Love Seafarers. 10/10 concept, wish more people would explore it.
AHHHHH every time I get asks like these I giggle and kick my feet hehe... thank you so much! I'm glad peeps are enjoying Seafarers just as much as I am. It is a concept I'm surprised no one has tackled before -- to my knowledge at least... I've seen many AUs tied to Thin Dad, how it would have gone differently if he and the kids teamed up during the final battle, but never something similar tied to the Lady. Honestly it doesn't surprise me all that much. Thin Man is easier to empathize with, I suppose.
Back when it was just LN I the general belief had people believe Six and the Lady were already related anyway, rendering a "Lady Mom AU" sort of the default. There was no need to explore what it'd be like if the Lady survived, and if she and Six were forced to live side by side: it was already assumed that they had. Plus, people were never super interested in delving into the Lady anyway. (Banging my head against the wall so loud you can hear it through the post) However, me being me, I always thought she was an interesting enough character to make for a protagonist. An incredibly unlikeable one, obviously, but I've seen peeps say her inner monologues are fun to read because of how awful she is, so I guess introducing her POV before Six's was the right decision after all?
Truth be told, I think this kind of story would not work if it was soley from Six's point of view - or soley from the Lady's. You need both. The few fics I've read where the two interact are usually from Six's pov, which I like, so I tried considering it but when I was planning for Seafarers it just didn't hit the same without the Lady. Likewise, I considered leaving the POV soley on the Lady (as you could see in the first chapters where I was experimenting with it), and while I was satisfied with what she had going on, her inability to put herself in Six's shoes was a serious drawback. I think reading their back and forth is a lot more entrataining than just sticking to one of them permanently.
Writing them is fun because they are similar, but different enough that they can never see eye to eye (LMFAOOOOO). They're both prideful and spiteful, they both would rather do things by themselves as lone wolves, and they both will not concede to the other no matter what. I love them, personally.
I'm SUPER excited to start introducing... the others.

must a fictional relationship be “healthy” or “functional”? is it not enough to simply watch two made up people destroy each other, hand in unlovable hand???

Because they spend more time worrying if they will be perceived well than fucking writing them.
how does a show released in 2024 fail harder in showcasing fully rounded female characters with flaws and strengths and rich personalities than a cartoon from the 2000s. why has television & film legitimately regressed across the years when it comes to showing women as human beings lmao

I rarely ship at all and am usually super adverse to shipping people who’ve never even had a conversation. But goddamn these two would WORK!
Y’all know that moment when an OTP totally catches you by surprise?
Like it’s just two characters you’d never think would ever get it on and they just have this scene and something clicks, character a looks at character b differently and you’re just like “wait- hold on… wait wa-WAIT! WAIT!!“ and it just dawns on you that you’re shipping it and you can just feel yourself slowly turn into trash. All you know now is your life is going to be ruined by these two but you’ll love it anyway…
any of you feel that?

Deltarune is a game about Undertale (AKA Noelle is Chara?)
Kris is someone outside the player’s control. It’s a bit unclear who they were or why they’re doing what they do without us— like why the dark fountain?— but that much should be obvious. But one thing that never got as much attention is that Frisk is also someone outside the player’s control. Asriel says so twice, most noticeably the second time:
Tumblr media
Just like Kris, Frisk often gets mistaken as a “blank slate” on account of their non-binary identity and bland, faceless appearance. But clearly this is not the case. Kris’s character elaborates on this by establishing aspects of Kris’s personality through dialogue and showing how they directly contradict how they are acting now. Such as the piano.
Kris also makes some commentary on a different character, Chara. Chara is always the creepy kid of the fandom, and canon seems to support this— after all, she/he/they did make fun of Asriel, accidentally poison asgore, and hatched that wack suicide plan. Kris seems to be following in Chara’s footsteps as the “creepy kid.” But Kris as they are actually takes on a more innocent role— their pranks are childish and harmless. Noelle still remembers her memories with Kris fondly. I don’t know if this is a commentary on Chara— maybe— but it is for sure their to subvert our expectations in some way.
Deltarune has some things to say about other characters too. Toriel and Asgore, for example, were probably doomed to failed murder or not. She’s too strict for his softness. As Undertale implies and deltarune seems to reaffirm, Asgore never killed the children because he thought it was the right (yet harsh) thing to do. He did it because he couldn’t tell his citizens no.
Likewise, the dark world always seems to have something to say about the world above it. Noelle and the Queen is a stand in for the girl’s overbearing mother, and it’s possible if not likely the same goes for Susie and the Spade King. Her radical transformation after the first chapter could easily be a as a result of the dark world helping her cope with the past / current abuse. Spamton is there for Kris: a puppet controlled by strings. Possibly as a result of a deal for Spamton… which would likewise imply some interesting things about Kris.
Finally, we have the snowgrave route. Does this have something to say about Undertale?
On a metaphorical level, Undertale’s genocide route asks the player to consider the consequences of winning for no reason. This is the same dilemma Noelle goes through.
Tumblr media
It’s good to get stronger. No matter what, hm?
But what’s interesting about snowgrave is Noelle is the one physically doing it but she’s not the one pulling the strings. Someone else is telling her to do it, in this case Kris. Who’s in turn being told what to do by the player… that’s like, meta^2.
So what character in Undertale is not directly being controlled by the player but is still, somewhat, being controlled by the player? Being influenced by the player until they have convinced themselves the player is right?

Alternative Answers to College Essays, Pt. 1
-
One special attribute I possess is my ability to tell the future. My friends have described me as a magic eight ball– they predict that when the embalmer drains my blood upon my death, he will tip me over and find that I am literally blue blooded. They are only partially right. In fact, my ability extends far beyond just a one eight chance in a little black ball. Indeed, I posses an uncanny power to see not only the future but the past that led to it, enabling me to fix my mistakes before they ever occur. I will not only “hope” to meet your expectations. I will meet your expectations because it is foretold.
On a practical level my ability will bring a great deal of benefits to you. For starters you will never make an incorrect decision call because I will be there to ruminate over the consequences of your actions; you will never feel regret for them at all because I will warn you before you make them. Soon your job will be very easy. You will come to me, in between classes at your school in my first term that I know I will earn, with a new proposal, a new plan; I will absorb it all within me like a giant blue sponge and out will pour the answers that you seek. More than often your ideas will be terrible. But that is okay: I will tell you who is fated to succeed and who will drown in a prison of their own incompetency.
As a result of my gift from god almighty you won’t need half as many staff members as you do. They will all be replaced by me. I will literally save you billions, and in the world of politics, that is the equivalent of half as many lives and twice as many favors. Soon you will rule the world. And I will be there, in the background, a graduate now; I will be old, my lips speaking frail words, my mind beginning to slip, and although when I speak my prophecies, the earth will quake beneath our feet, you will fear my death. Now, standing on top of the world, you will be in my debt. But all the debt in the world won’t fix my mortality, and I’ll pass away leaving a canyon in my shape; a lonely ditch where power came to be. You’ll wish you never met me. But be honest– even knowing this, you still want me anyway.

I was watching Avatar on blue ray and I asked myself: is Jake a bad dad?
And in my honest opinion the answer is no. He’s not really a bad dad at all. He says some mildly harsh things sometimes, but he never yells or looses his temper, and to be absolutely fair to him, his sons are being unreasonable sometimes. Neteyam and Lo’ak are 15 and 14 ish— of course he doesn’t want them involved.
I’ve seen parents real life who were way more harsh and trigger happy than him that nobody would consider “bad parents.” I think the real reason we see Jake as a bad dad is because the movie frames him to be one, but it’s too scared to give him significant flaws, so that’s all it ends up doing. Not to mention the movie takes Loak’s side, who is supposed to play the role of the outcast, but in reality, isn’t much of one, especially when compared to the more obvious choice of Kiri.
Honestly, Loak’s entire inclusion in this movie is a mystery to me. They probably should have made Loak and Kiri the same character which would have had 100% more effect on the final plot and emotional core.

it didn’t come off wrong to anyone but nitpickers. if you don’t want to fight, don’t accuse someone friendly to the community (is he even straight?) of posting homophobic things for no real good reason. It’s so toxic.
MorningMark Needs to take a break.
Listen, I've been and probably many others this too.
@moringmark needs to take a break. Atleast from The Owl House if not from comic's for his own mental health.
It cna be seen in the quality of his comics, mainly in writing.
Yes, there's the nonsense fluff, the romance, the comedy. The now post-finale adult stuff with kids.
But I want to talk about some stuff that I think could be harmful and a mockery to the LGBTQIA+ community.
NOTE: I do NOT think Mark did these intentionally. I think it is both being uniformed, burnt out out, and jsut trying to pump out comics fast to satisfy the fanbase, so he doesn't have much tiem research.
Either way, onto the first topic/comic I will speak of.
While it is sweet that Mark shows support in Pride month, he did it while basically not only comparing the struggles of the LGBT community to that of 'fighting a cartoon villian' , and that comparing our fight to that of TOH, is as if all we have to do is 'fight an evil guy' to win.
Which is false, and a bad dangerous mindset. As that is the mindset thsoe against us want.
As, if we kill one of the bigots, there will still be other bigots out htere.
It's best to just try to help them understand.
As they aren't doing this "for the sake of being evil" . it's because they are afraid of what don't understand, and are stuck in their old ways are thus a bit stubborn to try to understand.
But there ARE people who are willing to listen.
Not to mention, comparing our struggles to that of defeating a fictional cartoon villian is pure mockery. I'm sorry. The amount of people that die, and get beaten daily and get disowned jsut because they love the opposite gender, or they where born different ect. It's awful. And to compare that to that of defeating a cartoon is jsut infuriating.
Then there's the second topic/comic I want to talk about.
The whole idea that someone could figure out their sexuality/gender from a test especially a 'yes or no' test is just false.
It is a very bad thing to say especially with a following that has a ton of kids and young teens.
You figure your Identity out yourself through research, looking at yourself, looking at past events ect. And sometimes you dont fit right withing a perfect box, because sexualities and genders are very complex!
Only YOU can figure yourself out.
Not a test, not a quiz, no one but YOU.
As I said before, I'm not accusing Mark of anything. I simply think Mark should take a break as I can tell looking at his work from around a year ago that he seems burnt out. I mean Mark, you're cracking out comics EVERY DAY. Take a break.
And please next time ask someone (multiple people if you can) or do your one research before doing stuff on the LGBTQIA+ community. It's far better than going in blind assuming things are true or alright.
You're one of the most impactful member of the community right now, so please be careful.
Take care.

omg how dare I, a lesbian, call it the lgbt fandom. Is it possible I meant people who are gay and in fandom? No. That would be too reasonable.
And my man. My lady. My person. Whoever you are— that comic in no way implied that there was a boogie man homophobe that the gang needs to defeat to end homophobia. It actually says the opposite: that the real battle is in the real world, fighting bigotry. I now crown you boss of reading miscomprehension, you deserve it.
And misinformation? I’m sorry but if you think that the average tumblr user is so stupid that they would take that as a sign that being gay is a test you can answer than actually— maybe they are that stupid, actually.
Why must you “critical” people come into every lgbt friendly fandom (since apparently lgbt fandom is too offensive now??) and start the infighting? Are you looking to be offended?

You are misreading the first comic quite frankly, and the second is just a lighthearted joke. I wish you’d put a fraction of the effort you put into cannibalizing the LGBT fandom into actually fighting homophobia.
But this is tumblr. Criticizing other gay people is all we ever do, isn’t it?
