okay, imagine an au of the 2021 film where Kuai Liang ends up in the custody of Jax and Sonya before they know about the tournament. Like Jax has his marking and they're aware that something's up, but they don't know the details

Sonya: Care to tell us what you were doing at that crime scene?

Kuai Liang, handcuffed to a table: Not particularly

Jax: Do you know how that guy ended up frozen solid?

Kuai Liang: Me.

Sonya: Excuse me?

Kuai Liang: You're excused

Jax: So what, you used some sort of weapon?

Kuai Liang grins, leaning forward as his eyes flash blue: I am the weapon

Sonya and Jax, pushing their chairs as far away from him as possible while trying to look casual about it: Okay, okay, cool cool cool

(look me in my eyes and tell me that he isn't a snarky mother fucker when he wants to be. Given his dialogue in the mkx comics and some of his intros, I am convinced that he likes to mess with his opponents when he can get away with it.)

For context, Kuai Liang and Hanzo are getting married, this takes place in the aftermath of Hanzo's bachelor party (and Johnny's insistence) as he, Johnny, Kenshi, Jax, Liu Kang, and Kung Lao are all sitting in Sonya's office, deeply hung over

Sonya: Fifty thousand dollars worth of property damage

Liu Kang winces

Sonya: Nine speeding tickets

Jax curses under his breath

Sonya: A restraining order

Kenshi chuckles (that had nothing to do with the bachelor party, he just ran into a former red dragon and caused a scene)

Sonya: Seven different animals set loose from the zoo

Kung Lao: They just looked so sad!

Sonya: The entire thing posted to social media

Johnny groans.
