Redid the world map for my Pathfinder setting. This thing is huge, like 7016x9920px.
The party in my upcoming campaign has a little magic slate that lets them look at the map in detail so I wanted to get it looking real pretty and also full of information for that. More detail:

yesterday I went to a little meeting at my local queer community center and I was admiring their bookshelves and mentioned that I work at the public library and someone said "well I bet they don't have any [LGBTQ+ books] at our library" and I was like um. yes we do. we have tons of them. half of our employees are queer leftists so they said "oh well I bet they don't in [nearby rural county]" and I was like uh once again yes they absolutely do. gay people live and work there as well
so here's a quick reminder that if you don't think your local library has enough queer centered materials you should actually check before assuming, and if you're not satisfied with their collection you should submit a request for more such books. I don't know what the political landscape of libraries looks like outside the us rn, but within the us no matter where you are, I promise you there are employees at your library fighting for inclusion and intellectual freedom and they can't win without vocal public support
#one of the saddest things about being a public librarian is how much we care about supporting queer patrons who never actually visit#seriously we’re all queer leftists and want to buy as many queer leftist books as we can#and we do everything we can to keep those books in our collections#but if nobody comes and checks them out it’s hard for us to justify keeping them#I don’t know where the idea that public librarians are stuffy and conservative comes from but it’s extremely untrue#please I’m begging you go to your public library we want to see you so badly

Somehow I expected that getting my autism testing results would just be an insignificant technicality in this process of unmasking and learning my needs but it actually deeply affected me. The woman who did the testing and went over the results with me was so kind and patient and compassionate, she explained to me gently what it means to have level 2 support needs and the types of accommodation that are available to me with that specific level of support needs.
Most importantly she saw me and she validated my struggles more than just about anyone ever has. I had tears in my eyes when she said, “I can only imagine how hard it has been to have such a deeply intelligent and analytical brain and not understand why you haven’t been able to figure out social interaction for all these years.”
The actual document with my test results is interesting—it’s 20 pages and goes into incredible detail—but that part is really just a medical document. My feelings towards that pale in comparison to the way I felt coming out of my appointment where we reviewed those results. I’m nervous about what the future will bring now that this is in my file, but regardless I feel seen, understood, and supported in ways I never before have.

Autistic Person: (asks whatever questions they can think of from a prepared list and the conversation ends up being awkward and forced)
Autistic Person: (infodumps about their special interest and gets labeled as annoying)
Autistic Person: (comments on something they observe and gets labeled as judgmental)
Autistic Person: (approaches random people in random places, not realizing that there are some places where people don't expect to be approached, and gets threatened)
Autistic Person: (talks to someone, misses a subtle cue that they want to be left alone, and gets labeled as disrespectful of boundaries)
Autistic Person: (tries to join someone's conversation and gets labeled as an eavesdropper)
Autistic Person: (teases someone as a joke because they've seen that that's how a lot of people interact with each other, not realizing that they don't have enough of a connection with this person to do that, and gets labeled as mean)
Autistic Person: (tries to talk to someone who's already talking to someone else and gets labeled as rude for interrupting, and waiting until they're alone to avoid interrupting isn't an option because that rarely ever happens)
Autistic Person: (approaches someone or faces in their general direction while trying to think of what to say to them, and gets labeled as a creep for hovering or staring)
Autistic Person: (talks to someone too often and gets labeled as clingy)
Autistic Person: (talks to someone, by some miracle it works and this person actually enjoys the conversation, but now they have to do it again and again and again, and they eventually run out of things to talk about or do something wrong)
Autistic Person: "I don't get it. I talked to people. I did exactly what I was told to do. And I didn't say anything sexual, anything gross, anything about death, or anything else that would be considered 'obvious'. But it didn't work. It can't be because I did something wrong, because I followed the advice exactly and so many people insisted that that's all I have to do. There must be something wrong with me. Maybe I'm just unattractive."
