“The murals were a unique challenge and took a really long time to paint,” Marvel’s Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding says. “They’re printed enormous, and I’ve never painted anything that was meant to be printed so large. The one with all the Howling Commandos was printed about 25 feet tall and 60 feet wide, and had all the mannequins in costumes in front of it. The exhibit was real — they built it in a museum in Cleveland.“ 

Meinerding says the murals also have a strong emotional presence: “The scene is also an introduction to Bucky. In painting the murals, I was trying to get as many moments between Cap and Bucky as possible. So you’ll see Cap running with Bucky next to him or laughing with Bucky to reinforce the relationship they had.”

Hey sorry but I think you’re missing the point of people just saying “I can’t afford this and that sucks” full stop. That’s not hating on them, it’s just feeling disappointed. Of course art shouldn’t be for free, and personally I don’t blame them for wanting to move and grow. But it’s a bummer if you can’t afford it. Sorry if this bugs you even further but I wanted to say this!! Hope you have a good evening ❤️

It is a bummer, and if I couldn't afford it, I would also be bummed!

But people are not just saying they can't afford it and that sucks.

They are leveling accusations at Steven, at Ryan, at the company as a whole, that are just patently not true and frankly, in the case of the vitriol directed at Steven and Ryan, actively fucking racist.

People are accusing Watcher of selling out, accusing them of being greedy and selfish and alienating their audience on purpose as if that is a choice a business that wants to keep running makes on purpose.

People are upset and I get it. But people have also gotta realise that "damn i can't afford this now that sucks" =/= "the entire company should be burned to the ground".

The reactions today have been wildly outsized to the actual issue at hand and to be honest, I think a lot of people who are big mad don't actually like Watcher all that much, based on the things they're saying.

Hi Nony,

I don’t know the full story as Roe87 and I were only on the periphery of each others circles and didn’t directly interact much. All of the information I have is hearsay, but from what I understand they initially pulled a couple of fics to be reworked as original works to be published. Not long after that, they announced they were taking a break from fandom, and a couple of months after that, they deleted their works and orphaned their gift fics.

I’ve not heard or seen anything that says they were forced out of fandom, nor have I seen anything from my own experiences in fandom that would suggest that’s what has happened.

There were several of Roe87’s fics that I quite enjoyed, and there were some that weren’t my cup of tea, but whichever way you float it, losing an author who had 100+ works is a huge shock to the fandom.

I do know there are several fan events in the pipeline, and there is a big push for this year to be the year that we reignite the Stucky fandom - I’ve also seen a few fandom olds come back by way of leaving kudos and comments on new work - so who knows, maybe they’ll come back one day 🤷‍♀️
