Wanda had always been a bit shy around her crush, Y/N L/N.
Like her, you were a more recent addition to the team, but you joined the Avengers a little earlier. The two of you became closer and quickly developed a good friendship as a result of being able to relate to one another and share this new world of fighting crime.
You were the definition of cool: smart, confident, and kind. Wanda couldn't help but admire you.
She had absolutely no idea that you admired her just as much as she did you, leading to an unknowingly mutual pining between the two of you.
So when you invited Wanda over for a sleepover in your room, Wanda was thrilled. She couldn't wait to spend the evening hanging out with you, even if it meant enduring a few hours of horror movies (which Wanda secretly found terrifying).
As the two of you settled in for the evening, you commented, admiring Wanda's flawlessly drawn eyeliner and glossed lips, "You always look so lovely.”
Wanda felt her face blushing red at the compliment. She had spent hours earlier perfecting her makeup in hopes of impressing you that evening. She muttered, "Thanks," as her heart raced.
A few minutes later, you turned to Wanda with a grin. "Hey, do you think you could do my makeup like yours? I love the way it looks."
Wanda's heartbeat quickened. She had never done anyone else's makeup before, but she was giddy with excitement at the thought of being so close to you. "Yeah," she replied, trying to keep her voice as casual as possible.
Wanda pulled out her makeup bag as you leaned back on your pillow. She started meticulously applying foundation to your flawless complexion. She applied eyeliner, mascara, and blush while remaining silent, her hands working softly and precisely.
Wanda couldn't help but steal a glimpse, or maybe multiple glimpses, at your face while she was working. Wanda had a strong desire to touch you, run her fingers through your hair, and gush about how lovely you are,
but she didn't.
She simply concentrated on the task at hand, being extra cautious to make sure your makeup was as perfect as hers.
Finally, she leaned back, admiring her handiwork. You looked stunning—your eyes were smoky and dark, and your lips were perfectly glossy.
You sat up, gazing at yourself in the handheld mirror with a smile. "Wow, Wanda," you said, turning to look at her. "You're amazing. Thank you so much."
Wanda felt a sudden, overwhelming surge of joy wash over her body. She gave a hesitant but delighted "No problem; I'm glad you like it" in response.
As you guys settled in for the evening, Wanda couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment. She had gotten to spend time with you, whom she had been in love with for a while now, and had even gotten to do your makeup. It was a small victory, but it made her heart sing.
Wanda felt her fingers brush against yours as you huddled close to one another to watch the horror movie. You didn't move away, and Wanda's fingers briefly intertwined with yours. Wanda's heart leaped for joy despite the small gesture.
There was a chance you could possibly feel the same way she did, she reasoned. Wanda had a sense of hope as you and her watched the movie together, thinking that perhaps more could come from this special night.
Wanda couldn't concentrate on the movie anymore. Her mind was racing with thoughts of you and what the small gesture might mean.
She wanted to ask you to confirm that you both were on the same page, but she didn't want to ruin the moment.
You smiled, turning to Wanda after the film’s credits began rolling. You shivered, whispering, "That was terrifying."
Wanda laughed, feeling relieved that the film was over. "Yeah, I'm not a big fan of horror movies either."
You shifted closer to Wanda, and she felt her heart race. You tell her softly, "Thanks for doing my makeup tonight, I really, really appreciate it. I feel so pretty."
Wanda's heart swelled with happiness. "You are beautiful," she said, quietly enough that you could just barely hear her.
You're relieved you did hear Wanda, because those words were enough to push you to have the courage to say the words you were about to tell her.
Your eyes search Wanda's as you face her. "I've been meaning to tell you something."
Wanda's heartbeat quickened. Were you about to admit your feelings?
You continued, fumbling with your hands, "I love you, Wanda. I’ve loved you for the longest time.”
Wanda's mouth fell open in shock. "You... you do?"
You nodded, your eyes shining. "I know we've been friends for a while now, but I can't help the way I feel. And just being with you tonight made me realize that I had to tell you."
Wanda's heart soared. "Y/N, I feel the same way," she said, feeling tears prick at the corners of her eyes.
Your face lit up with a smile. "Really?"
Wanda nodded, feeling a sense of relief and joy wash over her. "Yes, really. I've felt this way for so long, but I was too scared to say anything."
Wanda felt how delicate your lips were as you leaned in and kissed her. The two of you beamed at eachother as you both pulled away.
For a moment, it felt as though you were the only two people in the world; surrounded by a bubble of your new-found happiness.
“I’m so glad I told you,”
“Me too.”
