Getting ready to travel? Here are some cute and colorful essentials!
I absolutely LOVE traveling. What’s better than traveling in style? Here are a couple of cute travel accessories to brighten up your trip!
In need of a new luggage set? Calpak recently collaborated with Oh Joy! a purveyor of everything cute and colorful merchandise and created really colorful sets of luggage!
You can buy them individually or in sets of 2 or 3! I opted for the sunset version (first photo above)
Another super important item to make the best of your trip is a neck pillow. TRUST ME ON THIS GUYS. If you sleep on a plane and you suddenly find yourself constantly leaning over towards the poor soul next to you having to deal with a puddle of drool on their shoulder then seriously. Get a neck pillow haha.
Luckily there are some really cute ones out there and I decided to grab this one from Ban.do !
With a cute and colorful design it will definitely brighten everyones mood because they know that you wont be falling over onto them.
Last but not least, for those who travel abroad, a passport cover turn turn your really basic, muted ID into something fun and colorful for everyone to see.
Obviously I have a color combo of faves from my selections but if you’re the type who loves all things black, pink, or glittery, there are options out there for you too! Don’t be afraid to personalize the things you love and show it off.
Do you boo, do you.
Have happy and safe travels everyone!

Lolita Fashion in Music
Recently I found myself going through an old folder on my computer labelled “lolita music”. I scrolled through, eyes lit up by so many sounds of the past. It put me through a kind of Lolita Music through the ages feeling. For those who are in the know and those that aren’t I present to you (a very unofficial list of) Lolita Musical Artists throughout history!
Malice Mizer (1992)/ Moi Dix Mois (2002) / Mana
For the old school ladies, Mana is a staple in the mostly original “Gothic” side of the fashion. Back in the early 2000′s, if you tried to find a sample image of lolita style, the simple black and white silhouette with crunched up Little Annie curls were all the rage in this fashion. Mana “sama” was the front of this type of look in all of the magazines and promotional wear. Their music closely inspired and entertained the wearers of Gothic Lolitas everywhere.
Psycho Le Cemu (1999)
This band is known for their styling being troped with each band member portraying popular video game and anime characters in japan. However the bands’ guitarist and dancer, Aya, was a popular readers model in Gothic and Lolita Bibles of the past. As “The Girl” of the band, Aya was always adorned in very over the top lolita-esque styling.
Moon Kana (2000)
Cover your ears for this one. No really. Moon Kana (aside from Mana) was my intro into lolita fashion. She was also another popular readers model for Gothic and Lolita Bible as well as one of the first lolita styled solo artists of the time. However she does look entirely adorable...her music is a little bit....eccentric. Nervous laughter. Why not find out for yourself?
Nana Kitade (2003)
In her video for ”Kiss or Kiss” she rocks around in her own very interesting sub style of the fashion, “punk lolita”. Baby, the Stars Shine Bright took note of this and used her as a reader model in the earlier editions of the Gothic and Lolita Bible and Kera. “However, in 2009 after her hiatus due to illness, Kitade stopped wearing Lolita clothing.” She was very popular among western lolitas when it came to early punk lolita styling!
Ali Project (1988 active / 2000′s lolita presence)
Ali Project’s aristocratic style transcends into her music. In fact their now transitional types of sounds it what attracted me to them in the first place. Her music can go from a whirlwind of harmonious strings to an intense guitar riff accompanied by electronic drum beats. (I especially love her earlier work!) It’s a lot of fun to listen to while you get ready for a meet.
Kokusoyku Sumire (2004)
This duo Yuka, and Sachi are a blast from the past right? Originally they owned a cabaret in Tokyo here Tim Burton, yes Tim Burton, would visit! It has since closed down but they were most known for their classical twist style mixed French Chanson, and Japanese songs. They are very much still active as a new youtube channel that was updated recently in August 2018!
Aural Vampire (2004)
Get your strobe lights ready for this artist. With dark and illustrative visuals, Aural Vampire is known for her infectious EDM beats and melancholic vocals. She has been seen repping gothic lolita brands in both Kera Magazine and the Gothic Lolita Bible.
Yōsei Teikoku (1997 active / 2005 lolita presence)
Yeah, this band has been AROUND. They have always been strutting in very gothic inspired clothing but it wasn’t until the early 2000′s where they started to don a more lolita style for the vocalist.
Versailles (2007)
Versailles isn’t entirely a lolita based band, however the band memeber Hizaki is known for wearing lolita, and lolita inspired outfits. His presence in the band landed him modeling opportunities for Alice and the pirates and Btssb, who they collborated with on and off with throughout the years.
Lolita Komplex (2007)
Hey now, not all of the artists here have to be Japanese. Lolita Komplex is an Austrian group formed Gothic Heavy Metal band that has a female lead vocalist who wears lolita! The bandmates periodically range their clothing from gothic to boy-style at times too.
Disacode (2007)
Super popular Kera and GLB model Akira formed this visual kei band in 2007! They seem to not be active at the moment but their music in the past has been quite good! Give them a listen if you’re really into V-kei music.
Kanon Wakeshima (2008)
If you’re a weeb like me you may have first heard of this breakout artist’s song from Vampire Knight, however her talent on the cello shouldn’t be limited to anime ending OST’s. Mana from above personally sought to work with this artist to create her first album.
Iruma Rioka (2008)
This artist blends classical, goth, and rock all in one in a very playful style. Her impressive vocal range dances around the melody in a way that really demands your attention.
Schwarz stein /Femme Fatale/ Kaya (2001-present)
I feel like there’s so much to say about Kaya’s presence in the Lolita community that they deserve a post all to themselves really. I’ll leave you with the fun fact that they were invited to Ru Pauls Drag Con recently. Yeah! Haha
Meltia Idol Project (2014)
This Idol group started off with a bang in the lolita community, as they danced in very popular Angelic Pretty pieces, they were the first of their kind, as an “all lolita” adorned group.
I hope I introduced you to some bands you listened to before, or that you will learn to love now! Please let me know what you thought of this list and if you think I missed anyone! Thank you again for reading and I hope you all enjoyed this history of lolita in the Music Industry!
Honorable Mentions:
Lolitina (Misako)
MC Melody
Kerli
Kalafina
Love Solfege
Chihaya Kosugiyama
Yukari Tamura
Lil Mama
Paramore

Everybody say LOVE
When I think of a colorful outfit I think of putting together a piece that can not only put a smile on my face but on others too! What better way to do it than with a statement shirt all about something everyone can relate to: L O V E
Now that the days are hotter here in NYC I figured I’d pair it with a light cotton skirt and light jacket for cooler weather during the night time. I mean come on, who says you can’t wear colorful clothing as a nighttime look too?
This outfit was perfectly paired with one of my now favorite purses from ASOS!
You can buy the outfit here 😊
Top// River Island Love Slogan T-Shirt
Jacket// Forever21 Yellow blazer
Skirt// ASOS Cotton Mini Skater Skirt
Purse// ASOS Color Block Quilted Cross Body Bag
Shoes// Bershka two part block heel sandals in red
Earrings// Thrifted but here’s something similar
Also when I first saw the shirt I immediately thought of the Love song from Power Puff girls! Or is that just me? Okay... 😂

Step Up Your Wig Game 💁🏼
Now repeat after me: I will never just shake and go with my wig fresh out of the bag ever again!
Adding some flair to your wig game can not only boost any outfit, but it completely changes a look and it literally only takes minutes!
(Sweet and Flirty)
Short wigs always look good on their own, but adding a braided twist to the side can help bring out a sweeter and cute vibe.
(Twisted Up-Do)
For Medium Length wigs you still have enough hair to play around with. Especially if you want it up to show off some great jewelry, or special motif on your top.
(Space Buns!)
Duh! The easiest of all wig hair styles --especially for longer strands-- involves two buns for a fun sporty ~lewk~.
Want to watch a tutorial on these looks?
Check it out here!

A little Prince Cafe fit for a Princess
Recently a friend created a meet-up inspired by the popular Japanese Artist, Kira Imai who although her personal life is unbeknownst to us, she expresses herself through the form of her whimsical art.
Most of her themes include flowing dresses donned with lace and ribbons, otherwise known as the Japanese street-style fashion “Lolita” (Which has no connections to the book of the same name)
Little Prince Tea House was the cafe of choice for a scenic group of beautifully dressed women.
For the event I decided to go with something a little more Spring appropriate but keeping a simple look to adhere to Imai’s Pastel color spectrum.
The food options at Little Prince Range from Savory to Sweet, with a favor towards desserts.
(Rose "Potted” Milk Tea)
(”Trio Combo” From Left to Right: Goma Creme Brulee, Fruit Tart, Matcha Madelines)
If you’re ever in Queens and fancy a sweet treat in a lovely atmosphere I really recommend Prince Tea House!

An Eggscellent Photo-Op!
🍳The Egg House is an egg-themed pop-up instgrammer’s paradise here in New York City! 🥚
There were six rooms with different egg-speriences that are worthy of a really nice photo op!
No you’d think that I would have an egg themed outfit on, but instead I opted for a condiment that complimented perfectly with eggs....do you think you can guess it?
It’s Ketchup! My favorite and very basic topping for any egg dish 🍅🍳
If you’re interested in a fun time taking silly egg-themed photos you have until June 27th to get there!
Outfit Rundown:
Hat// Sacred Hawk
Top// Miss Selfridge
Jumper// Monki
Purse// ASOS
Shoes// Stradivarius

The Insta-Foodies Rainbow Paradise
Flour Shop is known for its “cut-this-cake-open-and-suddenly-you-have-a-mountain-of-sprinkles-pouring-out” Rainbow Cakes, but today I want to talk about the perfect bite of their on-the-go push pops. And no, I’m not talking about ice cream!
You get your own mini-mini version of their famous rainbow cake in an accessible form of a push pop!
Each layer is dense and filled with cream cheese frosting. The bite was delicious, and the portion was perfect for the NYC gal on the go.
Oh and btw, they make UNICORN CAKES! Which you can buy in a mini version so that you can enjoy the sprinkle-explosion all by yourself ; )

Not to mention they are SIZE INCLUSIVE! Their sizes range from XXS-5XL!
Recently I was able to acquire a sample of their shop girl dress and the quality is amazing! I urge you all to at least check out the web shop. I’ve been eying the jumpsuits next. If I grab one would you want to see a review video?
They have uniquely printed shirts from indie designers too!
You can check them out here.
Happy shopping! 🌈

Trying the Two-Toned Lip Trend
I know, I know. It’s definitely no longer 2016 but I’m feeling a little nostalgic.
The two-toned lip trend has two variants to its style; there’s the complimentary color combo, and there’s a “clashing” color combination. So with this fun and flirty style of makeup I figured why not play around with what suits my style best?
For a flirty fun look I tried Colour-pop’s Frenchie on the top lip, and ChiChi on the bottom.
I found that it works best with a darker tone on top and the lighter being donned on the lower lip. This gives an illusion of your upper lip looking much more full.
A darker shade can add a cool WOW-factor to your look if you’re feeling bold.
Here I have Colour-pop’s Tulle on Top and Creeper below.
Do you think you would ever try two-toned lips, or are you not a fan of the look?
