I know you were human, once.
See it in flashes, a foggy dissonance of it.
Even in the flashes, I remember to heed the snarl of your beast behind it.
So I step slowly to embrace the sliver of your humanity.
I know that the second you're ready to stop pretending, you'll use this against me.
As I hug you tighter, I'm aware that you will use this as proof of my weakness, soon.
Years away you will bring up my tenderness with bared teeth, stalking closer with the promise of a fight in the swing of your hips.
I won't even fight.
I'll keep my mouth shut and my eyes to the ground.
Nothing I do will stop you.
I won't even try.
