WIP: Last Sentence
Rules: Post the last sentence you wrote (fanfic / original / anything) and tag as many people as there are words in the sentence.
Thanks for tagging me @burntheedges! You’ve seen this already, but I’m gonna share it with everyone. It’s spicy, so under the cut…
Tumblr media
(Yes the paragraph starts with an ellipsis; it’s rather the pinnacle moment so I reserve the right to get carefree with the punctuation 😝)
…and he recalls your words in the cantina earlier as he asserts, “I fight well…” There’s a hiss, and then — holy stars — the tickle of his breath against your ear as his unmodulated voice growls, “…and I fuck well.”
Yep, I’m finally writing some smut! Din is a dab hand at the dirty talk in this one.
Tumblr media
Hoo boy, 39 people to tag! Okay, in typically autistic fashion, I’m gonna scroll through my activity and tag my last 39 interactions with any mutuals who write (and aren’t already on Kate’s list) and then make them into nice little alphabetical groups of 5. Don’t judge me.
No pressure y’all ❤️:

Chapter Eleven
Eziriel is grumpily eating her breakfast. She got up at a ridiculous hour, long before the sun was meant to rise, to ride to the skyport and pack all the supplies she and the Mandalorian would need. She knew that he planned to leave in the morning after dropping his kid off with Nora and she wanted to make sure she had the skyship ready by then.
She had packed provisions into bags with the assumption that this task would take no longer than seven days. She honestly had no idea how long a bounty hunter took to catch a bounty, but if it took longer than seven days she would personally either grab something from a beacon station supply cache or take the few hours by skyship back to Helix to grab more supplies.
She had put away the drop-seats in the drop bay and packed the speeder bike into that area of the skyship. The ship was pretty small, but the Forest of Ga’ladora was very dense. She was sure she should be able to fly him close enough to the last known evidence point to drop him off with the bike to help his descent while she found a close place to land.
She did most of these tasks with a sense of smoldering rage. Amarian and her were discussing the lost Imperial TIE pilot on their way home from work the day before. After she voiced her concerns over her growing state of paranoia after returning to work and not knowing how to act amongst a potential betrayer, he admitted his frustration with the missing Imp and how he was irritated at the team of Enforcers’ lack of results. Eziriel thought they were just commiserating together over related woes until Amarian joked about hiring the Mandalorian to fix both of their problems; he could hunt down the TIE pilot and Eziriel would have to go with him due to her oath binding herself to his safety. Eziriel laughed, thinking there was no way Amarian would use her oath to the Mandalorian as a way to sneak her out of the office so quickly after being gone for weeks just so she can avoid the tension there.
But the bastard kriffing did it.
Eziriel knows an argument with the Mandalorian is coming. She did not discuss her coming with him on this trip and knows that there is going to be pushback from the man, and she completely understands. She does not want to be put in a dangerous situation. She is not someone who looks for risks to be heroic, she is the type of person to help come up with a plan and send people on their way with useful toys. So she knows she will have to sell her coming in a way that the Mandalorian is going to have to accept, and by the time she is finished with her labor, she thinks she's gotten her argument fully prepared.
It was an overall exhausting morning, but she took a moment of serenity, sitting at the edge of the launchpad and letting the rising sun warm her skin as she ate her breakfast in the quiet of the morning. Trying hard not to dwell on the impending argument from a stubborn man and about how much she enjoyed his presence interacting with her family last night.
After scheming with Amarian about the hunt and the supplies the Mandalorian needed to complete it successfully, they had a hearty dinner where Amarian offered the Mandalorian a table to eat in his locked study with the audio patched into the dining area. With how used to the disembodied voice of CHI the family was it was very easy to integrate the Mandalorian’s input into conversation. He did not speak much, but he asked more about the farming district where Nora grew up and how the agricultural council operated. This led to a boring discussion that Eziriel bailed out of in favor of making her niblings and the green child laugh with silly faces. It was a familiar type of evening that she missed while she was away trying to source the Cloak’s glitches. So she is extra annoyed she has to leave the familiarity of it so quickly because of Amarian using the Mandalorian.
By the time she is finished with her breakfast, Eziriel has built up the mental fortitude she knows she needs in order not to take out her frustrations upon another person. Taking one last moment to watch the late summer sunlight up Helix for the day, she stands up and goes to start running the preflight check on the small skyship.
════════════════════════════════════
“What are you doing here?” the Mandalorian’s voice asks out from the small cabin of the ship and she looks up from underneath the console to catch him placing a forearm onto the upper part of the door frame to lean in. “Don’t you have work?”
“Yep,” she says nonchalantly, hauling herself into the pilot seat and turning it to face him. She stares at him for a moment before continuing, “But I can review project updates during our flight.”
She watches his whole body still as he stares down at her and she feels a spike of worry come off him before he finally says in a stern voice, “No.”
“Yes,” she responds.
“You are not coming with me,” he demands.
“Hey Lori, I don’t want to come at all–”
“Great, problem solved,” he interrupts before grabbing her and pulling her out of the pilot seat.
“But I am sworn to your safety.” She explains, planting her heels into the ground and pulling herself out of his grip, knowing full and well that he isn't giving his full strength. She sits back down in the chair and gives him a scolding look. “We have gone over this.”
“What I do is too dangerous for some princess to ride along on,” he says in a frustrated tone. Leaning over into her space he plants his hands on the armrests, caging her into the seat. “This is dangerous and your silly superstitions have no place in it. Go home.”
Eziriel feels her facial features go heavy in anger at the condescending tone he is giving her and she has to take a breath before she lashes out. She’s used to being talked down to at work by her higher-ups or political snobs who want to use her for whatever skeezy plot they desire, but she expected more from those she considers friends. Yes, she has teased the Mandalorian, but has never patronized him like this before and it is insulting that he is doing it to her. She has been nothing but respectful to him and his more devout followings of his culture, just for him to throw hers in her face. There is a twinge of regret she feels from him that grows as she stares up at him in silence and she leans in close enough to him that her nose almost touches his helmet.
“The stakes of my honor are not superstition to me,” she states in a low threatening voice. “I thought a Mandalorian would understand that and would not insult it. Just as we do not insult how others' honor might be recognized in their culture,” she finishes with a flick to the side of his helmet to drive home her point and glares at him.
That small sliver of regret she feels in him cracks into remorse, but that initial spike of worry clouds his aura and she can understand where his harsh words came from. They stay there, him looking down at her still caging her in and her staring at the T in his helmet hoping she is meeting his eyeline. He finally drops his head forward and lets out a familiar sigh that Ezirial is starting to recognize as exasperated concession.
“I can tell that you are good at your job and my being there will be distracting enough to make it more dangerous for you, and ultimately go against my oath to your safety. That is why I feel I can keep you most safe by flying you to the locations you are needed and giving you backup from the safety of the skyship,” she explains her logic to him. “I have no intention of being on the ground with you hunting this person. My way of keeping you safe is to keep an open comm with you so I know if I need to give you transport, tech, or supply assistance.”
Eziriel gently raps her knuckles on his helmet, getting him to look up before continuing, “Come on, do you really think I am foolish enough to think a Mandalorian needs defensive protection? And that I would be the top choice for that position?” She makes a soft scoffing noise from her lips to show her feelings for that scenario.
“Having transport backup would be nice, so I don’t have to haul the bounty all the way back to where I initially parked the ship,” he admits to her and stands back up to his full height.
“I do seem to thrive as your personal chauffeur. Maybe I should consider a career change,” she quips while turning her attention to the console to start closing the loading ramp and begin her ignition checklist. “Plug in the coordinates that Amarian sent you into the navigation.”
“I am sorry I disrespected your beliefs,” he says softly, ignoring her command. He lowers himself into the copilot seat keeping his helmet on her and she can feel the remorse in both his words. “That was a cruel thing to do. Especially since I know you are just trying to help.”
“Thank you,” she answers just as softly, almost taken aback at his genuine, eloquent apology.
“But,” he starts and she inwardly cringes waiting for another argument. “If there comes a moment where you cross paths with the target, you must listen to me.”
Eziriel looks at how he is leaning in her direction from his jumpseat. He is tense and while his anxiety over her coming has lessened dramatically, he is still nervous. He cares, at least somewhat, about what happens to her.
“I will,” she agrees and smiles at him. “Didn’t know you cared so much Lori. I think you are starting to like me.”
“I just don’t want to create a political incident by getting the princess killed,” he says with a dry tone before turning to put in the coordinates, and for the first time since they met, Eziriel reads a lie off of the Mandalorian.
════════════════════════════════════
Since they were flying with a smaller planet-side ship within the troposphere they were looking at a four-hour trip to get to the crash site in Ga’ladora’s Canyon. The Mandalorian wanted to inspect the site itself to see if he could glean anything that the Enforcers missed.
The first hour was spent planning, starting with potential drop spots from the most recent planetary scans. The bottom of the canyon of the area they were going is too unstable with its rocky foundation for the weight of the ship, but there were a few options where Eziriel could lower into the canyon enough to drop the Mandalorian on the speeder bike so long as there haven’t been any recent collapses of one of the stone pillars that litter the canyon floor with debris.
After solidifying the drop plan, she then shows him some of the options for landing to set up a base camp near where he will land. The closest one, and the agreed upon one, is miles away in a small meadow in the woods that the Mandalorian will have to take one of the steep trails out of the canyon to reach.
She then gives him a small lecture accompanied by a slideshow on her datapad of any flora and fauna that reside in the Forest of Ga’ladora that were dangerous and what to do if he sees one. She doesn't have to see his face to know that he rolled his eyes several times at her presentation, but she does know that he is smart enough to take her warnings to heart.
For the rest of the trip, they sit in the small cabin as Eziriel works through her backlog of project updates from her DefTech team while the Mandalorian sits cross-armed with his helmet pointed at the front viewscreen while some percussion focused music thumps quietly over the comm system. She doesn’t know if he is dozing or just staring out the window but she cannot figure out how he remains so very still for such a long time. She is trying to figure out how long it has been since he last moved when his borrowed comm beeps at him and he slightly flinches. Ahh, dozing then, she thinks with a small grin as he looks at the comm and sighs with a shake of his head.
“Your brother is nearly as irritating as you,” he remarks. “‘Hope you like your pilot, she was desperate to fulfill her council-mandated community service.’” She snorts at Amarian’s message spoken with the dry unimpressed tone of the Mandalorian.
“I am still the reigning terror, I hope,” she says with a smile at him.
“For now,” he concedes and sits up a little straighter in his seat to check the ETA til the drop point. She checks it as well and sees they are about half an hour out and that CHI will be notifying her to take control from them shortly.
She stands up and makes her way out of the cabin and into the drop bay. She double-checks the bag she packed for the Mandalorian is strapped tightly to the speeder bike. She doesn’t want him to lose it on the way down or while he is traveling.
“What’s that?” his voice calls out from behind her making her jolt at his unexpected following.
“I packed some provisions for you. Medkit, survival kit, bedroll, and seven days' worth of food,” she lists as she climbs up to sit sideways on the speeder bike. “I just wanted to give you the option of not having to come back to base camp each night, but you will be missing out on actual bunks,” she says as she points to one of the retracted bunks on the side of the drop bay.
“I appreciate your preparedness,” he says. “But I don’t need much on a hunt.”
“Better to have and not need,” she says with a shrug and then holds her hand out to him. “Your vambrace, please”
He is hesitant but turns to lean his hip against the speeder resting one arm behind her and holding out his other arm to her which she gently takes to lay across her lap. Turning her visor on she inspects the vambrace silently and clicks it on to see the user interface he deals with.
“I could have done that for you,” he chastises.
“This doesn’t allow long-range reception or communication, does it?” She asks, knowing the answer at seeing the hardware through his visor.
“No, only proximity-based,” he says and she hums at him and she opens her HolOmni to pull up local holomaps and her dangerous flora and fauna presentation to begin the data transfer between the two.
“I could fix that for you. Make it so you never have to carry a separate comm again. It’s very freeing,” she offers resting her arm against his while they watch the data load. “I could also make your analog interface into a holo projection interface if you’d like. I’m still perfecting the tactility of the holoform, but it’s pretty solid if you aren’t too aggressive. Give it a feel.”
She angles her arm at him and he lifts his arm from her lap and drags his finger across her menu screen of the HolOmni. She looks up at him to make a joke only to realize how intimately close they are. His chest almost touches her arm and his arm rests behind her in a position that is inches away from an embrace. She feels her neck heat up at the observation and hopes he is too focused on interacting with her HolOmni to notice. When he finally draws his attention back to her face she tries to give him a normal smile but there is a small catch of breath that his vocabulator doesn’t pick up but Eziriel barely hears.
“I think that it might be too nice for me,” he says in a quiet voice before lowering his arm down to place it back in her lap, but this time his hand rests on her thigh rather than hanging off awkwardly.
“You are allowed to want nice things,” she says just as quietly and she feels one of his fingers twitch. She tries to compose what to say next when her HolOmni beeps that the file transfer is done. They don’t pay any attention to it and just stare at each other, gauging one another for a few moments before the posh voice of CHI rings through the ship’s comms.
“We are ten minutes from the drop zone, I suggest you relieve me from autopilot.” Eziriel jerks at his voice and the Mandalorian pulls away.
“Right,” she says. “Saddle up Lori, you’ve got a fall ahead of you.” She gives him a grin and hops down from the bike trying to bury that intimate tension that filled the space only moments earlier with their familiar banter.
“I think I can handle that,” he says while mounting the bike as she makes it to the cabin door.
“Hey,” she catches his attention and he looks up at her. “Let the Will of fate guide your way.” He gives her a nod and she slips into the small cabin to begin their complex descent into Ga’ladora’s Canyon.
════════════════════════════════════
Eziriel had just landed after the successful drop-off and was about to start setting up base camp in the area they both agreed upon when the Mandalorian comms in for the first time.
“Change of plans,” he states suddenly into her earpiece.
“Already? It’s been, like, fifteen minutes?” she complains.
“I have a trail and it goes the opposite direction of where you plan to set up camp. I figured you’d want to at least be in the same direction I’m headed,” he explains. “The second location option is in the direction I’m headed if you want to go set up there.”
“Will do,” she confirms. The second location was much further out, but to the south of the canyon next to a small river with just enough space for the small skyship to land. “Amarian said the storm washed away all their tracks, what did you find?”
“Imperial pilots have protocols if they crash. They are to find the closest civilization to make a rescue call. If they cannot find civilization they are to head to the highest point to set up an emergency transponder,” he explains. “However, they are supposed to make discreet marks to show where they are going so they can be tracked by a rescue unit. You wouldn’t notice the marks unless you were specifically looking for them.”
“And you are a smart hunter who knows their prey,” Eziriel says with a smile. She gets the ship back in the air and can’t help but be impressed with him as he explains what he found. A small mark on the lower part of a nearby stone pillar. From that mark alone he was able to determine the initial direction the TIE pilot was headed six days prior.
“A good bounty hunter knows the target’s tactics,” he states simply once he is finished giving her his explanation.
“I guess you weren’t exaggerating when you said you were the best,” she says cheekily.
“I don’t exaggerate,” he says.
“I know you don’t,” she reassures.
════════════════════════════════════
That first night the Mandalorian surprisingly came back to base camp when it was getting late. They had been staying in touch here and there with him giving her updates and her asking him bounty-hunting questions. When night became fully dark he showed up at camp. He claimed he was close enough that it made sense to rest where she was already set up and had a proximity alert, but the way he groaned in relief at laying on the bunk below her told her the real reason was simply comfort and she was glad she could give him that.
The second day he was out as soon as the sun rose, nodding in acknowledgment at Eziriel’s sleepy goodbye wave. She spends most of the day powering through the rest of her reports and pestering the Mandalorian with little jokes and quips just to hear him sigh, but she swears she can hear a smile in that sigh. He spends the day giving her updates and sometimes talking to her about his thought process in tracking the TIE pilot. He eventually found bootprints his HUD could follow and it made his job easier since there weren’t other humanoid tracks to taint the trail. He doesn’t come back to base camp that day and Eziriel is somewhat disappointed to be spending an evening alone.
On the third day, she spends her time working on a few of her own projects while lounging on a rock by the small river trying to soak in the sun’s warm rays. She ends up asking him random questions today during his updates and she finds out that he thinks having favorite things is pointless. But after nagging him she discovers he prefers savory food over sweet, rural areas over city, and nights in over nights out. Even though he claimed he doesn’t have favorite things he was quick to tell her of his preferred weapons and their ideal situation to be used when she asked, and she had to stifle the laugh his brief enthusiasm caused.
During that third day, he deduces that the TIE pilot is headed towards the mountain range south of them to try and set up the emergency transponder. They discuss finding a new spot for her to move to in the direction he is headed, but off the path that he thinks the Imperial is taking. There were three options in the dense woods and she is unsure if some of the choices are still viable after that storm he arrived in.
“I’ll just check them out tomorrow afternoon to see which one works. I can send you the exact coordinates when I land to your comm so you can manually punch it in your vambrace holomap,” she tells him over comms while she eats her evening ration. She gives him an exaggerated sigh before continuing, “Really Lori, let me upgrade your set-up so people can just drop information to you directly. Imagine, no more carrying a separate comm to sync to your kit.”
“It’s never been a problem before,” he says and follows it with a groan of relief that Eziriel assumes is from getting off the bike for the night.
“Streamlining that process could very well save a life,” she states. “You don’t know how much you might need something like that until it’s too late.”
She can practically hear his eyes roll over the comms, before he goes on a small monologue about how he is perfectly fine without her advanced technology and doesn’t need it to be the best at his job. She just listens to his voice lecture her and smiles softly to herself as the moons crest overhead in the night sky.

“I don’t wanna hear it, Mando!” the older woman exclaimed, “Doc, you here? Sit down, would ya? You’re makin’ me nervous. Doc?”
A modulated voice said something she couldn’t make out as she made her way out of the exam room to the waiting area. Peli was facing her, hands of her hips, but her attention immediately went to she silver-clad form of a man sitting on a chair in her waiting room. His head was covered with a shiny helmet, his gloved hands resting on his thighs, and even though she couldn’t read his expression on his face she could see the tension in his form.
“Good, you’re here,” Peli said to her, “My friend Mando here,” she jerked her thumb over her shoulder to the man, “has just informed me that he hasn’t been to a doctor since he was a child, and in his line of work that seems really stupid so I dragged him here, you got time for an exam?”
“Of course,” she said, “but I feel it needs to be said that I don’t usually perform exams on unwilling patients…over the age of 8, that is.” She smirked. And the Mandalorian’s helmet tilted as if in disbelief. He rose to his feet, his full height and breadth unfolding to take up much more space than she’d initially thought.
“Fine,” the modulated voice said, ”Let’s get this over with.”
Peli’s smirk read of something deeper than concern for her beskar-clad friend, but she didn’t have time to parse it for meaning as the Mandalorian made his way toward where she stood in the doorway between the exam room and the waiting room. She stepped aside and held out an arm to usher him into the small room.
“Thanks, Doc,” Peli said, “Send him back my way when you’re done, I’ve got his ship.”
“Will do,” she replied, now understanding more about how Peli was able to manhandle such a large, broad person into her clinic.
The bell above the front door jingled as Peli left, leaving her alone with the Mandalorian. She would’ve been more uncomfortable if it weren’t for the numerous sharp instruments within her reach, as well as the hidden blaster strapped under the exam table.
One couldn’t be too careful on Tatooine.
The Mandalorian was looking around the small room, possibly assessing for threats until she cleared her throat, getting to work mode.
“So I think we can just run a few tests and do a quick workup, nothing invasive. That should placate Peli, at least.”
“Okay,” he said through the modulator, standing stiffly in the middle of the room as she busied herself with grabbing a holopad and passing it over to him.
“Fill this out,” she said quickly, busying herself with grabbing supplies for a blood draw and a retinal scan.
“Um,” the voice said from behind her and she paused, turning toward her patient, “I, uh, I don’t know my birth date.”
“That’s okay, just an approximate age is fine.” She went about her business, prepping a few vaccines and a bacta hypospray just in case while his gloved fingers tap-tapped on the holopad. When she was finished, she turned and leaned back against the counter and watched him as he finished.
It didn’t take a doctor to note the obvious power of the Mandalorian’s body, half-bent over the holopad on the exam table. She scanned his posture, the way he held himself as he tapped with his right hand and noted a few things she wanted to mention. With how well-muscled he had to be under the heavy beskar, she figured he had a physically demanding job, and it was then she remembered Peli mentioning a bounty hunter friend of hers.
He was silent as he finished and passed her the holopad. Under the ‘Name’ field he’d put simply, ‘Mando’ and she couldn’t help the smile that rose on her face. As a race, Mandalorians were notoriously secretive.
Scanning the rest of the info sheet, she saw he mentioned back pain and bad knees as places of concern. Other than that, she didn’t see anything glaringly off.
“Okay, this all looks about right for your estimated age, but I still want to take some blood and update your vaccinations,” she glanced at him from under her lashes and he grunted in what she assumed was assent. “Can you take your, um,” she gestured to the armor adorning his thick arms, not knowing what they were called, “arm pieces off? I’ll need to get in your veins there.”
The Mandalorian hesitated, going eerily still. If she wasn’t mistaken, she thought she heard a sharp intake of breath through the modulator. Tension rose within the room, but she was well-trained so she turned her back to him to offer a little privacy and used the moment to sanitize her hands and pull on a pair of exam gloves, pleasantly satisfied when she heard the clanking of armor being shed and the heavy pieces being carefully placed on the table.
She turned back around and watched him rolling up the sleeves of his flight suit, exposing his  muscular arms up to his biceps and she had to remind herself that she was a professional — salivating over a patient was unethical. With a deep breath she went back into Doctor mode, assessing his arms for easy-to-access veins.
A hiss sounded from him when she palpated his inner elbow and she looked up at his blank t-shaped visor.
“Did that hurt?” she asked.
The helmet shook, “Cold hands.”
She smiled, “Sorry, should’ve warned you. Kind of ironic isn’t it?”
“What do you mean?”
“Considering it’s hotter than a Mustafarian volcano outside,” she explained, pressing further and finding a juicy vein. “Little pinch,” she said, using the prepped needle to pierce his golden-brown skin. If she wasn’t mistaken, she glimpsed the bottom edge of a tattoo hiding under his rolled-up sleeve.
When the vial was full, she pulled the needle out and took some of the prepared bacta gel across the small hole in Mando’s skin, then put a small bandage over it. “That can come off in half an hour. Let me get this sample going so I can get your results before you leave, then we can do the retinal scan.”
She moved toward the far side of the room toward her lab equipment, but a large hand on her wrist stopped her.
“Retinal scan?” Mando asked, helmet tilted in concern.
“Yeah, it’s really quick. Just to make sure your brain function is normal, no big deal,” she explained with a shrug. With how still he once again was, she guessed it was not, in fact, not a big deal to him.
From what little she knew of Mandalorian culture, their armor and weapons were sacred to them but he’d already taken off his arm pieces. Maybe something about the helmet was different?
“I…my Creed, uh, I can’t remove my helmet,” he said haltingly, removing his hand from her wrist.
It was her turn to tilt her head in confusion, “What, like ever? How do you shower?”
“I can take it off, but not in front of other living beings. If I did, I couldn’t put it back on.”
“Oh,” she breathed. She nibbled on her lower lip as she tried to think of a solution. She didn’t want to let him leave without the scan but at the same time she couldn’t ask him to break his Creed for a fifteen-second scan.
“Ah! Okay,” she exclaimed as an idea came to her. She grabbed the scanner off of its charger and put it on the exam table in front of him. “I’ll step out, you remove your helmet and run the scan yourself. It’s easy,” she said, sensing his hesitation, “Push this button here and hold the scanner in front of your eyes until it double beeps, about fifteen seconds, then you put your helmet back on and I’ll come back. Think that’ll work?” she asked, looking up at his visor hopefully.
After a few seconds, he replied “Yeah. That’ll work.”
Her smile widened and she nodded, “Let me get your blood tests going and then I’ll step out.”
Din’s POV
This was the exact reason he hadn’t been to a doctor since taking the Creed. Every Mandalorian covert had their own stash of medical supplies and were trained in first aid, so it never seemed important. He’d been cursing himself for mentioning his back pain to Peli until stepping into the Doctor’s office.
The fact that she was holding his ship pretty much hostage until he went to the Doctor was only part of what got him here.
To her credit, the Doctor had been respectful and considerate so far — her solution to his issue with the brain scan was simple, but spoke volumes to her character. Having only known her for a few minutes he could tell she was trustworthy, even though something in her eyes spoke of some hidden truths.
Not wanting to keep her waiting in the other room for long, he double checked his surroundings before removing his helmet, pushing the button on the scanner that she’d shown him, and waiting for the ‘beep-beep’ to signal it had finished.
He replaced his helmet and called her back into the room. She swept back in and smiled at him.
“That didn’t hurt too much, did it?” she asked in a joking tone that made him smirk. She was cheeky, this doctor.
“Virtually painless,” he said.
“Good, wouldn’t want to completely scare you off,” she joked again but his breath caught in his throat. She placed the scanner on its charging port and looked at the screen in front of her, assessing the results with a furrow in her brow.
Din took a moment to finally look at her. He’d already noticed how pretty she was, hair drawn back and up off her neck to combat the heat of the Tatooine suns. Her eyes were sharp and intelligent, and every time she’d looked his way he felt like she could see through the beskar he wore. Unknowingly, she’d already locked eyes with him a few times despite his helmet. While she looked over his results, she absentmindedly played with a necklace — some sort of pendant on a long silver chain — he didn’t see any more jewelry.
“Well, your brain looks normal. No irregularities or past concussions showing up, but I guess that’s what the helmet is for,” she said, glancing his way. He nodded.”You mentioned some back pain, which is normal for your age, but I can take a look and maybe get you some pain supplements.”
He nodded again and swept his cape aside, gathering it over one shoulder and exposing his jetpack.
“Well,” she said with a chuckle, “that’ll do it.” She grabbed a different scanner while he took off his jetpack. His entire spine straightened as he felt her fingers ghost along his lower back.
“May I?” she asked, and he swallowed hard, mouth suddenly dry.
“Yes.”
She gently lifted the back of his flight shirt, the coldness of her fingers raising goosebumps along his arms. The scanner she held chirped, and she dropped his shirt back into place.
“Just what I thought,” she said as he pulled the jetpack back on. “Looks like it’s muscular, not spinal, so I’ll throw some anti-inflammatory salve, and if you’d like, some pain supplement. A mild one,” she added.
“Thank you,” he said.
She crossed to a cabinet, bending down to open it and Din averted his gaze. From inside she extracted a small tin and a glass jar, cursing when she found it empty.
“Kriffing hell,” she muttered, “Sorry, looks like I’m out of the pain supplement. Outer Rim supply lines suck.”
“That’s okay,” he offered, but she was insistent.
“I feel bad now, getting your hopes up like that. I have something stronger but I figured with being a bounty hunter you’d want to keep your wits about you.”
“I appreciate that. The salve will do fine for now.”
“I mean, if you ever find yourself in a trading outpost or on Arvala-7, you could get some for yourself. I’ll write down the name.” She busied herself with that for a moment before another mechanical buzzing caught her attention.
“Ah, your blood results!” Fluttering past, she slipped the piece of flimsi into his gloved hand. He caught a whiff of her scent — night-blooming flowers and citrus, with a tinge of sweat.
She pursed her lips, and Din wanted to reach over and pull the bottom one loose with his thumb. All her touches had awakened something in him that he usually kept locked away. “Hmm…looks like you’re a little low on Potassium and a few different vitamins, but no major illnesses or viruses, which is good. No malignant bacteria hiding in your bloodstream either, no parasites…damn, that beskar keeps everything out, doesn’t it?”
She glanced his way, but kept on talking, “I’m still going to recommend a few vaccines, and a bit of a diet change. Let me guess, you mostly survive on ration packs?”
He nodded, “I do.”
“I’m going to suggest eating some more fruits in general, that’ll help with the vitamin deficiencies and the potassium. Ration packs are pretty nutritious, but with your lifestyle you burn through certain things quicker than others, so it’s best to supplement the packs. Just a few more hypos and you’ll be all set to go back to Peli with a clean bill of health. Any other questions or concerns?”
Part of him wanted to ask if she was busy later that night, especially when they locked eyes under his helmet. His mouth went dry, and all he could manage was a shake of his head.
He cleared his throat, “No, no. Thank you, Doctor.”
“You are very welcome, Mando,” she said, handing him a small bag with papers and the salve inside.
“Din,” he offered before he could think about it.
“Hmm?”
He cleared his throat again, “My name is Din.”
Her smile was radiant and Din felt a flutter in his chest. “Nice to meet you, Din. Whenever you need me, I’m here.”
He reached out and shook her proffered hand. “I’ll be sure to take you up on that, Doc.”

Din Djarin Headcanons
Din Watching you with Grogu
Tumblr media
Din has never felt this way before. It's new, it's intense and it's terrifying. How he managed for years in his solitary existence is unfathomable to him now. Grogu entering his life had changed everything. The adorable green gremlin had managed to burrow himself into Din's guarded heart, fanning the flames of warmth that still lurked in there.
In no time at all that warmth had spread to every molecule of Din's being and had turned into love. Love, such a foreign, almost elusive concept, considering the last time Din had felt love was towards his parents. But, yes, love. He loves his son with a passion, a deep rooted well of devotion and affection.
He didn't think it was possible for his heart to expand any further, yet, here he is, watching with rapt enchantment as you cradle and sing to his sleepy son, and all the while Din feels his chest bloom with an incredible warmth that could cause him to spontaneously combust. You are beautiful, without even trying to be!
From the moment Din met you for an unofficial 'interview' in that dusty cantina, he'd felt a strange pull to you. It was a combination of things, really; Your obvious, natural beauty eclipsed the entire room, sure, but your instant rapport and maternal tenderness towards his foundling and your genuine warmth in general, had opened a never before explored region within Din's heart and he knew then and there, he had to offer you a position as Grogu's nanny.
Your melodic voice carries through the hull of the Razor Crest creating an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity, and a sense of home. The Razor Crest has always been just a ship to Din. Somewhere to stay warm, somewhere to eat and sleep and something to get him from A to B. But now with you and Grogu here it's home.
Din could watch you two forever, the blaster pistol in his hand now shining from being over polished. Stars! How he loves you. He didn't realise this kind of love existed, that there can be different kinds of love. You have unknowingly become the very beat of his heart, the air in his lungs, a soothing calm for the chaos that is his life.
For months he's wanted to tell you how he feels, but whenever the opportunity presented itself, he lost his nerve. He's never been a coward in his entire life, until now and he hates that. A normally fearless Mandalorian, who strikes dread and alarm into most people, mentally and emotionally undone, reduced to a nervous boy. This is the effect you have on him. His heart is in your hands. Boy, he never saw that coming.
Grogu finally settles and falls asleep, snoring softly as you lay him in his hammock, and kiss his wrinkled forehead. Closing the door of the sleeping bunk behind you, you turn to face Din, pressing a finger to your lips, followed by a "Shhh...," but also a soft smile and a 'look' that gives him hope. Din hopes he isn't just imagining it, but lately, he suspects you may have feelings for him too. In fact he's becoming more and more certain of it with each passing day.
He continues to clean his blaster (even though it's spotless by now), watching as you disappear into the fresher, as is your nightly routine; Put the baby down, shower and join Din in the cockpit where, over time, you've managed to pull enough conversations out of him that now he enjoys these moments of easy exchange between you both.
He's made his mind up. He will no longer be a coward. Tonight when you join him, he will confess everything to you. He will bare his heart and soul to the woman who has fundamentally changed him on every level, who has brought him to recognise this powerful, all encompassing love. Tonight he prays that his clan of two will become a clan of three.

I woke up to dozens of likes and an ask from them. Then this evening I wondered why I couldn’t find the ask anymore so searched their handle, found this post. Thanks y’all for sharing the warning. Idk why people think they can get away with doing shit like that, it’s vile, especially in a fandom where people recognise each other’s writing. I hope it doesn’t happen to anyone else.
@/freckledtabby just posted a din fic ( they’re new) and it reads familiar but im sure it’s not one of urs
idk sorry paranoia got me seeing things
Aw hi! Weirdly enough they just followed me 😭
That fic isn’t mine but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was plagiarized!
also @/noraispunk is an account copying me too
Edited to add: it’s literally the first chapter of dev’s fic omfg @penvisions

600 Followers Celebration
Tumblr media
Y’all!! This is wild. I realized the other day that I started writing my first fic in my notes app on my phone on 4/11/23. I posted the first chapter of that fic in July last year! I am so grateful for each and every one of you. I get so emotional every time someone reads one of my fics. Thank you for being here and being amazing. And I’m so glad you all like fandom bingo (which is still open)!! 🧡🧡🧡
I wanted to do something fun to celebrate. There are two parts -- vote and ask! I'll tag every post for this celebration with #bte600.
Tumblr media
💗 VOTE: vote on the poll under the cut!!  A week or so ago I did an ask game where people sent me made up fic titles and I told you what I would write for them. Well, I got a little carried away and came up with some ideas I'm actually pretty excited about. So now I want you to vote on which one I should actually write next! The poll will be open for a week.
🧡 ASK: Send me any of the emojis below – send me as many as you’d like! But please send one at a time.
❣️shout out Spread the love around and tell me about a fic, author, fan art, or artist on here that you love!
📜fic rec Give me a fandom and a direction and I’ll give you a fic rec. I’ve got more than 9000 bookmarks on ao3 lol bet I can find something! let me know preferences about ships, ratings, content, etc.
(fandoms I’ve read a lot in over the years: all the Pedro boys, Inception (Arthur/Eames), Captive Prince, LOTR/Hobbit, MCU, X-Men, 00Q, Star Trek (various ships), Mass Effect, The Raven Cycle (pynch), Teen Wolf (lol), Stranger Things, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Check Please!, The Witcher, The Sandman, Sherlock, Stargate Atlantis, RWRB, Merlin, ATLA… and more?)
❓question Send me any question, FMK, ask about a headcanon, ask about one of my fics, how I write, ask for commentary on a scene or line, whatever you’d like – I’ll answer it!
Tumblr media
Remember, 💗 vote on the poll under the cut!!
Let's vote! Which one of these ideas should I work on next? (see more about each at the link) I had to cut one so I cut one of the Frankie ones that was very similar to something I just wrote.
🧡🧡🧡 thanks for being here!

I see that big purple text!! Sexyfuntimes snippet please!! 🙏🏻🫶🏻
If I do multiple reblogs do I get multiple snippets? 😝
Short Debts Make Long Friends - Chapter 19 (part 1)
Tumblr media
Chapter 19: I Don't Need to See Your Face; I Just Need You to Help Me Pretend
This is the big leagues? you were wondering as you followed Mando down the stairs to meet the man himself. This wasn’t even your worst Black Friday, when some asshole decoupaged all the dressing rooms with Christmas-themed hentai and you had to explain to your very, very sheltered manager why the tentacles were wearing Santa hats.
But then Kaba happened, and everything surpassed all the Black Fridays, and your worst nightmares, too.
One minute, the porcine-faced Klatoonian was casually seated at his desk and weighing his options; the next, Mando had shoved you behind him and yelled, “Go!” over his shoulder.
This was your first chance to see the Darksaber in action, but you didn’t need to be told twice. As Kaba’s goons descended, you and D-5 had run for the exit, with full intention of booking it to the usual rendezvous point at the transit station.
You were halfway to the door when you heard it. You knew the sounds Mando made during a fight. Every grunt, every hiss and yelp, even the occasional curse that meant he’d been hurt.
You had never heard that sound from him before.
Autopilot clicked into gear, knocking self-doubt right out of the driver’s seat.
You bolted back the way you came, instantly zeroing in the source of Mando’s agonized cry as soon as you ducked through the transparent strips of curtain – the patch of scorched, glowing flesh on his leg that should have been really well-done CGI, except you knew better.
Short Debts Make Long Friends - An overeducated, underpaid millennial finally gets to go on her first adventure.
Anyone who reblogs gets a DM with a future snippet of their choice! (Humor, angst, sexyfuntimes.) You know you wanna...

I love the idea that everyone in Grogu’s past was always quick to reach out and pat him on the head and provide false promises — Obi-Wan, Anakin, Kelleran, even Dr Pershing. They were all seemingly nice to him but he ended up alone (or abused) every time.
But Din was the first person to exercise caution and not reach out, not offer false comforts or hollow reassurances, he just stayed silent and watched, didn’t try to bond with him or hide who he was when they met.
His reserved approach gave Grogu the chance to consider Din in return and see the good man behind the bounty hunter, someone he’d like to have reach out to him. And he watched the bounty hunter soften.
So when Din did finally reach out, it made Grogu so happy 🥹

Passing Notes: Rope
Din Djarin x gn!reader | 18+ | 1k words | Passing Notes masterlist
Tumblr media
summary: Din ties you up for the first time.
a/n: happy @swiftiscruff gift exchange @davnittbraes! I’ll admit I asked @katareyoudrilling for advice on what to write for this one (and she immediately knew what to do, of course). I hope you like it 🧡
tags/warnings: in depth description of rigging/rope bondage, established relationship, kissing, brief mention of sex, pet names (cyar’ika, mesh’la), the Razor Crest lives, reader kneels and can put their arms behind their back, otherwise not described
...
You steadied yourself with a deep breath. You were nervous, but not in a bad way. Just nervous, full of anticipation, almost vibrating with it where you knelt, completely bare, on a soft cushion on the floor of the ship. It was cold, but a bit warmer than usual with the heating systems turned up. You smiled at the thought of him taking such care for your comfort.
The cargo area of the ship was present in your mind, though you couldn’t see it behind the blindfold. To your right, a few crates, some other things tucked out of the way. To your left, a blanket with supplies that he’d slowly placed with great care before inviting you to kneel and gently covering your eyes with the blindfold. He’d run his hands lightly over your shoulders before promising to be back soon and stepping away towards the fresher to prepare himself.
Your mind danced over the supplies he’d chosen and your heart rate picked up as you traced the shape of the rope in your mind. Remembering the way he’d run his fingers over the entire length of it, just checking, just to make sure, before placing it carefully on the blanket.
You shivered.
The rope, a knife, a ration bar, some water. He was meticulous in his preparation for this, for your first time.
He’d whispered it in your ear a few weeks ago. You’d been blindfolded then too, unable to see him of course, but you’d felt him everywhere. He’d gathered your wrists in one hand and lifted them above your head, and he’d noticed the way you moaned when he’d asked you to keep them there. As he had pressed his body against yours he’d murmured, “would you let me tie you up, cyar’ika? Let me put you where I want you and keep you there, just for me?” His voice had been dark and deep and you’d almost come from that alone. You’d nodded, whimpering.
Later he’d held your hands gently in his as you talked about it, as you’d put into words what you both wanted and what you both needed.
And now here you were, in your own cloth darkness, waiting for him to come back and make it real.
The door of the fresher hissed open and your breath caught. You could hear his footsteps coming towards you steadily, and it took you a moment to realize he didn’t sound the way he normally did. He sounded… softer, somehow. When he spoke, you put it all together.
“You look beautiful like this, cyar’ika.” He spoke quietly into the stillness of the hold and you felt pressure at the back of your eyes at the wonder in his tone. His unmodulated tone. “Mesh’la.” He whispered the praise in Mando’a as he came to stand right in front of you. You could feel the heat from his body radiating off of him; he wasn’t wearing his armor.
You tilted your head back towards his face even though you couldn’t see him.
“Are you ready, cyar’ika?” You felt the air shift and then his fingertips landed lightly on your cheek, trailing a soft path down and tracing the shape of your lips.
You smiled. “Yes, Din.” Your voice was breathy. He kept his fingers at the edge of your mouth as you spoke.
“Good.” You could hear the smile in his voice, too. “We’ll start slow.” You nodded. You remembered what you’d agreed.
Din trailed his fingertips over your chin and around your neck as he moved behind you. You felt him kneel just before his hands closed over your elbows and he gently tugged your arms back, turning them so that your forearms were tucked behind your lower back, uncrossed. Your palms were facing backwards towards him and your forearms rested on the back of your hips. You twisted your shoulders gently but realized the pose wasn’t uncomfortable – you felt a gentle stretch in your shoulders.
“Mesh’la,” Din murmured again, and you smiled. “Stay just like that.”
You felt him lean to his left behind you, one large hand still keeping both of your wrists in place. You pictured it in your mind, wondering if he was grabbing the rope.
The soft hiss of the rope as it ran through his fingers confirmed it. He began to wrap the rope around each of your wrists, securing them in position behind your back. You felt 3 or 4 loops around each wrist before stopping and gathering the two loops together in the middle of your back. He pulled upwards on the gathered loops gently and held them there, putting gentle upward pressure on your forearms, while his other hand looped the rope around your chest twice. It felt loose, until he did something that attached the loops around your wrists to the tightened loops around your chest. You could feel that he was tying them together somehow but couldn’t picture it in your mind.
You felt his hands fall away and gasped. As soon as he was no longer gently tugging at the rope and supporting your arms, you realized that your upper body was completely restrained with only a few loops and knots. Your arms were tucked securely behind your back. You couldn’t move them apart or forward, couldn’t hunch your shoulders. The gentle stretch of the restraint made your eyelids flutter as you sucked in a sharp breath.
“How does it feel?” Din’s voice was deeper than you’d ever heard it. He traced his fingertips down your arms. You could feel the way he was admiring your body in this position that he’d put you in and it made you feel like you were going to float right off the ground.
“Good,” you whispered, and then cleared your throat. “I feel…” you trailed off, trying to put it in words. “Secure.”
Din hummed, and leaned forward to press gentle kisses along your shoulder. You shivered.
“You look beautiful,” he murmured against the bare skin of your shoulder. “Let me show you how beautiful you are, cyar’ika.”
He did.

❤️💛 Din-coded Pedro 💙💚
For all my Din girlies (gn) in honour of the @swiftiscruff Friendship Exchange 💜
Tumblr media
To all my moots on here — those I’ve chatted and bonded with as well as those who are simply mutual followers — no matter how we found each other, I’m profoundly grateful for you all.
I’ve never really been great at initiating interactions, and I generally overthink every post I make, comment I leave, and message I write. Online anxiety rules the mind over here unfortunately. So this is just a little something to say thank you to anyone and everyone who has reached out to me on this platform (or AO3), and helped pull me out of my head and encouraged and inspired me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! 💖
Since Din is our monochromatic metal man, please enjoy this little switcheroo of some moody silvertone Din-coded Pedros matched to some colourful Mandos.

To my gorgeous @burntheedges
I can’t thank you enough for the Din drabble you wrote me for the @swiftiscruff friendship exchange, and if I weren’t suffering from writer’s block I’d try my hand at writing a missing scene for you in return, but instead I’ve gone visual and made you a mood board. I’m nowhere close to as good on Canva as you are, but I hope you like it anyway!
Maintenance Request is one of my all time favourite fics, and given I’m primarily a Din girlie, that just shows you how much I love your Joel in this story and how perfectly you’ve written him.
Lots of love 🫶🏻
