The secret wish is to write a fanfic that someone loves so much they make fan art of it, or to create a drawing that someone creates an entire fic based off of it.

Luigi can redeem almost any villain... maybe?
He may be Mario's counterpart, but in the eyes of the bad guys he is much more than that.
I agree with that but doing so can get him into real trouble because it can easily lead to a trap, Luigi has the patience and kindness to help redeem but some villains also have the same patience, the manipulation skills and the actually clever and detailed plan to take down Luigi. This is even more dangerous if the villain is actively but secretly after Luigi alone instead of trying to use him to get to Mario, Peach or someone else.
This also depends on the type of villain. If it's a villain who's been broken down, never really had affection or positive reinforcement and so on, Luigi's genuine kindness can shock them into a pause and slowly rub off on them to the point they actually get redeemed and open up to him so he can help them heal. And it's small. normal kindness from Luigi, nothing else. He follows their boundaries, working with them to take care of them, remember the little details that they thought wouldn't be important at all yet let them start to see that Luigi actually cares and shocks them even more when he reveals that this is what's normal. They don't focus so much more on evil schemes and hatred or other negative emotions, they get used to this quiet, comfortable and peaceful life. They don't want to risk loosing it all by going back to their ways. Mission Complete.
Then we have the villains that aren't broken and are naturally assholes, worse if they actually did get affection in the past yet still chose to be evil due to genuinely liking it better. Those are the most dangerous, because those have the least amount of morals and not that many weaknesses. In fact, they can be the type that do the most damage, both physically, mentally and emotionally. Luigi becomes the perfect target for that. He is very much vulnerable in their eyes and will attract them due to this. You may think showing his resilience and actually strength and many other surprises he has will make them think twice but no, it makes things worse. They get excited and want to increase their attacks on him just to see how much more he can take, how much torture he can endure before he breaks.
If he tried to rehabilitate those villains then he'll need to be surrounded by his friends more, as it will force the villain to be even more careful and crafty to not get caught by people who actually don't trust them and their mission is to protect Luigi. However, because they are familiar with positive interactions, they can use those skills to seem none-threatening and get closer to Luigi then to his friends to calm them down and not be so wary. The plan can go in different ways after that. It can be a surprise kidnap, a more elaborate plan of isolation and manipulation so Luigi starts to depend on them, magic being used if needed to make their influence on him more solid. Another important factor that must be done, reveal nothing solid about themselves, nothing that can give his friends or even him hints of where they are from, who they really are or what they have done. They can't lie either as it will be dangerous to get caught lying, instead they reshape the truth or don't make it as clear, using false shame and guilt to cover for it and not be asked for more details, which will work immediately with Luigi due to his kind heart and relating to not wanting to be pressured into revealing the darker part of ones self.
Is it possible to redeem these villains though? Yes, but very rarely and it's often too dangerous to try.
You know what, I think I now know how to make my villain OC i talked about. I just need to decide what to base them on still.

If u want actual good ships with luigi, while also being treated as the man he is I suggest luaisy luisley and hell even walgi (waluigi/luigi crack as it is) bc u won't find it in bwigi . also bowsr always wants him dead so why would u ship that?
Because I like the ship? I like enemies to lovers? I’m allowed to have an opinion about Bowuigi. And the issue I was talking about in my post is a an issue in a lot of fandoms. It’s not just an issue with this particular fandom. Making mlm ships cisheteronormative has been a longtime problem with fandom culture in general.
Look buddy, it’s fine if you don’t like the ship, but there’s no reason why other people can’t enjoy it. There is no reason why I need to justify my opinions about a Super Mario ship to a stranger.

If you're looking for stories where Luigi is the one rescuing Bowser, may I interest you not in a fic rec, but one of my plotbunnies where Bowser is missing and Luigi has to infiltrate Bowser's army under a villain disguise to find out what happened ?
Absolutely, I need this in my life

And I absolutely agree!
I love seeing him wear dresses and enjoy doing it. I think it's sweet that in the cartoon, when he adopted a Yoshi, he referred to himself as Mama Luigi. He has feminine interests and I don't think they should be overlooked or ignored.
I do think that because he has shown those feminine traits though, despite being a very good mix of masculine and feminine attributes, he gets hyperfeminized like you mentioned as a result. People saw those more overt feminine traits in a mlm ship and found an easy way to assign the "man" and the "woman" in the ship.
I have seen some Bowuigi shippers assign him completely feminine roles and titles, with no acknowledgement of who he is outside of that. And to each their own. If they get enjoyment out of that, then they are welcome to it.
But as you've said yourself, he's not the most masculine man but he does still have those traits. I don't think overriding his masculinity completely is fair to him. Especially not to make him weak, when he hasn't ever been weak. A little cowardly? Yes. On the reluctant side when it comes to getting involved in adventures? Sure. But he is still very much Mario's brother. He holds his own quite well on adventures, and works extremely well in tandem with Mario.
Plus, just of the top of my head, Bowser himself has had a few situations in the Mario and Luigi games alone, where he sort of stumbles into a mess or a problem and has difficulty getting out of it. The whole situation of him being Rookie in Superstar Saga comes to mind.
It wouldn't be out of the question at all for Bowser to stumble into some sort of trouble and have Luigi save him. But I agree that because he's been assigned the role of "the man" in the relationship, we don't often get to see that.
23 for the ask game?
Ooo that's a really interesting one to answer!
I would say that a ship I've come around to is Bowuigi. I've played a lot of the Mario games and I've felt like a lot of the characters were pretty mean to Luigi, especially Bowser. In the Mario and Luigi series, it took Bowser FOUR GAMES to learn Luigi's name. So for a while, I was firmly against Bowser/Luigi as a ship.
After the Mario movie trailer came out, the ship blew up in popularity, which is something I never could've predicted. I saw the way people were writing and drawing for it, so I came around to the ship. Now I like it quite a lot.
Though I will say it bothers me how Luigi is often hyperfeminized or turned into a damsel in these fics. Idk, it just feels like people think it's cool or sexy to make him the "woman" because he's smaller and a regular human. I would actually love to see more fan content where Bowser is a damsel who has to be saved by Luigi. Or I would like to see more fics where there is not as much of a power imbalance between the two--or at least, if there is a power imbalance, I would like to see less of people forcing Luigi to be more "feminine."

I think Antasma and Luigi would’ve gotten along well too. Dude was just a lonely bat (At least from what I remember), why’d he have to be destroyed??
Also I just love the idea that Antasma can’t get over Bowser’s betrayal and leaving him for Peach.
If there was a chance, him and Luigi would’ve gotten along and Antasma probably would’ve wanted to spend more time with him whenever he gets the chance to.

Peach and Luigi friendship headcanon:
When Luigi first arrived in the mushroom kingdom, Princess Peach immediately pinged him as someone who was way more comfortable entering situations if he got a chance to research them first. When she found out he was an avid reader she began gifting books in order to help ease Luigi into things: encyclopedias about powerups, little hardcover travel guides about The Mushroom Kingdom and neighboring locations, etcetera.
Tumblr media
Eventually, she started giving Luigi books once a month just for the fun of it, sometimes nothing more than little adventure stories that she wanted a second opinion on, until it evolved into their own little two-person book club where they just chat over the phone about what they've been reading lately.

addendums: cult classic tv overlaps with early supernatural seasons somewhat, i am aware, just choose based on the cultural context in which you read your first fic.
for weeaboo crew i was thinking of examples like hetalia, black butler, soul eater, etc--popular anime absolutely included but the distinction is that people who were into dragon ball weren't necessarily going to anime club every week and making deviantart stamps about yaoi, but people into ouran high school host club ABSOLUTELY were.
homestuck is in its own category because homestuck changed fandom forever at a critical time which just happened to be when i was growing up in fandom. harry potter, lotr, star wars, and twilight are in their own categories because they were such multimedia juggernauts they had entire archives dedicated solely and only to their fic that spanned multiple franchise reboots (books -> movies -> extended universes). (i acknowledge star trek technically would fit under this but at the time culturally it had more overlap with other cult classic tv fandoms.)
honorable mentions that didn't make it to the list because i had to pick-and-choose with the 12 answer limit: the final fantasy franchise (axed because i am not familiar enough with the fic scene to know if it was as iconic of a gateway drug as, like, naruto or twilight or star wars fic), a general YA lit category (YA lit outside of twilight only went mainstream slightly after this time period), the MCU (i have a hate boner for the MCU), a broader "american superhero comics" category (this would be valid as an option but i don't have the space)

"There was a reason a far simpler, kinder necromancy was still allowed. Still using the body and the bones, while still allowing the spirit to pass to either the Underwhere or the Overthere. A sign of great debt or punishment, to not allow the body to rest until their sentence had been served and their debts worked off. It was still quite a bit less cruel than watching the person themselves come undone, little by little. He didn’t regret outlawing the other practice, as most had opposed it long before he’d come into power.
If only that meant Bowser could have kept the subject of his nightmares dead too. With any luck, he’d come undone on his own too, and those whispers amongst his people would be laid to rest with him."

There are two kinds of fan writers whose power is too great for you to comprehend :
Posts a new fic or chapter every two days without stopping, "sorry for the hiatus guys" it's been three hours beyond your usual updating schedule, WHERE DO YOU FIND THE TIME TO WROTE SO MUCH!!?
Disappears for 6 years in the middle of a cliffhanger, then drops out of nowhere a 20k words chapter and picks up the discussion as if no time had passed.

old unfinished comic
Ok so like way back in May I had this idea of sprouted-Luigi being similar situation to White Diamond, where he mimics Dimentio's speech and movement (also threw in some lines from WD's monologue for some extra flavor)
if you cant read my handwriting, I put the dialogue in the image description

Originally I had planned for there to be an epic fight scene between Luigi and the gang, a dramatic argument between Dimentio and Mimi + O Chunks, and a sick Super Dimentio transformation, but my inability to draw fight scenes kinda stumped that. Plus that would take forever and this already took multiple months of procrastination to make

☠️ Mario and Luigi
☠ - angry/violent headcanon (Why do y'all keep sending me this one with the Mario Bros 😂?)
Here's an important thing to know about Mario : he might be quick to fight, but he is not cruel.
In battle, he will be dangerous, because whoever is fighting him must be stopped. He will be brutal, because he can't afford to be careful. He will be ruthless, because he doesn't know when to quit.
He will make sure you don't get back up for another round.
But once his opponent is down and disarmed, he won't push it further. He's not here to kill, not even Bowser; he's here to stop a threat.
Luigi, however...
Luigi is slow to fight. Luigi is a coward. Luigi tries to avoid fighting at any cost. Luigi doesn't want to fight.
Luigi gets angry when he has to fight. Because whoever needs to be stopped couldn't be reasoned with or restrained. Or worse, Mario wasn't able to stop them, which means they hurt his brother.
And here's an important thing to know about Luigi : there's something in him, something dark, ugly, vicious. Something that usually sleeps deep, deep inside him, kept at bay by the love of his brother and friends, by Luigi's very strong moral fiber.
But if someone hurt his brother. If Luigi has to fight someone who pushed him so far...
He might not kill. But he'll enjoy his victory in ways Mario wouldn't approve. He'll twist the knife, just to remind his opponent what's waiting for them if they ever try again.
There's a reason he never bat an eye at E.Gadd's questionable ethics against ghosts.
Put a symbol (or several) and a character/characters in my ask box, and I’ll give you a headcanon.
