How to draw folds
Notes on how to draw folds back when I was teaching manga classes back in 2006. From the book “Drawing people” by Barbara Bradley.
http://www.amazon.com/Drawing-People-Portray-Clothed-Figure/dp/1581803591
This book has a very detailed description of 6 types of commonly seen folds and I think is one of the most educational resource on how to draw folds(Besides Vilppu and Bridgeman).

A perfect example of how to start a painting. This technique I've noticed is also super helpful for digital painting and learning to paint digitally... That is: start with a base sketch (doesn't have to be perfect), then start blocking in your colors starting from the background (usually starting with the darker colors first), then working your way to the foreground and brightest colors last.

New to art? Great! Intimidated? Don't be!
Art, like any other skill is just that: a skill. It can be developed and honed over time with practice and patience. But mostly practice. Noone ever picked up a pen or brush or chisel and was instantly good at making art. That's something I need to constantly remind myself of, and if you're a perfectionist like me, it can definitely get frustrating.
So, long story short, no matter your skill, just keep practicing and you'll get better. With this blog, I'll go over a ton of stuff, mostly drawing, ceramics and metals/jewelry related because that's mostly what I work with, but also how to give and take constructive criticism, repairing and preserving art, and tutorials for simple and complex art things. So I hope you enjoy it, and if you ever have a question on something, feel free to ask. If I don't know how to do something, I'll do my best to find out how or to find the best way to do it.
