Ok so my 'hiatus' lasted about a decade, but my first Tumblr post was June 2012.
You could still comment by Facebook and Disqus!
(If you took a hiatus from tumblr, put the year you first joined)

Or just do what Roddy Doyle does and not use any tag for most dialogue
I know everyone says it’s best to just stick to “said” as a dialogue tag bc it disappears and that’s true and I mostly do but I want to take a moment for my all-time favorite dialogue tag, “lied.” Absolutely nothing hits like “‘I’m here to help,’ he lied.” NOTHING.

I do not want this. And that's ok! You're not supposed to want it! It's ok to be annoyed!
I want the writer’s strike to last until they get everything they demand and more. I want the SAG strike to last until AI is entirely forbidden across the board in the entire industry. I want CGI artists to unionize and strike. I want animators to strike. I want composers and directors and designers and VAs and techies and producers and stage hands and game devs and programmers and recording artists to strike.
I want every aspect of the entertainment industry brought to a grinding halt for months or even years to take it from the corps and put it back in the hands of the artists.

Not worldwide. America.
This halloween is just going to be a worldwide event of people walking around in adorable outfits saying “Hi Barbie!” to each other. What a time to be alive.

I don't think this is quite true, and certainly not fair to blame Nolan for what would have been Universal's decision.
They were all credited, just not by name. A group credit is still a credit. Not great, but not what's being suggested here.

Hey yeah in the midst of all the hype and the strikes, can we PLEASE fucking talk about this

I can't emphasise enough how much I hate this idea.
Films can be both for children and for adults! And Barney the Dinosaur is a potentially exciting property to use to that end - you don't have to make it edgy!
I'd honestly love the idea of a big Barney musical film that appeals to *everyone*.

Just watched the Red Dwarf XII episode "Skipper"
To think that this came out in 2017, way before this 'multiverse' trend really kicked off. And that it did it so much better!
I really didn't like 'Everything Everywhere All At Once', I have to say, and this does exactly what I'd hoped that film would do. In particular, it uses the multiverse to advance character in a way I don't think EEAAO ever really managed to do.
What a fantastic episode.

Just watched the new Mission Impossible film and it made me sad that Doctor Who fans were so narrow-minded about the prospect of the David Yates reboot in 2011
This is what can happen when a TV show is rebooted as a big budget movie franchise, and we shouldn't be sniffy about it!

I do worry about the effect the writers' & actors' strikes will have on cinema. Obviously, I support their right to strike. That said, cinemas are already struggling, and if there's an absence of new films in a couple of years, that could threaten their existence.
It's all very well saying, "just make do with the many many existing films!" - but that's not going to keep cinemas in business when there are no big films to show.
I hope this is all sorted quickly.

Honestly, it is going to be hard to support the strike for this reason.
But strikes like this should be hard to support. Otherwise, what's the point?
seeing people be like ‘I know it’s going to be hard to support the sag strike because movies and shows will stop coming out but-’ is so fucking funny like can I introduce you to a beautiful concept called the million billion movies and shows that already exist that you couldn’t even get through in a lifetime if you wanted. welcome to heaven <3

Also as someone who has come here from other places - if I wanted somewhere like that, I wouldn't have come here! I would have just stayed there!
fr tho @staff why are you trying to make tumblr more like other sites why are you destroying your niche in the market please there have got to be ways to make tumblr more accessible to new users without sacrificing the very things that your existing userbase loves

Honestly, this terrifies me. It's a recipe for really intense public shaming. Imagine being 'cancelled' by millions of people.
When will we learn that social media needs to become more intimate, not bigger?
