Wildly popular Japanese artist Kaneoya Sachiko is gearing up for her first North American release.
The Art of Kaneoya Sachiko has just gone live on Kickstarter, with a 15-day barnstormer of a funding period. It’s on a mission to greenlight a 224-page volume of work, hand-selected by the artist herself, and spanning over a decade of her career. Iron Circus Comics, the publisher famed for earning over one million dollars on Kickstarter over the span of 15 comic and comics-related projects, has chosen Kaneoya as the subject of their first art book release ever, and are promising a true object d'art in return for backer cash: gloss, reticulation, and gilded edges, along with an as-yet-to-be-announced bonus exclusively for Kickstarter backers.
The book contains tons of previously-unpublished work, plus a foreword from Kaneoya herself. Whether you’re a longtime fan of this artist’s compelling and provocative output, or brand-new to her uniquely mesmerizing work, there’s a lot to see here.
Check it out now on Kickstarter! Miss the project’s ultra-brief two-week funding period, and you’ll have to wait for the book to hit stores in September… and miss out on those mysterious stretch goals.
Hey guys! A few years ago I had the pleasure to work with Bad Influence Press on their Steve/Bucky zine, BROOKLYN, and again later on their Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter anthology, RAW.
I have a few contributor copies of RAW left that I’m looking to sell for $25.00 plus shipping to wherever you are. It’s a absolutely gorgeous hardcover book with over 200 pages of unique fic and art by over 50 contributors. The gold foil embellishments and ribbon bookmark make this a lovely work of fandom, and I hate to give mine up, but my dog needs minor surgery more than I need these copies, and it can’t wait for a convention.
Message me if you’re interested in a spare copy!
i hate self identified “nerds” because they give their cats shit names like Sherlock, or Katniss, instead of proper cat names like Weed, or Dirt Man, or 2018 Ford F-150 Supercrew
Making calls is really scary but I just called all 3 of my senators/representatives about the appointment of a white nationalist to Trump’s administration and it took 4 minutes start to finish. I used this script. I was only scared for 4 minutes, and I had a script!
I would encourage you to also be scared for 4 minutes and make your calls today, if you haven’t already.
what you can do to prevent a white supremacist from working in the white house
A white supremacist like Steve Bannon should be unacceptable as chief strategist in the White House, whether you supported Trump or not. President-elects have had to back down on appointments before, for comparatively minor reasons. Let’s not assume this is a done deal.
Social media activism can help raise awareness, but concrete action is important. My friend offers these steps you can take to prevent this appointment:
1) If you live in the US, call your Senators and Representatives and tell them this is unacceptable. Note that the Senate must approve Cabinet appointments: http://www.senate.gov/senators/contact. [See script at end of post. Also, I know this isn’t a Cabinet post but it’s still important to register your objection.]
2) Paul Ryan is feigning ignorance again. Call his office at (202) 225-3031 and let him know that this is not ok. Same with Majority Leader McConnell, (202) 224-2541.
3) Call out the media when they report the Bannon appointment as a straight news story or refer to him as a “Breitbart executive” or a “provocateur,” but don’t call him what he is: a white supremacist, anti-Semite, and misogynist. Don’t let them normalize.
4) Where protests are ongoing, make this a focus, with signs, chants, etc. Speak out on Twitter, Facebook, and other social media platforms.
5) Reach out to any groups you know that might join this effort, from religious groups to community organizations.
6) Contact other people of influence—college presidents, high-profile coaches and anyone else who has a public megaphone—and ask them to speak out against Bannon’s appointment.
7) Sign and share this petition from the Southern Poverty Law Center: https://www.splcenter.org/stephen-bannon-has-no-business-white-house
*If you are unsure of what to say when you call your reps, here is a script that worked for someone else:
“Hi! My name is redacted and I am a constituent of Rep. Smith’s. I’m calling to see if and when he’ll be condemning the appointment of Steve Bannon to the White House.”
Them: The Congressman isn’t in yet today and I’m not sure anyone has had a chance to ask him.
“When you do, please also remind the Congressman that he has Jewish constituents in his district, including me, and we are highly concerned about having a white nationalist in the White House.”
Them: Hold please.
Them: Yes, just checked again, and we are not sure his response.
“OK. Well, I’d like a call back, [gives info] and I hope the Congressman is looking carefully at what this man has said and what he believes.”
Today’s lunchbreak sketching features a be-mulleted spaceman wearing his boots in a bathtub. I need to finish Voltron because everyone has excellent brow game.
Happy to post this new piece today. Based on a poem by a good friend of mine! They showed me this poem in chat a week or so ago and I knew I had to make something. It’s based on the show/comic Haikyuu!! and can be read here.
Robin is very astute with the way they observe people and characters, real and fictional, and it’s always inspiring. They write the kind of poetry that makes me want to print it out and keep small copies of it in my sketchbook (which is something I occasionally do with poems I like). I knew I was going to make something based on one of their writings and then they sent me this poem and this drawing jumped out of me.
For folks who liked my Banquet piece, this is the last week I will be selling it before I take it down from my print shop ~
Hey folks! Just a heads up–I will be reducing the amount of pieces available in my INPRNT shop in the next week. I’m not taking everything down, but I am cleaning house.
The screenshots above are from some of the pieces that will be disappearing from the shop soon, so if you were thinking of picking one up, now is the time.
