Any headcanons for how Galahad and Percival would celebrate Halloween? Also, when and how did you first start shipping them?

first of all: they’d definitely dress up in those matching couples costumes, and would most definitely hand candy out to trick or treaters. feel like they’d go as genderbent versions of madoka and sayaka from pmmm bc my versions of them are based off those two.

i started shipping them when i read “cold winds” by birdbitch on ao3 and... it’s absolutely perfect. very sweet but a+ percyhad content i’m begging you to read it. and i started thinking to myself about how my versions paralleled madoka and sayaka from puella magi madoka magica - another favorite rarepare of mine!

since it’s a bit long and not everyone may want to see it, i’m gonna put the rest of it under a read more. but tl;dr: don’t try and start drama between fans if different arthuriana ships, this is also why i had to turn anon off and why anon will be turned off for an indeterminate period of time.

recently, i received an anonymous ask in my inbox regarding percival and galahad. i ended up deleting it and i don’t have a screenshot for it, but i will try my best to summarize what the person asked here.

“your art and fanfic for percyhad is very nice, do you ship them because they are healthier than galahad and mordred?”

long answer short: no.

first of all, what basis is this anon using to determine how “healthy” galahad and percival’s relationship is? my art and fanfiction? the closest to unhealthy i have is mordred having unrequited love towards galahad, but at the very least respecting his boundaries. i like galahad and mordred and what they could have, i simply prefer galahad and percival more.

since there’s no canon basis for arthurian legend, there’s no guarantee of how completely healthy galahad and percival’s relationship could be. if someone were to write these two characters in a toxic abusive relationship, it would completely contradict the point anon here is trying to make. furthermore... i really don’t see a lot of unhealthy portrayals of galahad and mordred? even though galahad and mordred can be seen as foils, that does not necessarily make the relationship unhealthy. 

i think this anon was trying to start some sort of drama between fans of these two ships, and as someone dubbed the unofficial percyhad queen i feel like i’m gonna just wrap this up and get to the point.

if you don’t like percyhad, fine. if you don’t like galdred, fine. what’s not fine is deliberately trying to cause tension between fans of these pairings like this person was doing. i don’t wish ill on this person, but i do at least hope they recognize that what they’re saying and doing isn’t okay and that they’ll try and become a better person.

ok so i'm always on the search for new percival/galahad aka percyhad content (that i didnt create bc the fanbase for these two is so small weehhhh) so i would LOVE to hear about your version of them. just... ramble to me.... about these two... it would be 200% appreciated

Omg I’m so happy you are asking! I’ll ramble about my babies anytime.

Well, first of all, Percival and Galahad are secondary/minor characters in my book, which means they have limited development but here we go.

We have Percival. He is not of noble origin, but the son of a deceased soldier and a woman who works in Camelot. He is a very sweet and humble boy, he’s super talkative and kind and he loves animals. But the boy’s a fighter. His mother doesn’t want him to learn how to fight so he won’t die like his father, but here goes the Lady of the Lake (Nimue, my protagonist), who instantly likes Percival and takes him and his sister Dindrane under her wing when she’s in Camelot. Nimue uses her influence to grant these two all they want and basically Percival starts training with some very prominent knights (Bors being one of them). The kid has talent, though he is rather naïve.

Galahad’s upbringing is… totally different. First of all, he is born after Elaine of Corbenic basically r*pes Lancelot (yikes) when he was staying in her father’s castle (which here has nothing to do with the Grial Quest, btw) and long story short, the queens of Avalon end up taking baby Galahad. I’m not going to give much detail of this, but basically, Galahad grows up in Avalon without Lancelot even knowing he has a son.

Galahad… how can I say. He is brilliant. He is good at everything he attempts. He’s a few years younger than Percival but the boy is big and something in his eyes makes him look older than he is, as if he could see some sort of deeper truth. He is very thoughtful, stern even, very quiet and perhaps a little shy from young age, annd like Percy, he wants to become a knight.

So, when he becomes older, he goes to Camelot. See, he doesn’t know who his real father is and vice versa but it’s almost painfully obvious because the boy is identical to Lancelot (only taller and bulkier), so obviously they find out. It’s a weird relationship. Lancelot tries but he can’t love the child, so he stays away. Guinevere is so cold to him like… yeah… and she is you know THE QUEEN so that’s relevant. Poor baby. But the child is SO gifted, like he will become such great knight! And they all know. Arthur most of all. However people don’t really like him. He is… much too perfect. He is distant, rather cold, prideful, rather self-righteous and too clever for his own good. But he meets Percival and oh lord he LOVES him.

Percival is fascinated by him, he thinks Galahad is the coolest dude around. They are together all the time and Percival is pretty much Galahad’s only friend. Not that Percival lacks friends himself: people really like him because he is so bright and funny and nice, though most people think he is rather simple and a bit of an idiot, but a kind one who’s rather talented for knighly stuff, so they let him be.

To summarize, Percy worships the boy, and it’s mutual. People don’t really dare making fun or talking bullsht of them, but well… anyway the thing is those two share a deep love no one really understands (except, perhaps, Percy’s sister).

Now, what about the Grial? Well, when the stories of the Grial become popular, Dindrane and Percy are fascinated and keep dreaming about it. There is a sort of Grial craze in Camelot and many try to find it, unsuccessfully. Upon arriving Camelot and converting to christianism, Galahad learns the story and becomes OBSESSED with it. He is determined to find it. Hell, he knows he’ll find it. So when they are knighted, he convinces Arthur to let him and Percy go and find it and they leave with Bors and Dindrane… never to be seen again.

Eventually, Bors comes back, but the three children (they are not children anymore but you know) don’t. What happened to them is a mystery. No one knows where they are, how they died (if they did), or if they found the so-called Grial… all they know is they (Percy and Galahad, Dindrane kinda has her own mystery) were together until the very end, whatever it was.
