Every day as a black woman, wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sibling, auntie, cousin, and friend I pray to make it home. I pray my loved ones make it home. Our education, professional success, and other accoutrements do not add value to our lives in the eyes of those who seek to destroy our race. The blood of Blacks continues to be shed in the name of hatred. Non-POCs do not understand the level of PTSD and mental anguish we face while maneuvering through daily activities. Just the struggles we as POC face just to show up…to work, church, school, or even shop is baffling. We bear a smile, perform, and conceal too well.
