“The most disrespected person in America is the black woman”  – Malcolm X
They want everything about black women, but black women. Â That is our truth. These are the things we whisper in to each other in hair salons, in our secret spaces that are just our own
“They want Becky with the good hair.”  – Beyonce, Lemonade
I could write a doctoral dissertation on the imagery of black men in the form of lovers and fathers in her visual album, but I’ll leave that to the likes of my bestie Dr. Osbourne. Instead, I will simply say: Wow!
She did something black women have been taught to be fearful of doing: being us. Can you imagine success in the form of unapologetic authenticity? Corn rows, full lips, black love in black skin. Plural Yaaaaaaaaaaassss’ all around.
Beyonce made me think: “how lucky am I to be born a black woman!”
Tall women are made to feel that we take up too much space in society.  We are made to feel like we are masculine, that we are not at all dainty, thus we are less desirable than shorter women.  We are freakish, therefore, we can’t wear heels because we surely don’t want to be taller than men.  Ughhhh!  That’s disgusting.  On a runway, if you are a size 4 and 6 feet tall, that’s great.  In real life, if you are taller than 5'8", you are some sort of anomaly that is only allowed to date basketball players.  You can’t be taller than your man because he has to take care of you and protect you.  If you are taller than your man, you don’t deserve protection, take care of your damn self.  Only women who are 5'4" need men to be chivalrous.  Tall women, you are less than a real woman.  You have to wear flats in order to protect your man’s ego.  The stigma of being a tall woman doesn’t compare to the other violations that fat women or dark skinned Black women must endure but be assured that SOCIETY and it’s rigid rules of femininity, not nature, dictate that a woman who is tall should cower and shrink and feel “less than” the women who are 5'5" and who wear six inch heels to be as tall as we are.

@pjai187 is a #KING. He married a #Queen, raised two more. His #love, strength, endurance, #faith, and patience in a house full of royal women has shown but an inkling of the great and loyal Conqueror that he is. He reminds me daily of my royal lineage and what my future holds as a result; His protection of his lot has been epic; he fuels the familial engines that motivate me and my sister to triumph in God's Name alone and by his bidding he has allowed us to flourish... and more... so much more. Because of him I smile and Everyday of mine is his and they will be such until my last breath because he was responsible for my first. I love you, #Daddy and while everyday is yours, I will play along today and pretend as if it is more special than the rest (after all, you did teach me how to be a good sport). #HappyFathersDay to MY KING.
