Draft your own 4” finished diamond quilting template
It’s really easy ! This template makes 4” finished size diamonds. Why 4” finished size? I needed it for a project of mine, and couldn’t find a printable template online for this particular size. So decided to draft one instead. And since I did all this work, might as well make a blog post and tutorial out of it! 🤓
Materials required…
Being a Harry Potter die hard fan, how could I not make my own alliteration of “Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes” ?! So allow me to introduce to you the “Hogwarts House Hats” !
A pattern so deceptively simple, yet completely magical that it will make you a star in the eyes of the recipient, all in a couple of hours ! Yes, that’s all it takes – a few hours at best! So it’s the perfect Christmas gift…
I solemnly swear that I am up to no good!
Well …I tried ! 🤷🏻♀️ I packed and sent both my quilts off to The Festival of Quilts, kept myself completely free for my sister’s visit, after which I didn’t even touch any other fabric, didn’t have any WIP project that absolutely had to be finished before I board the flight …you see, every time I board a flight back home, there’s some project or the…
I love bright vibrant colours and I cannot lie! Also, not too long ago, I called the colour Pink “bah” , refusing to consider it for my quilt. Lately I’ve been working on overcoming this prejudice against Pink … but even there, I’ve used the bright dark pinks( a shade darker and it would be in maroon territory 🙄) and never any of the lighter hues. In any other colour too, I’ve never really…
An Enchanted Reverie 1st prize ribbon at IIQF 2021, Theme Quilt category
Has it been only 3 years? Somehow it feels like more … I had just made my first art quilt, Gathered Treasures … my friend Marianne came home for a quilting meet and said casually “ have you thought of entering into a quilt competition?” . Have I ?! oh god, I’ve dreamed of it ! Every time I saw a quilt that was displayed at…
Well , as troubled as these last few months have been ( the COVID 19 pandemic) , we have seen a few rainbows too… like, real actual rainbows ….sometimes even two rainbows at a time (and before you ask…. No, no one was drunk at the time!) ….and let’s not forget the fabric rainbow in the creativeclutterroom , which is the hero of this post.
This quilt is a larger generous queen size version of my
#igquiltfest2020day1 ...Jumping in a little late .....but here we go! I’m Sindhu @ the Creativeclutterroom. My first quilt was a Power Rangers appliqué quilt that I designed myself ...and felt really really proud about it too 😃 that is ....until it my 5 year old nephew , the recipient, took one look at it and said “ That’s not the Power Rangers that I play with” ! Way to show me my place Shreyas , 🤪 Not that I was disheartened by this or anything ( I mean, it would take much much more than that to even make us stop talking about quilting ...) , but it so happened that I never made another quilt for nearly 7 years after that. Then I made a Phineas and Ferb quilt for my daughter’s birthday...and after that, really, there was no turning back. #igquiltfest2020day2 ... I really enjoy making theme quilts ...switch it up and try different techniques with each one. But I guess if I had to choose, my go-to technique would be paper piecing. The most complex designs become easy and more accessible in a paint-by-numbers fashion. I love the accuracy in the piecing. And last but definitely not the least .... is there a better stress buster than ripping the paper out from your finished design? It is strangely both constructive and destructive 💖 Let’s tear it up, people! #igquiltfest2020 #quiltersofinstagram #paperpiecing https://www.instagram.com/p/B9QY3oPHVaY/?igshid=1oxo4cz5pl941

I talk more about the inspiration behind some of my favorite pages, what materials I used etc. it’s a bit rambl-y but this is probably the most personal art journal video I’ve ever made.
It's time for QuiltFest of Jacksonville again, and this year's theme was "Bobbin' on the Beach." Of course, I had to feature my boy, Bobbin, sitting on a beach. My way.
My inspiration for the beach came from the double whammy of returning from my vacation to New Hampshire for the Machine Quilters Expo (MQX), where I spent way too much money, and then doing my taxes. I pretty much figured my next vacation would have to be on the cheap. How would a cat take a cheap vacation? In the sandbox, of course.
One of the biggest challenges was trying to incorporate the box of kitty litter and give it a nautical theme. The shell print fabric was one of the three challenge fabrics we had to incorporate, so I came up with Ocean Breeze. Hindsight being what it is, I wish I'd called it Tidal Cat instead.
I used Apliquick to turn all of my applique and handstitched it. Then came the really fun part, the quilting.
I added some simple textures to give my applique more dimension, with a few bonuses, like etching Vacation State of Mind into the sand, and a little peek-a-boo mouse.
Being me, I ran out of time before I added some of the elements I wanted, but I can always add more later before I send it off to other shows.

Eggplants and dragonflies , a cursory trip of the world in hot air balloons , friends and wishes, and a more-than-healthy doze of colour made up this unique 50th birthday gift. Yes, that’s right ! My second art quilt also turned out to be a 50th birthday gift… I think I might be onto…

Now that I’ve gifted it, I can finally share the pictures... a Real Madrid quilt for a young football fan! The logo is made using reverse appliqué and paper piecing techniques.
