chapter 1 chapter 2 ao3
Tumblr media
As you wake, you notice you’re in a similar position to the previous night. Curled up next to Wanda with your head tucked under hers, her fingers combing through her hair. Instinctively you want to curl even further into her and soak up more of her delicious scent and warmth, but you stop yourself, which causes you to freeze up and alert Wanda that you are awake.
Wanda slightly pulls back from you to look you in the eyes. Your sight is slightly blurry from just waking up but you can see a smile on her lips before she says, “Good morning, sleepyhead.”
You completely pull away from her to sit up, rubbing the sleep out of your eyes. When you look back at Wanda, she is sitting up as well and giving you a look. Not a bad one, instead one so filled with love and admiration that it made you want to shrink. Out of anyone in the world it shouldn’t be you that she gives that look. Not when she hardly knows you. Not when your stubbornness nearly killed you.
You look away from her and ask, “What time is it?”
“Oh! It’s 9:50, did you want me to call a nurse for breakfast?”
“Yeah, I’m gonna freshen up in the bathroom while you do that.”
“Wait,” Wanda says as she rushes to the other side of the room to grab a bag, “Lexi left this at the front desk this morning and a nurse brought it here. I think it’s some clothes and toiletries.”
“Thank you.”
Once you’re safely inside the bathroom, you first look at your reflection and it is shocking. There isn’t really a better way to describe your features other than radiant. Your skin is practically glowing, and the bags under your eyes that had been there for months were completely gone. You haven’t looked like this in, well, ever. The eye bags were thought to be permanent and your skin had never had as much color. You knew these past few months had made you look worse for wear, but your recovery process wasn’t even finished and you're looking better than you did before all this had happened.
This once again made your thoughts spiral. Were you really that miserable? Of course, waking up this morning had been extremely comfortable and you had to stop yourself before you did anything embarrassing but it wasn’t amazing by any means, right? It’s not like you had to force the smile off your face when you saw Wanda’s, right? You hardly knew Wanda and only met her yesterday, there is no reason that you would already have started feeling something other than distrust and hatred for her. There is no reason for your face to heat up or for your stomach to flip when she smiled at you.
Before these thoughts of yours develop further, you splash your face with some water, get into something other than a hospital gown and brush your teeth. When you come out of the bathroom, you see Wanda sitting down on the bed texting someone on her phone with one hand and a cup of tea in the other. When she hears you shut the door, she looks up and gives you that smile that is so damn hard not to return and says, “Hey, breakfast should be here in a few minutes, and the doctor will come in whenever you're finished eating. I also texted Lexi that you're awake and she’s planning to come at around 1:30 to eat lunch with you.”
“Lexi? How did you get Lexi’s number?”
“Oh, well she gave it to me when I got here yesterday and told me to give her updates on you since you were asleep and without a phone.”
“Alright,” you say in a tone that couldn’t really be defined as an upset one but it certainly wasn’t a happy tone either. One less thing to look forward to apparently. Lexi had a tendency to go full maternal on you sometimes, so you knew this “lunch” was going to be more of lecture than anything.
You go and sit down on the bed next to Wanda and you barely stop yourself from leaning against her. A nurse comes in with a tray of food right after and sets it down on bedside desk. You’ve got scrambled eggs, sausage links, a fruit cup and a glass of orange juice. You look at Wanda and say, “I don’t need your help this time.”
She giggles and gets up to sit in the chair beside the bed, “If it means you’re feeling better than that’s fine with me.”
You look back down at your food and begin to eat while having these contradicting thoughts about this whole situation. Why is she being so nice? Is she not at all upset that your ignorance dragged her away from home to stay at a hospital to take care of a stranger? This isn’t a part of her actual job and there is no direct benefit to doing this, unless she considers having to spend all of her time with me a benefit. But how in hell would that be a benefit? You certainly haven’t been a joy to be around and your not recuperating any of the affection she’s given you, so why would she even care about a cold and unaffectionate nobody like you?
You are snapped out of these thoughts and look at Wanda when she asks, “Are you all done?”
Looking back down at your tray, you find all of your food has been eaten and your glass empty, “Uh, yeah I am.”
Wanda smiles at you again and takes the tray and heads out of the room. She’s comes back in and just as she sits back down in the chair a nurse comes in to do a check-up. Checking all your vitals, replacing your IV and asking your pain on a scale of 1-10. Once she is done she lets you both know that the doctor will be there shortly and just a few minutes later the doctor comes in, “Good morning Ms. L/N! How are you feeling today?”
“Fine.”
“Well, you are certainly looking a lot better. Are you still having any pain? Any prickling, throbbing or aches?”
“Nope,” you say quickly. Technically, you were lying. The pain you were feeling didn’t fall under any of those categories, but you were having cramps and you could feel a slight buzz in your head. You knew for a fact that this wasn’t from the touch deprivation, this was because you didn’t take your suppressants. While yes, you know they are bad for you and could cause a lot of problems for you down the line, they were necessary. Once you started feeling the effects of touch deprivation, it had become impossible for you to drop.
Dropping hasn’t been something you hated, but at times it was a hassle. Sure, it felt good to drop since it was basically just getting to lay in the warm arms of an alpha whilst being high as fuck.
You had gone to Brooke just for a routine dropping session and when you couldn’t drop, you just faked it. You then tried a clinic and couldn’t drop there either, you’d never had problems dropping before but you’d believed it was because you knew who your soulmates were and your subconscious didn’t want you dropping for anyone else. So you went and took suppressants. You’d been telling Brooke and Lexi that you had been just going to clinics like you did for your heats. The longest an omega was supposed to go without a drop was a month, but it was suggested at least once a week. You hadn’t dropped in months because of the suppressants, and you wanted to keep it that way.
“This is great progress that you’re making Ms. L/N. We do have to keep you here one more night, but we can discharge you tomorrow. I’d like to go through what I need for you to do once you’ve been released, okay?”
“Okay.”
“The full recovery process is a 3 step process to get you back to normal, and once you’re discharged tomorrow you will have already completed step one. We have to do something similar as weaning someone off a certain medication, in this case we basically have to wean you off of Wanda.”
Both you and Wanda’s eyes go wide at this as the doctor continues, “Once you and Wanda get home you need to keep your distance, try to keep contact to small things like hand-holding. Try to keep scenting to a minimum. I suggest still sleeping in the same bed if possible but try not to be in direct contact with each other. Keep in contact with your pediatrician for when the two of you can start the 3rd step of the process and hopefully make a full recovery.”
While this felt like a weight had been taken off your chest for you, you already knew Wanda was most likely distraught at this news. You could tell Wanda wanted to be as close to you as possible but you were relieved to hear that once you left here, you wouldn’t have to spend every second with Wanda. Hopefully that feeling wouldn’t change.
“Do either of you have any questions for me?”
Wanda speaks up this time and says, “How long does the second step of the recovery process take?”
“It varies from patient to patient, but seeing how fast Ms. L/N is recovering, I’d estimate 5-7 days.”
Wanda seems a little relieved at this and the doctor asks again, “Do you have anymore questions?”
You and Wanda both shake your heads as the doctor turns to leave just after saying, “Let one of the nurses if you two need anything. Have a good rest of your day!”
You and Wanda are left alone together when she says, “Well, we have about 2 and half hours before Lexi is supposed to be here. Is there anything you’d like to do?”
“Um, can we watch a movie?”
“Of course we can, darling.”
You could feel a blush on your face as you turned to grab the remote as Wanda sat next to you. After a few minutes of flipping through channels you chose The Sandlot.
Wanda looks intrigued at your choice and says, “I don’t think I’ve seen this one before.”
“Really? This movie is an American classic.”
“It is?”
You nod, “I think it is anyway. I remember watching this movie at least 5 separate times in school when I was growing up.”
“You watched movies in school?” Wanda asks confused.
“Not all the time. Usually it was always right before we had a break off of school. Always watched it on a box TV on a cart with a VHS.”
Wanda hums before saying, “Me and my family would watch old American sitcoms on our VHS to learn English.”
“Which ones?”
“Lots of old black and white ones. My favorite was the Dick Van Dyke show.”
You hum, nodding when you say, “Mine was I Love Lucy.”
Wanda seems taken aback when you know another show of that time and turns to look at you, “You know I Love Lucy?”
“Yeah, my mom used to use it play it whenever it was my nap time. I had complained to her that it was putting me to sleep since it was an ‘old people show’. But every time it was nap time I’d stay up and watch the entire episode and then fall asleep.”
Wanda smiled at your memory and says, “How mischievous.”
You agree and lay back, focusing on the movie. At some point during the movie you’d ended up laying your head on Wanda’s shoulder. You knew you shouldn’t have let yourself give in so easy, but it really was just so easy to lay in Wanda’s arms, especially when they make you feel so safe and warm.
Ever the early bird, Lexi had come in about 10 minutes after the movie had finished, “Y/N!!!”
You get up from Wanda’s embrace to meet Lexi half way so she can give you an absolutely bone crushing hug. You see Brooke over her shoulder and can’t help but smile when seeing their faces. Smiling and a little breathless from the hug you say, “Hey guys, I’m glad you’re both here.”
“Awe, how have you been feeling?”
“Fine.”
“Just ‘fine’? Because I’m going to be real with you, you’ve never looked better.”
“Uh, yeah I mean I just feel normal.”
“So no pain?”
You shake your head and Lexi smiles, “Great.” She looks over to Brooke and gives her some nonverbal signal because Brooke speaks up soon after.
“Hey Wanda, could I speak to you for a sec?” Jotting her head towards the door.
Your eyes widen because you know the second they leave the room Lexi is going to tear you a new one. “That’s not necessary is it? I mean we can all just stay in here.”
You look to Wanda who is now standing by the bed and give her a pleading look which she looks back at you confused.
“Cmon, Y/N, you can stand to be away from Wanda for 10 minutes,” Lexi jokes.
“That’s not-“ you try before Wanda comes up behind you and puts her hand on your lower back. Turning your head to meet her gaze, you see that look again, that look that is filled with so much love for a person she met yesterday.
“It’s okay, I’ll be right back sweetheart,” Wanda says and quickly gives you a kiss on the cheek before leaving the room.
You feel your face heat up and your mouth goes slack jawed at what she just did. Lexi laughs at your expression of embarrassed shock.
“You’ve got it bad, don’t you?”
“Shut up.”
Lexi smiles, “Uh huh, well, you know I’d love to talk about you and Wanda but I didn’t come here to talk to you about that.” Lexi takes a deep breath and says, “What the hell were you thinking? You’ve been sick for what, months? You’ve been going to the clinic regularly too, how did this even happen?”
Your eyes widen, you really don’t have an excuse for that. If you had been going to the clinic, one of the nurses probably would’ve noticed your condition, if not it certainly wouldn’t have gotten to this point. Lexi notices your expression and pushes further, “You have been going to the clinic regularly, right?”
“I-I um-“
“Are you serious?”
“I know, I know, I just couldn’t.”
“What do you mean you couldn’t?”
“I don’t know! I tried dropping with Brooke and couldn’t. Then I went to the clinic and couldn’t drop there either, so I just stopped going.”
“For how long?”
“Whenever we found out about Wanda and Natasha.”
Lexi’s eyes go comically wide, exclaiming, “How are you even alive right now?”
You don’t answer, knowing that it would be the last thing you want to say out loud but thankfully Lexi seems to get what your hinting at, “Where the hell did you get suppressants?!”
“Would you calm down? I’m fine.”
“Fine? You’re taking illegal drugs for an issue that could’ve been solved just by going to the doctors office!”
“The whole reason I took them was so I wouldn’t be in position!”
“Well what good did that do ya?!”
You put your face in your hands and feel tears start to form, saying, “None, I still ended up in the last place I wanted to be.”
Lexi let’s out a sigh and wrap you up in a hug. You hide your face in her shoulder as she rubs your back and shushes you. After a minute she pipes up and asks, “All of that, it was to avoid meeting Wanda and Natasha, right?” You nod without speaking. “Why?”
You let out a shaky sigh, “My entire life, I’ve been afraid I would have to be dependent on someone who didn’t love me, take care of me, or even treat me with respect. It’s why I’ve hid my soul marks for so long. I didn’t want to get stuck in a situation I could not control.”
“You have been with Wanda for over 24 hours now, based on your first impression, do you really think she would hurt you?”
That makes you stop and think for a moment. No, there was no point last night or earlier this morning that you felt in danger. If anything you felt safe. Wanda had done nothing to take control over the situation, to take advantage of you or hurt you, in fact she’d done more to accommodate to you. You let out a weak, “I don’t know.”
“Neither do I, but it’s not like everyone is out to get you either, especially not your soulmates. Why don’t you just give it a chance? And who knows, you might actually like her.”
You giggle at the lighthearted comment, “Yeah, maybe.”
The both of you stay like that for a few minutes longer before Lexi pulls back and says, “Let’s grab Brooke and Wanda for lunch, okay?”
“Okay.”
Lexi gives you a tissue to dry your tears and the two of you head out the door.

A/N: okay so now this is where stuff happens lol. i crossposted this on ao3 under the name kasshole and it felt like it got really big just overnight so ill probably post there first (also im not very good at using tumblr) whoop whoop anyways on to the chapter!
chapter 1 chapter 3 ao3
Tumblr media
Your two friends rushed you to the hospital as fast as they possibly could. What the hell happened? Yeah, lately you hadn’t been feeling good, but when did it get so bad that you were passing out? Brooke carried you into the hospital doors, and a couple nurses rushed over to ask what happened.
“We don’t know! She was having trouble walking this morning, and then doubled over in pain and completely passed out.” Lexi explains, and Brooke gently sets you down on a bed that a nurse had gotten ready.
One of the nurses had paged a doctor, who made their way over to ask a few questions. “How long has she been feeling pain?”
Lexi shrugs empathetically. “We aren’t entirely sure, but she’s been missing work every now and again these past 3 month. It just never seemed this bad.”
“Alright. We are going to take her back to do a few tests and see what’s happening. One of the nurses can lead the two of you to the room she’ll be staying in,” the doctor said before taking two nurses with him further into the hospital.
After about 2 hours, a nurse came back to your room for the time being, pushed your unconscious self in your bed, and hooked up an IV and heart monitor to your body. She stated that the doctor would be coming in after he got the test results.
You looked terrible. Lexi and Brooke had seen you sick before but never to this extent. Your skin was as pale as paper with deep purple bags under your eyes. It genuinely looked like you were on death’s doorstep. Little did they know that you were.
The doctor entered the room with a solemn look. It was hard to reach a conclusion with you still being asleep, but all the tests lead to one answer. Touch Deprivation, common in omegas who have unknowingly met their soulmates or have lost their soulmates. Without proper care it will only get worse, eventually turning fatal.
“Seeing as you stated that she has been in pain for about 3 months and hasn’t gotten much physical contact in that time, we don’t have a lot of options. Do you know if she’s come into contact with her soulmate? Looking at her medical records, it doesn’t seem like she has met them yet,” the doctor explained, giving Lexi and Brooke a hopeful look. If you had met them, all they needed to do was find them and they could start the recovery process.
Lexi and Brooke felt a sense of dread overcome them. Was this because you knew who your soulmates were? Did they unknowingly help you nearly kill yourself?
“As far as I know she hasn’t met them, but she does know who they are,” Lexi says in a small voice, feeling like she is betraying your trust.
“She does? Is there a reason she is avoiding them? If they are abusive we will keep a close eye on them while they are here.”
Lexi looks down at her feet. “It’s not that. She just… she didn’t want to meet them. Her reasoning made sense at the time but now…”
The doctor frowns. “Well, do you know who her soulmate is?” —————————— You could feel yourself starting to wake, but moving felt like such a hassle. Honestly, you can’t remember the last time you weren’t woken up by an outside source; whether that be your alarm, your roommates, or like more recently; searing pain. It feels like it’s been ages since you’ve been this comfortable; covered in a warm blanket, laying on a warm pillow with deft hands lightly combing through your hair. Wait, hands?
Before you’ve completely processed that thought, you're instinctively pushing yourself and the assailant off opposite sides of the twin sized bed. You hear them let out a yelp, clearly not expecting to be thrown off, and you hit the ground hard. Sitting up, you take in your surroundings and realize you’re in a… hospital? You follow the cord of the IV in your arm to the connected bag and blaring heart monitor right next to it. You can hear your attacker get up, looking around to find you. You back up, heart racing, before they finally face you, and you see one of the last faces you were wanting to see.
Wanda Maximoff.
She looks at you with a shocked, concerned expression, saying something you don’t pay any attention to because of the fact that one of your godforsaken soulmates is right in front of you, and has been coddling you in this tiny bed for God knows how long. Right as you’re about to say something, the door to the room flies open. Three nurses and a doctor, all with frantic expressions burst into the room, taking in the scene until they see you sitting on the ground. Once they spot you their tension seems to dissipate, and the doctor takes a step towards you.
“Oh, thank goodness. It was just a false alarm,” presumably referring to the still blaring heart monitor. “Glad to see you're finally awake, Kass,” the doctor says, helping you up from the ground while a nurse went around the two of you to turn off the heart monitor.
“What happened?”
“You were brought here by your roommates yesterday morning when you passed out,” the doctor answered.
Passed out? You hardly remembered yesterday morning, it felt more like trying to remember a dream than something that actually happened. And this happened yesterday? If this happened yesterday then-
“I have work! Do they know I’m-“
“From my knowledge, your roommates have contacted your workplace and have been handling everything you might have missed.” Hearing that, you let out a relieved sigh. Lexi and Brooke are handling things for you and you couldn’t be happier. God, you had no idea what you would do if you were alone.
The doctor takes out their clipboard full of important-looking papers. “Now to get on to exactly why you're here. After you were brought here, we ran some tests while you were unconscious. From the results and the testimony from your roommates, we deduced that you are suffering from touch deprivation, which can be fatal in some cases.”
Shit. This was the last thing you expected it to be. You know for a fact you hadn’t accidentally met one of your soulmates before today and seeing as you spent so much time with Lexi and Brooke, this never seemed like a possibility. How did this happen? Was it a mental thing?
The doctor continued saying, “Seeing as the pain got so bad that you had passed out from it, along with the fact that your roommates said this had been going on for at least 3 months, without having gotten any treatment this was becoming fatal rather quickly. If we weren’t able to find one of your soulmates so fast, we wouldn’t have been able to do much for you.”
You had looked at Wanda, who was looking rather timid and was unable to make eye contact with you, not at all looking like the fierce and unforgiving alpha the media painted her to be.
This was all too much, you had nearly died and for what? For your freedom? Look at where that got you, the exact place you didn’t want to be. You put your head in your hands, trying to fight back the tears threatening to spill from your eyes. Everything was going to change now, you would have to move in with the Avengers, probably quit your job with how far the compound was from the city. You hated this, being unable to control the changes that were being thrust upon you.
The doctor must’ve been able to sense your distressed pheromones telling you, “You have been making stellar progress as you’ve been asleep, you certainly aren’t in as much pain as before, correct?” You looked back up and slowly nodded. “Fantastic, the steps to recovery are rather simple, you and Wanda will be staying here for another day or so, or until the pain is completely gone. The two of you will need to make physical contact as much as possible, whatever form that takes is up to the two of you. Also scenting is known to ease the pain as well, or marking, which is known to relieve the pain immediately.”
“Um, I think I’ll just stick to physical contact, thanks. Is there anything else?” you asked, hoping to get a second to process everything.
“Not at the moment, some nurses will come back in shortly to do a check up and bring some food. Is there anything you need from me?”
“Nope,” you quickly stated. God, how you just wanted some peace and quiet, already feeling a headache start to fester but now you questioned whether it came from your annoyance or from your recent diagnosis.
“Alright, I’ll come back later to check and see how things are going. If you need anything let one of the nurses know,” the doctor said before him and the rest of the nurses left the room, leaving just you and Wanda alone once again.
The two of you stared at each other for a long minute, seeing who would break the ice. You were giving the alpha a cold stare, clearly making her uncomfortable seeing as she was giving you the same timid look whilst anxiously shifting her feet. You quickly got bored of the intimidation, turning around in the bed to lay down facing away from her. You hear her move but don’t realize how close she is until you can feel the bed dip from her taking a seat right next to you.
You freeze up, stopping yourself from wanting to move closer since the painful tingling was starting to come back and she was the only thing that would relieve the pain.
Wanda takes a deep breath before softly saying, “I’m sorry this is happening to you.”
Sorry? Why is she sorry? You both know she played no part in this happening to you. She doesn’t even know you, so why the hell should she care?
“Yeah,” you state coldly. You do not want to talk to her, you don’t even want to think about her. There were so many thoughts swirling through your head right now. Thoughts about why Wanda is here. Why did she come and help you? What’s in it for her? Thoughts that just keep contradicting each other. One part of you wants to get as far from Wanda as possible, while the stupid omega part of you wants her to get impossibly close because she just smells so good and having her hold you felt unbelievably nice. You had too much pride to just give in like that though, so even though it hurt you didn’t move.
She speaks again, “I’m glad you're getting better. We were all worried about you.”
“Why?” you say in the same tone as before.
“What?” Wanda asks, clearly confused.
“Why were you worried? Why do you care?” you say as you sit up to face her. You stare at her confused expression with a scowl.
“I- um, because you're my soulmate?” she says, even more confused than you. You knew she was going to say something along those lines and it did nothing but piss you off.
“So? You don’t know me! I could be a criminal! A murderer or, or, something! Why would you save someone you don’t even know?” you nearly yell at her. It pissed you off to no end. Why would she help someone let themselves get to this point? Someone who wouldn’t even take themselves to the doctor so as to not damage their pride.
Wanda’s face scrunches up in anger and comes back at you with the same amount of force, “What difference does any of that make? I would’ve helped you whether you were my soulmate or not, but it’s because you are that I was able to help you! Not only that, but it’s kind of in my biology to want to help you!”
“I don’t want your help!”
That seemed to have struck a nerve in Wanda because her face didn’t hold anymore anger, replaced with sadness as she seemed to shrink in on herself. Looking at you with confusion and grief, “Why?”
“Because I don’t know you! You might be fine with helping whoever, but I’m not fine with whoever helping me, especially not with the kind treatment I need!”
If your first statement didn’t hurt Wanda, this one certainly did. She looked down, fiddling with her hands. She looked like a kicked puppy. Maybe it was the omega side of you that was making you feel this way but, you couldn’t help feeling guilty looking at her. You could understand why she was upset to an extent, not only was it just pure instinct that made her want to care for you, but helping people was what she did for a living.
“Sorry, I just-“
“No, it’s okay. I understand,” she says as she looks up at you with a solemn smile.
Before either of you can say anything else, a nurse comes in with a tray of food. Wanda had moved to a chair near your bed so as to not be in the way of the nurse. She gives you the usual check up, making sure everything looks normal and noting the amount of pain you are in and giving you some medication to help the recovery process go a little bit faster. The nurse asks if you need anything and leaves you to your meal. It’s just a bowl of chicken noodle soup and a chocolate chip cookie, which you are glad for since you weren’t super hungry when you woke up. Although, this was a much more difficult task than it should be. You can hardly pick up a spoonful of the soup without your hand viscously shaking. Just as you're about to give up and just eat your cookie, Wanda moves to get up before sitting right back down.
You look at her with furrowed brows and ask, “What?”
She looks back up at you, “Oh-um, I was wondering if you wanted some help?”
You really don’t want to say yes, you want to be able to feed yourself without anyone's help. But you know you need to eat and that you can’t finish this soup on your own. You look back down at your bowl of soup and let out a small, “Yes.”
It’s easy to tell that she didn’t expect for you to say yes by the way she looks so pleasantly surprised. She comes over and sits on the side of the bed like before but slightly closer. You can tell she is trying to hide her smile but she is failing terribly. She grabs a bowl and leans in close, grabbing a spoonful of soup and guiding it to your mouth. You hadn’t been doted on like this since you were a child. Wanda was clearly enjoying this much more than you were, wiping the sides of your mouth with a napkin each time some soup dribbled out. While you weren’t enjoying this as much as Wanda seemed to have been, it admittedly felt nice. It was hard not to smile back at her when she looked so happy to be doing this and when you did her smile increased tenfold.
As you finished up the last of the soup you could feel yourself become drowsy but you knew you wouldn’t be able to fall asleep with the constant prickling on your skin. You watched Wanda take the bowl and clean up a little whilst you eat your cookie.
A flood of questions you did not know the answer to started coming back. Why was she cleaning up after you? What was in it for her? Why’d she look so happy when she was helping you? Why’d it feel so nice to have her help you? Could someone who felt so much enjoyment from helping you be that bad?
Would it really be that bad to let her help you?
It was so hard to find an answer to that question, feeling like the only reason your mind wants you near her is because of your genetics, not your actual feelings. You did not know Wanda Maximoff and from what the media thinks for her she does not seem like someone you’d want to be around. But if she was going to hurt you wouldn’t she have already? God. You felt like you had an angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other with your conflicting thoughts and questions about Wanda, and you couldn’t tell if the thoughts rooting for Wanda were from the angel or the devil.
Before you can start any more debate with yourself, Wanda turns back to you with a smile on her face and hands on her hips, looking proud to have helped. It took all of your willpower not to match her goofy grin. Wanda is about to say something before you let out a big yawn, closing your eyes and covering your mouth. She lets out a small giggle and you give her the stink eye.
“What’s so funny?”
“Sorry, I just- you're really cute when you yawn,” Wanda says with a giggle and smile.
That makes your face heat up a hundred degrees. As to not cause yourself any more embarrassment, you lay down in bed and face the opposite direction.
Wanda lets out a sigh before saying, “You're probably tired so you should get some rest and I’ll just stay in this chair. If you start feeling any pain again let me know.”
You can hear the chair scrape against the floor as Wanda takes a seat again. You can feel your eyes start to droop and desperately want to go to sleep but know from previous experiences that sleeping when it felt like someone was constantly pinching you all over your body was going to be a difficult task.
You were probably tossing and turning for 20 minutes before Wanda asked, “Are you okay?”
You let out a huff and start to grind your teeth. It’s not like you want to be in pain but how are you supposed to feel comfortable laying with someone you hardly know? Did you feel uncomfortable when you woke up though? She was so gentle when combing through your hair and she just smelt so-
“Kass?”
You look back at Wanda standing over you now looking at you with a soft but concerned expression. It feels as if the longer you look at her the more you want to be close to her, the more you want to be surrounded by her delicious scent. Without saying a word you turn back over and scoot further away from her, leaving enough space for her to slip into the bed behind you. When she doesn’t seem to get the hint, you look back at her and see her still standing there now looking confused with a small pout on her face. It is so hard to not smile at the cute expression she’s making, so you quickly turn back around and say, “Come on.”
Wanda then slips into the bed beside you and wraps her arms around you. You slightly maneuver yourself to get comfortable before stating, “Okay, some ground rules. No unnecessary touching and no scenting. Got it?”
“Got it. Anything else?” Wanda asks.
“Um, can you comb my hair with your fingers again? It, um, it felt nice.”
You can hear the smile in Wanda’s voice when she replies with, “Of course, sweetheart.”
Wanda’s fingers in your hair, her warmth and her scent fill your heart with such a warm sensation you can’t help but smile as you close your eyes and succumb to sleep faster than you’d ever had before.

truly, madly, deeply - 1
Pairing: Wanda Maximoff x Reader, Wanda Maximoff x Natasha Romanoff, (eventual) Natasha Romanoff x Reader, (eventual) Wanda Maximoff x Natasha Romanoff x Reader
Summary: You’d been living a good life, well as good as it could get with how full of lies it was. Why? It was the only way to get by when you were an unmated omega with an uneasy past. That's all flipped on its head when you see a matching soul mark on two certain avenger, leaving your lies to crumble right in front of your face.
A/N: ayo i’m finally posting this lmao, i read a a/b/o fic on ao3 that wasn’t all about sex (not that those are bad) and it literally took over my life for a few weeks and it wasn’t finished so i wrote my own! a main focus of this fic is reader having a condition called touch deprivation. the name describes it well and it’s described in the fic (this was also based on another a/b/o fic) anyways! i hope you enjoy, second chapter will be posted after this so if you enjoyed please let me know!
also there are two ocs that only affect the beginning of the story and will kinda become absolute
chapter 2 chapter 3 ao3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The day had started out simple enough. Wake up, eat breakfast, go to work, come home, eat dinner and sleep. A routine you’d grown accustomed to. A routine that usually involved you talking to your roommates Lexi and Brooke when you were home. You’d known Lexi since you moved to New York about 3 years ago, meeting because you both needed a roommate. With you both being omegas, it worked out perfectly. You remember the days when she would talk about how she couldn’t wait to meet her soulmate, and lucky for her, she didn’t have to wait too long as she met Brooke about a year after living together. Instead of having to move out, or have Lexi and Brooke find a new place, the three of you lived together and it worked perfectly. Rent was less expensive, and the three of you were able to help out one another. You also thought that they felt bad for you, thinking you were forever going to be alone with the lie you’d told them.
The last thing you needed in your life was someone to depend on. Especially not someone you didn’t even know. You’d spent the last years of your childhood forced to be with someone, someone who didn’t care for you like he should, and you’d be damned if you’d do that again by meeting your soulmate. You knew how it went when omegas, like yourself, met their soulmates. The second you meet your soulmate, your body immediately becomes attuned to them, knowing that it needs them. Your body puts itself through unending pain whenever you're away from them for too long without being bonded. If you were to ever meet them, it would also mean the end of the freedom you have.
How does one avoid fate though? Well you’d come to learn that most people learn about their soulmates through word of mouth. So you’d cover up your soul mark and tell people your soulmates had died. While it wasn’t the most humane thing to do, it kept you safe, kept people from asking questions. Of course you’d told Lexi and Brooke the same sob story but didn’t bother hiding your soul mark from them since you were living together and there was no point.
So when you came home to Lexi shouting at you about how you had other soulmates, you froze like a deer in headlights.
“Oh my gosh Y/N! This is so exciting! And two Avengers too? Isn’t this great!” Lexi exclaimed whilst holding your hands and jumping up and down.
“We already called Avengers Tower, they said that we can come by tomorrow to meet them,” said Brooke, coming in just behind Lexi.
You were still in the middle of processing all this when Lexi started showing you the news articles. Avengers Wanda Maximoff and Natasha Romanoff reveal that they are soulmates! What does this mean for the team? With a close up image of that stupid mark you had on your wrist. In a way this was a blessing, now you knew exactly who you needed to avoid. All you need to do now is find a way to convince Lexi and Brooke not to make you go up there.
You decided to play dumb. “I don’t think that’s the same mark, mine looks like a different shade of red.”
“What? No, you guys definitely got the same marks,” said Lexi while giving you a confused look.
“I don’t know, maybe it’s best that we don’t go up there just in case. Wouldn’t want to get my hopes up, you know?”
“Shouldn’t that be the reason you do go up there? Just in case they are in fact your soulmates,” said Brooke giving the same look as Lexi.
“Exactly! What’s the worst that could happen?”
“I’ve got stuff to do tomorrow anyways, probably wouldn’t have enough time to make it there anyways,” you say as you head to your room not wanting to get into a big argument with the two.
“What’s so important that you can’t meet your soulmates?” Lexi asks almost angrily.
“Literally anything else.”
In a much softer tone Lexi carefully asks, “What?”
“I’ve just-,” how were you supposed to explain this to them? Getting into your past would just lead to more questions. The best solution? Another lie, “I don’t want to meet them, being the soulmate of an Avenger comes with a lot of risks and it would probably be safer for me to keep my distance. Aren’t they in a pack anyways? They should be fine without me.”
Lexi and Brooke give you a shocked look, with the former deadpanning. “You can’t be serious.”
“I am! I feel completely content! I don’t need them, and since they aren’t actively looking or know that I exist, they won’t need me either.”
You can tell neither of them know what to say, Lexi is opening and closing her mouth like a fish while Brooke has a deep crease between her brows trying to decipher what you’ve just said.
“Please, can we just keep this between us?” you plead with the two of them.
They share a look of concern before looking back at you with pity. Lexi finally says, “Alright, if that’s what you really want. Are you sure you don’t at least want to meet them?”
“No, I’ll be fine living my life and they’ll be fine living theirs. No need to upend everyone’s lives over something as silly as soulmates,” you say as you start to walk towards your room.
“Soulmates aren’t-“ Lexi starts before you quickly cut her off so as to not start another argument.
“Thank you guys! Goodnight!” you say as you slam your door shut.
Universe just had to send you a curveball, but thankfully it seems you hit this one out of the park. Not only are the two people who know about your soulmates are sworn to secrecy but you know exactly who to avoid. Natasha Romanoff and Wanda Maximoff, should be easy enough to avoid since the Avengers are currently living at the new compound in upstate New York.
Now all you gotta do is stay updated on the Avengers whereabouts and continue to live your life. Since you now know who your soulmates are and that they are relatively easy to avoid seeing as the media keeps a keen eye on them, you feel very secure. Before you never knew when you would run into your soulmates, constantly living on edge.
Although, you could definitely see an appeal to being their soulmates. Two unbelievably strong women with stunning appearances wasn’t something you were complaining about. Even with that, the media was not making it easy to like them, especially Wanda. Saying things like she is a loose cannon and is not in control of her powers. While it’s a given to not believe everything you read or see on the internet, it only helped solidify your desire to stay away from them.
And with that life moved along. Everything was normal, aside from Lexi giving you petty remarks every time you asked for a favor saying things like, “if you would just meet your soulmates I bet they would be happy to do this for you” or “why don’t you ask your soulmates?” It grated on your nerves but it was better to just live with it than let get into an argument with Lexi, especially when she knew who your soulmates were. You didn’t know if she would go that far, but you weren’t taking any chances.
As time went on though, you started to be in immense pain. First it was just tingles all over your body, kind of like your body was a big bruise. The pain would increase when you made jerky movements. It would gradually get worse, feeling almost like you were burning all over. You were calling off of work more and more because some days it hurt too much to even move. Lexi and Brooke noticed and offered to take you to the doctor, but you refused. Whatever this was would pass, it just needed time.
Today however, you felt like you were going to die. Your boss had already said you were calling off far too much and that if you missed one more day you would be put on suspension. So despite it feeling like you should be in a full body cast, you got up and got ready for work. The clothes felt as if they were poking your skin and your feet on the floor felt like you stepped on legos the entire way down the hallway. While the hallway was only a good 6-7 feet but it took you 10 minutes to get down it. Every time you bent your leg it felt like it was bending the wrong way, like you were purposely breaking your legs every time you took a step.
Lexi and Brooke looked at you as you made your way down the hallway and could immediately tell that something was really wrong with you. Despite you having been in excruciating pain these past few months, you’d done a decent job of covering it up. Only ever letting it show when a particularly sharp pain hit you.
Lexi rushed over to you helping you walk to the kitchen asking, “are you okay? Don’t tell me you're going in to work today.”
It took you a second to answer because moving your jaw was a painful task in itself, “yes, i’m fine.”
“You sure? With the pace you were going down that hallway you won’t make it to work until next week,” Brooke stated in a smart-ass tone.
You gave Brooke a dirty look before doubling over in pain.
“Y/N we really need to take you to the doctor! This is not normal!” Lexi exclaims whilst helping you keep from falling over from the pain.
“No, I’m-“ you start before you feel another rush of pain. You had probably hit the ground at this point, with the pain in your head and abdomen felt as if you were being stabbed. You can hear Lexi telling Brooke to do something but you can’t make it out, the pain being the only thing you can focus on. You open your eyes to look up at Lexi but it’s so blurry and you just want to close your eyes again. You think you can make out Lexi saying something to you but you just can’t keep your eyes open. As you close your eyes the pain starts to dissipate as you pass out.

ok so i have two dogs. I have a 10 month old puppy named paisley (left) and an 11 year old full grown bichon named polar (right). Since polar is 11 years old and is a grump, she hates paisley. paisley on the other hand, loves polar. as you can see they are on my recliner laying next to each other. paisley takes a chance and decides that she would like to lay right next to polar. polar was fine; at first. paisley looked at polar and polar immediately started growling. as polar continued growling, paisley started wagging her tail. polar then ran away to her bed.
the moral of the story is that my dogs are the true embodiment of every sibling relationship
