Yes! This! Either have them stick together and both be either good or evil. If they are both good, then have one of them bring the other back to the good side. Or give one of them a perfectly valid reason to go against the other- like Magnifico lying about who he is to Amaya for their entire lives or something. Don’t just have one little situation break them apart if they’ve truly loved and adored each other!
If they’re both evil, let them be evil. Don’t throw in some dumb book as a plot device to make a character a ‘classic Disney villain’ and justify that they’re unredeemable. The producers had the right villainy in the deleted scenes, my goodness.
Tumblr media
In the movie, they should’ve just allowed a true love’s kiss but nah. Disney messed it up fr. Whether they’re good or evil doesn’t matter to me as long as it is written WELL! Not the crap Wish gave us.
shoutout to Disney's Wish (2023) for completely spitting on the idea that wives help their husbands. like even if the pointy queen couldn't convince Chris Pine to turn good, you could have at least given us the evil power couple in the concept art

UGH, I really wanted that classic Disney villain. Not whatever they gave us. King Magnifico is still the best character in the movie, but I’m really disappointed where they took his character in general. The movie is just so, so lame.
Found a clip of the Wish story producers talking about how the first five minutes of the original series of boarded sequences had Magnifico being evil from the get-go. During the first five minutes, he’d been shown being vile. Actually DOING evil acts. That’s what I wanted and I’m sure plenty of other people wanted. Ugh, this movie makes me so mad. Here’s the clip for proof.
Also, the drawn frames you see in here aren’t a part of those first five minutes. Those are from the deleted scene titled “Valentino Is A Star” and in that scene, Mark Kennedy aka the Head of Story, said that scene took place right before the climax of the original story and script.
So they’re just using the frames from that deleted scene to visually show how Magnifico eats the wishes. What the people in the clip are talking about is the first five minutes of the original script. …Say first five minutes 3x in a row, ya’ll.
Anyways, gonna go continue dreaming about a better story than the one that we got.

The heartbreak in her eyes says a lot. 💖 This is beautifully done!
Tumblr media
Something about her handling the mirror with a care it doesn't deserve bc that corrupted thing still wears the face of the one she loved
(i.e. this movie would've been so much better if Amaya had been allowed to grieve Magnifico despite knowing he was beyond saving)
There are ofc a lot of other things I would've changed but man, this concept has had a hold on me—

Okay so I recently, finally, watched Wish and I have some thoughts. Overall, not as bad as everyone makes it out to be, but still has a lot of fundamental story problems and I've got to get them off of my chest. I'll mostly be focused on Magnifico because I think his motivations and arc largely represent the problem with the overall theme.
Okay so my biggest problem with Magnifico is his motivation. His tragic backstory. How on earth does he go from losing his whole family to thinking, the only way he can prevent that from happening again is to grant wishes? The logic doesn't track. It almost makes sense in his creating a kingdom where he protects everyone and "doesn't even charge rent," but it does not make sense with his wish granting. Having a great need to be control to make sure he doesn't lose anyone ever again can be a compelling motivation for a villain, where we see lines crossed that don't justify the intent, but in the movie, he's too self-absorbed to seem to have any actual care for the people of Rosas.
I think if the motivation was changed to something like Magnifico had once been a bright-eyed, enthusiastic wish granter who blindly believed all wishes were good but learned the hard way that that wasn't true could have been a better fit for the overall goal of the movie. Imagine that he granted a wish for a wicked person who used that wish to hurt others, or if Magnifico granted a wish but that wish ended up ruining the person's life because what they wanted wasn't what they needed (i.e. Remember The Princess and the Frog? Dig a little deeper) and that person could have went after Magnifico and blamed him for their troubles (harkening back to We Don't Talk about Bruno). This would be an understandable tragic backstory for Magnifico, and better explain why he's so careful about the wishes he grants. And, perhaps the reason he keeps the wishes he doesn't want to grant is to keep the people in his kingdom docile. No one will be angry with him for not granting their wishes if he makes them forget them and lose that drive and motivation, which makes more sense than the unexplained hording them like he does in the movie? Why does he keep them in the movie other than admiring the wishes? It doesn't make sense to me.
This would give Asha more of a reason to oppose him, if it's shown how his desire to not get hurt or to inadvertently cause hurt turned into a paranoia where he drains people of wishes to fly or play music that inspires others. And, as a side note, we need to see more of how Rosas is a kingdom of people who lack drive and motivation, where only those younger than 18 have that special part of them that inspires them to chase after a dream (something that Astor Rhymemaster touched on). Because that's the point of wishes, right? That's the point of the entire Disney canon. A dream is a wish your heart makes. That star can only get you so far, it takes hard work and determination. It's wanting something better in life, it's dreaming of leaving behind all you know to chase after a tangible light. It's finding a new dream, it's finding a new wish as you grow and learn about yourself and the world.
I don't think the movie Wish understood what makes wishes so important in Disney stories. You know what wishes do? They ignite change. It's not about getting what you want, it's about finding the courage to chase after something better. Ariel wants to be where the people are, but really she wants to be somewhere where others are willing to understand her and in the end, she finds that and makes amends with her father, who finally is willing to see her for who she is. Rapunzel wants to see the lights, and that desire pushes her to leave a tower she's been trapped in her whole life, learning that the world is not as cruel and cold as her abusive mother told her. Cinderella wants to go to the ball, to dance with people who treat her as a person and not a servant of cinders and ash. That wish is granted by a fairy godmother and gives her a hope that is worth fighting for, a hope that helps her reclaim what is rightfully hers; a glass slipper that fits only her and the love that comes with it.
Wishes inspire change. The movie should have been about that. Magnifico could have been right, that some wishes inspire negative change that can drag down multiple people. The kingdom of Rosas could have been so placid because change is scary. Maybe Magnifico could have convinced people, after taking their wish, that it wasn't worth it. Maybe the wish ceremonies could have changed so it wasn't portrayed as some sort of lottery everyone looks forward to, but Magnifico would grant wishes on the spot if he decided they were good and worthwhile, and he would lock away the wishes that would cause trouble and tribulations. 18 year olds could be enthusiastic to give him their wishes, thinking they were surely good and worth granting, only to forget their wish and be told that their wish would have only brought about their unhappiness, this would have justified a more solemn tone in the kingdom, setting up a world where people are mostly downtrodden, thinking their wishes are bad and pointless and they're better off without them. Imagine Cinderella or Rapunzel being told their wishes weren't good, reinforcing all the things their abusive families tell them, taking away that hope and courage to find something better for themselves.
Here's where the true conflict could come in. Asha could be onto this from the beginning, and her opening song could have been about this concern that the people who didn't get their wishes granted aren't willing to try at all. (Because, after all, why doesn't Sabino play music at all? Having that taken from him would take so much joy and creative expression from his life!) But why does Asha know something is amiss?
Simon.
Imagine that Magnifico has a strict rule not to ever share your wish with another person because then it wouldn't come true. It makes sense with our own superstitions, and then makes it so that no one knows anyone else's wishes. Maybe your best friend changes so drastically after giving up their wish, but you believe, like everyone else, that their wish would have only caused suffering. What can you do about it? Well what if Simon told Asha about his wish? What if Asha knew his wish wasn't dangerous and couldn't imagine a way that it could go wrong? That would give her a reason to doubt Magnifico and put more emphasis on how Simon has lost his drive like all the other adults in the kingdom. And it can also emphasize in the end that sharing your wishes and dreams with others can be a powerful thing. Just the act of sharing your dreams can inspire others to go after their own, and they can give you the encouragement to chase your wish too. Wishes inspire change, love gives you the courage to make it happen.
Imagine if the star boy used to be a human, who wished to help others and lost his humanity to do it. Imagine his wish confirms Magnifico's belief, that wishes cause suffering because star boy lost his tether to earth and is separated from the people he loves. Imagine how he foils Asha who also wants to grant everyone's wishes. Imagine him ensuring she doesn't make the same mistake he did while she gives him a reason to change again, to anchor himself to humanity again because he loves her enough not to leave for forever.
Imagine the movie confirming that, yes, change is scary. Chasing your dreams won't always make things better. You might fail more than you succeed and some wishes cannot coincide with each other, leading to grief and strife. But some wishes are worth it. Sometimes, chasing after something better and failing is worth leaving a worse situation. Sometimes taking that chance is worth it, and, like in all fairy tales, if you are kind and generous and act with love, that will make all the difference in the end.
Also, I know everyone wished for a Magnifico and Amaya evil power couple, but imagine if Magnifico was truly in love with Amaya, as he is in the movie, but that love is eventually his undoing. Like Amaya leaps in front of Asha, and Magnifico stops or redirects his attack because she's the one thing he loves more than himself and that is the weakness that Asha and co can take advantage of. Imagine Amaya keeping Magnifico in the mirror and he gets to dote on her from his imprisonment for forever. I'm just saying. At least 30 sickos like me would be into that. Imagine the depth it would give to the themes of love and change and wishing and how acts of love make all the difference.
Alright, I'll get off my soap box. I just really wish Wish could have been stronger because these fairy tales Disney is famous for matter. They really do. But the movie feels too stale and shallow and too much of a cash grab that knows the outline of a disney musical, but is unable to understand the heart of why they work.

Malcon Pierce is the Studio Artistic Director for Walt Disney Animation Studios. He drew the first image of Asha in 2020 (and it’s also one of the first if not THE first) illustrations of Asha and the second picture has an unknown date, but was for the visual development of both Asha and Star. So we can also assume the second picture is from 2020-ish.
I think the first image really summarizes visually about how I thought Asha was going to be like in the movie, and was disappointed that certain details countered the good intentions of this character. Here she looks passionate, selfless, bold, and like a true activist. A comment under the instagram post assumed it was inspired by the activism happening in that year, and I totally agree.
THIS is what they should’ve done. THIS is how they should’ve portrayed Asha as a heroine, but no. The story and narrative fumbled her character, down-graded her to another quirky protagonist, and gave her questionable motives and lessons compared to the so-called villain of the movie. A hollow husk of a character.
I wanted THIS Asha. Is that selfish of me? Probably. But the passion and meaning behind Asha’s concept/idea is truly inspiring to me and I am horrified of what they’ve done to this character in the final execution.
Just wanted to say something about these two amazing illustrations. Thank you to Malcon Pierce for drawing these. And thank you to the op for posting these! I just felt a strong connection to these two and I’m going to treasure them, and even imagine what could’ve been: A story that reflected an activist against an unjust system. One that could’ve inspired millions. But unfortunately, the movie is no where near this.
Sorry if this is a little dramatic, haha.

Already loving this crossover AU! 😭💖
A wish crossover au where Magnifico is the slave in the magic mirror but with a twist. See the evil queen forbade Snow from talking to the mirror for fear of Snow using his power against her. But Snow talked to him anyway. He was like a secret friend to her and he started to feel the same way. But alas, rags can not hide her gentle grace and Snow becomes more fairer than the queen. But there’s a twist.
Somehow, after telling the queen about Snow’s beauty, the mirror breaks and Magnifico escapes. He has become good friends with Snow and wants to protect her from her stepmother. The story diverges from there, with Magnifico becoming a father figure to Snow.
A few things:
Magnifico doesn’t want Snow to find out how he got in the mirror. He will go under the fake name “M” which he says stands for “Mirror” (but actually stands for “Magnifico”)
Snow has heard about the kingdom of Rosas. But only as a kingdom that has long been in ruins that was once threatened by a “evil monster wrapped in green”. She doesn’t know that’s M
When asked something, M will automatically know the uncut truth about it. In fact he can’t lie no matter what. He can twist it a little but it has to be true.
M has no emotion. Having been in the mirror for years and years, he has been broken down by both magic and slavery. He can show some emotion but for the most part he acts stoic
M has glass eyes like Lapis from Steven Universe. Cracks are around his face, giving him a broken look.
M will go John Wick on anyone who dares hurt Snow. He still has his magic and won’t be afraid to use it.

THE WISHES GIVEN TO KING MAGNIFICO ARE ALL GOOD-INTENTIONED
✨——————————
When reading comments and analysis about Wish, many people assume that some wishes are bad or ill-intentioned. For example someone would say “What if someone’s wish was to kill?”
No, the wishes aren’t like that. This isn’t a post in defense of Asha’s point (though you can easily do so with this), but rather just a clarification for what the wishes given to King Magnifico are. It’s proven in the movie, too.
Tumblr media
To start, wishes aren’t just ideas. Killing is an idea. But is it a part of your heart? No. If you were blood-thirsty or something and really wanted to do that, then first- get some help. Second, this is a kids’ movie. Third, Rosas is meant to be a safe haven for those who want to live in such a place. People GO THERE to be safe. If King Magnifico saw that someone really was blood-thirsty, do you really think he’d let them stay there? No.💀 He wouldn’t even look at all the wishes with a loving expression if some of them were actually BAD.
Take the woman’s wish was to fly for example. Talking more about how wishes aren’t just ideas but a part of your heart, it looks like the woman wanted to fly with birds, or just fly in general. Is that really what she wanted from face value? No, I really don’t think so. The flying could be a metaphor for being free, to travel, to experience things… you can interpret it into almost anything! (That’s what Magnifico did which led him to not grant a lot of wishes, but I’ll get into the downside of their given wishes soon). That’s why the woman wasn’t disappointed by the idea of a flying machine. She didn’t want to simply just fly with the birds- she wanted to travel, or experience freedom in the air, or something just as wonderful like those things. I’ll add “Interpretations of Each Wish in Wish” post to my list of other posts I’ve said I’d possibly make.
Oh! And let’s bring up what *Magnifico* said what wishes are. He said that they’re not just ideas, but what else? A part of your heart, but what part?
“They are a part of your heart. The very best part.”
The wishes are all good-intentioned. They mean well and are from the purest, bestest part of a person’s heart. From their soul more to speak. This proves that they aren’t even common wishes either. Like money, for example, people live in Rosas which is a rent-free currency(?)-free kingdom. There is no need for money all that much, so what would be the point in wishing for more money? Go to timestamp 0:20 until 0:30 to prove that the given wishes aren’t just bland.
youtube
And some people might say “The movie only shows the good wishes to prove Asha’s point that the people of Rosas are good. There could be bad wishes floating around somewhere.” The people of Rosas aren’t good. No one is just ‘good’. What Asha may of been saying is that the people of Rosas are good-INTENTIONED. A little greedy and ignorant and entitled, admittedly, but they don’t mean any harm. But ‘good-intentioned‘ would just further prove my point that the wishes themselves are good-intentioned.
Besides, if King Magnifico says that the wishes are “everything” and that “they’re the best part of your heart” then we should take his word for it. He has the wishes and knows more about them, so why should we deny that?
Tumblr media
Another thing I want to bring up is that just because the wishes are good-intentioned, it doesn’t mean that they can’t be dangerous. A wish could be good-intentioned, but vague- like Sabino’s. A good wish can have consequences almost like a bad wish. It’s more-so a *probability* that a good wish would end up with negative consequences, but a bad wish always ends up with negative consequences.
So my point is that the wishes are all good-intentioned, but some may just be too vague to be considered safe. The people of Rosas don’t seek to cause harm. But they sure are ignorant.
Tumblr media
That’s one of the reasons why Magnifico doesn’t grant a lot of wishes. It’s not because some wishes are BAD, it is because some wishes are VAGUE or NOT WELL THOUGHT OUT. Whether or not another reason why he wouldn’t grant a lot of wishes was because he wanted undeniable control and power is up to interpretation. I don’t really care for that bit.
Finally- and this is just a nitpick about the movie- “What about the wish of someone wanting a nanny for their horribly behaved children? Is that really a best part of a person’s heart?”Yeah, that’s a dumb wish. It really downgrades the purpose of the wishes in this case, so I don’t know why Disney would’ve done that. For an easter egg, yeah, but they just underwhelmed their own movie even more with this detail.

“Asha”
I was made to be a princess
To fill the shoes of those countless before me
I was envisioned with love and care, my story crafted by beautiful storytellers
Yet somehow I was still stripped of all I was meant to be
That passion that was once present, slowly sucked away by the ones in higher control
More concerned about how the story would be perceived, rather than how the story would make others feel
A story long since told, a story that inspired others, that formed and changed lives
A spark of light and joy that preserved the innocence of a child despite the world, that drive to keep going
An innocence that was stolen from the very greed that turned me from a burst of hope and nostalgia… to a sullen husk
The meaning of my message now misunderstood, I no longer am the light that everyone so desperately needed me to be
I became a villain, a villain in my own story
And when I turned out to be useless to these corporate masters, even if it was their fault that I came out this way…
They tossed me aside and moved on

Op’s last paragraph is everything. 💖
We all need to get along, especially in a fanbase that is unfortunately small-ish. We can disagree with each other, but bullying is not okay.
If you think that you have the right to harass another person just because they disagree with your opinion- just stop. 💀 Talk it out. Come to a compromise. You don’t need to agree with each other, just COMPROMISE. Or ignore each other, that’s always an option.
People need to grow up and get over the fact that people have different opinions and different views. Some may not always be according in your perspective, but is that a reason to hate or make fun of someone? No.
Please, everyone, just get along and have fun. Remember that this is a MOVIE. It’s a form of entertainment. Let people express their love and knick-picks about a work in their own way.
Stay safe and respectful. Thank you to the op for making this post. 💖
Sad but apparently necessary ...
Tumblr media
I just had to block a few users .... I normally don't do that but MY GOD are they getting unhinged with their hate against us defenders and Magnifico.
We are right and they are mighty mad and bitter about it. This isn't about disagreement. They openly attack and harass us. I don't think I've mentioned this before but I've recieved death threats before! The same people who go about claiming we are nuts for defending Magnifico and opening eyes to the fact that he's the good guy, come at us with raging hate, bullying and toxicity! Open minded my butt!
This is not ok! In no way is this ok! We are doing nothing wrong. Please, if you come across a hate post against Magnifico and us defenders, report them to me so I can block them and please block them too! Let's stop this!
My blog is and has been a safe place for all who love Magnifico and for those who defend him with me. I've gotten and still get so much support and love and I cannot thank you enough!
Like I've mentioned before, I can handle disagreement, but hate is something I will not tolerate. Not against me, not against my friends, not against anyone of you my dears! I'll protect and defend you just as I do Magnifico!

The best Seven Teens redesigns 🙏🏽💖
Tumblr media
My Seven Friends redesigns c:
This is how they look in my AU/headcanons
Their clothes are inspired by what culture I think they're from based on their names.
Gabo - Spaniard (since Rosa is set somewhere in Spain, I gave him a nicer Spanish tunic. He works in the Castle Kitchens so he shouldn't be able to afford it, but Bazeema made it for him for his birthday)
Hal - North African (gave her a dress because I don't like the trend where the darkest skinned girl is the most masculine)
Safi - Arabian (I didn't really change his clothes to match his culture. He just wears the coziest clothes he can find as long as they don't trigger his allergies. Bazeema is his sister in my hc, and she made his clothes for him to help with his easily irritable skin)
Dahlia - Taiwanese (I didn't change her clothes much, I liked her design. I gave her a bandanna because she placed her hands on top of her head while thinking and doesn't want to get flour in her hair)
Bazeema - Arabian (Bazeema and Safi are siblings, and Bazeema likes to reflect her culture more in her clothing than Safi does. She's a seamstress and works at her mother's shop, and made Safi's clothes for him to help with his allergies and irritable skin)
Simon O'Donohue - Irish (Simon is a Hebrew name, but O'Donohue is derived from an Irish name, and because that's his last name I'm going with that one. Because this is his Knight outfit, its just the one from the movie without any Irish influences)
Dario - German (Dario is an Italian name, but his mother named him that after already arriving at Rosas and seeing others with the name, liking it)

I’d be fine with any, but I have to say that I definitely agree with the op’s tags. I think an evil Magnifico and a good Amaya is a great idea, it just needed to be put together better. With that being said, all of these ideas can be good if it was written and scripted well. I don’t think an instant Starboy or Villain Couple would’ve fixed Wish, but if it the story improves itself through writing it can be! Same goes for the movie itself- if the writing and storytelling was well-defined and actually *shown* just as much as it tells, it could’ve been amazing.
All in all if an idea is handled well by the producers of a story, then it can be great!
wish fans assemble! I have a poll for u
I'm very curious

Are you on that Starboy crap?
I’m going to assume that you don’t like Starboy. If you do actually like him, then I don’t detect it anywhere here. It’s things like these that make me backoff from sharing stuff about Starboy, because in truth I like the idea of it. But ultimately, I can’t please everyone so whatever.
Tumblr media
Firstly, I’d like to address in defense of those who love Starboy and as said from Star’s section in the concept book, the first phase was a series of Star in various human forms. Star’s young Sabino form is the THIRD phase. So don’t try to use the excuse of ‘Starboy being Sabino’. Read, please. Respectfully.
Tumblr media
Anyways, if you haven’t already figured it out, I like to look at different routes. I can’t stick to just one, so I make multiple routes with multiple scenarios and storylines and characterizations. So I guess this is a good time to address both my opinion on Starboy and my ideas for Star in general.
I think Starboy would’ve been an adorable addition. He’s great, the ship between him and Asha is great, and every redesign I’ve seen of him just makes me love him more. I’m aesthetically drawn to characters at this point, which is a reason I like designing. The only thing that I question about Starboy is his own story. I don’t typically like the idea of him being *the* wishing star, but rather an extension or ‘child’ of the Blue Fairy. Him being childish and curious would be supported by that idea, because you can’t really rely on a higher power if that higher power is reliant on you teaching him about Earth.
Tumblr media
So I like the idea of Starboy, but not the story of him being the sole wishing star. He can be childish and curious under the circumstances that the Blue Fairy is highest power/wishing star. I mentioned this in my illustration of the Blue Fairy, so.
Anyways, ideas for Star!
Because I see a lot of people already have the idea of Asha x Starboy in their works (love them all 💖), I decided to think of more paths we could’ve taken with Star in general. You can refer back to the Art of Wish book for all of his forms, but I’ll go into ones that I’m renovating into my own ideas.
• Starchild: I have two ideas for this. A: What if Star was a child? When we were younger, we wished for many things and dreamed of many dreams. Maybe Star could’ve been a child, because of my idea with Star being a ‘child’ of the Blue Fairy, Asha calling down Star right then and there could’ve been the start of his new life. It’s like him being born when he’s sent down to Earth. And it’s a reference to how wishes and wonder can seem childish, but good-intentioned. His magic is almost chaotic-like, so it could add on. Then B: What if Star was a younger version of ASHA? Don’t really know how this would work, but really Star would’ve been a manifestation of Asha’s younger self (typically when she wished for her father to get better). It’s like connecting with your inner child and rekindling your dreams. That’s just a small idea.
• Platonic Star: Could be of any gender, I don’t really care. But what if Star was just platonically involved with Asha? I know Wish was never going to be a romance story, so they could’ve just of had Star be humanoid but have them still be friends. I’m sure someone already has this idea for a rewrite somewhere.
• Sole Star: An idea where Star *is* the wishing star but is mature and an adult and with no specific gender. Maybe a little feminine to act as Asha’s maternal figure? If I wouldn’t go with this idea, then I’d have had the Blue Fairy be Asha’s maternal figure. Sorry, Sakina (I should make a rant post about Sakina and Sabino 💀🙏🏽 I kinda got beef with them).
I’m okay with Star being the thing we got officially, but come on. They could’ve added more to the character. Like depth? Clarification about what exactly it is? A star sure, but what else? The one star song didn’t answer any of Asha’s questions nor ours. Was it just born when Asha wished upon it because she’s the first one to do so? Sighing. Disney.

QUEEN AMAYA HEAD CANONS & MY OWN FLIMSY SCRAPPED IDEAS (for funsies)
———————————
Tumblr media
I looked back in a google docs I made 4 months ago for a Wish rewrite I had and then suddenly stopped. I never released it and don’t really plan on making a rewrite anyways, because there’s plenty of those out there which is all great. I personally just don’t have the effort to do that and writing stories isn’t something I normally do (I can never decide what path to choose). But I found a nice little headcanon I have for the original beloved Queen Amaya.
Originally, in this document she was going to be evil. I found it odd that she’d just be bad for the sake of it and power, which was just very odd. So this backstory would serve as part of the reason why Amaya was evil, because I found no reason for her to be like that in the first place. To be clear, I prefer good Queen Amaya because we’ve had other evil queens, but an evil royal couple isn’t a bad idea. I love that, honestly. But in my opinion as of right now, I favor the good Amaya. Back then I was all over for evil Amaya, and still am, but cutie patootie (im sorry im so tired rn) good Amaya is on my favorites list. That’s not to discourage anyone, this is just me being neutral about things. Also, if you don’t care for the details about the unreleased rewrite and just wanna skip to the headcanon, scroll down to the 🌟 emoji.
Amaya was going to follow the classic fairytale princess trope of being locked away in a castle, simply because Disney was tryna bring back a lot of past references and I thought it’d be a nice contrast to my Asha, who was going to follow the trope of more modern princesses.
So Amaya was a maiden locked away in a castle within a faraway kingdom. Her parents ruled the kingdom and kept her there, and the place was isolated from the world because they refused to ally with kingdoms involving magic. They thought it was dangerous and were paranoid, and etc. Amaya wishes to flee from the island to experience more. Her parents say that she must wait for a knight-in-shining-armor to save her and keep her safe, and only then is she able to leave the kingdom. So Amaya waits for her true love and knight-in-shining-armor, but one never arrives. Her heart turns sour and resentful as time goes on. Years later a sorcerer named Magnifico, who is looking to study more magic but finding none, invades the island by himself (he was going to be downright evil in this unreleased rewrite, which I also have a backstory for that as well). After the island is destroyed, Magnifico suddenly finds Amaya in the locked-up castle. Magnifico, seeing how much she despised the people who she trusted to give her more, like himself (not justified on his own part), asks for her hand in marriage. Amaya gladly accepts his proposal. Like a twisted love at first sight, Amaya sees him as her true knight who wields magic rather than a sword. She finds that magic is much more powerful than a sword, even if her family rejected magic for all these years. Her hate for her parents and her destroyed kingdom helps Magnifico with his plans. They go back to Magnifico’s kingdom (is explained in his own little backstory) and they build Rosas from there. Amaya loves Magnifico with all her heart and praises him. She is so madly in-love with both him and his magical powers that she is willing to do anything to uphold his status. He’s the one with the magic and power, she’s the one with the will to do whatever it takes to uphold those things. Her undying loyalty.
Some more information I had for her was that she was going to be both the queen of Rosas AND the head general of the kingdom’s military forces (inspired by the one deleted scene). Honestly, I really like her as either good or evil. I’m not picky about it as long as it is written well.
At the end of the rewrite I was planning for her to either…
Plan A: This is the one where their relationship is completely healthy. They love each other with all the purity in the world. They’d be defeated alongside her husband (who is now trapped in the little mirror because I genuinely love the idea of an evil man obsessed with his looks being trapped in a mirror, just not the movie Magnifico) by the people of Rosas. In the ending scene, we would see an irritated Amaya watching the kingdom from afar. She finds the little mirror in the grass and picks it up. Queen Amaya escapes with the miniature mirror, because she loves her husband, and leaves the island to travel to another, possibly her old abandoned kingdom. Her old kingdom might’ve been rebuilt by other people, because I also liked the idea of an evil Queen Amaya being theorized to be the Evil Queen in the story of Snow White. Her loyal cat, Charo, would follow her off the island. I like dark-ish endings like that.
Or
Plan B: This is the one where their relationship isn’t completely healthy. It’s almost like a heavy dependency and a sacrifice of individuality. I don’t know. I just like giving characters sinister or angsty depths, haha. So Amaya would’ve been evil throughout the story, but come to realize that everything she’s been doing is simply for the benefit of Magnifico. She realizes that their relationship isn’t all that healthy as it seems, and that even if two people love each other very much, it doesn’t excuse the fact of negative dependence on the other person, especially if that other person makes it that way. Don’t know how I’d have done this, but at the end Amaya would’ve seen her mistakes and redeemed herself. Magnifico was always planned to be evil in my AUs and unreleased rewrites, but this could be for a different original story if I ever make it. But anyways, Amaya would’ve built her own character and individuality away from Magnifico and later become the sole ruler of Rosas. It would’ve had the concept of being ‘too attached to someone or something to the point where it’s not good for you’ and making Amaya question whether to continue that habit or letting it go. The movie, however, wasn’t toxic at all and I support Magnifico’s and Amaya’s relationship in the original film.
Again, these are like rough drafts so they’re not perfect and I’m sure you can find plot holes in them. These are all just concepts and ideas I made myself in my free time. Because creativity. 🤷🏽‍♀️
So what about your headcanons for the original Queen Amaya, because these are all for your evil Queen Amaya?
🌟
Well, for funsies, I do headcanon that Amaya was a locked away princess or maiden in some nameless castle and was rescued by Magnifico. He was just a humble, curious man who traveled to the nameless kingdom in search to study more magic and spotted the castle no one dared to go near because a dragon or something was guarding it. Not knowing that anyone was in the castle and thought that people were being terrorized by the dragon, Magnifico is like “Gosh, let me save this kingdom real quick and I’ll get back to my magical studies 👍🏽.” Magnifico compromises with the dragon (doesn’t slay it) and it leaves. Magnifico, thinking there could be magic books and artifacts in the castle, searches through it and suddenly finds Amaya. They fall in love and he helps Amaya leave the nameless kingdom to start a new life together. They share their dreams and later found Rosas together. Simple as that! Sweet and beautiful. I like sappy endings too.
OH, and I just thought of this as I’m writing this post to follow up with more of that classic Disney princess stuff. Maybe Amaya can naturally understand animals, like Cinderella or Snow White. I know she was surprised in that one scene where the mouse was talking to her, but like it spoke a human language. You know how the animals in Snow White just chirp and squeak? Well, what if Amaya just understood them, but never heard them legitimately speak? What if she was just surprised in the moment that the mouse spoke plain words to her? Like an “Oh I didn’t expect that, but go on. I’m listening as always 🥰”. Then there could be cute scenarios where Amaya is singing with the birds or little critters hold up a small mirror for her to readjust her hair or whatever.
Might release more sections of the never to be finished rewrite draft. It’s really just paragraphs of what each character is like, their backstories, how the kingdom functions, what wishes are, and etc. There’s no script, just ideas. 💖 Okay, good night.
