I love how half the people commenting about how Dream is “Ugly” on Twitter are literally teenage girls with high unrealistic expectations for men because they were raised on evenly chiseled chins and six packs in our media today. Also love how the other half is people who do truly find him unattractive and bash him after they convinced him for YEARS to show his face because they “love no matter what.”
It’s ok to find someone unattractive. It’s ok to be disappointed because they didn’t meet what you expected of them (even though I don’t think you should’ve had any expectations in the first place!!) But what isn’t ok is to tell someone to harm themselves, get facial reconstruction, close down a channel they have worked hard on for years, or hide behind your f*cking 2010 ASUS laptop making tweets about how he finessed you when in reality you finessed him into thinking you all would support him no matter his looks.
And don’t even get me started on when someone offends your looks and all of the sudden “looks don’t matter, it’s what’s on the inside that matter,” bull shit. You’ve lost all the rights to say that after you hit reply. Also, do you think this makes him look bad? No. It exposes what people have been saying for years now: That YouTube fans are one of the most toxic communities today. You think corpse or any of those other faceless influencers you see are going to reveal themselves now? Hell no.
You have taken this man, built him up enough to be comfortable in his own skin, and then when he does as you asked you tear him to pieces. Shame on you.
Again, it’s ok to not find him attractive. It’s not ok to become a cyber bully or promoter of self harm because of it.
That is my rant for today.
