The world of Hollow Knight is one of my all-time favorites, so decided to design an area that I would love to see and explore in that setting while I impatiently wait for Silksong’s release!
With this project, I challenged myself to build a whole scene from the ground up. I wanted my scene to be at home in the Hollow Knight world, but also wanted to pick a biome that hadn't yet been used in the series. I ended up going with an Egyptian-inspired hot spring loosely based on Khepri, the scarab-faced ancient Egyptian god who represents the rising or morning sun and the renewal of life. I thought it would be cool to explore the idea of the hot springs being inside a temple with an an altar to some mythic or historic figure, now long abandoned with parts of the ceiling and other structures collapsing and the foliage getting overgrown. It now only serves as a place of rest and renewal for those who stumble across this forgotten oasis.
The assets and waterfall animation were drawn in Procreate, then edited and assembled into layers in Photoshop. Once that was done, I animated the parallax and particle effects in After Effects.
Here’s a concept project from over the summer that I forgot to post here - a lighthouse on an island, inspired by one of my favorite games, Disco Elysium!
I imagined this lighthouse on one of the smaller island chains in the northern oceans of Insulinde, maybe near/above Laurentide. The single keeper stays on the island alone, the nearby village unable to afford more than one keeper. Though she spends most of her days in solitude, she enjoys her peaceful life managing the upkeep of the island and lighthouse. She collects textiles from all over Elysium from the traders who come to the nearby port. Decorating her living quarters with them, her colorful collection creates an oasis of all isolas in one remote lighthouse.
Just realized I never shared the work from the class I took back in the spring, so here’s the second half! We had to design an interior and exterior space inspired by an existing game, so I chose Horizon Zero Dawn.
I wanted to explore synergy between the "old-world" and the new, as well as pick a different place in the world than North America, so I settled on a village formed around an oasis created from the ruins of an old research lab deep in the deserts of northern Africa.

I haven’t been able to draw regularly for like, a month now due to wrist pain, which has honestly been infuriating. When I can draw most of my time is dedicated to chipping away at various projects, but I did manage to scribble this incredibly crunchy Terezi. It felt nice to just let go and have fun with a vibe instead of caring about accuracy or polish.
A small personal project where I challenged myself to draw an object in multiple styles. I chose to be inspired by the background styles of different genres of animation :>
