one thing that I have loved about this weekend is that the hermits have been able to study each other like ants. They've got to be fans of each other. They've bounced around and played on each other's weird setups. They've come to play with Joepacity in person (False tried to make her own Jhost name, and came back this morning to see what today's jumper would do). They've been able to bother each other in person. Scar's been able to run his friends over. Grian's been able to manage to his heart's content. It's been lovely.

do you count as a winner when you only realise that you are the winner when you find yourself standing in a world bereft of life, staring at the zombie that just killed your final friend?
does it count as winning when you stand laughing with your friend, watching the zombie that will kill him walk ever closer whilst you say nothing?
does it count as winning when your victory is your own timelessness in the endless march of death?
if you stand apart from the ticking clock of doom, there is no way to die in real life. if you begin as dead, then death will pass you by. the only things guaranteed in life are death and taxes, and well, real life had them both, only the taxes were joking and the death was quieter than you'd imagine, slipping unnoticed through unseen chats.
Cleo won, with the shambling walk of a zombie pacing through the fields of death. Cleo won, in a world silent, the others gone to deaths I couldn't conjure, can't recall. One moment they were there, and the next gone, all gone.

How long does that potion last?
Hi! Here's a guide I wrote for how long Minecraft potions last in approximation with real time. This is for Java edition only, and hopefully will be useful in stuff like fanfiction.
For reference, a full Minecraft day is 20 minutes in-game. That's 10 minutes of daytime, 3 minutes of dawn/dusk, and 7 minutes of night. I will be equating 10 minutes of daytime = 12 hours of a real-life day. I'm calculating this via comparing percentages, so let me know if I have messed up the math. Potion times are from the wiki and instant potions such as healing or harming are left out for obvious reasons.

20-22 second potions: Potion of Slowness IV; Potion of the Turtle Master I and II; Potion of Poison II; Potion of Regeneration II
Lasts approximately 0.396 hours real-time, or 23 minutes and 46 seconds (for 20 seconds potion length)
40-45 second potions: Potion of Poison; Potion of the Turtle Master +; Potion of Regeneration
Lasts approximately 0.9 hours real-time, or 54 minutes (for 45 seconds potion length)
1.5 minute potions: Potion of Regeneration +; Potion of Swiftness II; Potion of Strength II; Potion of Leaping II; Potion of Slow Falling; Potion of Poison +; Potion of Weakness; Potion of Slowness
Lasts 1.8 hours real-time, or 1 hour and 48 minutes
3 minute potions: Potion of Swiftness; Potion of Fire Resistance; Potion of Night Vision; Potion of Strength; Potion of Leaping; Potion of Water Breathing; Potion of Invisibility
Lasts 3.6 hours real-time, or 3 hours and 36 minutes.
4 minute potions: Potion of Slow Falling +; Potion of Weakness +; Potion of Slowness +
Lasts 4.8 hours real-time, or 4 hours and 48 minutes.
5 minute potions: Potion of Luck
Lasts 6 hours real-time.
8 minute potions: Potion of Swiftness +; Potion of Fire Resistance +; Potion of Night Vision +; Potion of Strength +; Potion of Leaping +; Potion of Water Breathing +; Potion of Invisibility +
Lasts 9.6 hours real-time, or 9 hours and 36 minutes.
Tipped arrows, according to the wiki, last 1/8th the time of their corresponding potion if applicable. Since that might vary, I'm not going to calculate them all here.

My chronic pain doctor suggested I exercise more
I asked him “how?”
He looked confused. Said I should try a bit every day
I said “not when, how?” I asked what exercises I should do
He suggested half a dozen options that had all been explicitly banned by other doctors. I’m not allowed to run. I’m not allowed to bike. I’m not allowed to use my rowing machine or my punching bag.
I walk my dog whenever I have the energy and when it doesn’t hurt too much
What else can I do?
He told me I should exercise more
And then he changed the subject.

I feel like I’ve heard the headcanon that all mcyt’s irl partners are some sort of god? (I feel this may have been in dsmp times?? Though I have definitely heard at least someone talk about it in the qsmp sense ((which I don’t watch so I wouldn’t know)) However this is very funny when implemented in hermitcraft considering the amount of them who have partners, not only in their life but are somehow ‘canon’ to hermitcraft (canon as in they’ve been mentioned or talked about within hermitcraft before ) Ferks, Mrs T, Dot(dot dash) …or even talks to a lot on some form of media (twitch, twitter, etc) CamronJK, Karn , Lauryn (badgerspanner)… there’s just all these gods who’ve stuck around for their little guy :3

Zookeeper Scar who can communicate with animals; he understands them and they understand him.
Except no one else has figured this out yet. It’s not like Scar is trying to hide it, he talks out loud to animals all the time, and has full conversations in plain view of everyone. He’s even flat out told Grian that his horse thinks he smells like fish. It’s not that he tries to hide this ability, it’s just that everyone who sees it happening assumes it’s just Scar being Scar. They think it’s just another bit.
Until Scar mentions something embarrassing that he absolutely could not know unless someone who was there told him about it, and Bdubs knows for a fact that only his horse had been there when he’d fallen off his own base and died on impact.

all of the hermitgals are physically strong but in different ways / it shows differently.
cleo’s solid in the way heavylifters are. she may not have visible abs but they pack a serious punch, and is much faster than you’d expect them to be.
false is the most obviously muscled, with strong shoulders and visible biceps. a bit of an all-rounder, she’s got the strength and endurance to carry heavy shulker boxes up and down staircases without getting winded and the self-awareness that makes her completely in tune with her own body and the weapon in her hands.
pearl is tall and lean, built like a fencer. though not to the same degree as false, she has the most visible muscle in her arms and core. she has amazing muscle control and coordination, and is someone who is capable of long days of building and makes a formidable sparring partner.
stress generally has softer shapes to her, but beneath it is pure strength. can and will pick up her friends and carry them around at random, despite most of them being taller than her.
gem’s like the girl in your gym class that looks slight but can run the track without breaking a sweat. bulked up around the shoulders from her slaying. she’s more brute force focused than false or pearl, but her stamina and strength is nothing to laugh at.
