Catherine and Ginny
The film shows us the dynamics between Catherine and Ginny over two summer vacations that they spent in Ginny's Parents' lake house.
Catherine comes to Ginny seeking some warmth where she could curtail herself and feel safe after her father's death and break up. Ginny who has never seen Catherine in such pain and chaos before, doesn't know how to handle her. She tries making salad for her but it isn't helping Catherine.
There is more tension when Rich, the guy Ginny is seeing enters their space. Catherine totally hates this guy and somehow manages to make us also hate him. This is when, Catherine and Ginny keep rewinding back to last summer, when Ginny needed her the most. But then, Catherine couldn't be there for her because she was busy holding hands with her boy friend.
Ginny and Catherine feel as if they are meeting each other for the first time. Pain, greif and depression makes one unpleasant to be with, for nobody yet has figured how to deal with it. Some let it coagualte aroud them and some just lock it in a treasure box and put it in their armpits for it to decay and stink there. Catherine here takes all of it and put it on her face and let it grind her face bones.
