I take Krav Maga 2 times a week and go to the gym 5 days a week. Krav Maga is ALWAYS fun even when we’re doing ground work, which I hate, it’s still fun because we laugh and joke around and sensei is really engaging.

The gym has become fun because my trainer always puts one fun exercise or an exercise that I love in my daily sets. I have been working out since December and this is the longest I have kept up with it because I enjoy it now, some days it’s a chore but I’m always glad I went.

You just have to find something you enjoy. In college and grad school my go to was Zumba, I have no coordination but I loved both of my instructors. There is joyful movement out there for you!!

I just second all this, I don’t like most dead dove things so I don’t read them. I know that content is not for me and I don’t go out of my way to bully the posters.

This is really for any fandom but I want to say that the Riko fans I follow on here are some of the nicest people I’ve met in any fandom space I’ve been in.

"I'm so tired with the discourse" "why can't this fandom be normal" friendly reminder discourse and fuck-up starts when someone comes onto another person's post and starts throwing shit. Not when the post is made. I think that's an important addition to make to the current conversation, since multiple people are talking about the discourse, which, I guess we could stop calling discourse at this point bcs it's just dead dove purging. You know you should not eat the dead dove, you look inside anyway. That's on you, nobody else, so take your pitchfork and go home.

I just got done at a conference on trauma informed care in foster homes and attachment disorders in children with trauma and there was an emphasis on if there isn’t intervention, and honestly? I thought a lot about Andrew and Riko on the drive home and how accurate Nora’s portrayal of them was given the trauma they endured. Heck Neil too.

You should see the lists of things I have for the exclude tags in each fandom I read, they are EXTENSIVE and that allows me to have a very pleasant reading experience 😇

Alright, to ao3's soon to be arriving Wattpad Refugees, a basic guide to general user culture:

1.) Unlike Wattpads vote system that let's you like each chapter, the ao3 equivalent kudos only allows one per work. Everyone is generally quietly annoyed about this. To engage with each chapter, you're heavily encouraged to comment. Trust me, it makes people's day.

2.) Ao3 has no algorithm. By default it's latest updated work first. You can find things to your taste through searches, filters and tags.

3.) 'No archive warnings apply' and 'user has chosen not to use archive warnings' mean two very different things. No archives warnings means the work is free from any content that could require a warning tag (character death, graphic depictions of violence, non-con, etc). User has chosen not to use archive warnings means it could contain any of the warning content, be it hasn't been explicitly tagged. Treat it like an allergen. No archive warnings apply is allergen free. User has chosen not to use archive warnings, may contain traces or whole chunks of the allergen. If you're likely to have a bad reaction, maybe don't take the risk.

4.) Speaking of warnings, ao3 has very few restrictions on the type of work that's allowed. Whatever your personal thoughts or feelings on that are, thats how the site is. You're likely to run across some dark subject matters and a lot of people are uncomfortable with reading that. You're well within your rights not like these works and have your opinion on whether they should be allowed, but harassing the authors of such works (or any works) is more likely to come back on you than them. Ao3 operates on a strong policy of 'don't like, don't read'. Use the tagging system to your full advantage to only engage with the kind of works you want to see.

This is something I’m just really proud of, last year walking Eddie (the black and tan) and Ember (brindle) together would have been impossible. Since we adopted Eddie last April his leash manners have been terrible and our walks have been filled with frustration and often cut short. Now, after MONTHS of hard work I can take them out together and not have to wait for the weekend when the husband is also off. And walks as a whole are a lot more fun ❤️

I believe Riko plays cards while Kevin plays chess. The King is worth more than the Queen but Riko forgets the Ace (Neil) holds even more power

All the cards and what they’re supposed to represent

King of Spades (Riko)

Joker of Clubs (Jean)

Queen of Diamonds (Kevin)

3 of Diamonds (Andrew)

10 of Hearts (Neil Josten persona)

Ace of Hearts (Nathaniel/Abram/Neil)

King of Hearts (Nathan)

Details I did:

- Riko’s hand under the table, holding Nathan to symbolize him cheating/waiting to use the Butcher

- First drawing: Riko holding his perfect court (A for Nathaniel, Q for Kevin, J for Jean) while grinning at the bloody 10 (Neil) because even if he’s about to win with a royal flush (Ace, King, Queen, Joker, 10) he’s willing to cheat (Nathan under the table) but Riko is unaware that a royal flush needs to be of the same suits so his is just a straight (which isn’t enough for Riko)

- Second: Riko holding his incomplete perfect court (Nathaniel, Riko, Jean) he stares at the two remaining members he needs for his wrongly assumed royal flush (Andrew and Kevin) Riko intends to cheat to have his way so Nathan is hidden under the table

- Riko’s assumption for a royal flush is because it’s the highest value in poker. But since all of the cards are different suits (representing their individuality from the Nest) he’s only got a straight

- Neil would also be a wild card because royal flushes only have as much value without wild cards in a game (something Riko does not prepare for)

Weirdly enough reading this made me think of the still face experiment. A baby and her mother are facing each other and playing and having normal engagement. Then the mother faces away from her baby before turning back around going completely still faced and the baby does everything she can think of to bring back the engagement before growing confused and then horribly distressed at that point the mother comforts the child and then engagement is restored….just thinking of baby Riko and still faced Tetsuji 🥲 and Riko never gets the comfort and repaired relationship.

There are so many studies about childhood development where children need positive touch and their emotional needs met or they can end up as very hurt people.

Riko as a victim is more fascinating and interesting than Riko as a mindless abuser

three criminal families and their three unwanted sons; Neil with a mother who helped him to escape, Jean sold and Riko desperately grasping for anything that would give him his fathers love

Two princes of Exy; the nephew of Tetsuji Moriyama, and the son of Kayleigh Day. It's all Riko ever knew. It was all he could be.

Neil Josten spent two weeks in Evermore. Jean spent five years. Riko spent his entire life under his uncles thumb, in the dark.

The Foxes are all victims of the horrors of life and they all lash out in different ways; violence, murder, alcoholism, drugs. Every single Raven is angry and violent, and that's with only a fraction of the abuse the Perfect Court suffered.

Neil had his mother. Kevin had Wymack, and Andrew. Jean had Renee, and now Jeremy. Riko only ever had Kevin.

Riko is what Neil might have been. Riko is the failure to Neil's success story. Riko was the other life, the other path.

Riko was at most 20 years old.

To negate everything Riko suffers and assume him to be awful for the sake of awful negates his entire role in the story. It insults everything Neil is as someone who got off that path, as someone who turned out differently, it insults those who helped him. If Riko was awful purely for the fun of it, then it wouldnt matter that Neil fought and fought against the Nathan in him, if Riko is innately bad and everyone else in the story is simply innately good.

Riko was a hurt child doing awful, awful things. He is an interesting and complex character. Nobody has to like him or forgive him. But hes so much more complex than 90% of this fandom give him credit for
