so, i think i'm going to end this book here. i know its sudden but still. i'm not as into writing this book as i was when i started it. i still love tfota with all my heart and i plan on making an actual tfota book about jude and cardan and their children. i'm just not into writing small scenarios anymore. i'm more in writing actual chapters and stuff. so thank you for joining me on this journey and i hope to see you in the tfota book i mentioned !

"I'M HAPPY"

few weeks went by and chris and romi found themselves closer to one another each day that passed. they hung out with each other, go on cute dates together, laugh with one another; it's almost like they're dating already.

there is just one thing that's left to do, and that's for chris to finally ask romi.

"chris! babe, you really need to ask romi to be your girlfriend!"

the male frowns as he looks up from his breakfast. there are no others in the kitchen or the house apart from the triplets. he thought he was the only one, since it was only six in the morning, but turns out that nick and matt are awake too. alahna had probably slept over with nick as there would be no logical explanation as to why she would be here so early.

"babe?" the male asks no one in particular, but alahna calling him by that nickname really makes him wonder various things. but mostly, why?

"oh!" the brown-haired girl says, plopping down on the chair opposite of chris. "i'm sorry, chris. i'm so used to calling romi by that name that i call almost everyone that."

alahna grimaces by those words, "i even found myself calling makai that yesterday. that was... let's say it was a weird experience. i've never seen him madder in my entire life, i guess."

"you and makai aren't a match, just saying," matt says, then taking a seat down next to alahna and looking at her. "plus, as an answer to your words; i do think i've seen makai even madder than yesterday. do you remember that fight that you and him had a couple of months ago?"

"mhm, you might be right matt."

the brunette boy smiles and crosses his arms. "i know. anyways, how're things going with josh."

"matt, we're talking about chris here! hey, earth to chris? yeah, hey! did you even hear what i said just now?"

alahna's cheeks glow a deep shade of red as she tries to get josh of her mind. she doesn't want to talk about it because she feels embarrassed. besides, they're here for chris and his love life so there is no room for her to be liking josh or anyone for that matter. the mission is to get chris his crush to like him, and they're finally in the right direction. there is only one more step to finish before the mission's over.

"what?"

the brown-haired girl frowns. "chris... gosh, did you even listen?"

the male shakes his head at alahna her words, then finishes his breakfast. "no, i didn't. i was too caught up in my own thoughts, which are none of your concern, and my breakfast. so yeah, no i didn't listen."

"easy there tiger, suddenly you know how to use your words i see," matt says with a laugh. he places both of his hands on the table and looks at chris with a stern look.

"anyway, we think you should ask romi to be your girlfriend for real now."

"now already?" the guy asks with a frown, titling his head a little to the side. "we've only hung out a couple of times."

"a couple of times? please! you guys have been hanging out together like three or four times a week! that's even more than you do with any of us!"

"yeah, because you guys suck."

"hey, don't need to get all cocky now! you don't even know how to ask the girl you like to be your girlfriend," alahna says, then crossing her arms and looking away. "ugh, pathetic."

matt rolls his eyes at the two exchanging their words. chris isn't showing any emotion, but alahna has her arms crossed and looks somehow sad.

"anyway," matt says, then focusing his eyes on chris. "the last step to complete the mission, is to make it official! come on now, chris!"

the male sighs and places his fork down. "but what if she doesn't like me that much? we haven't even kissed yet. i don't even think she likes me as more than a friend, even though we hung out a lot of times."

alahna's face softens and she turns to chris. "chris," she mumbles, then gives him a smile. "just ask her out."

the male sighs at these words. "so you're telling me that i just need to ask her and not be afraid? how am i going to do that?"

alahna smiles. she stands up from the chair. "simple, chris. you just ask her."

some hours later, chris finds himself at nick's door again. romi's inside playing mario cart with him it feels like that time when he told her she left her pencil case in class, even though matt stole it from her. it feels so weird to be here.

and he's so nervous.

chris has no idea what to say to her. does he say that he likes her? does he just ask her to be his? what do you do in such a situation like this?

"chris, just knock on the door!" matt whispers, leaning a bit away from behind the plant so he can look at his friend. "just knock and you'll see what happens!"

the boy nods, then sighs and knocks on the door. yeah whatever, just fuck it. his friends are right, if he doesn't show courage, he will never ask her to be his girlfriend.

he prepares himself to subtly ask nick to leave the room but, surprisingly, romi opens the door carefully, peaking her head out and then smiling when she sees her friend and crush standing there. "chris! hi, what are you doing here?"

chris tries to get a glance as to whether nick was in the room. once she notices, she opens the door wide open and smiles. "i'm surprised you're here, but definitely not mad. what brings you here?"

"do you want to be my girlfriend?"

the girl widens her eyes and chokes on her spit as those words leave chris's lips. she looks at him wide eyed, her mouth half open and no words coming out.

"say what... ?"

chris starts to blush, looking away and scratching his neck. "do i need to take that as a no? was i too straightforward? i mean, it makes perfect sense if you don't see me in that way but–"

"oh, chris..." the girl then mumbles, a smile creeping upon her lips. she takes a step forward, then grabs his hand in hers. "it's not a no."

"sooo..?" chris says, his face moving to look at his crush's face. he looks a little awkward, the tiniest smile on his lips, leaving romi in awe.

"so, that means that i'd love to be your girlfriend."

chris's tiny smile turns into a bigger one. his lips curl into the hugest smile that romi has ever seen. "oh my... that's incredible."

the girl wraps her arms around her now boyfriend's body, then hugs him tightly. she lays her head against his chest and closes her eyes, smiling brightly.

a few meters to the left, matt, alahna, nick and matt find themselves standing in awe. they watch their friends hug and send each other glances once in a while.

"this is the cutest thing ever!" alahna mumbles, her eyes twinkling by the side of her two friends finally being together.

they really did it. they really used the help of some stupid site to bring chris and romi together. it failed for a second, that's for sure, but it also made them even closer.

romi sighs happily, then letting go of chris. "i was kind of waiting for you to ask me, though. i'm glad you did it in the most you way possible."

"in my way? is that even a good thing?" chris asks, suddenly feeling insecure about the way his girlfriend used her words.

"no! oh gosh, no! it's great. i love how it was the most you way possible! you just stood there and blurted it out as if it was nothing, i like that about you."

the girl smiles and stands on her tiptoes, then places a soft kiss on chris's cheek as she leans onto him with her right hand.

the male blushes at her gesture and watches her stand back right away. she smiles at him, but doesn't take her hand away from his shoulder.

"i'm really happy, chris."

everyone is standing in shock, not knowing what to say. obviously they're estatic about the newfound relationship but, they're just processing it at the moment.

"i'm happy too, romi."

and that everyone, is how you get a girlfriend.

"CLOSE TO HIM"

"alright, chris, are you ready for your date night?" alahna asks her friend as she places some of the snacks that she just bought down.

the male nods at his friend, biting his lip as he looks around his room. he has made his bed ready. there are many blankets, pillows and snacks around his bed, ready for their movie night.

chris told his best friend to not wear anything fancy. it's a date night in his room and they're watching a movie, it's not like she has to wear a glittery dress. if she wants to she can, but she doesn't have to look fancy.

"she'll be here in ten so i'll let you be you!" alahna says, then patting the boy's back. "you'll do fine! don't worry too much. she already likes you enough to go on a date with you so don't worry. just don't be so lame as you usually are."

"thanks for the words," chris says, rolling his eyes at his friend. "really nice words, alahna."

the female chuckles a little and walks slowly to the door. "sorry! but i'm serious, you'll do fine! if you need anything, just text us. we'll be hanging out in nick's room!"

his friend then gets out of the room. chris sighs and takes another look around his room. he thinks that he's ready for his date. now all that's left is to wait for his date to arrive.

a few minutes later, maybe around eight minutes, chris hears a knock on the door. he widens his eyes and quickly places his phone down on the left side of his bed.

the male walks towards the door and opens it. his eyes land on the girl in front of him. she has a stuffed animal in her hands and looks at him with a big smile.

"hey!" she says, sending him an even bigger smile. "i took a stuffed animal with me since you told me to wear relaxing clothes for the movie night! is that okay?"

the boy smiles at his best friend and nods. "yea, of course, romi."

he steps away from the door so romi can walk into the room. the girl looks around and widens her eyes as she sees the small fairy lights hanging around the room.

chris shuts the door and walks towards the female, eyeing her up and down. she looks so adorable with her clothes and bear in her hand. how can she even look good without putting any effort into her outfit? she's just that amazing.

chris smiles to himself and nods. "you look stunning, romi," he says, the smile growing wider as he thinks about one of the steps. complimenting her is a good thing.

"i'm wearing my pyjamas."

it feels like a knife just stabbed into chris's chest. he did his best but apparently, it wasn't good enough. his smile drops and he starts to cough a little. "yeah, sorry. um... you look good though."

she starts to laugh at him. "you're a weirdo because i really don't. it's just a random, pair of purple-coloured pyjamas that i took out of my closet."

the male puts his hand on his neck and nods at her, scratching his neck a little. "if you say so... i do think you look stunning, romi, even if you're wearing just some random purple pyjamas."

the female nods a little then, takes place on the right side of his bed. she leans against the wall and smiles as she looks at the snacks.

"oh my god! you brought the cat crackers! i love them so much," she says, the last part whispering.

chris smiles and takes a seat on the other side of his bed, then grabs the bag and opens it for her. he gives her the bag and she happily takes one of the crackers out.

"you mentioned that you liked the crackers so i made sure to have alahna buy these."

"aw, you kind of think about things..." the female whispers, taking another cracker and eating it right after. the joy she feels is indescribable.

chris smiles at her words and grabs his laptop right after. he places it on his lap and opens the site where he usually watches his movies. "what movie do you want to watch?"

the female leans a bit closer to her best friend. because of that action, chris's heart skips a beat and right after that, beats even faster than before. he widens his eyes a little as his friend places her hand on his leg for support, then points at a genre.

"i want to watch a nice rom-com movie if you're okay with that."

the male nods at her words and clicks on the category rom-coms. the female smiles at his action and looks at all the movies as chris scrolls down slowly.

"oh! i want to watch that one!" the female says after scrolling for a minute or two. chris clicks on the movie and reads the description, then plays it.

"i'm okay with that," he whispers. chris places his laptop down so he and romi can watch it easily.

romi bites her lip and looks at chris a little, trying to do it in secret. she closes her eyes a little during the intro, then decides that she doesn't care about anything anymore.

she just wants to be close to him.

and so she does. she places her head on her friend's shoulder so she can watch the movie more clearer.

that action makes chris's eyes widen. he has trouble breathing as the girl moves her body a bit so she's sitting even closer to him, her body at an angle that makes her hands fall down on the side of his lap while she holds the stuffed animal.

chris doesn't hesitate for a moment and quickly wraps an arm around her. he closes his eyes a little, then feels a huge smile creep upon his lips.

he did it. he really is sitting with his crush in his room, both cuddling, while they're watching a movie. and he doesn't even need his friends for that. he can all do it by himself.

'how to get a girlfriend' suddenly seems so much easier than it did before.

"DOGS"

"you need to decide where you want your date to take place, chris!"

alahna jumps up from the couch and holds up some yellow cards in front of her, smiling brightly. she looks at her friend and motions for matt to join her.

"matt and i came up with some ideas for your date! we know what she likes, so we figured it would be best to do this. all you have to do is choose a date out of these!"

"why are we still doing this?"

the boy sighs loudly, rolling his eyes at his friends. he thought he would be done with this shit, but all it did was backfire him even more and now he has to continue with their plan.

he just wants to enjoy his time with romi and get her to like him on his own. not with his friends by his side.

although... he did have some trouble with the fact that he had to come up with a planned date. he didn't think that far yet and the thought of planning a date freaked him out. so maybe, maybe it's okay for his friends to help him out just a little bit.

"because you're a dumbass and you need us! you're not going to tell me that you came up with a date already, chris," alahna says, looking at her first card and smiling at it.

"no, i don't but," the boy says, his eyes on the ground. "just spill your ideas."

the girl shouts a 'yeah!' and sticks a card to the wall. "alright! the first idea is a coffee shop! we all know how cute that can be!"

chris nods to himself. "yeah, she is a coffee addict. one problem though... i'm not."

alahna sighs and places her hand on her face, shaking her head. "you're helpless, chris. there are so many other things you can order in a coffee shop! plus, it shows how you think about stuff that she likes, too."

the boy nods a little and bites his lip, then thinks. "okay... well, what else do you got?"

matt sticks another yellow card on the wall and points at it. the card says; 'dogs' in thick and black letters.

chris frowns, his eyes moving over the word again. "dogs? why dogs?" he asks the two, moving his head a little to the side. he doesn't understand why he would go on a date with romi and a dog.

"let me explain, dear chris," alahna starts, then points at the card as well. "dogs are cute and romi absolutely loves dogs. she wants one herself when she grows up so we thought it would be cute if you guys walked a dog together!"

the male shakes his head at his friends. "that's absolutely not happening. dogs aren't my friends at times and one time i got bitten by one. i hate dogs. trevor is an exception but, walking them seems like not a good idea."

matt and alahna sigh, then stick another card to the wall. "what about going for dinner together?"

"what topics would we talk about?"

and another yellow card is stuck on the wall, this time another one-word card. "bowling?" nick asks, talking for the first time in a few minutes, "that's fun."

"i've never been bowling before," chris answers to the girls and nick, shaking his head a little. "but it seems fun though."

"oh, no," nick says. "please don't do that. you'll make a fool out of yourself," he says, moving his glasses further up on his head.

alahna nods at his words, then smirked. "he already does, though."

"why are you guys always so mean to me? i thought we were supposed to be friends! i'm starting to think that you all secretly hate me."

"we don't! you don't have to worry. alright, none of these are going to work. alahna, what do we do now?" nick says, looking at his friend.

alahna looks at the last card in her hands. she sticks the card to the wall and takes a deep breath. "i guess it's going to be a lame movie night, then."

nick laughs, patting his own knee as he keeps on laughing. "oh! that shouldn't be a problem! chris is already lame, so she wouldn't be surprised if the date was lame too!"

chris rolls his eyes and stands up, rubbing the dust off of his pants. "you guys are no help. the movie date sounds good to me. i don't like going all out anyway and i don't even know if she likes me. so, if you'll excuse me, i'll go and sit in my room while i do nothing but cry about you, stupid idiots."

the boy walks away from his friends and up the stairs to his own room. His friends start to laugh and shake their heads. "oh, that poor bitch... i feel sorry for him," nick mumbles, his eyes focused on the staircase.

matt and alahna nod at his words, also looking in the same direction. alahna then shrugs and crosses her arms, pointing at the last yellow card on the wall.

"you can say what you want, but he has a date idea now!"

"THOSE BASTARDS"

"oh, you fucked up badly, chris!"

the male groans at his friends, slamming his head into the pillow on his bed and sighing deeply. "i fucking know!"

matt pouts at his brother, sitting down on his bed and looking at his feet. he had heard this from romi but, he still felt bad for chris. "maybe we went too far this time. we knew it didn't work but we still made him do it."

chris looks up at his friends. nick and alahna nod a little, feeling bad as well. "and now our friend hates chris because he told her anyone who's seen with her is asking for social suicide."

"yeah, that was fucking stupid, chris."

"i fucking know, matt! i don't even mean it but here i am, fucking up the only chance to have a friendship. she doesn't only want to be with me in a romantic way,no, she doesn't even want to be friends anymore!"

"it'll be fine," matt says, looking at his friends. "we brought you into this mess so we're also getting you out of it."

"and how will you do that, huh? force her to talk to me? she walks away from me as soon as i pass her in the hallways. not only at school, but also at home! she completely walks away from me whenever she's with you both!"

the male sighs and then sits up. "i don't think there is anything we can do."

"yes, there is," matt says, looking at alahna and nick, "but i don't think you're going to like it so we're not going to tell you what we're going to do."

"what?"

chris looks at his friends. he doesn't know what going on, which isn't weird since his friends came up with a plan without him. now, all that's left to do is follow their plan and make sure romi likes chris.

"nothing. just stay here and cry or something," matt mumbles, then motioning for his other two friends to follow him.

chris rolls his eyes, "whatever. you're the one always crying, matt."

"shut up!"

the door of chris's room slams shut and minutes later, the three friends find themselves standing in romi's room. It's time to fix their mess.

a loud knock is heard on chris's door. "what?!" he shouts, his mind focusing on his phone. He's been looking at tiktoks all day and tries to get in a better mood, but even the tiktoks don't work.

"we need you for something!" nick says at the other side of the door. "can you help us?"

chris sighs and stands up from his desk, then walks towards his door with his slippers on. He opens the door and sees a smiling nick standing there. matt is standing right behind him with a smile too.

"come on, chris! wereally need you for this thing."

the male nods a little, "alright. for what exactly?" he asks them, then walking behind them when they start to walk to an unknown destination.

"you'll see!"

soon, they arrive at the school grounds. there aren't any students around aside from the four friends and – big surprise – romi.

chris his eyes widen when he notices the girl and realizes what's going on. "what? guys! oh come on... why did you do this to me?"

"you guys need to talk," matt starts, then pointing at Romi, "you two used to be best friends and now you're at the point of not talking to each other. that's exactly the opposite of what the plan was for!"

chris nods a little, "yeah..." he starts, then scratches his neck. "we really have to talk, romi," he mumbles, then looks away from the girl. "can we?"

She nods a little. "yeah, we can. start talking, chris."

the three other friends slowly start to back away. they won't get away completely of course, since they still have to listen to what they'll talk about. especially nick, he's eager to know what the two will say and if they'll make up.

after a long silence, chris finally starts to talk, "i'm sorry," he mumbles, closing his eyes a little and taking a deep breath. "there are no words to describe how fucking awful i feel about all the things i said. i'm just stupid, that's all i can say."

romi nods a little to his words, her eyes then focusing on his blue ones. "i know... you know, they explained it all."

"did they now?"

chris looks up with wide eyes, his face becoming a dark shade of red. "oh no, they didn't..." he mumbles, shaking his head repeatedly. the black-haired female nods and then smiles a little.

"oh, those bastards."

she chuckles a little and places her hand in front of her mouth. "i think it's absolutely adorable, chris. didn't know you were such a shy person," she says, followed by a wink.

chris's cheeks start to blush even more. "oh, shut up, romi."

the male sighs a little, his hand still on his neck while he looks at the ground. "listen, uh... i'm sorry for acting like such a dickhead towards you. you're awesome, alright? if anyone tells you differently, they're stupid. i'm stupid too, so there's that."

the girl laughs a little. chris looks up because of her laughter and feels his cheeks heat up even more. Is that all she's going to do? laugh at his words? ouch.

"i forgive you, chris. you're my best friend and i don't want to lose you."

Pang!

ah, there was chris's heart that broke into a million pieces. so his friends told her that they were coming up with a plan for romi to like him, and now she tells him exactly what he didn't need to hear? alright then, that doesn't hurt at all.

"and you have a cute nose yourself, too."

his eyes widen, "what?" he mumbles, his heart starting to beat faster at her words.

the girl chuckles slightly, her eyes sparkling with joy. "that's what you said a couple of days ago. it was pretty cute and your nose is cute too!"

chris blushes even more. "ah, yeah. you're welcome! i mean... man, i suck. uh–"

the male takes a deep breath. he looks at the girl in front of him. her eyes speak louder than words. she's smiling brightly. it's maybe the biggest smile that chris has ever seen on the girl.

and that's why he's just going for it.

"listen, romi... i really like you and... fuck it, do you want to go on a date with me? i mean, only if you want to, of course. yeah... because i really uh– yeah because i really like you."

he shakes his head, his eyes closing, "oh my god, why did i say it like that?" the guy mumbles to himself, not seeing the even bigger smile form on romi her lips.

"chris... i'd love to go on a date with you."

a few meters away from the two best friends, matt, nick and alahna are smirking badly at the words that they're hearing. their plan worked, and now all that's left is chris not being stupid anymore.

"step whatever step we're on is done, now all that's left is get chris to make romi his."

"TEASE HER"

the following days were awkward for the two friends. mostly, because chris just didn't know what to say to the female anymore. how was 'your nose is cute' a good idea?

it wasn't.

the male is currently sitting in the cafeteria with his friends– romi excluded. she's working on something that she doesn't want her friends to see yet, so she's in her art classroom painting. again. for the third time this week.

chris sighs to himself, his head leaning on his right hand while he listens to alahna explaining something. he doesn't really care, which might come off as rude, but he's just been thinking about his best friend for so long and he can't help but feel bad.

why did it have to end like this? why did he say that her nose was cute? who says such a thing like that? apparently, chris thinks it's a good idea.

and yet again, it wasn't.

the two haven't been talking for four days now. sometimes they talk in a group, but it's not like they get eye contact with each other. they used to do that, and chris liked it. her eyes are so pretty. but, now with him acting like a complete idiot, he just can't look her in the eyes anymore.

"chris," nick says after a while, then nudging his shoulder, "are you doing alright?"

chris looks up, head out of his hands and his eyes focusing on nick. chris shrugs at his words, looking in the direction of the staircase right after.

"ohh, you're thinking about romi, aren't you?"

chris focuses his sight on nick again and nods a little. "yeah, maybe."

"aw, chris! brighten up! i think it's time for the next step, then! what do you think?" alahna says, smiling at her friend and sitting up straight.

nick grabs his phone and opens the safari app. the site immediately pops up, making the two happy. nick starts reading the site with alahna following too.

"the next step is to tease her," nick says, looking up to his brother, "that might be a hard step for you."

chris groans a little, crossing his arms. "this is stupid. this is never going to work. but you know, it can't get worse than this, can it?"

"what does it say?" matt asks.

nick jumps up from next to chris and runs towards matt. nick plops down next to alahna, leaning over her a little to let matt look at the phone screen.

"you're fucked, chris," matt says, starting to laugh. nick places his hand in front of his mouth and looks at chris.

"what?" chris asks, frowning. he stands up from the table as well, "what does the site say?"

nick laughs, "i quote: 'teasing is the easiest way to create sexual tension between you and the girl you like'. ah, how great! this will be good."

chris his eyes widen and he shakes his head. "what?! I'm not trying to create sexual tension between us!"

"you're such a pussy, chris," matt remarks.

the whole group is in shock as they turn their heads toward matt. did those wordsreally come from his mouth just now? matt, out of all people, saidthat? matt, who, used to take the long way to science class just because his crush from last year used the shorter path. matt, who, used to refuse to walk down the same corridor as her. that matt?

matt widens his eyes when, he realises his hypocritical words, "wait! no, wait. that's not what i meant! i mean– oh whatever. but chris, as you said, what is there to lose? you're already friends and you've told her that her nose was cute. i don't think you can fuck it up even more."

"thanks for the encouraging words, matt."

nick and alahna start to laugh at the two guys. chris rolls his eyes at their laughter and then sits down on the chair again.

"alright, what do i have to do?" chris sighs.

"yay!" the brown-haired girl shouts, jumping up from the chair. nick chuckles slightly at his friend next to him, but can't help it and feel a little excited too.

"the site says you have to start teasing her. it gets her interested in you because it shows them that you're not afraid of risking confrontation."

"oh, that reminds me of the time that chris went crazy in the hospital and thought he was a werewolf when trevor bit him or something," nick says, to which matt starts to laugh, mimicking chris's words.

"oh, yeah! that was great."

chris looks away, feeling embarrassed. "can you guys stop? i thought we were supposed to get a girl to like me."

"right!" alahna says, then turning to her friend. "just tease her with words. i think you'll be fine. crack a joke here and there, tease her about her performances at training or something... just make sure you're not being rude."

chris nods at alahna her words. "alright, i think i can do that."

but boy, what was he wrong.

a few days later, the students are standing on the field. they're all ready for their teacher to tell them what to do.

chris is standing next to nick and romi. he watches as mr macloed walks onto the school grounds, and then explains what the plan is for the day. they're playing capture the flag.

a while later, chris, romi, maya, nick and estella are teamed up against alahna, matt, judo, kole and aiden. they need to capture the flag and bring it back to their base– the same counts for the other group.

"so, do we have a plan?" nick asks, looking at his teammates. romi pouts her lips, then looks at their surroundings.

"we need to capture their flagand we need to protect ours so how are we going to do that?" romi says to her team, looking at nick in particular. "you can go head on, maybe it's a good idea that you keep a lookout."

nick nods at her words. "i think maya is great for getting their flag. maybe estella can go with her because once she gets the flag, she can move faster and bring it back to our base."

"that leaves me and chris to protect the flag then. i think that's great."

chris nods at his friend's words, then looks up. "now we wait for the start signal," he mumbles.

he's been thinking about something. how is he going to tease the girl then? he certainly doesn't know how to tease her in any other way.

"alright, let's go!"

the start signal goes off and nick, maya and estella immediately start to run in the opposite direction. they came up with a plan to capture the flag, and chris and romi trust them in doing their job. meanwhile, they will look around and try not to get their flag captured.

"if you spot anyone, tell me so I can turn into my alpha form and scare them away," romi says, eyeing every corner to see if no one's there.

"don't," chris says cringing and laughing. romi laughs with him, "i'm sorry. i'm on something i swear."

after the laughter has died down, chris starts looking around as well. now the only thing they have to do is wait and see if anyone tries to capture their flag.

"you know,"chris starts, not really knowing what to say next. but you know, it's a start for maybe a joke or a way to tease her.

romi looks up, "what's up?" she asks the boy, watching him look around the field. it's silent, and maybe a bit too silent.

"you're cool but, don't you think you're kinda embarrassing to be around?" he says, then looking at the girl with a smile.

romi her eyes widen and she bites her lip. "what do you mean? is it really that bad?" she whispers, feeling a bit insecure. why is he saying this? she can't be worse than chris, right?

"well, you're a weirdo. it's cool but maybe embarrassing too for others around you, you know! like sometimes I wonder why we're even friends."

the girl looks away. "if you think that way, why are you even friends with me?" she says, clenching her fists, "you're being an asshole, chris."

"romi, wait–"

the girl turns away and chris's eyes widen. "romi!" he shouts, but the girl scoffs a little.

"i'm embarrassing to be around, right? get the fuck away from me, then."

and without anything else being said, the girl turns around and runs away. she scans the area, trying to find some people while being done with the guy. if he thinks she's a loser, she will show him she doesn't need him, that fucking asshole.

as soon as he realises what happened, chris realizes he fucked upbadlythis time, even worse than before.

how is he going to fix this?

"YOUR NOSE IS CUTE"

"okay, yesterday didn't go that well, but today will be great!" the brown-haired girl shouts to her friend, smiling as she turns her attention back to her phone.

"i'm not doing this shit again," the male says, rolling his eyes at her. "yesterday was already embarrassing enough. i don't want her to think i'm hiding something from her, alahna."

"you won't!" the girl says excitedly, scrolling down to step two. "this time, all you have to do is give her a compliment! just approach her, start a conversation, and give her a compliment about something that you notice about her. just use your brain and think about something on the spot. maybe, you notice that she has new shoes or something. complimenting will help." she says.

"this could work," matt says, turning to his brother. "even I can complete this step, and that says something, chris. plus, no one can fuck this up."

the male sighs at his friends and looks at them then, nods. "alright, let's go then. i don't have a reason to talk to her, though."

matt grabs romi's pencil case out of his bag. "here you go," he says, throwing it at his brother.

chris frowns at his actions and the pencil case in his hands. matt notices this and laughs. "i stole it when she wasn't looking when we were grabbing our stuff to head home. she might miss it at this point, or not, but you can tell her she left it at her desk. i'm not trying to get with your girl don't worry."

chris nods a little, "i'm not saying you were. alright... i guess i need to give this back to her then?"

"yeah, would be smart, huh?"

he sighs at matt's words and stands up from the ground, looking at the pencil case in his hands. it was now or never.

"what are we going to do?" alahna asks as she watches her friend walk out of his room, towards nick's room where he and romi are.

matt shrugs, "wait for him to get back?" he offers, to which alahna shakes her head and she starts to smile. "we should watch this too!"

"i don't think that's a good idea," matt tries to say, but the girl has already made her way out of chris's room. he sighs to himself and shakes his head, then heads out as well to keep an eye on his friend.

chris is standing at the door of his brother's room, ready to knock on the door. however, he doesn't know what to say. how is he going to give her a compliment if he doesn't even know what to say?

"oh! the pencil case, right..." he mumbles, then knocks on the door.

on the other side of the hallway, close to chris's room, his brother and friend are standing, trying to catch some sort of glimpse of what's going on with chris and romi.

soon after chris knocked, the door opened, and nick is standing in front of him. getting the signal, he motions chris to go in and announces that he needs a drink, leaving the two alone in his room.

chris's eyes widen in panic, and he quickly shoves her pencil case in her face as he walks in. "here, you forgot this at your desk today."

romi frowns at her best friend's words, and then nods. "ah, right," she says with a smile after she took a lollipop out of her mouth, then takes the pencil case out of chris's hands. "thank you, chris."

"you're welcome."

it's silent for a while. romi then points behind her to the mario cart game, "well, i think i should be going back. thank you, again, but I want to finish my race."

she's about to close the door when her friend starts shouting a 'wait' just before she closes the door completely. romi opens the door again, and chris mumbles some words.

"i... um..." he mumbles, then looks up to the girl. he watches her features and then blurts out his compliment.

"your nose is cute."

her black eyes meet chris's blue ones, and he swears he sees a faint blush form on her cheeks. it might be the heat making her face hot, though.

"thanks," she says with a chuckle, then closes the door halfway again, "random but, thanks."

chris's cheeks start to blush and he turns around, ready to leave nick's room. what was he even thinking? your nose is cute, how is that a good compliment?

"yours too," romi whispers, then closes the door fully, leaving chris's cheeks to heat up even more.
