golden kamuy resources masterpost (where to read in different languages, how to find information, etc.)

ENGLISH

PLACES TO READ ENGLISH TRANSLATIONS

unofficial translations by everyday heroes. currently around 20+ chapters behind japanese releases, done from scans of published jp volumes

JAPANESE

PLACES TO READ JAPANESE SCANS

less complete but still substantial collection of weekly scans on sen manga. word of caution: pop ups, possible malware. also updates at least one day slower than other links in this section

another reliably updating scans site on manga-spoiler, although only has the most recent 20 or so chapters

PLACES TO FIND SUMMARIES/TRANSCRIPTS OF NEWEST CHAPTERS + HISTORICAL INFO

new chapters of golden kamuy are released every thursday.

however, it is possible to get spoilers before the week the newest chapter is released. they usually appear on the weekend, simply search ゴールデンカムイ (insert newest chapter number here) and the first few results should yield transcripts as well as a few images of the newest chapter before it is formally released on thursday the week after.

for example, if i wanted to find spoilers for chapter 118:

netabare (ネタバレ) means spoiler, so any sites with URLs or titles containing that word should yield the good stuff.

mangakansou is the quickest and most reliable place to find a full transcript of the newest chapter before it is released, but it doesn’t show up on google chrome for me :S other browsers should be okay though

this site discusses the newest chapters, but what i like most is that it expounds on historical/cultural references in each chapter. here’s a tag comparing real life figures and golden kamuy characters they may have inspired, very interesting stuff. it updates every thursday.

DECIPHERING GOOGLE TRANSLATE

if you cannot read japanese, it is possible to glean some information about the newest chapter through google translating summary and transcript posts (don’t do bing, it sucks)

if google translate turns up very strange looking stuff for you, please note that:

杉元 - sugimoto, will often show up as “cedar” when google translated to english

白石 - shiraishi, also shows up as shiroishi in google translate

鶴見中尉 - first lieutenant tsurumi, may also show up as “crane”

尾形 - ogata, may also show up as “tail”

二瓶 - nihei, this almost always shows up as “two bottle” in google translate

犬童 - inudou (the warden of abashiri), almost always shows up as “dog,” “dogs,” or (lol) “doggy”

鯉登少尉 - second lieutenant koito, shows up often as “carp” or koppo

姉畑 - anehata (the bearfucker convict), shows up as “sister’s field”

フチ - huci, shows up as “border” or buddha

if google translate turns up things like “inkaramatsu” “ranke” “ripa” etc it should be easy enough to figure out what they’re referring to (inkarmat, kiroranke, asirpa)

NAMES OF MAJOR CHARACTERS THAT HAVEN’T APPEARED IN THE ENGLISH TRANSLATIONS YET (!!!!!SPOILERS!!!!!) + misc

NOTE: take this section with a grain of salt since my katakana reading is not the best nor do i know the rules of transliterating ainu names into english so there are very likely mistakes here

sakamoto keiichiro - the clyde in the bonnie and clyde duo

gin - bonnie

anehata shiton - professor bearfucker

kiraushi - tentative spelling LOL, ainu guy with short hair, deepset eyes and crow’s feet, recognized tanigaki’s murata shotgun because he worked with nihei previously

kantaro - has appeared already, the thug with the ponytail who helped hijikata in barato

kadokura - inudou’s henchman, chief abashiri guard… i think??

uirk, wilk??? - also tentative spellings, asirpa’s father as inkarmat knew him, son of an exiled polish man and sakhalin ainu woman

here’s a post speculating on the characters’ heights. no hard numbers have been confirmed in series (although hijikata’s approximate real life height is known). it’s grounded and interesting

KOREAN

it is possible to internet search golden kamuy-related material in korean using 골든 카무이

places to read korean translations:

this site updates quickly, usually a few days after the japanese chapter is initially released. it is also cleaned up more than the scans posted to japanese sites and almost always up to date.

CHINESE

it is possible to search for golden kamuy-related material in chinese using 黄金神威

places to read chinese translations:
