I cracked the code on Zendaya's Michelle!

So it’s revealed the full name of Zendaya’s charcter is Michelle Jones. Or MJ for short.
Now it’s confirmed she’s the MCU version of Mary Jane Watson. The well known love interest of Spiderman.
Besides the changes in personality and appearance, they went the extra mile of changing her name. From Mary Jane to Michelle Jones.
But did they really?
Michelle is a feminine counterpart to the name Michael. The name Michael is usually associated with the Archangel from the Bible. Archangel Michael is considered to be the general of Heaven’s army, his counterpart would be the Queen of Heaven: The Virgin Mary.
Jones is a variation on the name John. And the feminine version for the name John? Jane (ie: John Doe - Jane Doe)
I may have read way into this, but this could be the writers’ way of putting their own updated spin on MJ while nodding to her original canon name
