How Lucien acts around his mate

a/n: It’s been a while since I wrote anything so I’m posting this one before I give up. I will try to post more next week so feel free to send requests!

warnings: fluff; kinda suggestive; not proofread; english is not my first language so let me know if you find any mistakes

At the moment he finds out

Lucien felt the bond the first time he saw his mate. He was truly surprised, even shocked to be honest. Lucien didn’t expected to have a mate after what happened to Jesminda, he was actually afraid of having one and end up putting your life at risk by being connected to him. Lucien would be ecstatic and happy, but at the same time couldn’t help but fear.

How he acts?

He would be completely open about it and would probably just split it out as soon he has the opportunity. Lucien just wants to be with his mate and knows how important is to keep a clear and sincere dialogue. He really values honesty, especially when it comes about the bond.

Lucien is not the only one affected by it and even if you didn’t feel it yet, he doesn’t want to left you in the dark.

Will he tell anyone?

As I said before, Lucien doesn’t keep the bond as a secret. He won’t scream it to the whole world (since it’s not something that belongs only to him but also to his mate) but I think he would share it with his close friends (Jurian, Vassa and maybe Feyre) and also with Eris.

In short, he won’t try to hide it but in respect to his mate, he will kept it low until you’re comfortable enough to tell other people.

When his mate feels the bond

Lucien will definitely be insecure, he was opened about the subject since the beginning but once you feel the bond too he’s too scared you will reject him. I think he always would be around you, but if you rather not having his company he will give you all the space needed.

When his mate accepts the bond

Lucien got used to the feeling of rejection and somehow already waiting for it. Once his mate accepted the bond, agreeing to spend the rest of your life with him, Lucien was truly surprised and extremely happy, a type of happiness he thought he would never be able to feel.

That was the first time the light inherited from Helion reveled itself. He felt a joy that made the power overflow through his veins.

He won’t leave your side (and your bed).

Things he loves to do with his mate

Definitely traveling. Once the matebond was officialized Lucien just wanted to enjoy every second with you and above all, the freedom you both had. He didn’t want to be rooted in a court for a while and neither did you. So you both dedicate your free time on travels to other cuts and to the human lands, even those beyond the continent.

Lucien doesn’t actually enjoy having to wear a disguise to deceive humans, but there was nothing better in the world than knowing every piece of the world next to his favorite person.

Does he often gets jealous?

Is something rare to happen, but sometimes the matebond makes him a little possessive. When someone shamelessly hits on you, Lucien sassy personality would definitely show up (all I have to say is: poor guy who thought it would be a good idea to flirt with Lucien Vanserra’s mate.

Favorite body part

Your neck. Lucien loves to kiss your neck and to buy you jewels that enhance your skin. He also loves the way you react when he give small kisses or when he decided to use his hands as your necklace.

HE LOVES IT. Lucien loves to be feeling your skin against him so he doesn’t care if you are in public or not, he just wants to feel your skin against his.

How often he says “I love you?”

At the beginning it was harder for him to say the 3 little words, Lucien thought somehow he would scare you away once he said it, so he rather demonstrate with attitudes.

You were the first to say you loved him and once you did, Lucien realized how stupid he was being and started to say how much he loves you every day.

Protectiveness

Lucien been through a lot and because of that, he’s always scared something bad will happen to you. I don’t think he would be the overprotective type but would insist that you learn to defend yourself, supporting you to start training with the Valkyries (and also become one of them).

Random bonus

When it comes to you Lucien is always open to any kind of conversation, no matter how difficult it is. He told you everything that happened in his past without censorship (you were the first person he felt completely safe for that).

He loves to hear you talk and always encourages you to always tell him when someone bothers you, setting your boundaries. Lucien becomes your best friend, not only your mate.

He’s also very open to try anything new on bed. So if you’re curious about something, Lucien is definitely down for it.

How Eris acts around his mate

warnings: kinda suggestive; mentions of beron (ew)

At the moment he finds out

Eris pretends everything is fine. No one could tell he just felt the bond snapping into place. He is a portrait of coldness as always. When Eris was younger, he expected and dreamed on having a mate, but once he grew up and discovered what his father was capable of (mostly with his mother and after what happened to Jesminda), the oldest Vanserra hoped to never finding a mate.

Eris rather to be alone than watching his mate’s life turning into a living hell because of the bond. And after the Cauldron united your souls together, he felt pure fear running through his veins.

How he acts?

As I said before, the bond truly terrifies Eris. Not because of you, but his father. If wasn’t for Beron, Eris would definitely be more around you and demonstrate how he feels (if there’s no Beron, he would definitely be constantly flirting with his mate), but he can’t, so honestly, he kinda turns into a ghost after he felt the bond. Better saying, he acts like you’re a ghost who is haunting him, because this male is avoiding you a lot.

Even so, Eris can’t be rude to you, he can’t act like an asshole like he easily does with anyone else. He tries to keep his distance and avoid to have long conversations with you, yet he always is discreetly watching you across the room, secretly admiring. Somedays it’s really hard for him to fight the instinct to be near his mate and he allows himself to daydream of how your life together could be.

Attentive eyes (I mean, very very observant eyes) could notice how his eyes soften when he sees you.

Will he tell anyone?

Definitely NOT. Eris is keeping the bond for himself for all the reasons I said before. He is good at keeping secrets and wont let this slip. Well, at least this is what he thought, because Lucien realized how Eris behavior slightly changed when the subject of a conversation were you.

It didn’t take long for Lucien to discover you were mates. Eris made Lucien make an oath that he wouldn’t tell anyone about it, especially you. However, Eris felt relieved for being able to talk to his brother about his concerns envolving you.

When his mate feels the bond

He doesn’t know how to react, it’s like he is paralyzed. It was easy to keep it as a secret when he was the only one aware of the bond, but once you felt it to and confronted him about it? Eris has to make a decision if he’s going to live in the midst of the terror his father’s cause or choose to be with you.

And he chooses you. Even if he’s scared for you being hurt, the heir of the Autumn Court is ready to face Beron. Eris will burn the whole world to keep you safe if he must, even if you decide to not accept the bond.

When his mate accepts the bond

Eris never felt this type of hapiness before. The matebond is the purest piece of his life, a part of his soul that wasn’t corrupted. Eris feels like he was wandering alone in the dark for a long time, but once he has you by his side, Vanserra realizes that he never will have to be alone again. He loves and trusts you more than anything.

Once you hand him a piece of an apple pie you made for him in a signal to acceptance, Eris give it a small bite before colliding his body against yours. You not only find out that Autumn Court males really have fire in their veins, but also that it’s one hard to extinguish.

Things he loves to do with his mate

He loves to spend every available time with his mate. His favorite thing is when you tell about your past and he finds out a new information about you, affectionately saving it in his memory

Eris also loves to go out with you to walk with his dogs (that turn into your dogs as well) at the sunset, to go on travels together and when you have time to drink some tea together, so can he tell you how his day went. Similar to Azriel, Eris adores his mate’s company.

Eris loves the sensation of when he tugs the bond randomly, just to check how you are and receives another tug in answer.

Does he often gets jealous?

He is a pretty confident male and trusts you a lot, so it’s rare for him to feel jealous. If someone flirts with you, Eris will either wait for you to dismiss the person or coolly approach you with a mischevious grin, placing a hand on your waist while the person who was flirting with you gets pale as they realize you are the future High Lord’s mate

Favorite body part

He genuinely thinks you’re perfect, like you’re made for him. However, Eris is truly obsessed with your mouth, not only because he loves to kiss it, but also for every smile you give.

DEFINITELY INTO PDA. Eris doesn’t care if you’re in public, he will always demonstrate affection towards you, loving to feel the warmth of your body against his skin. It is impossible for him to stay away, mostly after he forced himself to keep his distance from you for so long as soon as he felt the bond.

He says it a lot but I think he would rather demonstrate it by acts, throught quality time, gift giving (a lot) and physical touch (also a lot).

Protectiveness

If Beron still alive, Eris will constantly worry about your safety. You are definitely being escorted by a trustful guard chosen by Eris himself if you need to go somewhere in the Autumn Court and he can’t accompany you.

At some point, you got really pissed off to always having a shadow following you everywhere and ended up fighting with Eris. He understands and agrees it’s too much, realizing it’s better for you to learn to defend yourself, becoming independent.

By the way, he is super proud when you start to kick the Autumn guards asses.

Random bonus

Eris is not only a great dancer, but also a great teacher, so he will teach his mate all the Autumn Court traditional dances. He looks foward for the time of the dance training sessions with you, barely being able to wait to guide you in the new dance steps.

He loves to show off his mate during every ball, you two dancing in perfect synchrony while the crowd that watches you gets breathless.

Baths with Azriel are an intimate moment that you share, a way to enjoy each other's company without interruptions.

It became a routine, practically a tradition to bath with the spymaster whenever he comes back from some long mission or from the Court of Nightmares. Of course, you also do it in other circumstances, but in these specific moments is when he most needs to be around you.

As usual, Azriel wakes up in the middle of the dawn. The sky still dark and the birds asleep in silence. He looks at you, peacefully sleeping on his chest and can’t avoid a smile to appear. This is his favorite way to wake up, when the first thing Azriel eyes see is you.

The cold temperature outside makes him pulls the covers up, covering your bare shoulders. Azriel stare at your face, putting a lock of hair behind your ear and gently stroking your cheek. He moves his caress to your back and you immediately snuggle closer to him, squeezing your arm around his waist.

How Azriel acts around his mate

i’m thinking of turning this into a series so let me know if you guys would be interested (you can also choose which character i should do next)

At the moment he finds out

Azriel couldn’t hide the surprised look on his face. It was the first time in a while the spymaster got speechless. Az is most likely to create a ragged excuse and leave as soon as possible (yes, he’s definitely panicking), going to some isolated place to understand that he finally found his mate.

How he acts?

Azriel definitely doesn’t know how to act around his mate once the bond snaps. He probably will act very awkward at the beginning, not knowing if he should tell his mate about it (considering they didn’t felt the bond yet) or wait until they realize.

Therefore, Azriel will need some time to digest that he finally has a mate. Az feels really insecure, thinking he’s not good enough for them and believing they won’t accept the bond. Even so, Azriel really tries to be the best he can to his mate, he’s always there, showing support at every situation. He’s also very kind and just wants to see his mate happy.

Will he tell anyone?

No. Az will hide it as much as he can. Azriel is a very private person and probably wants to figure out this new situation by himself. On the other hand, he knows how his brothers are a pain in the ass, so Az rather avoid to listen to the stuff they’re going to say. At least until his mate discover the bond by themself, he won’t talk about it, preventing them from ending up knowing from someone else

But once his mate accepts the bond Azriel’s behavior changes completely, he’s almost announcing to the world, constantly touching his mate in public.

When his mate feels the bond

He’s scared. Really, Azriel never felt this type of fear his whole life, to be rejected by the person who was supposed to be with him for the rest of his life. However, even if he’s terrified, Az forces himself to be honest about his feelings towards his mate.

He has never opened up that much to someone before, exposing an extremely vulnerable side.

If his mate needs some time, he will be very understandable and wait as long as necessary. Az will never pressure his mate to accept the bond or even give him an answer (please he’s the biggest gentleman out there).

When his mate accepts the bond

Az finally feels complete. His mate is his family, the person he trusts the most and is willing to do anything only to make them smile.

As i said before, Az didn’t feel enough for his mate, so he always thought they wouldn’t accept to be bonded to him forever. Honestly, he’s in a deep state of happiness, it’s like he’s finally found his home, his place in the world.

Headcanons are personal opinions about how a character behaves, usually in specific scenarios of the writer’s choice. These opinions can be backed up by canon content or be based on vibes! The BEST part about headcanons is that they are completely up to you. You don’t have to worry about being right or wrong because you’re sharing how you feel about that character! It’s canon in your head! Get it?

Headcanons are also a great place to start if you want to write something but don’t want to commit to writing something super long. In fact, headcanons are a great step towards developing drabbles and longer writing (both of which we will cover in future posts!)

WritingSeaSlugs wrote an extensive guide on headcanons here. (They write for a different fandom!) Please go read the full thing if you want a detailed guide. Here is a highlight from their post!

Prompt: Figure out your prompt. Go find a prompt list or get an idea/request/whatever works.

Characters: Choose your characters. Character select that shit, homies; you can do all your favorites or every character in the series. It doesn’t matter.

How Many Bullets: Decide how many bullet points you want to do. This is gonna simplify it and keep things consistent across the board for you. I like to go for about three to five bullet points on average since it’s not overwhelming, especially when doing many characters.

The Formula: This is gonna sound weird, but make a “formula.” Have a question to answer for each bullet you decide on. If you want three bullet points for your headcanons, write down three questions. Sometimes I type the questions first, and that’s how many bullets I have. I switch it around sometimes to keep things fresh.
