Also, another Vandyke attempt! This time I rod-coated with a 1/4in steel round bar and did the second coat with the brush, dry, which really helped get a consistent coat except for the sides where the paper curled and the solution pooled. Got great contrast off the Foma negatives though!

Something from the archive today! An Antares launch at Wallops Island, on the Yashica FX-1 and ML 50/1.7. This was on Kodak Gold I found in my dad’s desk, bought around 1997/98, and shot August 2023. He got me into aerospace, bringing me to airshows and launches since before I can remember, so I figured it was the perfect scene.

I adore HUGE photographic prints, especially stuff like large format contact prints or the early processes, but i think i love small paintings the same. For some reason i just have less love for huge paintings than i do for small paintings and huge prints. I also like small prints but only sometimes, not like the huge ones.

So this morning I read a post about developing slide film in negative chemistry and getting a positive by using B&W developer, a fogging step, then a full ECN-2 process. I don’t have ECN-2 chems on hand, so I used my Bellini C-41 kit and a 2013 expired roll of E100G I shot on fall break.
I definitely needed more time in the first developer and colder light in the fogging step, but I got some images out of it!!

I just realized I never showed y’all the Argus! This is a 1959 Argus C3 Matchmatic, very likely owned by a Proctor H. Boggs in Columbus, OH. I got this from Goodwill for $26 a few years ago, but it’s taken a minute to get around to actually fully servicing it.

Another test of the rangefinder on the C3. This one was a little strange to focus because of the two sides of the feeder flower at slightly different distances, but I've generally learned now for critical focus to move my face around to see the finder from the right spot. It works well enough anyway, and I love the weirdly intense mechanical vignetting from the camera's Coated Cintar 50mm f/3.5 lens.

oh and! i fixed my Argus C3 Matchmatic (1959) rangefinder, so now I can do flashbulbs and stuff. I love this strange machine and it feels nothing at all, anyway here's a spent flashbulb in the dinged-in-air-transit original flashgun
