Scheduling Death
Ever just sat around wasting time because it's too soon to leave for your appointment but too late to start a new task, so you just kinda end up staring out a window or mindlessly scrolling through social media?
When I learned that my breast cancer had metastatised, a meeting was scheduled with death.
Now I can't stop waiting for my appointment.

Dramatic
I will never annoy you again
I'll never eat, laugh, cry, sing, talk, or breathe
Too much
For you
Ever
Again

When I met the Dragonlady, she was a force of kindness I was unfamiliar with. A strange social landscape of healthy acceptance and understanding.
I'm grateful for her everyday.
Thanks for adopting me you magnificent madwoman.

Poetry and Cat Videos
My poetry will likely never be eloquently read to rooms of language scholars,
Or gathered by greedy publishers as they proclaim a poet's worth,
as if it's possible to become the arbiter of value judgements.
No.
My poetry is for my fellow insomniacs.
My people of the "Other".
Our faces faintly illuminated,
by blue light streams,
in the small hours of the night.

My Brother's have not read "Little Women"
By Scarlett Curtis
We sailed to Treasure Island
Became Lord of the Flies
We saw ourselves in Holden C.
Damaged, sad and wise
We gave our time to Oliver
Our hearts to Spiderman
Followed Charlie to the factory
Took flight with Peter Pan
Your words are universal
Your characters are true
Your stories transcend gender
But women write books too

Unlikely home owners
As a child, my Dad hated noisy footsteps, so I learned to walk on my tip-toes.
I stomp around my place like own the joint. Because I do. Own it. I never thought I would own a home after the GFC (yes, some of us living relics were there).
But thanks to generational wealth, I had life insurance. So, yeah, here I am. Stomping around my house.

It's nice here, can I stay a little longer?
With you
That's where I want to be
Wrapped in your warm embrace
Soothed by your gentle soul
Heaven.

Small Talk
People love to talk
Their words, unconsidered
Arbitrary
So many fear silence
But without the quiet, one cannot hear their heart
And "It is only in the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye." *

Ancient Cat Lady
I remember being young and feeling sorry for her
Now, I am her
Your pity, however, is not needed
You see my ancient silhouette
Peaking out of windows
And suppose that I long for freedom
That I weep with loneliness
What you fail to realise is, I don't long for your piles of gold
I just want you to fuck off so I can watch birds in the eucalypts

You may see nothing wrong.
I see a country so crippled by greed that it's failing to meet the bare minimum of food, shelter, and water to the masses.
Poisoning us.
Then blaming the individual.
Who gives a flying F if Tay Tay is using her private jet as a mobile home, when oil and gas companies are spewing pollution all over the joint?

my first video edit!
Blocks
Kneeling at your feet
your pedestal,
under scrutiny,
was pyrite
Earthed
Surrounded by it
Upon high
you only saw dirt
So, I made garden walls
Protected my sanctuary
one block at a time
