He was talking about taking a risk and doing a different style of performance, at a festival - that’s an audience which hasn’t come to see them specifically, rather than a Mars crowd who are there for them alone. And how it was a great experience and the crowd reacted positively to it, maybe even gained them new fans, and being invited back. The song choice is immaterial.

Like, that cover is great, love it, listen to it all the time, but this made me so sad?
