Blog for my interest in Furry subculture and its history, as well as appreciating anthropomorphic artwork in general !!WEB-14 rating: there may be some suggestive or sensitive, but not explicit, material.
Following the pumpkin ghost figurine I reposted awhile ago, here is another adorable beast handmade by youkai-enthousiast artist Acotama.
Acotama's work is inspired by characters drawn in hyakki yagyo emaki (scrolls depicting "night parades of one hundred demons") popular during Edo-period. If some monsters were well known ones (kitsune, tengu, oni, kappa, etc.), many only appear once, making them cheeky creepers drawn for fun more than terrifying creatures of the night.
The discarded hakama shown here is awakening into a tsukumogami with a funny fox-deer face:
Ye gods, I did not expect to find a picture of me on here. From the neck down, the photo edit by Kichebo you posted on June 10 is me, and I *think* it was done at Anthrocon that year by commission. Just want to say, thank you for posting and for the trip down memory lane.
That is so cool!!! Love it when people who were present in the fandom at the time of what i post see/interact with this blog.
This ask made me happy. Sorry it took me nearly a year to answer it >_>!
sy sable (left), arguably the father of the furry fandom, died peacefully in his sleep this morning at 71 -- he co-founded Confurence, organized our very first room parties and the first furry BBS, and provided housing to displaced furs since 1980. please keep his partner, friends and family in your thoughts today and remember the passion and effort your community was built on
