On Demand that's on my DVD list for Netflix is: Charlie St. Cloud
Yes, that would be Zac Efron on the cover. And I'm sorry for anyone that might not like Mr. Efron. But Damn. He's just too pretty for his own good.
The movie was pretty heartfelt and Efron as this crazy ruggedly graveyard caretaker/sailer was kinda hot from his usual pretty boy I'm more popular than you roles he usually does.
But the person that got to me was the little Red Sox Fan that played Sammy (played by Charlie Tahan). He was absolutely adorable and really stole the show when it was just him and Efron on the screen.
In all, Yes this movie made me cry. And YES Zac Efron took his shirt off and I have to say, holy shit I wanted to be Amanda Crew (She played Tess in the movie) laying naked with Efron on the ground in the graveyard (yeah kinda weird, but hey I'll take it just to see that upper body up close and personal.) So yeah. I'd watch it if you like romance movies and heartfelt ones that can make you cry. I enjoyed it. Why not try it out?

Ay Que Rico
Lo siento para not posting in awhile, but I needed a break for christmas time plus I work retail and been working a lot. But I have watched a few movies (or more like only 2) since my last post.
For this one I went for something completely different. I went for the foreign film. Mostly cause I had to analyze this video for a paper I wrote last night for my film class. But heres my review for: Y Tu Mama Tambien.
While this wasn't exactly on my Netflix instant watch list, it has showed up as an unforgettable romantic movie when I browse romance movies. And let me tell you it was pretty unforgettable.
While I was not prepared for the minute in the movie complete sex scene, ass and all, as the movie progressed it did get better and the plot was fairly interesting.
Yes, I had to watch the movie about three times to truly appreciate it and all its beauty because at first watch I found the movie profoundly odd and not particularly my first choice of a romance movie (I'm more of romantic cheesy comedy movie person-ish) But after analyzing it scene by scene and figuring out the true meaning behind each color that pops up and the desaturation that director Alfonso Cuaron so strategically did throughout the progression of the movie, I have complete appreciation for this movie.
Not to mention seeing Diego Luna (He plays Tenoch) as a wee kid was kinda cute and Gael Bernal (He plays Julio) has beautiful eyes that popped out with every blue shirt he wore. But the true gem in this particular movie is Maribel Verdu who plays the older woman Luisa in this sick and twisted, yet beautiful romantic drama/ friendship movie.
SO in all, while many might find this oddly weird as I did at first. I learned to look past all the random nudity and odd random stories, as well as having to read subtitles to understand the film, and found this movie a must see. It's beautiful in a cinematographer sense.
Plus after watching the movie about three times I got to bust out my high school spanish and see if I can understand what they're saying. And now sometimes I can't help but say Ay Que Rico for something awesome. Or Chinga Tu Madre when pissed (which is bad to say kids!). Or even just talk with a spanish accent. It's become my new thing now.

Pay-It-Forward- Happy Holidays
This post is dedicated to the lady who paid for my Starbucks drink at the drive-thru line this morning. She just said Happy Holidays to the girl working there who told me what she did. Never thought that would ever happen, especially to me. There really are kind souls out there.
While I didn't know the unspoken rule for this was to buy the person's drink behind me as a pay it forward, I did decide to pay it forward by donating my Starbucks money, plus a little extra to the UNICEF Charity fund for the kids. And if you donate before Dec. 31 other donors will match your fund!
So to the lady at the Starbucks Drive-Thru, if it wasn't for your random act of kindness I wouldn't have ever donated to this charity and helped save some lives. Thank you!
If you yourself want to donate please go to this website and donate, as small or big as you want. Or at least REBLOG this for others to see and help them to do something great for the Holidays. Pay-It-Forward, amazing idea and I sincerely feel donating is a great thing.

Thanks!

Gridlock... No survival.
So I finally watched TRON: Legacy. This movie has been sitting on my instant watch for as long as it came out and I have finally come around to it! Especially since I've been jamming to its soundtrack for a while (Go Daft Punk!).
So this movie. Amazing CGI! The gridlock scene was so crazy awesome that I now want a stick that after I run and then jump in the air it'll turn into a motorcycle or hovercraft thing. I mean who the hell wouldn't want that handy. I mean I don't particularly want to die if I come across another person's light thing that comes out of their bike, but just the concept of having a stick that can become a car or flying hovercraft is just amazing to me. (The stick line can be dirty in a million different ways, just saying.)
While I haven't exactly seen the first Tron (I know shame on me) this seemed to be pretty awesome, in the whole cinematographer sense at least. Storyline got a bit dry at times with it's father son troubles, but still manageable enough for me to like the movie.
And Garrett Hedlund who plays Sam Flynn was pretty nice eye candy throughout the movie, not to mention the tron outfits were pretty kick-ass. I want a glowing outfit like that to just walk around in.
And then having Jeff Bridges as Kevin Flynn be back in the movie I hear is an awesome thing. There can be no comparison to the original Tron, especially since this is supposed to be a sequel not a remake people. So alone it was a well done movie with amazing graphics.
But one thing that completely stood out and made me ponder when I watched the movie was... I would never survive. If the only rule is survival I would've been gone as soon as that Asian guy threw the disc at me.

Call me a Hopeless Romantic
So for tonight's movie I decided to go for a completely different movie from Mortal Kombat. I went for a movie I kept seeing on recommended list. I always passed by it, but never actually decided to click on it and watch it. Until now.
And let me tell you, I was welling up like a baby who wants her mommy.
I watched the movie: Waiting for Forever
The stars were Rachel Bilson and Tom Sturridge. While it wasn't exactly the best romantic film of all time, i have to say it had me in tears... throughout the film.
Call me a hopeless romantic crybaby, but I couldn't contain my tears. Just like Sturridge couldn't contain his love for Bilson, it just followed me throughout the movie (And when you watch it, that pun will make better sense).
I couldn't help but feel the love this guy had for this girl, I started to cry as soon as I heard that fluffy love story he told in the beginning of the movie. Yes, I am a bit of a crybaby at sappy romantic things of this type of sort, but I can't help it. I'm a girl. A girl that cries at sappy romantic love stories. So basically you'll love this if you're into that sort of thing like I am. Well I'm into almost every sort of movie out there... well almost.
So in all, while not the best film of all time, I have to give it a few boxes of tissues 'cause boy, it made me cry and have the 'aw' moment that everyone wants in their life.
Oh and for anyone that has seen EuroTrip, our very own Scotty (Scott Mechlowicz) made an appearance as the brother. Since EuroTrip is one of my favorite movies of all time, I couldn't take Scotty seriously 'cause all I could hear whenever I saw him on my screen was the song 'Scotty Doesn't Know..." playing in the background of every scene he was in.
But DON'T do that if you want to feel the amazing crying heartfelt stuff of the movie, please try to overlook that and see that he is a pretty good actor and had some scenes that made me bawl out like a little girl who just crashed her bike into a bush.
Bring a box of tissues if you watch this. Just as a forewarning... Or maybe I just cry too much and you can watch it and just say awwwww through out the movie. The choice is yours...

Finish HIM...
So for my first movie that I watched since I made up my winter break goal is: Mortal Kombat: The Movie
So Basically this movie kicked ass. And I literally mean they kicked some serious ass. While, yes, there were some really cheesy scenes and unrealistic fights and the graphics weren't exactly Avatar-ed. But for a film based on characters from a video game that I used to play as a kid (which now that I think about it, I probably shouldn't have been playing this game) it was pretty kick ass.
But in all honesty, the reason why I actually enjoyed this action flick is mostly 'cause it did remind me of my childhood days of when I used to play the girl characters all the time (Cause DUH I have to always be the girl, considering I'm a girl). Not to mention there was some women empowerment in this when Sonya Blade [played by Bridgette Wilson] pretty much kicked this guys ass, especially with her little handstand 'let me break your neck with my thighs' move she did. I mean if that's not enough women empowerment then I don't know what is (actually I do, but it makes my point sound better).
So in all, this was a kick ass movie with some kick ass characters like sub-zero, Scorpion and Kitana, just to name a few. And it reminded me of the days of when I would just press random buttons on my Nintendo playing Mortal Kombat with Sonya or Kitana and killing Scorpion with my random combo move that I never know how to mimic a second time. O' the days of playing inappropriate games for a little girl.
Plus you can't help but say the line 'FINISH HIM' at the end of every fight. I know I had to mimic the deep man voice and yell 'FINISH HIM' to my computer screen just to feel the satisfaction of every mortal kombat.

Goal for Winter Break
So my goal for this winter break is simple: Watch every movie that's on my Netflix Instant Watch.
Sounds reasonable, BUT I keep adding things to my queue (Unintentionally of course) which kind of builds it up, a lot. I'm at 107 movies. And I have about a month until school starts again.
I think I can do this... As long as I don't watch a movie and then end up adding three new ones, then I can do this.
Oh and I plan on attempting to write a short (well as short as I can get it to be) movie review after I watch the movies on my list. And I have some weird and random movies on my instant watch list. So don't judge me, I'm trying to be well-rounded in my movies.
Lights. Camera. Let's watch some movies.

American 'I'd like some Tate' Horror Story
So after tonight's episode of American Horror Story, I was in complete shock. But here's the weirdest part... I've never thought I'd want someone like Evan Peters, or Tate Langdon more than ever before...
I'm sorry but this badass walk and look he had going on really just jumped all bones. Disregard the burning man in the background, I couldn't help but focus all my attention to this misguided man.
Not to mention his little "Hi, I'm Tate. I'm dead. Wanna Hook up?" cutesy ending to a tragic and crazy ending to an episode.
It's official though. I have the hots for Evan Peters as Tate Langdon.

Singin' & Dancing in the Rain
Hello Tumblr World! I am officially back into the social networking world. And with my first post back, I would like to do a movie review. Well my version of a movie review.
While this is definitely an old movie, I love watching old movies and saying whether it's good or bad. And with my new cinematography knowledge, I can go into deeper meanings of things (well sorta).
Yes, that is the movie poster of the iconic and legendary movie, Singing' in the Rain, starring Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor and Debbie Reynolds. This 1952 film was definitely a huge hit back in its day and has become pretty much a movie norm for any filmmakers and cinematographers out there, and well any one in the human race.
So what I'm pretty much saying is... If you call yourself a real movie buff or want to get into the film making business, then you should've:
A.) Already have seen this movie at least once... or 50xs
B.) Have taken at least one film or cinema class that required you to watch this movie
C.) At least know the lyrics to Singin' in the Rain
If you were not able to check off one of these three things, then you are a disgrace to the film world, please stop reading this and find a new career or hobby...
:) Just Kidding.
But in all seriousness, I recommend to all people to watch this movie. This isn't the first time I've seen it, I just re-watched it for my film class and believe me, I enjoyed it just as much as the last time. Even if your genre isn't musicals, it's still a great film to watch. This movie is based on a time period of when talkies erupted into the silent film world of movies. And while, I personally LOVE musicals, this does stand out on its own. It's not the same cheesy musicals you see out there where they will all so randomly burst into song and dance in the most inappropriate times, all the dance and singing numbers are pretty well placed.
Not to mention Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, and Donald O'Connor are all terrific dancers. And just because they don't Pop, Lock or Drop it like it's Hot, does not mean they aren't wonderful dancers. I would love to challenge anyone out there to do some of their dance numbers in that movie. I know I'd fall flat on my face if I tried some of those dance moves, my legs won't be able to keep up.
While some may say it's just another stupid musical romantic love story, then yes it can just be another stupid musical romantic love story. But I don't look at it that way, I see it as a movie with great dance numbers, songs that make you smile, and two people who happen to fall in love along the way. The plot moves along quite fine in my opinion, I don't want to really talk too much about plot, but it kept me interested and that's what filmmakers want, to keep the audience interested.
And with the great popularity of this movie, I know any Glee lovers HAVE to watch this movie. Because they didn't just do a cover of Make 'Em Laugh and a mashup of Singin' in the Rain for nothing. It's because it's a wonderful movie that many music lovers appreciate and you can't really appreciate that Glee episode without appreciating the original.
But I guess if you have a close mind about musicals then I really can't change your mind about watching this film. But to anyone with an open mind, watch the movie. I recommend watching it and maybe you can get a few laughs from the film especially from O'Connor's character, or maybe you can truly appreciate the art of the film with all the dancing and singing going on. I know when I used to dance when I was younger, I would practice for hours a day almost 7 days a week for one performance, image having to perfect it for a movie and then in the end look that good, you know that it couldn't have been easy.
So I give this movie a 'You-HAVE-to-Watch-THIS-Musical-at-Least-Once-in-your-Life'
...and then maybe you can enjoy musicals more after this movie... That or at least now when you're out in the rain, you may just find lost in the rain and find yourself humming to Singing in the Rain by Kelly or even find yourself dancing in it. I know I have.

So this guy. Amazing. Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I want him. Now. Decided to post this as one of my last few posts before I leave the social networking world and focus all my attention on school and getting good grades. And every monday night at 8pm I think it's best that I focus my attention to CBS for How I Met Your Mother :)
Back to the photo, I wanted to go to the Fall Formal which is going to be hosted by Mr. Gordon-Levitt himself, but unfortunately I have class all night and my schedule cannot permit it. So I will be there in spirit! Anyone that goes to the fall formal, have fun for me! And let me know how sexy Joseph Gordon-Levitt is!
So this will be my last blog post for a while and so I want to leave you with this. Please watch How I Met Your Mother every Monday night at 8 pm on CBS.
And every Friday night on the Travel Channel is the show Ghost Adventures, they are all three very sweet guys and I believe that you have to watch the show and be amazed by them. Zak Bagans, Nick Groff and Aaron Goodwin are amazing people (Yes, I've met them, twice to be exact) and I think by watching their show every friday night at 9pm on the travel channel is the best support anyone could ever ask for them, and I think they deserve it. So  watch them on Friday nights. I KNOW you may have a date or want to go out, but on those days that you stay in turn on your TV and watch the travel channel to see Ghost Adventures!! They're truly amazing, I love them and love watching their show, it shows through the TV how passionate they are about what they do.
AND so LASTLY, in the words of the Jonas Brothers, which I posted on my twitter just recently, "Don't give up stand 'till the end... Hold On. There's more to life than just to live." And that's exactly what I will be doing, I will not give up and I will live my life to fullest. And while I may be taking myself out of the social networking world for a long time, I will be doing some good and will be focusing on school so I can graduate and start my future and end up with a good and healthy life.
:D

Season 6 of How I Met Your Mother goes out on DVD tomorrow! And guess who's going to be AWESOME and buy it? Yes, this girl is! Oh yeah, it's going to be Legendary.
So it's pro's and con's time for Season 7 of How I Met Your Mother!
Pro of HIMYM - EVERYTHING.
Con of HIMYM - That I keep missing season 7 episodes due to class and meetings on Mondays...
Anywhooo. Time to for an early rest. I foresee long days ahead... And I kid you not on these literal long days ahead. But it's okay. I keep my head high and sometimes in the midst of my long days I can get lost in thought. And those thoughts sometimes can be a motivation to keep working hard throughout the day.
Happy dreaming. Get lost in your dream. You never know what you might find :)
