Cloud Cover – Review
Cloud Cover by Jeffrey SottoMy rating: 5 of 5 starsThis was a great book that was very difficult to read. There are many tough subjects and readers should be aware of some potential triggers. The portrait of Tony’s struggles seems extremely realistic and it really made me feel for him like he was a friend I knew personally. Thank you to Coffee and Thorn Book Tours for including me and I apologize…

This is another great psychological thriller from Britney King. Starting in 1953, we meet Joel and Gina. Joel answers an ad for “the perfect wife”. Expecting a mail order bride from overseas, he is surprised when the woman ends up being Gina, an aspiring actress from Tennessee who is anything but “perfect wife” material and doesn’t want to be. The ad was placed by her father who was worried about what she would do when he was gone. Jumping at the change to get out of Tennessee she moves to Texas with Joel and our story goes from there. We get the story from multiple POV- Joel, Gina, and a yet unknown person. Secrets will be revealed and people aren’t who they seem to be. This was a fast paced read and Ms. King’s books just keep getting better, she is on my auto buy list for psychological thrillers. Thank you to Enticing Journey Book Promotions and Britney King for the review copy of this book, as always my thoughts and opinions are my own. #mailorderbridereviewtour #mailorderbridebritneyking #newrelease #reviewtour #reviews #britneykingauthor #psychologicalthriller #julyrelease #availablenow #oneclick #buynow #mustread #enticingjourney #coffeedogsbooks #bookblog #bookreviews #bookstagram #blogtour Hosted by Enticing Journey Book Promotions #ipreview via @preview.app https://www.instagram.com/p/CgkcLHig5bf/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Happy Publication Day for What We Give, What We Take! This was a wonderful story about the relationship between a mother and son and how we love even the most dysfunctional family. This is a very emotional and heat wrenching story but a great read! No spoilers but there are some tough subjects covered. I have not read anything else by this author but I do plan on looking into the authors other works. Thank you to @booksparks @shewritespress and @randitriant for the advanced copy of this book. As always my thoughts and opinions are my own. 3.5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #coffeedogsbooks #bookblogsofinstagram #shewritespress #whatwegivewhatwetake #booksparks #advancedreaderscopy #publicationday https://www.instagram.com/p/CcRScT4LJCl/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Book Tour & Review: The Echo Man
Book Tour & Review: The Echo Man
The Echo Man by Sam HollandMy rating: 4 of 5 starsWow, so I am always on the lookout for a new author and Sam Holland has knocked it to of the park with The Echo Man. It’s a very dark thriller/crime story with a touch of horror aspects with a serial killer that likes to reenact true crimes. Emulating Mason, The Hillside Strangler and Dahmer, just to name a few, this killer leaves a gruesome trail…

A Queer retelling of Shakespeare’s Julius Ceasar, Lauren Emily Whalen’s new YArelease Take Her Down has some VERY dark themes, a lot to love, and a little to improve. I absolutely loved all of the representation although I think that at times the book trie too hard to be inclusive. The format, a thesis written in 5 acts (like the play) is different an can be hard but I think it works given the subject matter. There are A LOT of trigger warnings, and I do advise readers check those out before proceeding. Retellings are one of my favorites (outside horror) when done right and this one is done right, down to the play on names. The intro (lost half of the book) is slow and can get repetitive but the rest of the story is very good, there will be characters and situations you will hate, to be spoiler free, I wont say more. I loved Whalen’s previous book, Two Winters and after reading this, she will be an author I will watch for. It’s not a perfect book, but it is a good one. I give this 3.5 of 5 stars and thank @suzyapprovedbooktours and @laurenemilywrites for the review copy of this book. My thoughts and opinions are entirely my own. #bookstagram #booktour #suzysapprovedbooktour #coffeedogsbooks #retelling #lgbtqbooks #takeherdown #darkacedemia #triggerwarnung⚠️ #readthisbook #ya #bookblogger https://www.instagram.com/p/CbLT0uIL4Aa/?utm_medium=tumblr

Blog Tour and Review: The Ghosts of Thorwald Place
Blog Tour and Review: The Ghosts of Thorwald Place
The Ghosts of Thorwald Place by Helen Power My rating: 4 of 5 stars This fast paced story is a unique take on a paranormal mystery/thriller. Rachel Drake is hiding out from her husbands killer and when she ends up dead herself, she is “trapped” in the elevator where she dies and adjacent apartments. Catching snippets of conversations and learning more about the neighbors she previously avoided…

Blog Tour and Review: Oy Vey, Maria
Oy Vey, Maria! A Mrs. Kaplan Mystery by Mark Reutlinger My rating: 4 of 5 stars This was a cute and humorous cozy mystery. I loved the main characters and the aspects of Jewish culture, especially the Yiddish. It reminded me of my grandmothers except they weren’t trying to be detectives, just nosy 😂. This was the third in a series (I love all the titles) although that doesn’t detract from the…

Saints of Swallow Hill by Donna Everhart 📖 This was a great historical fiction novel! Taking place in North Carolina during the great depression, we see the lives of several characters as actions both in and out of their control find them all at the same turpentine camp. We see some horrible actions by the people who oversee the workers who are little more than slaves. Workers were not even paid, the received tokens to pay their rent and purchase food, which left many of them continuously in debt to the camp. The descriptions and character building were very well done. There are some not so easy thing to read but the times weren’t easy. If you are a lover of historical fiction, you will truly enjoy this book. I give it 4 of 5 stars and thank Suzy’s Approved Book Tours for the review copy of this book. Blog Tour and Review: The Fortuna Coin
Blog Tour and Review: The Fortuna Coin
The Fortunata Coin   This is a slow read with some definite triggers that I will state at the end as to not spoil the story. This story is also about second changes and would we change our decisions. The caveat is that you have no memories of what happened and only some flashback of “the future”. Will that cause you to make some changes and prevent the tragic events that occur? I would not…

The Cambodian Book of the Dead This is a dark & gritty noir-ish crime story and the first in a trilogy. While it’s listed as a thriller, I believe this genre is more suited to the story and material. Following Maier, a former war reporter now PI, we end up in Cambodia trying to track down a missing heir. While this started off very slow (more than halfway), the story did begin to pick up in the latter half. Taking place in 2001, the reader learns about the past 50 years in Cambodia, which were not pleasant. I did enjoy it even with the slow pacing although typically noir style crime stories aren’t my go to reads. I give this 3 of 5 starts and thank Blackthorn Book Tours @hrpr.booktours and the author for the review copy. As always my thoughts and opinions are entirely my own. #blackthornbooktours #coffeedogsbooks #bookblog #bookreviews #bookstagram #blogtour #ipreview via @preview.app https://www.instagram.com/coffeedogsbooks/p/CYjwp7Pr4nP/?utm_medium=tumblr
