It will never not pain me how close they all keep getting to Jay, without actually seeing him. Nya and Jay both spent an extended period of time in the Realm of Madness yet remained unaware of the other. The ninja were at the Administration, in the same building as him, but they never crossed paths. Arin left the room just moments before Jay entered it. While Cole and Zane were fighting the Administration above ground, Jay was right below them trying to arrest Bonzle. If either of them had gone downstairs, or if Jay had gone up to the surface, they would've encountered each other. Like they're all cosmically pulled together just as they've always been, but never actually meet. Im gonna eat drywall.

I’m in the middle of rewatching season 8 because (I found a streaming platform it is free on), and I am sooooo curious to hear interpretations of Harumi’s “real face” as Lloyd calls it. we know she painted over the mark with makeup, but I would love to know peoples opinions. Personally, I believe they’re scars.

Holy Smokes, I am alive and I am posting originally, and I am UPDATING ARCHENEMY OF THE ANACONDRAI??????

Its been...a while. I honestly contemplated giving up on this story to be honest, my creative balance has changed a lot, and I was struggling to decide if I actually wanted to give this project the time I knew it needed when the fandom and the show in general is shifting so far from the original content and storylines that I enjoyed in Ninjago. To be honest, your girl has only watched maybe 2/3 of Dragons Rising, and I skip most, if not all of the scenes that the original ninja are not it. I am just really struggling to connect with the new characters and love them in the way I do the original family.

That being said. This is an AU, and I can create the world where the original fam is safe, together (sort of) and explore this crazy idea I had years ago. The joy and freedom of fanfiction, right?

SO. Here is the 10th update of Archenemy, furthering the plans of the ninja, and some family bonding thrown in for good measure.

so…. I the best fanfic I have ever read in my life is @princesskeda’s, which explores if the Oni were actually the people who are the “dragon hunters” in season 9 in a AU. Well technically ig it’s cannon divergent… I DIGRESS. I agree with so many aspects of it and honestly think it is a better ending than the actual show in some wayssssssss. Like the Harumi and Garmadon part especially…. I won’t spoil it but Garmadons ending especially is so much better.

the author also creates some AMAZING elemental talents and aspects that are all their own so we love a creative elemental power exploration

I literally don’t have the words to describe it, and like I said, it is not my creation, I’m simply a fangirl recommending lol. The original fanfic which explores the AU (of five/six so settle in 😎) is called “Heart of the Oni” on fanfiction.net. They are an incredible author and each book really develops their AU world.

DR will forever have my whole entire heart for all of the platonic and familial affection it's bestowing upon us; not only in the dynamics and the absolutely WONDERFUL dialogue, but there's a lot of physical affection too! And I wanna talk about this scene.

Because like. All of the other displays of physical affection that's meant to be read as platonic or familial were very loud or jokey or boisterous, and they tend to be very upbeat and light-hearted; TIGHT RELIEVED HUGS and SPINNING EACH OTHER AROUND and MESSING UP HAIR etc. etc. And this scene makes me insane because it's so... solemn? It's so quiet and soft and intimate, but it's also meant to be platonic, and I. AGHHH!! IT SCRATCHED SOMETHING IN MY BRAIN!!!!! The lighting and everything!!! Giving the same weight to the farewell that they would give to a romantic relationship!!! THE LITTLE NUZZLE INTO HER HAND!!!!!! AND ITS!!! AHHHHH!!! ITS SO NATURAL THIS IS NORMAL FOR THEM BUT THEYRE NOT TOGETHER OR MEANT TO BE SEEN AS SUCH!!!! AND I!!! Cole and Nya friendship is everything to me now. I'm so soft for them they are literally everything.

I’m sure someone has talked about this before but one thing I absolutely love about tbosas is how Snow’s descent into villainy is never once presented as something that was inevitable

So many villain origin stories portray this idea of a person who tries incredibly hard to be a good person, who takes every opportunity to be kind and to better themselves, but are ultimately doomed to fail by the narrative. Their environment and their circumstances make it impossible for them to be a good person, and while this is effective from a storytelling point of view it’s not exactly accurate to real life

In real life there is always a point where a bad person makes the decision to do something bad, they make the decision to prioritise themselves, their own power, money or desires over someone else. That’s how real life dictators are made, they are presented with every opportunity to be good, and they purposefully choose to not take it

This makes Snow’s storyline so effective because he is given so many opportunities to do the right thing and yet, at every single turn, he chooses to serve himself instead, exactly like how real dictators are made

Snow, unlike most people we see in the capitol, is in a unique position where he could genuinely have the chance to understand and relate to the people from the districts. He, unlike his classmates, is poor and spends most nights going hungry, he witnessed firsthand the cruelty of the capitol when Clemensia was bitten by the snakes for nothing more than lying about doing her homework, when his sister was forced to sell herself on the streets in order to feed the both of them

Throughout his book, the three people he is closest to are Tigris (who dislikes the hunger games, is a rebel, and a victim of the capitol forced to turn to prostitution), Sejanus (who is originally from district 2, dislikes the capitol and knows he will never be accepted there, and also a rebel) and Lucy Gray (who is a victim of the hunger games, from district 12, and is also treated horribly by the capitol). These are all people who gave him an opportunity to realise the cruelty of the system he was in, a chance to directly confront his prejudices and see that people from the districts are just the same as him, and yet he still refuses to take the chance to change

He is given every opportunity, he’s sent away from the capitol to be a peacekeeper in the districts, he forms personal connections with people from the districts, he helps Sejanus perform funeral rites, and yet at every moral crossroads he comes to he makes the wrong decision. He didn’t have to become a villain, and yet he made the choice to do so anyway, despite every chance he was given

I think it’s a really effective portrayal of Snow as a character, and it’s a very effective villain origin story for the type of villain that Snow is. It never once excuses him from his actions because it highlights just how accountable he was for his actions

When you think about it, Lloyd's storyline in s9 is actually lowkey kinda funny actually?

Like, think about it. Up to this point, Lloyd has been captured/imprisoned at least once in almost every season. It's kinda his whole ThingTM. Seriously. Try making a tally of all the times he is kidnapped, imprisoned, or otherwise captured/restrained in some way. Its a little depressing, actually.

Now, what's the title of s9? Hunted. What is the premise of s9? Lloyd and the survivors of s8 are being hunted down to be systematically captured and/or killed by the SoG, while the og4 are off in the First Realm facing a very similar crisis with Iron Baron.

How many people are successfully captured/imprisoned in s9? Just off the top of my head weve got the og4, Faith, Wu, a majority of dragons in the First Realm, almost everyone in the Resistance, Harumi, Garmadon if we count him going to jail...

You know who isn't on that list? Lloyd Garmadon. Yknow, the guy who normally gets captured and imprisoned so often its practically a hobby at this point. During a season thats all about people being hunted down and captured. With one of the main plotlines being about Lloyd specifically being an individual to be captured.

And yet, Lloyd isn't. Oh sure, he'll get locked up in a cage any other day of the week, but during the designated Let's Capture Lloyd Season?? Nope! In fact, he's one of the only main characters who isn't captured in this season!!! He even does some capturing of his own!!

Lloyd took a break from being caged for like two weeks and the universe made everyone else compensate for him.
