Behind a pew
I remember everything from my Greek mythology course from 8th grade. The stories were amazing, the writing was enthralling and while I loved every word I didn’t feel a need to devote my life to following the words. So how is it that generation after generation has given so much power to the words written in another book. Irregardless of your religious persuasion I find it interesting that if you take any random group of people in a moderately diverse city Yiu will find largely vary religious views. Each of those people will go down fighting with the idea that their religion is “the right one” and you, most likely, should believe how they believe. Millions have died because others were figuring for “the right god” against those who believed in “the wrong god”. I grew up Roman Catholic and with that came the relentless reminders of our sins and the ideology that if you don’t believe this one way you will be damned to eternal hell. Really, is this what we want our children to have engrained into their brains? How is that any better than, what we now consider being fictitious stories, teaching our children and having them unquestionably believe in Greek mythology? For that matter what about the words of Steven King? Can any story of the bible not have more holes poked in it than one of Mr. King’s novels? I am not here to say any religion is wrong or that any person cannot their own believes. All I believe is that any written words are just that, just words to be read and interpreted by whomever takes the time to read the words. I may be strange, different and/ or off kilter but I believe in myself, in those around me and in the life. Even the most religious people have done some haneous crimes against humanity under the shroud of religion. Believe what you are going to believe but don’t take others down because they haven’t drank your magic potion.

"Health"care
For many years I have followed the healthcare industry and wondered why it is so dysfunctional. I have come to the conclusion there is one reason healthcare is such a mess and it is profit. No matter how you look at it out healthcare system (America) is the most expensive in the world because companies have done very thing in their power to make huge sums of money off is those who are sick. Insurance companies are the worse offenders of this. They have created an unattainable model that is now leading to huge deductible plans that put families in difficult financial situations. If we look back and remove profit from the scenario we would have had networks of insured peoples gathering together to pool their money in the chance that a member of the group got sick and needed care. That pool of money would have increased exponentially, been invested and remained a viable resource for generations. Sooner or later the money would have been far to great to ever spend and they would have introduced a form of profit sharing where if the total pool of money exceeded what it would take to care for every member for a set period of time the remaining money would be returned to those who invested. But no, we ended up with insurance companies who have been allowed to dictate what services we are allowed to receive, the price we must pay to receive these devises... More to come.

Back
Everyone has come in contact, at some point or another, with a boss that exhibits sociopathic tendencies with a hint of psychosis. These people are strewn about corporations all across this great country. These people are allowed to exist because they are successful and this often comes at the price of those they have slain on their way to the top. Why do they exist and why does our society feel it is okay to allow these people to thrive when they should be nothing more than a company reject? We empower those who are negatively aggressive and step aside and watch as they destroy those around us. Just like the bystander effect when a person will stand aside and watch someone get assaulted because they do not want to put themselves in harms way or risk standing out from the crowd. Same happens in corporate America when monsters are allowed to run amok with no one to put a stop to their hanous ways. It has been 17 months and I have reached the point where all of my recovery work has paid off and I am back. All the prices torn apart from the 12 months of hell have been re assembled and as with bones, the new me is stronger after being broken and healing than before.
I feel more will come from this topic but I shall digress for now... JAI

Size 11
So, as it stands there are innumerable professions that exist solely because of the our own creation. These creations I will call FMs and that does not stand for what you might think unless you are wired like me :-) I am referring to Frankenstein's Monsters. Case in point; I sit here staring at my foot. A foot that has supported me for my whole life, well not for the first 9 months of my life or during a little sitting here and there and lying around but you get the point. I began to have foot and back problems after years of smashing my foot into this terribly designed creation that would manipulate the foot's natural function and design, forcing it to do things it was not designed to do. What is this device I speak of... the shoe. A horribly design that puts our health at risk for nothing more than looking good. Shoes have no other function than enhancing our appearance. Our feet alone are designed to meet everyone if our needs without the enhancement of rubber, leather, air pockets and the like. Just go with a soft sole shoe that has a minimalist/ barefoot design. Your feet, back and body will thank me. JAI

Let them fail
I sit here waiting for a call about a loan, a loan that should have been approved weeks ago but the untouchable banks make the rules and can do with you as the please. I have no power to be frustrated with the bank, I have no control or influence over their decisions, if they screw me over I can do nothing and I still sit here waiting.
I think back to the point when the bottom fell out and the banks were all in trouble. These large banks had gotten to the point where they were supposedly to big to fail. If a company is in business they are never to big to fail. If failure is not an option why would they care about risk? They would operate as if there is no tomorrow and let it all ride.
If I go into business knowing that there is not way for me to fail I would have a completely different business model than if failure was always lurking in the background. So I say let nature take its course and if a company fails then it only provides greater opportunity for the entrepreneurs of the world to step in and make it better.
So I will continue to sit and wait for the call that determines the fate of my loan. All while knowing no matter what decision they make they have no possible negative ramifications and will pay their dividends and get their bonuses.

1000 Itches
I have been sitting on this tumbler site name for months, not knowing which direction to take it. I have 1000s of ideas streaming through my mind each day with no outlet. Some ideas are benign, some are genius, some are plain wrong and others are completely illogical. Over the next few months I am going to release JustAnotherItch and put these ideas out into the realm of Tumbler for others to share. Follow along, share, comment and let's see what happens.
