longshot. charger. bronco. . . echo. the three naval officers they had meant to rescue. left unburied and free to the reign of the elements of harsh lola sayu. left seemingly unmourned , there is a not a moment to spare to grieve for their fallen brothers, for the mission takes precedence as always no matter how much the cost may drain them. pressing forward beyond the losses and not a moment of thought for the fallen troops, not a mournful word parting either skaywalker's or kenobi's lips in genuine sorrow.
it is very much a rarity that jedi view the losses that are not . . . intertwined with them.
'i'll remember them, cody. . . longshot, bronco , charger . . . and even echo and the others who i didn't know well . they were my friends. ' ruri is the one to utter solemn words and she comes to cody as even piell's body is welcomed into the molten gold that is the lava on this wretched world. she says it solemnly to him, fingers clinging nervously to the lava bitten tunic. he forces back a shaken, grief laden sigh before coming to stand closer to her.
' they are . . . were good brothers. never forgotten by us. 'his voice is nearly a rasp when he breaks the silence between them, the image of their deaths still fresh in his mind. they will forever be fresh to him, each and every fallen brother. even if they are never gifted moments of mourning or even recognition upon the battlefield — the very place where they sacrifice everything that they possessed. and all for what? the question that has come to long haunt cody lately , a question for which he possesses no answer.
' i wanted to stop for them, you know. . . but master kenobi said we had to keep moving forward. ' ruri peers down at her feet , fingers still clasping her all too big robes ( from the first day as a padawan , cody has known her to be a tiny little thing . not meant for this war . like his brothers . )
' there is a mission we need to complete, after all. '
' but they deserve to be remembered properly . it's not fair that master piell is the one that's mourned the most. ' ruri tips her chin up at him , golden pantoran eyes dark with both determination and grief. ruri is a timid and gentle girl and it was most unlike her to make an argument much less raise her voice even briefly . ' our friends and our brothers . . . just as important as anyone else .
cody will always mourn and remember his brothers . that much is absolute . but with each and every passing moment does he realize how much they are truly valued in the eyes of those that command them.
' . . . yes. ' he finds that his voice is lost in a storm of grief and realization that his brothers will always pass on as tragedies left unspoken of. only granted recognition by those that truly knew them, though they deserved for all to recognize what they have sacrificed. gently does he run a hand over the lavender head, an assurancfe for both her and himself .
he won't allow his brothers to go forgotton or unmourned witout a word again.

sunbeam of the 501st legion he/they ・nonbinary ・ marshal commander — the original commander of the 501st under anakin skywalker, he was soon assigned under him after the battle of geonosis. known for their adaptive strategies and their ways of thinking ‘outside of the box’, though fiercely independent from skywalker and never did grow close to the padawan turned jedi general. — the second of three 'batch siblings’ along with rex and cody and they were inseparable when they were younger, with rex always following his siblings’ leads. sunbeam was always very protective of his 'baby brother’, especially as rex had been extremely timid and reluctant as a younger child (though both cody and sunbeam helped him out as they grew older). sunbeam was very pleased to hear that rex was also positioned in the 501st and did not hesitate to tease him whenever there was a moment possible. — he received his name from his bright personality and his hair color — often described as sunlight in people’s lives when they most needed it. when they were not with the jedi, sunbeam was very compassionate and emotional, keenly observant of the violence and negative effects of the war on innocent populations. when they were with their siblings, they were much relaxed than rex and cody, always a smile on their face or a joke upon their lips. rarely, however , did any jedi see a smile from him , and he always pushed them away. — he wore his hair long and very curly, allowing it to fall to past his shoulders. though typically he wore it in a low ponytail or bun, especially during missions and combat. he was one of the very few naturally blond clones, though he, much like rex, would dye it for various reasons (such as to support a favorite team). — after being killed in battle with ventress, their command of the 501st was eventually retained by rex. they had been kileld in action attempting to save their siblings and died in rex’s arms, something which would plague him for the rest of his life. rex never takes upon the title of commander because it is already difficult enough to take up leadership after his sibling and so keeps the title of captain instead of commander. both cody and rex mourn in their own ways and remembers them.

thinking about how mace is one of the few jedi to actually value the lives of the clones and goes out of his way to help them & recognize their efforts but he's demonized because he is rightfully critical of anakin and is one of the reasons for anakin's downfall. he's a complex character but people just love to hate him and refuse to see the complexities in his decisions and attitude.

yeah here's a friendly reminder that i am firmly anti codywan because of the power dynamics and obi wan has not exactly treated cody and his brothers the best. really any jedi/clone ship is questionable because of the power dynamics and how many jedi don't see the humanity of the clones beyond how they are used for war like no thank you.
