Queen of Tears is really saying maybe it's not a dream to marry an emotionally-distant, traumatized, horrible-family-having, only-loves-you rich person (like every other drama has sold) because love didn't fix them and when their life gets tough and they are traumatized again they'll regress into their old habits and also having that horrid family around all the time will very slowly crush your soul until you start to imagine that the only escape is your spouse dying of an incurable disease because that is the only way you'll ever get a clean break and get your life back because the lack of overt affection is literally killing you inside.

Susannah just wants everything to be perfect without trying to build that perfection from scratches but just pretending that the broken pieces are perfect...

I think Susannah pushed Conrad towards Belly towards him is because she sees herself in Belly and Conrad is so much like Adam (not completely like him because Adam is the worst). She and Adam didn’t work out because Adam was Adam and now she wants another form of their relationship to work with Conrad and Belly. I think Susannah thinks it might be parenting failure if Conrad also turns out like Adam and makes the same mistakes with Belly and stays emotionally unavailable etc etc.

I know this is a harsh take but well.

Something I find irritating is how Conrad hates Adam for cheating on Susannah but wasn't good at being faithful when he played both Nicole and Belly and he has the audacity to slut shame his brother. Also, when I read more about how Adam treated Jeremiah in the books it was worse than what they showed in the show. 🙄

THIS IS FACTS !! Belly thinking of Conrad as ‘the sun’ shows that it was never a healthy relationship. Belly literally revolved her life around Conrad, just like the sun and earth. She thought she needed him to live, thought she couldn’t live without him, when really, she’s just been told her whole life that her worth relies on this boy and she was brainwashed into thinking that she couldn’t be belly without Conrad. It’s a bunch of bs.

But with jere, she gets to just be belly and he loves her for it. He lets her shine and he treats her like A PERSON, not an object for his pleasure when we he decides he wants some love and affection. Belly felt like for the first time that she could CHOOSE when she chose Jeremiah. She finally realised ‘the future is uncertain, but it’s still mine’ she’s now just ‘belly’ not ‘Conrad’s belly’ and if you can’t see the importance of that, then you need a talk with yourself

This bothers me a lot. There’s no relationship between them in books. It’s just flashbacks of them and they’re not even official. It’s just them meeting each other and more like situationship thing. Idk why Jenny Han tries to tell us that they’re endgame without showing it us. They make no sense for me

If Jeremiah is an unreliable narrator (technically everyone is one, thats how humans work), then there is also substantial proof to show that Conrad is as well, even w/o his narrated episode being out. He misrepresented/outright lied to Belly about Jeremiah being fine w and being on a “high” since homecoming. Conrad even admitted that he always “assumes” and should’ve looked harder to see his brothers pain from the last year.

Istg, when it comes to the part where conrad will narrate in s3, they will say that he's reliable. I won't see Jeremiah as an unreliable narrator. His speech was straight taken from the book, but somehow, they forgot that they changed the story s1, so they had to do I'm his narration as well

Agree, like why are you lying to your girlfriend that jere is fine when he's not? I feel like that it was so damn selfish, and some people call him not selfish. Plus, even when his mom was dying, he cared only about his feelings. He didn't even care about his mother's. He knows that all Susannah wanted is to have perfect summer when she can pretend like everything is fine and spend her last summer in peace with people she loves. But even here he smoked, was drunk and high by making his mom worry about him. If he cares, why couldn't he at least pretend or talk with his mom? If my dearest people were dying, I would try to make their last moment with me happier and more memorable.
