I’m so sad I just married Sam on Stardew Valley and now he misses his family and says that skating doesn’t feel like it used to, what have I done to him?!
"have you learned how to drive yet" i have the spirit of friendship in my heart. the joy of lifes little things in my soul. the whimsy of magic. the beautiful enjoyment of nature. the answer is no though
my middle aged client going off about kids these days and how they have such a different childhood and back in the day kids used to have real experiences like how she and her girl friends used to practice kissing on each other and now kids just sit in the same room in silence on their damn phones. hey ma'am run that back real quick
This self sacrificial bs is why I kin Tim Drake, that and he’s the only canonically queer Robin… so far
"you can't fix everyone, tim"
"i know.. but they need someone to try"
(sorry it's so sketchy. i got lazy and gave up... also this was inspired by the discussion that tim sees broken men and go "i can fix him" no you can't)
With the live action Avatar the Last Airbender series coming out in a few days, I’ve seen a lot of articles and interviews talking about what’s different, followed by many angry or disappointed fans.
I have decided not to judge these differences in the show until I watch it. For a few reasons reasons, one how exactly the differences affect the show can’t be fully explained in an article, two, this is an adaptation it is going to be different and that isn’t necessarily a bad thing, and three I plan to watch the whole thing even if it is a shit show.
One thing that I will comment on before watching the show is the young actors media exposure. This project has a lot of eyes on it so interviews and media coverage are inevitable, however, I think the level of media coverage that focuses on the child actors is doing more harm than good for the kids AND the show overall.
The TikTok account that focuses on the young actors, the amount of interviews, and all of the behind the scenes is making those kids into a bigger target. People tend to forget that the actors are merely a canvas for the creative teams decisions, if there is something about the show you do not like, chances are it is not the actors fault so plz don’t bully them. I think with these actors being minors the creative team should be even more responsible for protecting them from the public eye, rather than trying to market them as cool, fun, and relatable.
I think this kind of thing has been popularized with the popularity of stranger things and their cast. I don’t like it. It’s like they are trying to sell the likeness and personality of the child actors, rather than focusing on the characters. I know it’s kind of inevitable that these kids are gonna be exposed to the media, but if we can try to maintain a professional level of distinction between the kids and their characters and not act like the media is entitled to their personal lives, maybe they can have a healthier developmental period.
