With the tone shift Depresbian Dairies is going to take, in addition to the fact that I don’t really relate to Skirt-Wearing-Wren anymore (I’ll be 21 this year and my current look resonates more with 16 year old me) I decided to come up with some new outfits that ring truer to how I presently dress and feel. So that being said, what do we think- which outfit do you think looks best? I’m thinking maybe rotate them sometimes but mostly I’m trying to stick to just one. (Also we’re going all white with colored hair because there wasn’t enough contrast between the blues in my old design.) But yeah gimmie your thoughts please 🙏

Since I started playing dnd years ago I’ve started to enter the mentality of:

“How can I turn this failure into lore?”

And I think that says something about ttrpgs teaching you new ways of thinking

Updated design for Bella 2024 ✨

She’s come such a long way 🪴 I’m so excited, I’ve written the ending and beginning- just gotta add the stuff in the middle. Trieste’s magic system has been developed and so has a lot of the lore of the world- I can’t wait to start doing environment studies for The Mock Witch comic ☺️

And about the AI opt-out setting Tumblr will deploy tomorrow, I’ll just let you with the words of the person in charge of the heist:

Andrew Spittle, Automattic’s head of AI replied: “We will notify existing partners on a regular basis about anyone who’s opted out since the last time we provided a list. […] I believe partners will honor this based on our conversations with them to this point.”

So Tumblr will notify openAi and Midjourney that you wish your posts to not be used and it’s entirely up to them to comply or not. And as we know, we are talking about some of the less ethical companies on the internet (which honestly is kind of a feat), so that cute little setting will most than probably do nothing and less.

I adore all of cait mays designs this season and since I’m making a YouTube video on techniques for lineless digital painting I figured I’d make Fanart of my favorite bad kids- this one is of fig using a technique of blocks of color, gradients, and a few sketchy defining lines to separate features!

Not gonna lie I’m proud of myself for this one, I’m chronically ill and 2024 started off rough for my health- this is the first painting I’ve completed in the new year!

I also think the concept I came up for figs band tee was pretty cool- it’s her name with a cig and a fig beneath as a logo. I tried my best to do a flame inspired font but it may have been a bit much

Just wanted to give a small update on Depresbian Dairies:

Tldr- the theme of this comic will be changing a bit due to changes in my health.

So it’s been six months since I’ve made a DD comic, and honestly if you read the last one you can take a guess as to why. See, I started making Depresbian Dairies when my symptoms were starting to affect me so much my illness became visible- and I wanted to fight it. To find a way to see humor and light in something that’s been pretty grim.

But the truth is managing my symptoms has only gotten more difficult and especially since 2024 began and I had a 22 day flair up— I’ve been feeling anything but humorous and positive about my chronic pain.

How am I supposed to draw funny and lighthearted panels when I’m just, really angry, and upset at my situation- yknow?

So,, for a little while Depresbian Diaries is going to be a little less “finding humor in the melancholy” and be more along the lines of “yeah it sucks, and it’s okay to admit that you don’t like what’s happening, but you’re not alone”. With single panels of affirmations or the occasional vent art

What’s been the biggest struggle is the muscles and joints from my shoulders to fingertips being tired and sore. I’ve been drawing maybe 3-4 times a week as opposed to my daily sketching.

I’d be lying if I said I’m not devastated. I’m just hoping with enough time and consistency aimed at pacing my energy- I can work out a schedule that lets me draw regularly so I can meet deadlines set for myself.

2024 hasn’t been easy so I’m trying to have more of a work life balance- hopefully by working ahead of schedule I’ll be able to stop pushing myself over the edge. I’ve been recuperating since the beginning of January and being that it’s February now I feel hopeful and nervous- but I’m working at it. In the video above I talk about having chronic pain as an artist and the struggles that come with it.

I collabed on a fun art swap with my friend where we drew eachother as animal crossing villagers :3

I decided to go over some of the characters from my old wattpad stories, go over the critiques and merits of those works- and talked about what I’d do now as a more experienced writer. A lot of my old work was very cringe but cringe is growth!

I’m making a zine called The Tenth Muse where I turn Sappho’s poetry into comics- here’s her design so far!

I love queer history and poetry, and a major contributor to my awakening as a lesbian was reading poetry by Sappho, the poet Plato referred to as “The Tenth Muse.”

So I’m picking my 10 favorite poems/excerpts, and turning them into comics that everyone can read for free- to make the sharing of an important wlw figure more accessible to people who may not know about the impact she’s had.

I referenced as many artworks of Sappho as I could to get her looking just right and finally settled on hairstyle C, but I figured it’d be cool to show the runner ups. I’ll be posting updates on Reddit and YouTube as well as posting full comics on Tapas and Webtoon once they’re done! Social links can be found here!

New comic ayeeeeeee. Still tired but finally got some motivation after healing from one hell of a (double) ear infection that lasted a full week.

Been feeling real sad I haven’t had the energy to work on @depresbiandairies in a while (2 months) I just haven’t had enough spoons and I’m working on developing my first comic with a plot. I’m just tired and fatigued and trying to work on my health but I’m frustrated that I’m having more and more days where I’m too exhausted to do what I love.

Disability and chronic pain/fatigue/illness is a bitch and it’s worse when you don’t know why you feel this way. I’m just so sore and tender no matter how much/little I sleep I’m exhausted. No matter how much yoga and stretching I do I’m still so stiff that I have to crack my joints every few hours just to retain mobility (especially my elbows and shoulders those are so hard to pop). I’m just tired of this and feeling this worn down. I want to be healthy- I want to wake up in a body that actually feels rested after 8 hours of sleep (these days I’ve been needing 10-12 to even function) I’m just tired and I’m done and I want out and to get this shit over with.

Still working on figuring out what it is but I can’t visit the doctor right now because the US healthcare system is broken and everything is debt-inducing-expensive.

I’m just so tired, I want to make my comics, make my art and produce things but this fatigue makes me so goddamn slow about it. I feel like I’m going to spend my life playing catch up in order to compete with other artists in my field. I feel like I’m at a loss, things need to get better, they just have to
