it’s time for me to change, to finally start growing into the person i was meant to become. things definitely take time but i feel like it’s time to create new ways to work towards who im truly meant to be… taking my time with myself and my life handling it with grace and gentleness, especially with no distractions. self love is the best love. i want to create a safe space for me to express myself and actually be happy with who i’m becoming while praying, manifesting, and meditating 🫶🏾💕🫦

Random University Story:
I just graduated with a Masters in Healthcare Management in April of this year. I walked across the stage last April. This was done because I was actually suppose to be finished September 2019. Last year right before I started my finals my father died. I was taking two master classes, finance and healthcare statistics. I WAS STRESSED OUT! Both of my professors were white, a white woman and a white man. I wrote them letting them know that my final paper would be late due to me losing my father, grieving, and having to travel. I also reached out to the University about this matter. They didn’t believe me. I had to call the hospice facility that my father died in and asked them to email my university the details of my fathers date including date and time.
Finally, they gave me 1 month to finish everything up. The day before my father’s wake I was out of state stuck and staring at my laptop because my mind and soul just weren’t in it. I had two final papers to write and I was devastated. The Dean of the university was the only authority figure that had any sympathy for me (She is a black woman). I was scared that because of how my mind was all over the place that I wouldn’t do great on one of my papers and especially because the whole semester my professor was grading me hard. The Dean did me a favor.... she went in the system and printed out the papers from the white students in the class and told me to use their papers as a guide to finish up. You guys... when I tell you ... I was reading their papers like WTF!!! These people made no sense in their work! Their papers were trash! Yet, the professor haves them great grades! I just couldn’t believe it.
I could complain nor could I call it out because I would implicate my amazing Dean! I couldn’t let everything she did for me put her in trouble. Long story short I went on to finish my final and guess what!!!!! MY PROFESSORS STILL FAILED ME BY 1 POINT!! All of my hard work. The fact that I couldn’t properly grieve the death of my father . At that point I didn’t care. I told myself that this is the country I’m currently living in. This is what I expected. I’m not a victim. I kept pushing and the next semester I passed both classes with As. God knew what he was doing because I saved more money and got more on my taxes that semester because of those two classes. Saved that money and paid for my BBL! 💅🏾
Basically I wrote this to say, racism is systematic! We as Africans/Black people don’t have power unless we create it. Other races, specifically whites, have the power to control our lives, systemically in this country. Actually even outside of this country. They have shed blood, murdered, raped, stolen land and people, and expanded to get this power. 1 can turn into 2, then 2 can make a whole community of people who WILL go against you when they are called to. And what can you do about it? NOTHING! So guess what? Keep pushing! Keep going! And don’t be a damn victim! Learn history and study people around you. Don’t expect anything of anybody! Make your own moves! Don’t wait for validation! Make your own validation! This is your life , please take control of it! Be strategic! If you can’t beat them all, beat some of them! Get in there and get square ! We can do ANYTHING because this was our world FIRST and it will be our world LAST!💫
