To celebrate the Fanfiction Writers Appreciation Day on August 21st, and following this post, hereâs what you can do to show your favorite fanfiction writers how grateful you are for their work!
Whether you are just a reader or a writer as well, on August 21st:
Go on AO3, FF.net, Wattpad or any other fanfiction website, even Tumblr, and leave comments on your favorite fics. It doesnât matter if youâve already reviewed them, just do it again. It doesnât even have to be a long comment, just show your appreciation. Tell the writers how much you love their fics. Let them know what they mean to you.
Since youâre there, give kudos, favorite their fics, vote, like them.
Send your favorite writers an encouraging message. Tell them how much you love their work. Tell them which of their fics is your favorite and why. Tell them why theyâre important to you.
Make a post recommending some of your favorite fics to your followers so that they have a chance to read them as well and share them with others. Spread the word.
Make this a very special day for your favorite writers, but remember to nurture them often. They spend countless hours working on plots, developing characters and creating worlds that wouldnât exist if it werenât for them. And they do it for free, of their own accord and frequently during their free time. It takes hard work and commitment and love for what theyâre doing. And they do it for them just as much as they do it for you, so appreciate it.
They give you infinite ways in which your favorite characters find love, go on adventures and get to experience different lives, new challenges. They give you unimaginable versions of your favorite stories that youâll just never get to see in the official storyline. They give you the opportunity to fall in love with your favorite characters all over again. Be grateful for that and donât be afraid to express it.
Show your favorite writers how much you appreciate them and you might just make their day. And a writer who knows that their work is loved is a happy writer. Never forget that. Always share your love :)

I was wondering if you could write more Bloodlust UA maybe the train fight with Scar or that last fight with Alphonse or if there's a thing that you wanna do with this idea
@envyincarnation
So this took much longer than it ought to have, Iâm so sorry. But I sat down and managed to write this. I have no beta reader or anything so anything the spell checker didnât catch is my fault, sorry. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it!
A Winterâs HuntÂ
(Part 3 of the Bloodlust UA)
Kimblee looked at the long metal pipe lodged in his appendix. The wound was already throbbing, trying to heal itself around the pipe. Reaching down, he grasped it and began to pull. The wound squelched and sputtered. Grunting, he pulled out the last few inches. Soon his flesh was pulling itself back together and the only trace left from Scarâs attack was the brand-new hole in his suit.
And the fact that the entire back of the train had been destroyed, but Kimblee decided that wasnât his problem. Dusting off his hat, he jumped off the now still train and began wading into the snow covered forest. It wasnât long until he picked up Scarâs scent, traveling deeper into the forest. Leaving the wreckage behind, he began following the trail.
Scar had lost track of his time since he had fought Kimblee on the train. He didnât know if Yoki was still alive, and he didnât care. Knowing that bastard, he probably isnât. He knew he had to keep moving, no matter what. Snow had started to stick to him, nestling in his clothes and resting on his hair. Scar traced the tattoo on his left arm, a habit he had developed, and noticed that he was shaking violently. His breath hung in the air in front of his face. Thereâs no way I can survive the night out here. I have to find shelter before I freeze out here. He vaguely remembers hearing somewhere that you make shelters out of the snow, but he had no expertise with snow. Suddenly, he heard a noise behind him. Scar glanced quickly behind him, then kept moving. The more distance he could put between himself and his pursuer, the better.
It was inevitable that Kimblee would catch up with him. Scar had heard him behind him for a while. Scar couldnât figure out why Kimblee hadnât just demolished the entire forest. Perhaps he has orders to keep me alive. Or maybe he just enjoys hunting down ishvalans. Either way, Kimblee was approaching him on foot. When he finally did, it was by the bank of a river.
The water had been frozen over, moonlight illuminating both sides of the river. They were at narrow bend, and occasionally large rocks peaked out of the ice. The trees sat like guardians. The snow crunched softly underfoot as Scar picked his way down the steep bank. Overhead, the sky was clear. It had stopped snowing and the sky was sprayed with stars.
Scar heard a noise behind him that gradually grew louder. He turned and looked up to see Kimblee standing on the edge of the bank. He had gained weight since he had become a homunculi. His suit was stained red with his blood, though he was moving unhibited. His white fedora sat perched on top of his head, and his tattered coat hung limply at his sides. Still though, Kimblee tipped his hat to Scar and smirked.
âItâs a bit chilly out tonight for a walk, Scar.â Straightforward and formal, with a toxic undertone. Â Scar hated his voice.
âWhy are you here, Kimblee. Why have you left me alive so long?â Scar was slowly trying to edge his way out onto the ice of the river.
âIâm sorry to say that my masterâs wish to have you alive. It seems you might know a little something that could be⌠problematic for them. However, if I had my way,â Kimblee was beginning to close the distance between them now. âyou would have been dead a long time ago. However, I will give you credit. You got me on the train back there.â
Suddenly, Kimblee lunged towards him, palms at the ready. There was a large flash of alchemy, an explosion, and the eerie choir of ice as it broke. The middle of the riverbed exploded, water flying into  the air. Ice spun and snow was thrown into the air as the quiet winter night was shattered by the river bursting once more into life.
Scar was rushed along through the water, trying to cling onto his life. He had been ready for Kimblee and had plunged himself through the water mere seconds before kimbleeâs outreaching palms had reached him. The dark water swirled around him, and suddenly he had sunk into unconsciousness.
Kimble seethed with hatred as he was rushed blindly along by the river. Damn you, Scar! Damn you and your filthy brotherâs research! Suddenly, his chest exploded into a fireworks display of blood, flesh and bone. Pain overtook his senses as he instinctively looked down to see that the river had pushed him against a large rock that had impaled him. He clasped his hands together and broke through the rock and ice above him in one explosion. He kicked hard and suddenly he was above the surface. Luckily, he was close to one side of the river and he feebly pulled himself out.
With the last bits of his strength, Kimblee rolled over onto his back and then pulled the last chunk of rock out of his chest. Closing his eyes, he tried to focus on the soothing lullaby of the hundreds of tortured souls screaming in his head, but they were oddly reduced to a whisper. His chest gurgled as the alchemy did its work fixing the cavity in his chest. When he opened his eyes again, he tried to take stock of his situation.
He couldnât smell Scar. He couldnât smell anything over the smell of his own blood. He had lost his hat and his other clothes were now ruined. He had no idea where he was. And worst of all, he was starting to get hungry. Kimbleeâs cravings were what caused him to finally stand up and start walking slowly through the forest.
In the distance, he noticed a small cabin, perhaps a small military station. The light was on. He could feel his stomach gurgling as he caught the scent of people inside. Well, at least one of my problems will be solved.

hi it's me again, I've been thinking about that kimblee gluttony AU and i was wondering if you could write a bit which takes place in briggs like when he has that talk with ed?
A/N: So sorry this took so long. I finally got it done, I hope itâs satisfactory!
Blood in the SnowÂ
(Part of the Bloodlust UA.)
The door shut softly behind Edward as he entered the small room. Kimblee was already sitting at the single table. Two mugs of coffee were sitting on the table. Otherwise, the room was empty. Glancing behind him, and out the window in the door, he saw one of Kimbleeâs bodyguards stand in front of the door. Great. Iâm trapped in here with this maniac. Reluctantly, Ed took the other chair. Something about this guy gives me the creeps.
âHello, Edward.â Kimblee sat there, appearing to be smiling politely at Edward, but everything about it was false.
âCut the pleasantries, Kimblee, what do you want?â He growled out.
âThere are three things. One, you will assist with our search for Scar. You will help me search for him, and if you should happen to find him, you will notify me. Two, you will also help with the search for Dr. Marco. He was last seen to be traveling with Scar, in this area. If you find him, you are to let me know immediately. Lastly, you are going to help me carve a bloody crest into the fortress of Briggs.â There was a moment of tense silence, as Edward watched the steam from his untouched coffee, processing what Kimblee had said.
âCarve a bloody crest into Briggs?â He said slowly, frowning.
âYes. You and I will use our alchemy to carve a blood crest into Briggs, with our own hands.â
âI have no idea what you are trying to say.â Edward felt unsettled, a bad feeling settling in his stomach. âWhat exactly do you mean?â
âI mean we do to this place what the other alchemists did in Ishval.â Kimblee was grinning ferally at him now. He held his tattooed palms up, like he was going to clap them together, just so he could get his meaning across. âWe will carve this land into a symbol of sorrow and hatred. It will be easy, after it is done we can simply blame the massacre on Drachma.â
âWhat the hell? I canât do something like that! Absolutely not!â Edward sprang forward at Kimblee, golden eyes blazing with hatred. He slammed his fists on the table hard, sending the two coffee cups reiling, spilling their contents. âHow dare you ask me such a thing!â
Kimblee calmly watched Edwardâs outburst. It was to be expected, but he knew that Fullmetal had no choice. The faint sounds of Winry talking with the guard outside filtered in, and Kimblee smirked as Edward took notice. Gritting his teeth, he sat back down heavily, glaring at Kimblee.
âVery clever, Kimblee, negotiating while waving your hostage right in front of me.â
âUh-oh, someone needs to pay more attention. I havenât said a word about taking Miss Winry hostage.â He now had a neutral expression on his face as he watched Edward. I admire your will, but this will not play out in your favor, Fullmetal. Kimblee smirked. âDonât give me any ideas, though. And as well, we are not negotiating. These are orders. You are now being called to fulfill your duties as a state alchemist.â His eyes narrowed as he continued to study Edward. âDonât tell me you became one of the military dogs, yet donât have the nerve to kill?â
âIâve got the resolve not to kill!â Edward snapped back. By now, he was leaning far over the table, staring straight into Kimbleeâs eyes.
âThe resolve not to kill? And a strong will as wellâŚâ Kimblee muttered to himself, hand moving to his chin as he thought. This might be a bit more difficult than I predicted. He frowned.
âLook, mister Kimblee, doesnât this seem wrong to you? That the government is going to slaughter countless civilians just to achieve some goal? You do know what theyâre ordering you to do, right?â
âYes, I do know.â
âThen why continue with this idio-â
âBecause I wish to see what the new world will look like.â
âWh-what?â
âI want to see who will win this battle of resolve vs. resolve, will vs. will. Humans versus their so called evolutions, the homunculus. Which side will the world choose to let survive? Fort Briggs lives by the motto âSurvival of the fittestâ. Simple, but it is the truth.â Kimblee crossed his hands in front of his face, watching Edward carefully. He could smell the stench of blood from his latest meal on them, as well as the underlying scent of fear within the room. It was a cautious fear, certainly, but fear nonetheless.
âEverything on this planet is the result of evolution, one species decimating another until only the strongest remain. Species decimated by humans, Ishvalans decimated by Amestrians, itâs all the same. If the homunculi kill the humans, than that would simply mean that humans were not fit for survival on this planet. Thatâs all there is to it.â
Edward had sat back on his chair, arms crossed. âBut youâre a human. Whyâre you siding with the homunculus? Unless⌠Youâre a homunculi as well.â
The tension in the room doubled. Quietly, Kimblee took another sip of his coffee. He watched as Edwardâs eyes widened, then narrowed dangerously. His golden eyes were accusing slits as he studied Kimblee again.
âYour intuition is admirable.â He grinned widely, showing off the ouroboros tattoo on his tongue.
âSo, youâre Gluttony then.â
âYes, thatâs what they seem to be calling me now, though I still prefer Kimblee. Although, I was human once. It seemed they needed a replacement, after you and your friends from Xing nearly killed him.â
âI know. Iâve heard stories about you, you know. But still- why side with the homunculi?â
âIt was a simple decision, really.â He shrugged. âThey are willing to let me use my alchemy to itâs fullest potential. And this new body is a much better improvement. Do you know what itâs like to have a philosopher'sâ stone as a part of you?â Edward stared at him.
âYouâre sick. Iâm surprised you passed the military psychology tests.â
âItâs not the first time Iâve heard that. As for the tests, itâs easy to pass as long as you know how youâre supposed to act. And itâs not like they care too much. I am fully aware that I do not particularly think in the ârightâ way. However, this world has let me survive. Few people get to live that life, fighting every day for their right to an existence. For a couple thousand souls inside me- they failed that fight. They now live a tortured afterlife.â Kimblee leaned back in his chair.
âIâve found that state alchemists tend to place themselves in the center of their own universe.â Reaching into his coat, he pulled out a red stone, then set it on the table.
âThe- the philosopherâs stone!â
âThis is the thing you brothers want more than anything else in the world, no? Complete the three orders, and this is yours.â Now it was just a matter of waiting. This was his trump card, if this didnât work than he would be forced to use Winry. There was a long moment of tense silence. From somewhere else in the fort, Kimblee smelled blood, most likely from a small injury of some sort. He shifted in his chair. Finally, Edward set his hands heavily on the table.
âLet me talk to Alphonse and Winry first, then Iâll make my decision.â
âVery well, but I will be accompanying you, to make sure you do not say anything unnecessary.â As they both stood up to exit the room, Kimblee smirked. Youâre in this fight for survival now, Fullmetal, whether you like it or not.

Literally why I chose this url.
Bradley just handing Ed a fucking watermelon, and Sig and Armstrong flexing at each other in greeting are the two greatest things that ever happened in FMA.
Thereâs something important to add to this:
Bradley just fucking hands Ed a watermelon
TWICE
THE HALF-HUMAN HOMUNCULUS LEADER OF AMESTRIS RUTHLESS WARMONGERER PERPETRATOR OF GENOCIDE âWHERE IS YOUR GOD? WHY DOES HE NOT STRIKE ME DOWN HIMSELF?â DEFEATER-OF-A-TANK IN ONE ON ONE COMBAT FUHRER KING BRADLEY SAT DOWN AND THOUGHT âhmm, how do I seem human and likable to this small child? I want to win his trust and fend off suspicion so he remains compliant until the Promised Day. âŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ.Iâll get him a fucking watermelon.â
And he was put in the same position AGAIN
And this time around he thought:
ââŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ.The watermelon worked last time letâs do that again.â

Sorry for the delay everyone.
Itâs been a tough week, hit me really hard when I heard the news about Alan Rickman, and Iâve been really busy with school work. I havenât even found time/energy to continue what Iâve started for the request. I do have a longer weekend coming up though, so weâll see what the situation is then.
Have a good evening!

This blog will, from now on, be using this term.
i think there should be AUâs and then there should be UAâs
because Universe Alterations would be a good name for when your characters are in the exact same universe but youâre altering just a couple of plot points or a few character traits

writing fanfic like âam i getting the dynamics of this friendship right?â âwould this character actually say this?â âwhat is the proper ratio of kindness to sass?â âam i falling prey to overused fanfic personality shortcuts or is this a canon trait?â âam i overthinking this so much that i will grind to a standstill out of sheer terror?â

Seriously. If anyone ever wants to come talk to me about my work for any reason (Besides being pointlessly rude.) Iâm all ears!
but like who started the idea that fanfiction writers are somehow bothered by enthusiasm for their work???? cause i see posts all the time like âdo writers really want to talk with us about their fics? Do writers really want long comments? I dont want to bother themâ and i just think its absolutely ridiculous????
ofc i want to talk to you about it, and would love to hear you go on about it. i took time out of my real life to write this stuff down so we could all share these characters!!! the idea that youâre bothering a fanfiction writer, a fellow nerd, is absolutely crazy
