Valentines day (Donna Troy x reader)
Warnings: none really...
Genre: not sure lol. Has a rejection but things end up ok.
Inspiration: Well its almost valentines day so it would only make sense to write a sad(ish) rejection story ;)
A/n: a friend of mine said that I might get more interest if I wrote for characters other than Gar Logan so I took their advice... kind of... anyways, enjoy!
"Ah! here she comes!" You practically squeaked as you heard Donna coming down the hallway. Your hair was a frizzy mess, you didn't want anyone to see you like this, especially not Donna. Your heart sped up as her footsteps neared. You did your best to tame the wild mess of hair with a hairbrush but you couldn't fix it fast enough.
"Y/n? Oh-" Donna said as she saw you. You shrivelled up with embarrassment on the inside. You were certain you looked like a maniac, wild hair with the hairbrush literally stuck in it.
"Do you need some help there?" Donna asked, teasing a giggle.
"Oh uhm, yes please" you replied. Donna smiled as she stepped closer to you, detangling the hairbrush from your hair and dragging it slowly and gently through your hair. You could feel the heat rushing to your cheeks, you couldn't help it. Knowing that your crush was this close to you made you very nervous. You had liked Donna as a friend almost instantly. You developed feelings for her only after a few weeks. She was so strong, kind, patient, had a personality of gold and was really really pretty. No one knew about your feelings towards her, not even your best friend, Gar... unless those feelings were really obvious.
"All done" Donna said with a warm smile. "Thanks" you tried to return the smile, hoping that it didn’t look weird. It was now or never. No one was asking you to do something, it was just you and Donna. You worried about her reaction, what if she didn't like you back? What if she was straight and uncomfortable that a girl was into her... You decided to take your chance, when else would you get the chance to ask Donna out for Valentines Day?
"Hey Donna... uh... do you want to be my Valentine this year?" You said nervously. You began to fidget with the ends of your hair, no doubt undoing all Donna's work.
"Its just... I've had feelings for you for a while now so I figured what better time to ask you out than for Valentines Day" you explained awkwardly, giggling a bit.
"Oh y/n" Donna replied, her shoulders sinking a bit. "I'm sorry to break your heart, y/n, I really am, but the feeling isn't mutual" she said, clearly upset that she had broken your heart. She pulled you in for a hug, trying to comfort you while you bit back tears of anger.
><
"Hey y/n" Gar chirped, looking up from his comic as you trudged into the living room. "What's wrong?" Gar asked when he saw how deflated you looked. You hadn't meant to run into him, you just wanted to get the book you had left on the couch and go back to your room to be angry at yourself in peace. But something about Gar was just so comforting. You sat down on the couch and let it all spill.
"I asked Donna out for Valentines Day because I've had feelings for her for a while now but she rejected me and now I'm really angry with myself for making her feel uncomfortable" you said, burying your face in your hands.
"Y/n, it's not your fault, you haven't done something wrong. A wise person said "you've done nothing wrong, you've only loved". Sometimes these things just don't work out, there'll be someone else out there I promise" Gar said as he wrapped one arm around your shoulders. Was the goofy, green dork actually being wise for once?
"Thanks Gar" you said with a small smile. "I just really liked her, that's all" you said.
"Aww that's ok, time will heal a broken heart" he said, not letting go of you. "Wait... you're a lesbian?" Gar asked, confused.
"Bisexual actually" you said, correcting him.
"Huh, funny thing is I could never tell that you liked Donna" said Gar.
"I guess I did a good job of covering it up then" you shrugged. There was a quiet moment between you two.
"Hey wanna go for a walk with me? Might make you feel better" Gar suggested. "Sure" you agreed.
><
While you were out on the walk with Gar, he had helped you to conjure up the idea to apologise to Donna and ask her to just be your friend. Gar said the apology wasn’t necessary but you insisted.
“Hey, um, Donna” you stuttered. “I just wanted to say that I’m really sorry for making you uncomfortable. I was hoping that you’d still be my friend, I think your a really awesome person and I still want to have a good friendship with you” you said, mustering up the courage to just let everything spill.
“Sure y/n, I think you’re a cool person too” Donna replied, with her award winning smile.

Note
On your second last fic, were you using “before” but meaning “after”???
Hi there, I'm not sure which part u r referring to. Could you maybe copy and paste the sentence so I can see what you mean?
Hi there, i just read over it again and i think i see what you mean. If you're talking about how I've used "before" in the subheadings, I intend for it to use the word before. The event that all those "befores" are leading up to is when y/n gets loses focus and gets shot in the fic. I included a subheading saying after for when I was talking about the events after that moment. Sorry I didn't notice what you meant until now. I hope this answers your question!

Struck by Love pt. 2 (Gar x reader)
Warnings: violence, mentions of death
Genre: fluff/ young lovers
Inspired by Struck by Lightning by (Sara Kays Feat. Cavetown)
a/n: please read part one before reading pt 2, I think it would make the experience of reading the series better. This part is set around the end of S2, E1 from the Netflix series Titans. I hope you all enjoy it!
In the mud, sinking down
Thinking of everything I have to think about
“Gar!” you screamed, rushing up to him. He had blood all over him, his beautiful face now marred by bruises and cuts. You wanted to wrap him up in a tight hug, but thought better of it when you saw his limp as he came towards you. You still hugged him gently, as though feeling him in your arms warm and alive would quiet your worries.
“Oh, Gar...”. You could feel tears burning from behind your eyes, clawing to get out. You bit them back though. This was not the time to cry.
“I’m ok, y/n. I’m still in one piece” Gar said light heartedly. Yes maybe he was in one piece, but he was hurt and you had no idea how badly or how he was hurt. His limp as he climbed into the car with everyone else as Dick took you all on an adventure was making you shatter on the inside.
><
“So you’re telling me you died twice in one day?” you asked, your anger and confusion clearly visible.
“Well yeah” Gar shrugged.
"And you were brought back by Rachel’s demon father?”
“Mhm”. Gar was trying not to worry you by taking things as though it wasn’t a big deal. You appreciated his efforts but they didn’t stop you from blaming yourself. You could’ve helped him, but stupidly, you left that day. And it was only to lay flowers on your parents’ graves one last time. When Dick had called you, you were at least an hour away, and by the time you got through the traffic on a bus, you were too late and couldn’t help Gar. Everything was over, leaving Gar injured and everyone else with heavy guilt for what they had done to him even though it wasn’t their fault.
“I can tell that you’re mad” Gar said. He seemed to be the only one who could see through you and tell what you were really thinking of feeling. Maybe it was because you two were best friends... well you two were more than that now but the rest of the team didn’t know that.
“Yes I’m mad, you can’t expect me to just be fine after telling me you died twice in one day and I wasn’t there to save you” you said in a rushed whisper, trying to keep your voice down but how were you supposed to just remain calm after your boyfriend had just gone through all that?
“I know you’re upset but like I said, I’m ok. Stop blaming yourself, it wasn’t your fault” Gar reassured you. You went to lace your fingers with his, but suddenly became aware that other people were in the car, so you just put your arm around him. He was still so impossibly warm. You hadn’t told anyone that you were dating, yet. Things had just been so busy. You were thinking of telling everyone once we got to Dick’s mystery destination but you needed to get Gar’s opinion first. You tended to rush into things before you could see what could go wrong.
“Gar” you whispered to get his attention.
“Yeah, y/n?” he responded.
“I’m thinking we should tell them about us when we get to wherever Dick’s going to take us” you said, unsure of how he would react.
“I don’t see why we shouldn’t, they’re going to work it out sooner or later” he said with a shrug. Gar was right, you two had looked close before because you were best friends, but now you two were visibly closer; and there was a new twinkle in your eyes when the other was smiling. You were also sure Rachel had seen you sneaking into Gar’s room in the middle of the night at least once out of the three times you’d snuck in. If she had seen you and realised it was you, she didn’t say anything.
><
San Francisco
“What is this place?” asked Rachel as you all walked out of the elevator. The place appeared to be in very good condition, but left. The furniture was covered in sheets and dust hovered in the air.
“Home” Dick announced with pride.
><
Later that evening, after cleaning up and settling in a little, you and Gar had managed to take a break and go out onto the roof.
“I’m counting down the minutes until we’ll either be celebrating or being murdered by Dick” Gar said jokingly. This brought a smile to your lips, warming Gar’s heart.
“I’m serious though, I have a feeling things won’t go super well...” He said, trailing off.
“Whatever happens, I’ll still love you” you said with all your heart.
You shut me up, look at the clouds
“I know but-” You cut him off by pressing your lips to his, in a deep kiss. Another storm began to brew, thunder rumbling loudly. Storms and lightning seemed to be your sign that everything was going to be ok.
‘Cause lightning struck
><
Everyone was now sitting at the table quietly, not really knowing what to say. You took the opportunity and broke the silence.
“So uhm, Dick, I, uh, we, have something to tell you” you said awkwardly.
“We?” Dick asked, his brows furrowing.
“y/n and I” Gar piped in. Dick nodded slowly but unsure of how to interpret the situation.
“Go on then” he said.
“Well, uh, there’s no easy way to say this but uhm... we’re dating” you said, looking at Gar.
“I knew it” said Rachel. Her tone was neither shocked nor triumphant, it just seemed as though she was announcing a new finding. Jason whistled, and muttered something inaudible, probably about how you had a weird taste in boys or something childish like that.
Dick’s jaw didn’t literally drop to the floor but you could see that he was having that reaction on the inside.
“No” was all Dick said before getting up and leaving the room.
><
What a way to go out
Dating? no, no, no. Dick thought as he rung Kory.
“Hey! where did you guys end up going?” Kory chirped brightly.
“San Francisco” Dick said flatly.
“What’s up? Did something go wrong?” she asked, her expression shifting to concern.
“Yes, very wrong” Dick replied.
“oh no... what happened?” Kory asked with curiosity.
“y/n and Gar are dating” Dick stated flatly.
“Oh yes they’d be such a cute couple!” Kory exclaimed. Dick could do nothing but blink in shock to her reaction.
Something this town will forever talk about
“You support this?” He asked, bewildered.
“Yes, of course I do. If they make each other happy, I’m not going to stand in the way” Kory explained.
The two kids who were laying down
“I know but-”
“And weren’t you the one who dated Dawn?” Kory asked with an accusatory tone.
“Yeah, and look how that turned out” said Dick, thinking his point had been proven.
“Well it can’t have been that bad because you and I were a thing for a while” said Kory. Dick was speechless. She was right, he couldn’t say anything to y/n and Gar because he had done the very same thing, twice.
“You have a point” Dick said in defeat.
And struck by lightning in front of your house
><
You had left as soon as Dick was out of sight, Gar following not long after to comfort you. Now, as you sat on the end of your bed with Gar holding you close in his arms, you struggled to hold in tears of anger. You could only imagine how your sweet, sensitive and kind, Gar was feeling. You pulled out of his embrace to lace your fingers with his.
“I’m sorry” you said, trying not to cry. What did Dick mean by “no”? Deep down you knew what he meant, but you didn’t want to believe it yet.
“Sorry for what? You didn’t do anything wrong, baby” Gar said as he leaned his head on your shoulder. Baby. That had become your favourite pet name and you two had gotten pretty used to addressing each other by it in such a short time. You wondered how many more times you would get to use it. You gave him a small smile of appreciation.
“I wonder what Jason and Rachel think of us now” Gar said light heartedly, trying to shift your focus from analysing what Dick had said.
The kids out on the playgrounds
“Jason probably thinks we’re crazy. Rachel knew” you smirked half heartedly.
Years from now will say “did you ever hear about
“Crazy is extreme but at this point, I think it’s the right way to describe it” Gar chuckled. He gave you the softest of kisses. It made you want to melt, undoubtedly he was upset but he knew you were too and he was trying to make you smile. You decided to try to get past this. It wasn’t the end of the world, you and Gar would find a way around it.
The two kids who were laying down
“Gar” you said
“mhm?” he responded
“I love you”
“I love you too, baby” he said. You kissed him once more, not just a quick peck this time, but a deep kiss.
And struck by lightning in front of your house”
><
You opened your door to find that it was Dick who had knocked. For once you couldn’t meet his gaze, too angry and ashamed to look into his eyes.
Mmh, maybe on a sunny day
“I wanted to say that I’m sorry” Dick said without missing a beat. You looked up in shock and Gar’s head perked up.
You might have something to say
“Like someone said to me, if you two make each other happy, I shouldn’t stand in the way. I was just worried that you two would lose sight of our aim here” Dick explained.
But if you don’t, that’s ok
“I- No- We wouldn’t lose focus” you responded.
“All we need is each other, that’s all” Gar piped in.
“Right. I know” Dick said with a small smile before turning around and leaving you two alone. You almost jumped into Gar’s arms with happiness.
“I told you it would all work out” Gar laughed.
“Shut up” you giggled before kissing so that he couldn’t say anything else.
“y/n, I love you” said Gar, his arms around your waist, pulling you into him.
“I love you too Gar, more than anything else in this world” you said. He kissed you, the moment could not have been more perfect. Your unwavering love for Gar seeming to grow, the feeling of his impossible warmth against you, and the thunder and lightning booming outside your window making you feel like you were the luckiest person on the face of this Earth.
What a way to go out
Something this town will forever talk about
The two kids who were laying down
And struck by lightning in front of your house

Line Without You (Gar x reader)
Warnings: Violence, guns, gangs, illegal human experimentation, killing
Genre: mixed (not really sure lol)
Inspired partially by Line Without a Hook (by Ricky Montgomery)
a/n: I don’t think this needs a part 2 but I’ll do one if requested
I don’t really give a damn about the way you touch me
when we’re alone
3 hrs before
“Stop it! I swear if you- Ah!” You giggled playfully as Gar smacked you with a pillow from the couch. You had been trying to play a game with your best friend and you were midway through explaining the long list of rules when Gar had decided to start smacking you with a pillow. He was being such a goofy dork (as usual) but it was one of the things you loved about your bestie. There was no way you were going to get to read out the whole list of rules but you weren’t going down without a fight. You picked up the pillow nearest to you and began playfully smacking Gar with the pillow.
“Last time I checked, that wasn’t a combat skills training exercise” Dick joked as he walked into the living room, where you guys had been at war for the past 5 minutes. Dick chuckled before a more serious expression came onto his face, causing you two to stop and realise something serious was happening.
“We’ve received intel informing us that a gang that’s been wanted for months is going to be attempting to blow up a large building that’s hosting am event tonight. If they are to succeed, over 900 would be dead, 200 of those being government officials, military leaders etc.” Dick explained.
“I’ll see you all back here, suited up and ready to go in 15 minutes” Dick said before leaving. You and Gar wasted no time in suiting up, despite your unfinished battle.
2 hrs before
“hey y/n, I need to talk to you for a minute” Dick said while you all were in the back of the van, on the way to the building that you were supposed to prevent from blowing up. You leaned in closer to Dick to hear what he was saying.
“I’m worried about Gar... He’s not exactly low profile, he’s a green tiger. Our source says that 30 of the 50 gang members there will be armed not only with tranquiliser darts, but darts with a poison in them deadly to animals. When I tell you to, I need you to persuade him to get out of harm’s way when the time is right, until we’ve taken those 30 people out. If he refuses to do that, I need you to use your abilities to bring him into a state of unconsciousness and get him out of there. We can hold on with him gone for a while, we’ll be ok” Dick said, dead serious.
You didn’t want to use your abilities on Gar like that. But you knew that it would be worse if you failed to get him out of there and he ended up dead. Gulping, you nodded. You had two different types of abilities, some you were born with, the rest you gained after becoming a trained assassin and being a test subject for the academy that took you in and made you the assassin. The abilities you were born with enabled you to feel exactly what another person could feel- their pain, their happiness and all. If you really concentrated, you could manipulate them, but that was becoming easier now. It also meant that you had elevated senses, you could see, smell, hear much better than the average human, almost twice as much in fact. You were also more sensitive to touch and could feel the slightest motion and shift in temperature around you. It was almost impossible for someone to sneak up on you. As for being a fully trained assassin... well you became that at the age of 13, but you left that life behind when Dick had scouted you on one of your missions 2 years after becoming fully qualified. You didn’t want to be a mindless killer anymore, so you forced yourself to get a handle on it before running away to join the Titans. It had literally taken you two hours to explain the medical procedures and modifications that had been made on you as an experiment to turn you into the ultimate weapon. This was all very very illegal of course, you didn’t even get a say in whether you went through with the medical procedure at the Academy.
><

You had all been told that this was a very prestigious event, and you were forced to wear a dress. A dress. You were not the type of person to wear a dress, not ever, you just knew how inconvenient they were and hard to move in. Luckily, you had your suit on underneath so you weren’t itching too much from the unfamiliar material. Gar had teased you about it all the way into the building.
“ And you claim that you hate dresses, look at you now wearing one! You’re actually kinda cute when you’re mad” Gar had giggled. It only made you dread what you might have to do to your best friend who you were hopelessly in love with. Yes, that’s right you were another victim to falling in love with your best friend. But Gar had an utterly charming personality, heart warming smile and he was just so sweet in general. And lets not talk about the fact that he has stunning dark green hair...
><

Dick had hacked the system to get you all on the guest list beforehand. You all entered the building to find that all the guests were dancing. It was the formal kind of dancing though, something you had never done before.
Alright everyone, disperse through the crowd and keep an eye on things. Let the team know through the earpieces if you see any of the suspects we mentioned earlier” Dick said before disappearing into the crowd. You were taken aback when Gar grabbed your hand.
you can hold my hand
if no one’s home
“Be my partner, y/n?” he asked.
“Fine, but I can’t dance” you responded
“I’ll teach you” said Gar as he led you into the crowd.
1 hour before
You got the hang of the movements pretty quickly, and Gar was a good teacher. You made sure you stayed near an exit so you could get Gar out when Dick instructed you to.
“y/n, time to get Gar out, we’ve spotted a suspect” came Dick’s voice through the earpiece. You had been dreading this moment.
“Gar, do you trust me?” you asked.
“Of course,” he replied.
“Then I need you to get out of here and wait outside for a while” you said, careful not to let your voice waver.
“What? No- I won’t abandon the team” he said, sounding almost offended.
“I just need you to trust me and do it” you begged
“No,” Gar said firmly. This is exactly what you were dreading- how had it all come true so fast?
“Then I’m sorry” you said, your voice devoid of emotion as you brought unconsciousness upon him using your abilities. You could feel his shock and... betrayal. You ducked out the exit and lied Gar down in the van before returning to the building.
Do you like it when I’m away?
If I went and hurt my body, baby
would you still love me the same?
30 mins before
Dick informed you that almost as soon you left with an unconscious Gar in your arms, the gang members began to disappear. Not leaving, just slowly falling out of sight, most likely preparing to place the bombs. Then you heard it- the sound of a gun’s safety being clicked off.
“Everybody get down!” you shouted just as the sound of a gunshot rang through your ears. A sound that you were used to after becoming an assassin.
“Dick, the gunshot came from someone in the corner furthest from the entrance” you said through your earpiece.
“Got it, get everyone else out, y/n” Dick replied. You discarded the dress, it would only restrict your movement.
><

All the guests left without a struggle, all eager to get out of there as fast as possible. Only about 50 people remained, excluding the Titans. You could feel them, shifting, readying weapons. You felt someone coming at you from behind. In one swift movement, you connected your fist with his face, rendering him unconscious. You found these strange darts filled with a blue liquid attached to a belt on the member you knocked out. One sniff and you knew it was an animal poison. Now that you thought about it, there was a strange smell in the room the whole time. You informed Dick that you had identified the animal poison and began taking out the gang members with the darts on them.
><

I can feel all my bones coming back
and I’m craving motion
mama never really learns how to live by herself
Gar woke up, confused. How had he ended up in the back of the van? Then he remembered. Had y/n really used her abilities to knock him out? Oh god the rest of the team... Gar hoisted himself up, determined to go in to see if everything was ok. That’s when he heard the gunshots. Things were not ok, and he decided that it was best he leave the formal attire behind.
1 Minute before
Gar burst into the building in the heat of the moment, pushing the doors open with such force that they banged against the walls behind them. The noise was enough to distract you for just long enough.
It’s a curse
and it’s growing
you’re a pond and I’m an ocean
Your ears were still ringing and you only just heard the gunshot, but you couldn’t hear where it came from. You knew though, when it hit you in your neck. You couldn’t even make a sound before you crumpled to the ground, warm crimson blood trickling from your neck. The shooter moved forward to deliver the final shot. No, no, no, no I can’t go yet, there’s still one person with the darts standing. Suddenly all you could smell was the iron of blood.
“No you don’t” said Donna as she took out the shooter.
“y/n!” called Gar. Oh no, you didn’t want him to see you die. You never got to tell him that you love him.
Oh, all my emotions
feel like explosions when you are around
black spots clouded your vision, slowly taking it over completely.
“y/n, no!” Kory screamed.
“No, y/n. No, no, no, no” Rachel screeched. Now you were completely numb... very slowly drifting away...
and I’ve found a way to kill the sounds, oh
After
You were drifting in and out of consciousness.
“Today’s not the day to die, kid” said Donna. She was trying to be strong but she was biting back tears. You remember Kory murmuring something... or maybe she was quietly crying. You remember being lifted out of the van but blacked out after that, the only lingering thought in your mind was about how you weren’t ready to go.
><

Oh baby, I’m a wreck without you
“He hasn’t left her side for more than 15 minutes for two days” said Kory.
“She was his best friend. And he blames himself” Dick explained. They had all been checking in on Gar who, as Kory said, hadn’t left y/n’s side for more than 15 minutes for two days. She had taken a bullet in the neck, it severed some major veins and possibly a nerve. She lost a lot of blood. They were all almost sure she wasn't going to make it. All they knew was that she hadn’t been moving at all after she was shot. Gar had also barely slept, he seemed very stressed, borderline paranoid. Kory worried for him, you couldn’t put him to sleep now. How long until he could sleep soundly again, Kory wondered.
I need you here to stay
The first thing you could hear was a heartbeat. You couldn’t determine who’s it was, your mind too foggy and the pain searing throughout your body burning you from the inside out. The next thing you could feel was something soft...
Your eyelids fluttered open to a sterile room, all white except for stunning green resting under your hand. You recognised that green. It was Gar’s hair. He was sleeping, resting his head under your hand. ><Gar became aware of someone running their fingers through his hair. It all felt very vague and dreamlike. He waited for it to pass but it didn't. Could it be…He opened his eyes to see you awake with your hand running through his hair.
"Y/n!" He said, overjoyed. He wanted to wrap you up in a tight hug but was aware of your fragile state. "I'll go get Dick and Kory," Gar said, ducking out.
><
Once Dick and Kory had left, you pulled Gar in for a hug with the arm that didn't have tubes running in and out of it. He hesitated but eventually slipped his arm behind you and held you close. He was impossibly warm, a luxurious sensation compared to that of the burning pain.
"Did we win?" You asked wearily.
"We did, but it wasn't worth you almost dying. But it was my fault if I had just listened to you I" he was cut off by you pressing your finger to his lips.
I broke all my bones that day I found you
Crying at the lake
Was it something I said to make you feel like you're a burden?
"Hush, it wasn't your fault. And I'm alive now, aren't I? You said as you pulled him closer, to that he sat on your bed next to you. You wrapped your other arm around him and brought the one without the tubes in it up to his hair. You felt him slowly relaxing against you. You could see that he was sleep deprived. Within no time, he was in a sound sleep. You didn't even have to use your abilities on him. Soon, you drifted off next to him. His soft, dark green hair soothed you as you ran your fingers through it and his impossible warmth so comforting. You wanted to freeze this moment in time, to never move on. You could feel your unwavering love for Gar, your best friend grow even more. It was like the world shifted slightly when you were with Gar.
Oh, and if I could take it all back
I swear that I would pull you from the tide

Struck by Love (Gar x reader)
Warnings: mention of torture, blood, murder/killing
Genre: fluff/ young lovers
Inspired by Struck by Lightning (Sara Kays Feat. Cavetown)
a/n: Part 2 or more (hopefully) will come out by request. I’m open to people sending prompts or ideas for additional parts. This is my first fanfic, I’m kinda nervous but I hope you enjoy it.
It’s storming out, maybe you should come inside
and tell my why you don’t wanna be alive
Rain pelted the windows of the safehouse unrelentingly. Everyone was worn out, tired and haunted by the asylum. That place had almost broken each and every one of you, pushing you in particular to do something you didn’t want to do. You had killed someone. Although it wasn’t the first time you had killed, you didn’t like it one bit. You were left emotionally drained and numb every time, hating yourself for not being able to find another solution. The only person who could make you feel better, was Gar. The green haired boy with a charming personality and boyish grin. He was your best friend so, of course you made each other feel better. However, you felt more than friendship when you were with him. You liked him. Truth be told, you loved him.
><
Something was off about Gar, you had noticed it on the way back to the safehouse. He had a hollow look in his eyes and there was blood covering his chin, dripping down to his neck and chest. You didn’t want to assume the worst. Gar was kind, even in his tiger form, he refused to bite anyone. When you all arrived back at the safehouse, he disappeared. You assumed that he had gone to take a shower to scrub the blood off his skin. You figured you should do the same, to wash the blood off your skin too. It was mostly yours, from when the people at the asylum had made cuts all over your body to retrieve blood samples. They had taken so much blood that you felt light headed. But you couldn’t bring yourself to step in the shower, not after they tortured you in the asylum. They had cuffed your hands and legs and held you under water in a large tank until you almost drowned, before bringing you up until you had just caught your breath before plunging you back into the water. They clearly thought water torture would trigger you to use your abilities, but they were useless in the water. You could absorb and redirect energy. Not just electricity, but heat, light, sound and kinetic energy. You were able to break free from the tank when someone made the mistake of trying to electrocute you while you were in the water. You wasted no time in sending a bolt of pure electricity towards the electric lock, frying it and opening the door to the tank. Water spilled out all over the floor and you had just enough time to knock out the 3 scientists in the room with a little shock. Rachel and her mother walked in a few minutes later, and managed to find the key to unlock your cuffs.
“Rachel, look out!” you shouted. There was a man coming through the doorway, he was armed with a gun... pointed directly at Rachel’s head. If you had acted a moment later, Rachel would have been dead. She was too busy trying to push her mother out of the way. So, you grabbed a scalpel off a nearby table and swiftly dragged the blade across the man’s throat. His hot blood spattered across your collarbone and arms as he fell backwards.
You stood there shaking in the doorway of the shower remembering the experience. You reminded yourself that it was you who chose to go with Gar and Rachel to rescue her mother, you got yourself into this mess now you had to get yourself out of it by overcoming the fear. Slowly, you got into the shower and turned the water on. It was warm and washed the blood away quickly.
You felt better with the blood off your skin. You needed to find Gar. To see if he was okay... and maybe because you really needed a hug. You went into the kitchen and made a cup of tea for yourself and Gar before going over to his room to find him. He wasn’t there though. You searched the whole safehouse but couldn’t find him. One last place popped into your mind- the roof. it was quiet out there, it made sense for him to go there if he wanted a quiet place to think, but it was storming.
You opened the door to the roof and were relieved to find Gar there. He was sitting in the middle of the roof, staring into space... in the middle of the heavy rain. You set the mugs of tea aside before going out onto the roof to sit next to him.
If you don’t respond, I’ll put my shoes on
And lay down on the pavement beside you
“hey Gar” you said quietly. Your throat and lungs still burned from the water.
“Hey” muttered Gar.
You paused for a minute, not sure whether you should continue talking.
“Are you alright?” you asked
“I’m fine” he said vaguely
“we both know that “fine” is just an acronym for faking a smile, insecure, neurotic and emotionless” you said, as strongly as you could. Gar still hadn’t looked at you.
“Tell me please. I hate seeing that empty look in your eyes, I know something happened. I won’t leave you no matter what it is” you said softly, with reassurance in your tone. You waited patiently for his response.
“I... I bit a man at the asylum. Hell, y/n, I didn’t just bite him, I killed him” Gar said, his voice breaking on the last few words. Gar’s eyes were watering and you could see his wall of “I’m fine”, “I’m the one who doesn’t get hurt by anything”, “I’m just sensitive, don’t worry” begin to crumble.
“When I got out of the cage, I just... I lost control” Gar had begun to cry now, tears running down his face.
“Oh Gar, I’m sorry. I am so sorry I wasn’t there. I know you are upset at yourself for losing control. Let me help you through this” you said gently, even though it burned your throat. You wrapped him your arms around him and just held him, rain soaking through your clothes. It didn’t bother you too much. You had Gar and he needed your help.
“I won’t let you go, I won’t let you fade away. I couldn’t keep going without you” you hoped that he didn’t take it weirdly, but you hoped more that he could return your feelings. You could be there to keep him safe, you wanted to be the one to bring his smile back.
If we get struck at least we’ll make the news
You were almost certain that he had taken it platonically, until he responded.
“Thank you, y/n. I couldn’t go a day without you either. I need you. I can’t believe I’m going to say this now, of all times, but I have feelings for you. I love you, y/n. I loved you the moment I met you. But I don’t want to hurt you, I am terrified that I’ll lose control and you’ll be my next victim” said Gar, fear in his eyes, but also longing or maybe wanting.
“I...I...Gar...” you struggled to find words. Your throat burned but your desire to express your feelings burned more.
“I know you couldn’t hurt me if you tried. Tiger or not. In control or not.” you pulled him closer. “I love you too Gar, with all my heart” you said, leaning your head onto his shoulder for a brief moment before bringing your lips up to his.
What a way to go out
He didn’t hesitate to kiss you back, wrapping his arms around your waist. You ran your hands through his wet, green hair. He pulled away, slowly and pulled you into his chest. And that was your first kiss, soaking wet, in the harsh rain, on a roof, with a boy who had green hair and could turn into a green tiger.
You two stayed like that, for a few minutes until Kory opened the door to the roof, when you jumped apart, not ready for the rest of the team to find out.
Something this town will forever talk about
><
Later that evening, you were doing your best to act like nothing at the asylum happened. No one suspected anything between you and gar... yet because you two were best friends and everything looked normal, but everyone had started to notice that something particularly bad happened to you at the asylum. Gar had been the one to finally ask you about it. He was feeling better, and smiling again. You were glad to see it. He grabbed your hand, lacing his fingers in with yours and pulled you into his room. You both sat down on his bed.
“y/n, you helped me get through what I did at the asylum, now let me help you” he said with determination. You didn’t resist his help. You felt like there was no barrier of any kind between you and Gar, so you let everything spill out. Starting with the water, then Rachel finding you, and the man with the gun. When you looked up, you half expected Gar to look at you with horror for killing someone just like that. But he didn’t his expression hadn’t changed one bit. he pulled you in and hugged you close, kissing the top of your head. You wrapped your arms around his neck and breathed him in. This was a moment you used to dream of, and here you were now, wrapped up in Gar’s arms.
“you didn’t do anything wrong. You saved Rachel and her mother. There was nothing else you could’ve done without someone getting shot” he said softly. You held onto him for a moment longer before letting go to kiss him.

That night you couldn’t sleep. You were still thinking about what happed to Gar, wishing that you had gotten out earlier to help him. You also wanted to be with him... there were no secrets between you two now so why not admit to him that you longed for his touch?
You knocked softly on Gar’s door. You expected him to be asleep but were surprised when he opened the door, wide awake.
“can’t sleep either?” he asked
"yeah... it sounds stupid but I missed you even though I’m only two doors away” you said, chuckling. Gar took hold of your hand and pulled you into his room with that grin that made you want to melt. He pulled you into his bed and cuddled you straight away. You were surprised at how warm he was. The weather was freezing and so was the safehouse. You laced your fingers with his and fell into a pleasant sleep very quickly.
The two kids who were laying down
You woke up feeling refreshed from a good night’s sleep. Gar was a surprisingly touchy person, throughout the night, he couldn’t keep his hands off you, his hands on your waist or in your hair or holding your hand. Truth be told, you loved it. Loved him. And very grateful that he loved you too.
And struck by lightning in front of your house
