like why the fuck has fever always made me much more productive
when I was younger and still created comics regularly, I would always draw the most detailed art when feverish
fever makes my mind quiet and my focus sharp, and despite all expectation to the contrary some of my best work is done when my temperature is 38°C or higher
and you know fucking what?
I googled it and apparently it's very common for people with adhd and autism
and there's even a potential explanation of this phenomenon:
"For many years, the parents of children with autism have reported that behavioral symptoms diminished when the child had a fever. The fever phenomenon has been documented in at least two large-scale studies over the past 15 years, but the reasons behind it have continued to mystify scientists.
Now, a new study by researchers at Harvard Medical School and MIT sheds light on the cellular mechanisms that appear to underlie this phenomenon.
In a study of mice, published Dec. 18 in Nature, the researchers found that in some cases mimicking bacterial infection, an immune molecule called IL-17a is released and suppresses a small region of the brain’s cortex linked to social behavioral deficits in animal models." — Harvard Medical School news (2019)

if there's a trope that instantly kills suspense of disbelief for me, it's the tragic rain of sadness
i.e. when it begins to rain the moment something sad and personal happens to the character
#iuri: txt#i know it's a trope for a reason#but i can't help but roll my eyes ever time it happens#it was very impressive when i was 12 and watched pride and prejudice with keira knightley and she had that scene with mr darcy confessing#in the pouring rain#but it's very tired now that i'm a hundred years old#idk if you can tell but i came here straight after watching another one of these scenes#and i fucking hated it#thanks for coming to my ted talk
