I’m just Aware™ of some more groups that actually took an MBTI test. As well as being more familiar with some groups I wasn’t with before in a capacity that I might try typing them. So. Might post a few things since I’m bored in lockdown. (sorta maybe idk)

An Update of sorts

Hi everyone.

Thank you for supporting this blog throughout its time and in particular of course back when it was active. My reasons for not having posted in over a year are not simple, and I won’t go into them all but I still want to address some things.

I’ve really enjoyed creating this blog as I continued to learn and helped others learn about MBTI. Learning about MBTI has been a hobby of mine for many years, and this blog really challenged me to learn even more and to consider how MBTI can apply to a lot of different circumstances and people. I started this blog as a hobby, and as it gained traction I found myself trying to figure out types for idols and groups that I really didn’t know much about. On the one hand, this lead me to discover some really great artists, and on the other hand this often made it really hard to accurately type people. As I’ve always tried to reiterate, I’m not an expert at this, and most of my typings are educated guesses, based on the behaviour of these artists in their public lives, with almost no knowledge of their private lives and behaviour.

These days, I’m a graduate student. I’m both teaching a university course along with writing my own thesis project (not psychology related—again, I’m not an expert lol). That makes me not only ridiculously busy, but also quite stressed. Any down time I have, for my own mental health I devote it to activities that relax me and help me escape. Though I never stopped enjoying writing for this blog, over time it stopped being a relaxing hobby and more of a project. A project that required more time and effort than you might think for me to feel like I was doing it justice. Even revisiting/answering questions about older typings required me to basically re-research the idols again to remember why I typed them as such because my organizational skills are at a -3 out 10 these days. When I stopped having the time to dedicate to this blog, instead of choosing to do it half-heartedly, I stopped all together. If and when I do get back to working on this blog, it will be when I am able to give it the attention it needs to be done right and as accurately as I can reasonably make it.

So, this is more than a bit late and probably unnecessary to even say, but don’t expect me to post any group typings in the foreseeable future. I won’t be closing this blog; who knows, I might take it back up once I’m done being a perpetual university student. But until then, I ask that you don’t send me any more requests for typings. I just plain don’t have time to do the list I’ve already gathered, let alone adding more on to it. Ideally, I’d love to complete my individual info pages about each type, but if and when that will happen, I’m not sure. I’ve hated the thought of closing the ask box, but as you can tell I haven’t answered many messages in a long time. At this point, I’d still like to keep it open at least for a little while longer, but I make no promises about anything.

Thank you again for all your support. I hope you’re all doing well. And if any of you are going to the SHINee concert in Toronto next month, I’ll be there too. ;D Somewhere. In the crowd. Giving you a spiritual high five.

What exactly is the "Adorable Maknae Syndrome"? I've tried searching your blog, but I couldn't find it. :)

If I remember correctly it was just a term I made up to vent my frustration at typing maknaes, because there is often this tendency for them to not talk a lot during interviews, and mostly because of the social expectation of them to act like the classic sweet/innocent/childlike maknae regardless of what type the person actually is. It just makes typing certain group maknaes especially difficult, especially ones from rookie groups

Hi, confused INFJ here. The reason I'm confused, and I'm hoping you can help, is that I have a really big crush on a guy but I'm trying to figure out what his type is. I'm certain that he is an E*TP - although can't figure out if he is N or S. He's very funny, he actually won class clown out of the whole year. He's incredibly charming and he knows exactly what to say to get himself out of trouble. He's witty and has quick comebacks as well as being very perseptive and observant. He kinda walks--

around looking lost in his head though. He’s immature but still young (17) and at school he gets in trouble for late attendance, forgetting homework and talking back to the teacher. Yet most teachers love him and he gets away with a lot. He’s confident and he’s great at sports. He loves it actually and recieved a sports scholarship. He’s opinionated and smart though he finds education etc. boring. He wants to be a policeman and he can have a streak that isn’t necessarily mean but sort of close—to it. Though I know for sure that he’s not a horrible person or anything. But, with the wrong people, he can make fun of others - not bullying but just be a little judgemental. I’m attracted to him but not sure if it’s simply because he is the polar opposite and naturally, INFJ and ESTP are known to have a pretty strong mutual attraction (opposites attract etc.), or if it’s because he’s ENTP (who’s one of my natural partners). I don’t know him well enough to deduce whether or not he’s S or N—so I’m hoping I’ve given enough info that you could possibly help as an outsider with an unbias view? Sorry if there’s not enough info. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this :) xx

You’re right, he definitely could be either N or S by the sounds of it. My best guess would be ESTP due to his love of sports, as well as his interest in becoming a police officer. It’s not that an ENTP can’t be great or interested in sports, but it is a trait that makes him a lot more likely to be an ESTP. Strong Ti being used by an extravert can make both of these types a bit of a smart aleck. ;)

Heya!  I recently made the mistake of getting too deeply into Topp Dogg.  I went back to your submitted typing for them and just want to raise a few disagreements, with reasoning, and add extra commentary.  You’re welcome to display this, and obviously I’d love to see your own commentary!  Thanks for your blog!

Jenissi: INFP   I generally agree with this typing - only hesitation is that he’s really religious and INFPs are not associated with being that religious?  I don’t think that’s a big enough reason to retype him though. He can recite fan names directly from memory – that shows the use of Si, which is the tertiary function for INFPs, which I would have thought would develop later on but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sangdo: ISFP Sangdo is a lovely, really sweet, really smiley guy and tbh that’s all I can tell from him at the moment. ISFP would probably fit well.

P-Goon: INFJ  I am about 500% sure that P-Goon is an ISTJ.  The other members regard him as the “cold” one who doesn’t show much love.  However he clearly is a fatherly figure.  He has strict discipline, likes order and routine, and does love the other members a lot but in a very quiet way with a lack of skinship.  I barely see any N in him at all.  I would say he’s the person I’m most sure of. 

B-Joo: ESTP Agreed.  At some points seems like an ESFP but his relationships with other members shows he isn’t as comfortable as others with expressing direct love (e.g. Hansol always hugs him first, and sometimes BJoo pushes HS away…B-Joo rarely initiates skinship)

Xero: ENTJ  Maybe ENTJ or possibly INTJ.  He’s one of the least clear to me though. He’s an optimist and “focuses on one thing at a time” which doesn’t seem very N-type?

Hansol: ESFP  Definitely agree. Full of Se, and just fits the overall ESFP character. I think he’s also aware of how to use shipping to gain attention, which would be the kind of gentle manipulation that ESFPs would be fine with, I would have thought?

Gohn: ENFJ  Likewise agree, he’s definitely an extrovert, and a caring father-figure again, warm without seeming “needy” of affection, and also a creative thinker

Seogoong: ESTJ ?  I’m tempted to say ESFJ.  He seems quite caring?  Definitely SJ.  

Kidoh: INFP ?  I feel like Kidoh is too decisive and active to be an INFP.  Not that you can’t be decisive and non-passive to be an INFP but I feel that these elements of his personality are way too dominant to fall neatly into an INFP category.  He sets out to do something and he gets it done, or adapts his circumstances until he’s able to finish it.  He seems a bit mad and possibly dreamy in person but he’s got this really ordered brain behind there and understanding of industry.  I think he probably does use Ne though.  I’m not even convinced he’s an introvert to be honest, but I also wouldn’t immediately put him as ENFP so he’s one for further thought.

Hojoon: ISFJ  Hojoon doesn’t spend much time talking in their interviews and so on; definitely an introvert and ISFJ would fit.  Definitely uses sensing function and sensory memory (Si) as displayed in his birthday present hunt.

Yano: ENTP 100% agree; classic ENTP almost.  He’s relatively blunt, and people have described him as a “psycho”. He can be surprising. Definitely curious and clever, and screams Ne and Ti.

A-Tom: ISTP Likewise A-tom doesn’t spend much time talking  but he does apparently open up to fans.  I think the functions of Ti Ni Fe are actually all to be observed in his behaviour which is interesting considering he’s one of the younger members. I would have said Se as well except that he said “when he’s excited he can’t see the cameras on stage”. So his sensory function is compromised by excitement, and I’m not sure if that means he has Se as a major function or not.

Nakta: INTJ I think Nakta is more INFJ to be honest, maybe even INFP.  I know that totally changes his functional stack but he’s definitely got a high up Feeling function, but I’m not sure if he’s revealed enough of himself yet to say which one it is exactly. He’s 4D, suggesting Ne (INFP), and can seem cold at first but really has a lot of feelings!  (He’s the most attached to a plushie toy of any of the group.)

Secret was kinda tough for me because the four of them are really adamant about maintaining their cute image on just about every show they go on. So, with that in mind, I hope my typings make sense to you :)

Hyosung: ESTP

Hyosung is the only thinking type I’m pretty sure of, since she doesn’t care much for social standards when it comes to communication (underdeveloped Fe) and has a lot of fun drawing attention to herself and making people laugh. Although, the one thing she doesn’t like to laugh about is physical appearances (Se), especially her own (she’s really gorgeous though imo). She expresses her emotions more through actions than words, which is why she’s so good with reactions and judges things based on what she sees or directly experiences (Se-dom). She’s definitely extroverted to me, since she likes to meet and be around new people to keep her energy up.

Sunhwa: ESFP

Sunhwa is definitely extroverted from what I’ve seen of her. She has no problem handling attention, and comes off as Se-dom with her strong responses to material comments, specific evidence she cites to justify her opinions, and the fact taht she all too often falls into the role of group spokesperson. The combination of her sensing and feeling functions manifests itself primarily in her fashion sense and acknowledgement of general trends and social customs. Her Fi is expressed more when she’s asked about her opinions on other people, which she usually relates to their relationship with herself.

Jieun: ISFJ

I’ve been doubting myself with Jieun’s type for a while. Would DSP really try to put a SJ in a group full of SPs? Well let’s pretend for a moment that they would. Jieun is definitely an introvert. She doesn’t actively participate or assert herself, although she is a bit of a control-freak, only as much as her Si is challenged. She’s so detail-oriented that if someone so much as squeezes toothpaste differently than she does, she tries to make said person conform to the way she does. As such, she takes comfort in knowing that she holds some degree of leverage over others to maintain her dignity. At the same time, she uses this superiority to take care of the people she cares about and is very considerate of their emotions (Fe). Still, she has moments that make me start to entertain the idea that she could be an ISTJ, although Im still leaning more towards ISFJ.

Zinger/Hana: ISTP

Just as I could be persuaded to type Jieun as a thinking type, I could be persuaded to type Zinger (or I suppose she’s Hana now) as a feeling type. She can adapt to those around her and express her feeling towards others, but when she directly interacts with someone towards whom she has strong emotions., she starts to flounder a little bit and can’t control her feelings the way an Fi-dom would normally be able to. I am sure that she’s an introvert though, since she willingly yields to the extroverts around her and allows them to dominate the conversation while she remains in the background, actively observing with her Se-aux. Her Se also comes out in her sensitivity to and fascination with physical sensations.

Hi fellow infp~♡ I am sorry but I think Seohyun is not an infp like us. She seems so entj to me especially I've been stanning her since '10. I was so sure with xntj since Tae has been saying that she lived under Seohyun's stare. I want you to elaborate more on her. Thank you ♡ love this blog a lot! ☆

Seohyun was a little difficult since she is a bit timid, but her reserved nature and timidity continues to make me think IxFP. I’ve seen her quoted as saying “a person with a good heart is the real winner”. (This floats around her profile/fact pages, though I always find it difficult to find primary sources for stuff like that). I also can’t find anything about Seohyun and her stares or what the other members have said about something like that. I would be interested to learn the context if you could find me links/pages? I wouldn’t completely rule out INTJ (she’s definitely not ENTJ), but I find it hard to see her as someone with strong Te over being a feeling type.

SPICA

SPICA is a really balanced group in retrospect… especially considering how easy it is to have a really psychologically polarized group of 5. Well, I should probably get on with the important information now >.<

Park Juhyun: ESFJ

For a while I was completely convinced that Juhyun was a perceiving type and now I’m completely convinced that I was wrong. She’s really open, trusting, and loyal to her members and very passionate about her beliefs when she gets the chance to express them (Fe-dom). Juhyun is also the only Judging type in SPICA (to the best of my knowledge at least) and I think it’s pretty easy to tell considering how active and compassionate she is. She’s also very aware of her appearances and basic physical needs (Si) and she’s very attuned to her members’ little idiosyncrasies and what those could indicate about their moods, which makes her even more considerate of their individual emotional states.

Kim Boa: ESTP

Have you seen this girl? Have you seen the way she exudes those Se vibes? She is very engaged in all of her group’s interviews and comfortable drawing attention to herself even when she does so to distract from others (SP temperament poster child). She improvises original and distinctive ways to catch attention, even when the group is just saying hello. She’s also very aware of how she looks (more Se) and insecure of what others might think about that, hence her aversion to more feminine performances and her need for constant reassurance of her good impressions on others (tertiary Fe). She’s also very humble and aware of her limts and potential for personal growth, in a more logical sense than Juhyun (for example) is.

Park Narae: ISFP

Alright, Narae took some thinking, I’ll admit (ok maybe a bit more than some) and I could still be easily persuaded to type her as INFP. Still, I’m leaning towards Se as her auxiliary because she still seems pretty spatially aware of her surroundings even if she’s not directly involved in whatever’s going on. She usually doesn’t involve herself in the happenings around her, waiting for others to invite her to participate (introverted). She’s very aware of social expectations and her individual place in following them (Fi). But, when she gets the chance she is more than willing to bring out other people’s emotions, probably to validate her own and substantiate their honesty. Generally, she’s a very energetic, cute, cautious person with a very direct passion and regulated expression.

Yang Jiwon: ISTP

Jiwon, in my opinion, has a pretty prevalent Se function for an introvert, but that may be because she’s not really comfortable expressing herself any other way. At first her introversion/extroversion dichotomy was kinda shaky for me but usually when she speaks on shows for longer stretches of time, it’s off a script and it’s usually when she’s describing something (utilizing more Se). I think she’s a T type mostly because her opinions are usually expressed based on facts and observations. For a while I was really tempted to type her as ISTJ, but I don’t think she’s quite assertive enough to be an SJ.

Kim Bohyung: INTP

Typing Bohyung was interesting to me for a few little reasons. First of all, she’s the only intuition type in the group, which I think makes sense considering how unified the rest of the group is, priority-wise. Secondly, Bohyun being and INTP and Juhyun being an ESFJ would mean they’re psychological opposites, which is certainly rare (especially within such  small group) also rather plausible, looking at the way the two interact. Bohyung seems rooted in reality in a very different way from Juhyun, and isn’t nearly as outspoken as Juhyun is. Bohyung is so introverted it’s almost difficult to get past that level of her personality. She has admitted that her view on the group’s success is rather different from those of the other members, which demonstrates her Ne function and her ability to see her place in the grand scheme of Korean entertainment. The way she expresses her views, only when she is invited to do so, really brings out her Ti through consise, almost blatant honesty and analysis. She’s very willing to step back and evaluate her limits and accomplishments as objectively as she can.

imo, leo(vixx) leans way more towards isfp than istj, in comparison to what the previous anon said. just look at his cognitive functions. Fi is clearly his most dominant function out of all (extremely introverted feeling process, also has difficulty expressing himself in words/expressing his true thoughts out loud and opts towards actions to express, he is very shy and reserved. dislikes conflict). Sensing is extroverted, he operates in the moment. Introverted intuition - he has strong insight.

(part 2) Te - his thinking is extroverted. he is organized, efficient and is logical, and bases his logic depending on outer circumstances. dtill uses Fi primarily for decisions and uses the “follow your heart” approach. he dislikes pressure and does thing of his own accord, and based on his inner feelings. he’s honestly one of the most prominent, most obvious isfps i’ve seen in kpop.

I think there’s decent arguments for both of these types for Leo. For the reasons you outlined, I do lean towards ISFP, as well as because of  his complete shift in demeanour whenever he’s interacting with small children and animals. That is his Fi showing through; his walls come right down and he seems to forget everything else around him. He is so introverted that it is difficult to get a strong impression of his functions beyond Fi.

EDIT: Ohhhh forgot to mention; for Fi users, particularly Fi-doms, Te is often used as a defence mechanism when they are stressed. And tbh with Leo’s level of introversion/probable social anxiety I have no doubt that as an ISFP he would use his inferior Te quite a bit in public.

I am like.... 85% sure that Leo is an ISTJ! For a couple reasons-- for one thing, he is especially family-oriented in a way that really blips on my radar, often saying that his no. 1 goal is to be a good husband and father! In addition, difficulty showing warmth but feels it in abundance, and most develop the ability to show it through sheer effort. The most I read about this type the more is SCREAMS Leo to me, tbh. Thoughts?

I think that’s a pretty good point! He definitely has that drive to be a provider and a protector. I definitely think his feeling is introverted, so I’d say ISTJ or ISFP are my top suspicions for him.

I'm pretty sure a lot of these submissions are off because there are way too many INFJ predictions. that's the rarest personality type yet people keep suggesting it...

Often for that reason I will not type someone as an INFJ unless I really think they show Ni and Fe, bonus with the back up tertiary/inferior Ti>Se. If I'm doubting the Ni, I will say ISFJ. To be fair: yes, it's reportedly the least common type. But there are lots of people on this planet and only 16 Jungian types. So although the percentage of INFJs is going to be small in total, they're not unicorns. They're quite present. That said, INFJs are often said to be the most commonly mistyped (in terms of being typed as something else and typing others as INFJs). xSTPs actually are often mistyped as xNFJs because of the similar functions. Focusing on the letters rather than the functions can do it, too. But hey, typing's hard! Literally almost everything on this blog is unverified, somewhat educated guesses.

Hi :D I’ve been a 2AM fan for a few years and noticed that you have them in your to-do list. I’m still a bit unsure about some so discussion about these would be awesome. Thanks so much for running this blog, it’s so handy and fun to read haha.

CHANGMIN: INFP

Changmin’s not a person who tends to talk much unless someone asks him too, partly because there are bigger personas in the group like Jo Kwon and Seulong who spend a lot more time speaking but when he does speak in variety shows and interviews he’s heartfelt and searches inside of himself for an appropriate answer to something. 

JINWOON: ISFP 

Jinwoon is also fairly quiet but with whatever he’s doing it seems like he enjoys himself a lot either laughing or smiling. He’s a bit quirky and has a 4D personality. He’s avidly interested in music compared to the rest of 2AM and plays a few instruments. 

JO KWON: ESFP

Jo Kwon is easily an extrovert, he can put on a show and express himself so readily and have heaps of fun doing it. He’s ambitious (he worked hard to get his solo album), responsible, and is described by the rest of the group as a natural leader/someone who will take charge. 

SEULONG: ISTP 

Seulong is confident but easily laughs at himself. He’s always up for doing something silly ((lbr Wild Bunny’s Abracadabra episodes)) and will go along with anything as long as he’s enjoying himself. When he speaks he seems very professional and carefully reasons any answer he gives to a question.

Hello ^_^ I agree with you for the most part on your typing of B1A4, but I do propose a slight change:

JINYOUNG

ENTJ. Hmm… I can’t say I see him as an ESTJ. I think that, despite being a messy person, he’s a J… but I don’t see the Si in him at all. I see Ni (which would also kinda explain his messiness a bit). He sees the meaning in things, and enjoys making things be not what they appear… which is seen in his music, in songs like 'Baby I'm Sorry''Baby Goodnight' and 'What's Happening'. I can remember reading an interview about it where he said something along the lines of wanting the meaning of the song to be different to how it sounds so you have to really listen to the lyrics to get the meaning. So that they’re not just pop songs, but actually address real issues. This screams Ni to me; Si is way too straightforward. If it’s a sad song, it will sound sad. Si doesn’t hide sad meanings in happy songs because… why? Anyway, it was a while ago, so I can’t remember where I read it, otherwise I’d link it >.< I’ve also noticed he’s not afraid to step outside the rules, which isn’t very ESTJ of him at all. He’s also described as being rather spacey, especially when it comes to composition and music. As for his Te, well, I would say that’s very clear. One thing that sticks out in all those interviews is his hardworking nature, and the way he sets goals for the group and drives them to reach them efficiently. He also does what is necessary to keep his members on track, even if it means getting angry and bossy-which is more Te, as Fe would consider feelings first, goals second. I also remember reading somewhere (forgot the link again, sorry >.<) that he thought being a leader wasn’t too hard, and that people naturally rely on him—which would say some sort of NJ or EJ or TJ personality. Next: now, I have trouble deciding whether he’s extroverted or introverted, but I say E because, like you said, he does care about people a lot and seems to rely on them, in a kind of independent-not-so-independent-Te-dom way… if that makes sense.

Hm, one thing I should mention is that ambitiousness all ENTJs seem to posses. I think Jinyoung definitely has it, though it’s harder to see. It’s not so much that he’s ambitious in terms of people; he’s already the leader, after all. But the fact that, unlike many other k-pop groups, he has completely taken over composition and the producing of their albums really speaks to me. It’s clear that it’s been a goal from the very beginning (like, all of his profiles say that) and he’s extremely driven in working toward that goal.

Another note is that he always says that he’s able to relate most to Gongchan, which I think is because they’re the only two Js in the group :)

As for this one… I’m really not sure:

ESFP?? ENFP?? He’s very independent, social, spontaneous, warm-hearted, energetic… I really want to say ENFP because I get really strong ENFP vibes from him. He seems to be not just spontaneous in his actions, but also in his thoughts, like Sandeul is. In fact I’ve always felt like he had the same kind of personality as Sandeul, even before discovering MBTI… but I can’t seem to find any evidence. I guess logically he must be an ESFP then? But… it… still… doesn’t… seem… right… to… me…

Nonetheless, his Fi is very apparent, I think, in his smile. It might sound cheesy, but seriously, listen: he’s always so boisterous and outgoing, but then when it comes time to show emotion, he gets this shy look. Like, when he smiles, it’s not an open, inviting thing, but rather something that comes from within… a shy kind of smile. An Fi smile. If that makes sense. Also, he says that when he writes his lyrics, he writes what he feels. Which is very Fi.

The rest of them I agree 100% with (that I will also post because I can’t leave any of them out because I love them so much T^T) :

INFP. I agree. I’m an INFP and I’ve always been able to pick us out of the crowd, so to speak, haha. He’s sensitive and emotional and kind and sincere and dependable… He clearly values having these traits, which says Fi. I don’t know how else to describe his Ne other than having ‘vibes.’ I guess it’s that his Fi is so strong, and yet I see absolutely no Se from him… so therefore he must have Ne. He must be an INFP. It fits him, in any case.

GONGCHAN

ISFJ. Yes. He’s been called responsible, organized, caring, serious, gentle, and cute many times, and he describes himself as being warm and sensitive… definitely an extroverted feeler (a.k.a xxFJ). It’s also obvious he’s introverted overall. So it’s out of INFJ and ISFJ… but I feel like he has more Si than Ni—as in, he doesn’t seem to over-analyse things as much as Ni would.

Thanks for the submission! I remember having a tough time trying to type Jinyoung for some reason. I can’t say I have any strong reason to disagree with him being ENTJ, in fact I think you picked out his Ni quite nicely.

Barooooooooo, he’s one of those ExFPs where I had to watch for a long only to still have not a great idea of whether he was a sensor or an intuitive. I get the sense that he has more of a physicality to him than Sandeul, which is why I typed him as ESFP, but I would hardly be surprised if he turns out to be an ENFP.

As an INFP myself I also felt the same way about CNU! Perhaps even moreso than other idols I’ve typed as INFP. It was extraordinarily easy for me to recognize his Fi-Ne, I just watched him interacting for a few minutes and I just:
